Brilliant 😂 you two are getting real good at this straight to camera double act. Love the cliff hanger at the end and yes we do want to know about the new kits 😅
I bought a 2nd hand Schumacher cat from our club when I was a kid. I stripped it down and rebuilt it every week for years racing and it taught me engineering. Fast forward 35 years and I own and run engineering co in the UK and it all stems from that. Thanks Mr S
Ahh the nostalgia! Definitely remember coating tyres in bathroom sealant and then rubbing a pair of tyres against each other to get a nice even coating. Local club held events in a community hall with a slippery polished wood floor. Some 1/12 racing but most ran 1/10 2WD/4WD buggy Tamiyas plus a few Kyoshos. I had a Boomerang but clearly remember drooling over a CAT XLS, chain drive Optima and RC10. All this making me want to have another go now I can better afford it!
@@PopalongRC Slippery slope though... I just know one minute I'd be getting a re-re Optima Mid just to scratch the itch... and the next I'd be buying a RC10B6.4 and every hop-up in existence, LOL!
As a American Associated Electronics has always stood out to me as the premier championship wining brand. Sadly after Thunder tiger bought them out I have watched that brand become a cheap Chinese money grab RTR brand. Watching videos like this one from across the pound has really opened my eyes to the brand of Schumacher RC and I can feel a sense of pride and nostalgia in both of you when you speak about Schumacher as a whole. Thank you for the awesome video. Cheers
You two must have been in your element there. When you see the volume of quality products about in any of the classes there’s so much to choose from…. it’s a problem 🤣🤦🏻♂️ I remember about 20 years ago or so being in WHSmiths and seeing on the cover of a RC magazine I’m sure it was a Predator by tenth technology and a Schumacher buggy and being gobsmacked by the engineering of the pair was 🤯 Superb stuff you two 👊
Love this. More please. Can you do a state of the collection soon please with a run through of racing essentials we should have and also car run downs showing the parts you have fitted to your cars. Thanks chaps
Great video! Must have been big fun. I remember when Schumacher had a Distribution center in Tampa, Florida back in the SST 2000 era. It was amazing to walk in as a customer and see the huge stock of parts. Robin Schumacher would be at the local tracks racing and supporting everyone. Great memories.
Thank you very much for this video! Perhaps I'm one of the biggest Schumacher Fan in Germany. I got the most 2wd and 4wd Buggies they made in my collection😍 Also I'm happy to have a new Big6 electro Version, in my opinion a very big Cougar😅
What an epic video. Was never a Schumacher fan back in the day as I'm a kyosho fan boy. But totally respect them for what they've done for the sport and hobby plus it's British 🇬🇧👌
You two crack me up 😂 I remember many years ago working on the estate where Schumacher are based. New what it was but didn’t know much about them. Wish now that I gone and knocked on the door! You never know I might have got a look round 🤷♂️ . Been trying to rack my brain as to which Schumacher I had but it alludes me. Great video
Nice vid, i know a lad that works there and was great to hear they still do loads in house. Must have been a great day esp getting your hands on massami’s cat 😎
What an absolute brilliant visit, you lucky boys!! Great video too, awesome in fact!! Schumacher and of course Arrma the two best of British engineering for RCs although I shouldn’t speak of them together in the same sentence! Schumacher are my favourite although the reres I find challenging and frustrating to build!! I’m crying out for a new in box XLS but I envisage it’ll never happen sadly!
Great video guys, reminded me of one of my first electric touring car kits the original Schumacher mission with all the optional purple upgrade parts 😩 I miss that car! Keep up the good work lads!
One of my favourite videos you guys have done. A bit jealous I haven't had a Schumacher tour for a long time, will have to get one booked as a Schumacher driver and Shop owner 😁. My Dad actually won one of those 6th scale Lotus cars at a race meeting it was the electric version and it was called a Big 6
@@PopalongRC if you guys ever come to Bedworth RCCC I'm sure he will tell you the story he was the chairman for 20 odd years. My brother is now the chairman, as well as being that annoying voice on the race program most clubs use 😂
What a great look inside the legendary Schumacher headquarters, I still remember me and my brother getting are topcat's for Xmas in (89-90) and being blown away with the level of quality compared to all our Tamyia kits 😂 and at 12 years old I started racing at are local tracks like Fenton manor and knutton working men's club both in Stoke on Trent and I happily beat my older brother many times😁🤣 but never managed a first☹️😥🤣🤣. P.s I not long ago purchased a shelf queen Mi4-LP for very less than £100 and it's mint👍. Hopefully I can save some money and get another topcat very soon 👍👍
Ive been wanting to build one of their kits for some time they look to be very well made and look like a work of art. Im kicking myself for not getting a top cat rere
Really enjoyed this lads, thanks for all the work filming this episode. I remember Misami Hirosaka's reign he was one of my heroes back in the day. I never knew Schumacher was a British firm so I learned something today. PS my DR8 video just dropped, would love your opinion on the edit if you get a mo. Love yas! TTFN
You actually never got to see the first cat , more likely the second one, the first cat 4wd was actually held together with really heavy duty elastic rubber bands, i raced one in the early 90s at club level , think how much that would be worth today, probably thousands 😮 and it was a really short wheelbase to. Niiiiiiiiiiice video guys 😊
Firstly how lucky was you to a Schumacher for your 13th for my 13th I got a second hand Subaru bratt your mum and dad must of been rich 😳 I did work my way up to a optima (which I still have to this day) I’ve had dealings with mr Schumacher senior but not RC related he’s a bit of a wizard with a pre-select gearbox used in vintage cars
Id love you to work with Schumacher to bring an under 15s only night event or something to encourage kids into RC too many are stuck indoors playing video games. Adult racing as youve pointed out in previous videos can be a little heated at times and i think a kids only night would be better for them?
I am assuming you were going for a laugh when you said, "British Engineering"...right? I worked at an RC pro shop for years thru the 1990's and the only time I saw grown men weeping where those who ran the 4WD class with their Cats. Having to ream every suspension pivot and custom cut half of the car was our full-time job, or disassemble 3/4 of the car to replace a small part... Then, to rub salt in, some guy would walk up, dust off his Optima mid and run to the top of the class, dust it off again, throw it in his trunk and drive off. I hope Schumacher has improved since then!
I'm 49 and I have always wanted a British built rig. I bet the quality is absolutely top notch! What a terrific field trip going to that facility!!
We had such a great time … left there buzzing

Wow just amazing thankyou to Schumacher for letting us see that and a big thanks to you guys for doing it😊

It was a great experience and we really do appreciate the opportunities that have come our way since starting Popalong … this was a special outing .
amazing and so cool to know a bit more about the cars and the drivers. keep the good content coming through

That was awesome. Like visiting the Vatican. I visited the Tamiya factory in Shizuoka Japan. It was kind of a pilgrimage.

I used to operate an injection molding machine that made funnels, i wonder if that wheel was pretty hot in the hand
Warm to the touch

A couple of years ago I rebuilt my original Schumacher cat. When the cat came out I used to turn up at race meetings and be the only one with one
