The moment Essek came back we were eager to see what answers he could give Ashton about their head. It wasn't a lot but it does help on their slow-build development as a character, perhaps more answers come in Aeor - and hopefully more positive and affirming answers unlike the shard incident. As well as getting some titan upgrades at later levels I hope we see Ashton utilize dunamancy more, if they could absorb Otohan's backpack's powers to use echoes that could help with them guarding others to wear out some enemy actions, plus it'd be inline with their character to be both a damage sponge but also not putting themselves in harm's way.
Though might be worth gently telling Essek another time - or given his point not to trust him, not telling him at all - that they have like seven (or three, depending on if the two FCG had and the two in Otohan's backpack broke) of those liquefied vials of dunamancy on them...
Imagine what what happen if Ashton drank the vials of liquified dunamancy
