I'm incredibly impressed! Having used a range of products like Corel Photo-Paint, Draw, and Graphics Suite, as well as Krita, Inkscape, GIMP, and Adobe over the years, I have to admit that Affinity has astounded me in just a short video. Its intuitive interface and well-integrated tools have made it the standout program for me. After years of navigating multiple software packages to achieve my desired results, Affinity's streamlined approach has made it possible to accomplish everything I need with just three programs. It's truly remarkable.
Some very significant and extremely useful features added. As we have come to expect from Serif they are well executed with careful attention to detail. Unfortunately some of us seem to expect all the advantages of a subscription service without paying a subscription! We mustn’t lose sight of the fact that these are exceptional creative tools which are incredible value for money even if they don’t include all the bells and whistles of the exorbitantly expensive “competition.”

Corel user here. I think former Corel Draw users are your most likely future users but I'd love to see a switch from Corel to Affinity video that would show the typical learning path for us. Otherwise it's scary when you used to quick and easy tools, but I want to join the movement of leaving overpriced software as many do. Affinity looks great but most of all looks like it's developing and listening to user voices!
AD has such a brilliant unique workflow and is amazingly easy to learn compared to Adobe products. All the tools are easy to find and accessible. I can't believe that it took me a day to familiarize myself with the tools without spending months to master it like Adobe Illustrator.
You have impressed me. Yes there are steps one needs to remember to accomplish this amazing design workflow you've demonstrated, but I believe once mastered it would be a breeze. I think I'm gonna use my 30 day trial to learn what I can. I am really thinking about buying the whole suite for such and affordable price. I use Adobe right now, but it wouldn't hurt to have this design suite in my toolbox. I love Adobe Illustrator, which is quite a program that works and works well, but this Designer suite looks like it is gonna give Adobe a run for its money considering the fair price Affinity is selling this product. Hopefully I can learn to master what you've shown here. I will definitely spend time learning this. Thank you for this tutorial and hopefully there is more to come. I look forward to it. Cheers!
Greetings. Put the zoom icon (the magnifying glass) and the panning icon (the hand) on separate icons, not that you have to choose one or the other. During navigation, they are used simultaneously, and it is cumbersome to switch them.
At around 19:20 what design style would people call this? I'm trying to get better with graphic design and the closest I can find is neon design, but that's not quite it.
Having illustrator at work, I bought affinty products for personal projects at the beginning of the year and found them lacking in many areas and using only couple of times. Probably will wait for something like v3 until it's worth paying again.

I'm new to this design program and enjoyed your overview video of this version. I have a question that I hope you can answer. I engrave large stones. In my current sign design program I can take a photo of the stone with a dimension line drawn on it and download the photo into my design program. Then I use a sizing tool to scale the stone in the photo to it's actual size. Then I can overlay my vectorized design over the photo. This way I can show my clients a proof that is totally accurate as to how my design will look on the actual stone that we're using. Would it be possible for me to do this in this program?

Nice vid. Is it now possible to draw eg a square in 1 meter without using scaling? I come from Corel Draw and there it isnt important if you use a document in letter size or any other you can draw in 1:1. Designer 1 cant do this what is a big dwonsize.
While i can appreciate the work that is going into this project, this should have been an update to the existing package that I purchased less than a month ago. This is all and good for new customers but you're not really thinking about the old ones here. Not that you need to since we already paid I guess. Now users are gonna have to pay again for the 2.0... Doesn't make sense really ( and yes I saw the 40% off but still )
Have to (partially) disagree. They are not following the dreaded « subscription » business model which means they need to follow an other business model. You still keep your version of the software. Also you are talking about old customers saying that you bought the software a month ago, I bought mine years ago which makes me feel like I really got enough Time to enjoy and use my version. So I guess it’s just a question of bad luck that had you waited longer you could have bought the newer version instead. It’s like people investing in a new computer, the newer/better generation might be announced soon after, but that is a risk you need to consider when making your purchase. Of course depending on the size/importance of the upgrade, a new version might not be justified. Which is why I only partially disagree.
Affinity Designer launched in October 2014 and has had several years of completely free updates since then. Even if you only bought Designer a month ago you have still benefited from all the work that has been done prior to get the app to the mature state it is in now. It's only fair that after 8 years the developers can finally have a paid update for all their efforts.
Seems like a ton of changes for $100 with all os and ipad. That’s like 2 months or less of Adobe CC. I purchased about a year ago but I’m totally fine with this upgrade. I would caveat this and say I’m cool with this as long as they support and upgrade v2.x like they did supported v1.x. If they immediately gate all new features to a future v3 that comes out in a year I’ll be much less impressed. Also I think we have known v2 would come out for several months at this point, if you just bought v1 last month you should message support. It was bad timing maybe they will let you refund and buy v2 instead.
It is too bad that the RUclips video is so blurry that we can't see for sure what your check-boxes are. I don't think I have the two boxes mentioned in the video.
Why does Affinity Designer 2 sometimes decide it just doesn't want to open a file? I have lost access to 2 files now it just will never open them. It's terrifying for a designer, knowing sometimes your files are just rendered useless. There seems to be no customer support except on Facebook messenger so I have had to resort to this.
The pixel persona in designer should be affinity photo. I u manage to fusion the 2 apps in one that would win the internet and kill the competence. I have seen users that boolean shapes in designer and open photo to make a selection on it 👀
I was a long-time user of Affinity Designer on Macos, moved to a Windows workstation and bought Affinity Designer 2 at once. To my great regret the performance of the second version of the application is just awful, constant lags and sometimes even freezes, and this is all on the configuration of the PC (intel core i9 12900K / 64Gb DDR5 / Nvidia RTX 3090ti). After two updates unfortunately nothing has been fixed. Is there any way to get the first version product for Windows? It is more stable and just flies compared to the second version. I couldn't find how to do it on the website.

With Adobe you'd get some monies off, only with the most recent older versions, period. Albeit NEVER, EVER, EVER as much as 50% NOT EVER. Also not with ALL old versions. Adobe was always THOUSANDS of Dollars because you HAD to buy the software the way Adobe BUNDLED it, except in the VERY beginning, when you COULD & DID buy just AI separate from PS. You couldn't even pick ONLY the programs you WANTED or Needed. & to get AI & PS together you'd always have to go for the most expensive bundled versions. I KNOW this is fact being a Professional Designer & having been a USER of both Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop ever since it was Adobe '88 & when the KNOLL Brothers were still Licensing PS to Adobe. YEARS before going subscription based. OH YES, I've used them both since they very first came out & YOU?!! Back then the programs could ONLY be used on Macs! Warp! yippee this was so annoying having to rasterize fonts and distort in Affinity photo then switch back but not anymore!

If my vehicle has a defect, the dealer fixes the defect. so I see some improvement made to some defects .

I don't have those extras check-boxes to turn on at 3:15. The two circles are not turning into an infinite loop for me.

Disappointed with the company. Several tools that the community was begging them to install and they didn't, and not even to place a differentiated value for those who invested in the first version.
Please speak a little slower (you sound rushed; I had to replay several moments just to understand certain phrases), name the items you're clicking on (not "this new icon"), and don't say useless filler phrases like "go ahead and". Thank you. EDIT: "perfectly in the middle" dropped so many syllables that it sounds like "perfdlymiddo"
