I'm assuming you can oxy weld and braze. If you do those you can TIG weld since it's the same basic process just with a different heat source.
It's easy they have this little thing that looks like a soldering iron but it's an engraving gun it works like a miniature air hammer
Wait until you turn 50 and you've used your hands for hammers your whole body work career you just think your hand shakes now

Speaking from experience, if you get in an accident with your hand at 12, you WILL punch yourself in the face really really hard when the airbag goes off. It hurts.
My wife has the same “cup problem.” She has enough Stanleys and Yetis for almost every day of the month. Literally an entire cabinet in the kitchen full of them. I have 2 $12 plastic copco coffee cups I have used for years (currently drinking my coffee from one while watching this). They last 5-6 years til I drop it hard enough and crack the lid, then I’ll buy a replacement.
The new hand position standard is 9 & 3. Safer because of the airbags and facilitates the use of shuffle steering. Shuffle steering is now taught as opposed to hand over hand.
9 and 3 might be where you are from but here in Canada it is 8 and 4

Kevin's got a badass shop but time to invest in a good dust collector system for his blasters. I have one on mine and when blasting seeing inside the cabinet is no different than seeing outside of the machine. It'll save him crazy amounts of time.
There are hoses underneath and what looks like some kind of vacuum behind them, so they probably didn't turn it on..

Hillbilly is correct. Hand position is 4 and 8 so that when the airbag blows it doesn't break your arms.
This is the correct response. The main reason for the change is so you don't have two broken arms.
I had an accident in a Ford van and getting hit with an air bag is not fun at all damn near broke my glasses knock the breath out of me for some time too THANK GOD I didn't break my ribs again nothing worse then breaking your ribs
The hand position is where the turn signal and wipers switches are. On older card, the switches were more upward, that's why the 10 & 2 position. On newer cars, they are lower, mostly at 9 & 3 (also to facilitate shuffle steering)
It has all to do with the air bags deployment.

you mentioned 7 and 5, this is because if you get involved in a collision, and the air bag deploys, with your hands up higher on the wheel, you punch yourself out, as it hits your fore arms, LIGHTS OUT !!!

I use to build the M2 Hoods for the Freightliner trucks at Molded Fiber Glass my mom has been there for 35 years now she was there when the M2 model came out and we are the only plant with the hood mold so that means that your trucks hood came from Morganton North Carolina, that's so cool I didn't know your truck was an M2 until just now
I love seeing the process! Sandblasting is amazing. Hillbilly is still being a tool. Some things don't change.

Obviously there’s a lot more to your shop than what we see on your channel. I don’t know about anyone else, but I think it would be cool to see a tour of your entire shop and your other employees that keep your business rolling while you work on your channel and special projects.

Kevin’s metallic powder coating work looks absolutely awesome. Kind of wondering if they can do candy or pearl coating with metallic as well.
Tiger Drylac can grind what ever colour you like.
As can Duracoat.
Most powder is sold in a 25 kg box.
Outside of standard colours is very expensive.

I remember walking inside the oven with a flashlight to inspect products. Amazing how long a person can withstand that kind of heat.
Experts at the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) now recommend 9 and 3 - on opposite sides of the wheel halfway up - as the ideal steering wheel hand placement. The 9 and 3 steering wheel hand position maintains good control over the wheel while reducing the risk of injury from the airbag.

The best steering wheel position is Twenty minutes to Four . . . avoids the SRS, and relaxed arms makes for a relaxing drive.

Hi Guys! Well I’m not being a downer but one of my early jobs was sand blasting so,after you have finished blasting steel parts you should NEVER handle those pieces with your bare hands! The oils & acids in your skin will start rust right now everywhere those parts were touched with bare ungloved hands. Always handle blasted parts with clean gloved hands or clean tools until those pieces are protected by paint. Can’t wait to see the Bombi in paint!
Most body guys wipe things with acetone or mek before tack cloth and static.
Our powder coaters wear full Stay Puff Marshmallow suits with an independent temperature control air source.
Powder is hard on the health.
A shop in Sherwood Park Alberta had their powder coater die of lung desiese after dust mask painting in less then a year.
He was in his early 20's.

Hand position on the steering wheel is now 3 & 6. This is the best place to have your hands/arms of the airbags employ. Airbags sometimes create burns on the arms as the debris comes out of the steering wheel.
That powder coating session was super cool, was always interested in how that works.
I always have a tape measure, cresent wrench and a pair of vice grips with me at all times.
They changed it to 9 and 3. For the airbag. I still palm it :)

The old 10-2 steering wheel grip is no longer recommended. Now they advocate a 8-4 grip. Holding the steering wheel in the 10-2 position puts your forearms directly in the path of an airbag should it deploy.
Am I the only one that thinks the tub of the Bombi should be Rhino-lined or Line-X-ed? I had the bed and rocker panels on my Dodge Ram Line-X-ed and I have absolutely no regrets. Ten years on it has resisted all scratches from brush (on the rocker panels) and I have had no de-lamination or peeling.
The wrap turned out pretty good. You aren’t kidding. Powder coating IS expensive.
Guess I qualify as an old timer as I come from the days of 10 & 2. Wonder how many viewers remember the term 'C.O.D. turn'? Can't do those with modern cars because of the form fitting seats and seat belts. Great video Robby, thanks for sharing.
You guys should try Playa Azul next time you're in Salina or Richfield. Not saying they're as good as the Vegas place but they're pretty good.

I love ZRP personally. (Zinc rich primer) i think its and epoxy. Whatever it is, it's super durable.
Because the stuff we painted was so big we used ground cable. The only thing we painted hot was aluminum rims which you have to do otherwise it'll gass out when it cures
I always did 4 passes two in one direction and two in the other than a rapid shake quick pass over that. 15 million BTU oven's will teach you quick tho

DuPont used to make this stuff called 5718S. POR-15 Metal Prep is equivalent and still being made. It does a light zinc phosphate conversion coat on steel similar to a process called Parkerizing making it more rust resistant and producing a better surface for paint bonding. I believe auto manufacturers dip their frames and bodies in something similar. I probably wouldn't worry about it in the desert but would consider the extra prep step for other parts of the country. You can also shoot an epoxy zinc phosphate primer for extra corrosion resistance before the paint layer.

When I drove professionally, it was 3 & 9. That way you could turn the wheel 360 degrees without moving your hands off the steering wheel.

The rule of thumb for hands on the steering wheel used to be 10 and 2, before the advent of airbags. Now the rule is 9 and 3. The change is to prevent your elbow from folding backwards when an airbag deploys. Safety first, guys.
