We hope you enjoyed this look at Fort Parker State Park! One quick clarification: Fort Parker Lake is completely within the state park, so you don't need a fishing license if you are fishing from a boat in the lake. Here are some other places you might want to visit in Central Texas: ruclips.net/video/cljTPDlPUI0/видео.html . See y'all Wednesday!
RV Texas Y'all a little disappointed you said Fort Parker State Park is near Waco, but no mention of Mexia and Groesbeck. I’m guessing the Fort was closed is why you didn’t feature that site.
Hey Michael. We mentioned Waco because a lot more folks understand where it is vs Mexia or Groesbeck. But, you're right, in hindsight we should have mentioned that is was between those 2 towns. We were there last year after several weeks of rain. The park had just reopened after flooding. The fort still had a lot of standing water, so we weren't able to include it on this trip.
Great video. History, natural beauty, sense of humor were the makings for a wonderful video. Stay safe, stay well and safe travels. Thanks for sharing.
Thank goodness the Burr Oaks grow slowly as we have two in our backyard and two in our front yard. Nice park review. Nice that park looks like our 43ft Bus will fit into the park.
We were amazed by how big those Burr Oaks get! We love the park. It would be worth checking with the park about size. I don't think there's a max size listed, but the turnaround at the end of the camping loop might be a little bit interesting. Probably less of an issue if you have already disconnected your tow vehicle.
Great to see y’all out and exploring, been waiting to see more of Texas. Have to add this one to my go to places, not a hard drive from where I am in Arkansas. Always the Best Videos!!! Stay Well and Safe Travels...
We have camped at Fort Parker and we really loved. We missed the cemetery when camped there so thanks for the information. Lake Bob Sandlin State has a small cemetery up in the day use area if every get to north east Texas. Also in the same area Daingerfield State Park a CCC park still have the dance floor facing the lake. Atlanta State Park and Caddo Lake State Park also in the same area. You camp in the area of these parks without going to Jefferson Texas with all its history you have missed out on a great adventure. Keep up with the videos and safe travels.
They have done some improvements on the Park from when I was growing up. It is kept very clean, they replaced an old walk bridge with a floating bridge leading to walking trails, and there is another boat ramp on the river part of the Park. I have been lucky enough to see some deer, but the last time I camped there I was raided by a family of raccoons, late at night. These fellows are smart, and can open coolers.
Stacie and Tom save the turtles! Another great, detailed tour of a beautiful Texas State Park. Beautiful all the way through, and that sunset timelapse at the end was awesome.
You make some great video's! I love the sites.and that is nice when you need wood you can choose and use your card. That is a perfect site where your RV was at, like the cemetery those are some historical grave site's, great video guy's ,...stay safe and ..Thanks..
Thanks! Yes, we really got lucky. We showed up without reservations and were able to get that site. The park had just reopened following a bit of flooding.
I just read Texas Rising. A historically significant area that I want to give a visit. Enjoyed your review of the park. When people watch movies such as John Wayne's The Searchers, they assume all that frontier stuff happened in the Utah desert.
Great point Gary. Texas Rising is on my (Stacie's) list to read. I just finished Frontier Blood, which was a historical account of the Parker family. A bit wordy at times, but overall an interesting perspective on the Parkers and their role here.
Where I live, there was a turtle crossing a busy road. At the same time a jogger was passing by. I hollered at her to get the turtle off the road as I was in my car and it was on her side of the road. She said, eeewww, you do it! I shook my head, got out of my car and did what Stacy did, she ain't no sissy! : )
LOL! Always happy to help a turtle out! 😂 That reminds us of our trip to Huntsville State Park a few years ago when Grammy Kay jumped out of the Jeep to rescue a turtle: ruclips.net/video/-YV6Aiu84OU/видео.html
Nice little Park......We stayed there for a week during the past Spring Break 2020 at site #23. If you like BBQ, check out Baby Clays BBQ down the road from Park. They have pretty good Slice beef Brisket.
Thank you guys for producing your videos. We’re at Fort Parker camping right now. WE’ve got a great spot (12, right across from where you were) and its kinda cool that we can walk around and see exactly what you showed us. Nice park, not really a bad site in here that I can see. Thanks again.
Awesome Brenda! Enjoy Fort Parker. We didn't get a chance to go to the Old Fort while we were there. I (Stacie) have great memories of visiting there as a kid. I'd love to know what kind of shape it's in these days if you make it over that way.
We did go by the Fort today. It’s in great shape, you can walk around thru the facility on your own ($2 per adult). They have several placards around describing the building and some of the history.
Amazing video. Cant wait for sept 17th to get here. I be goung there. Soon as you drive in an pay for the stay, there is a fork in the road, if you stay straight, that will take you to where we have the reunion at. There are cabins, a building where we eat and where we make bread how the Comanches did in the old days and still do to this day and yes they talk Comanche at times but all the dancing an all that is in Oklahoma in Lawton.
Loved it. I’m pretty sure my parents took us to the Park when we were young. I visited Mexia many times especially on Memorial Day. Two of my grandparents (and great grandparents) grew up in Mexia and Groesbeck. Glad to see that you are back out again. Our last set of reservations were cancelled last week for Ft. Griffin (a little south of Copper Breaks). Was looking forward to those star lit skies. Another time. Thanks for the videos. 👍🙂🔭
Thanks Bob! A lot of my (Stacie's) family grew up in the area also. Sorry to hear your reservations at Ft Griffin were canceled. Hope y'all can get out and have some fun soon. We filmed this video last year. We hit the road again on June 1.
Hey Mark! Hope you're doing well. We filmed this last May. From what we hear, the park is currently open for day use with advance reservations and for camping for folks who already had reservations. The park website lists all of the current restrictions: tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/fort-parker
Thanks so much! I (Stacie) have worn Columbia boots for years: amzn.to/2Xux9rw . And Tom has hiked Merrell boots for the past several years: amzn.to/2X1bKa8 .
I tvi k I'm gonna make Fort Parker my first camping trip in my new self built teardrop camper thanks to y'alls video! Question: do y'all collect tshirts as souvenirs? I see y'all wear quite an assortment. I'm a t-shirt and blue jeans gal and I'm thinking this would be a souvenir collection I'd get a lot of use out of. Is there anything else yall collect from state parks or travels? Stickers? Magnets? Patches?
Hi Lisa! Fort Parker would be a great first stop. We have some t-shirts. Our biggest collection is hiking stick medallions (that we still need to actually put onto our hiking sticks). 😁
Hey Joani! It’s been a little while since we were there, but we are 99% sure that the electrical boxes have 120v plugs as well. It would be unusual for them not to.
Thank you, I am going there this weekend for father's day with my family and I didn't know what to expect but your video is the perfect guide for beginners like myself.
@@rvamericayall My bad I didn't type what I was thinking. Should have been, Yes I know this is your "work" but would you go back to your old jobs? This looks like a lot more fun.
Thanks David. We actually clarified in the description of this video and the pinned comment. Fort Parker Lake is completely contained within the boundaries of the state park, so you do not need a fishing license to fish from a boat in the lake here. Since the river is not fully contained within the park, you do need a fishing license to fish from a boat in the river.

Thanks David. We actually filmed this last year. But we look forward to going back in the future. Hope you're doing well.
We loved our stay there also, and we stayed in that same site. We used it as our place to stay to run into Waco to visit Gain's World.
Hey Mike! That's a great site. We were lucky to get it.
We are going to have to check this park out thanks for sharing.
It's a nice park Brent. Have fun!
Oh neat. That's a great idea for wood supply. Woohoo. Love your videos😊
