I have a white GX470. Bought it brand new back in 2004 and still driving it.

People still like boxy SUV judging by the jeep and most large SUV
The large suv's are really on a truck platform. The large GX does not look outdated. Still looks futuristic and modern like every other Lexus

Great review as always brother Kirk. The GX460 is a Great SUV. Very reliable, very comfortable, a heavy & solid feel when driving this awesome body on frame SUV. A True people mover. I like the red tail lights better. I was never a fan of the alteza style lights. I really like this 2019 GX460 Luxury package, but if given a choice I would prefer the LX570. Again great review.

Sadly, someone hit my beloved 2006 LX 470 and totaled it, so I'm forced to buy another car. I can't afford another LX in the current used car market, but I think I can afford and will be happy with a GX in this date/price range. Your review was way better than anything I could find to show the Luxury version features, very informative and helpful to my shopping experience!

As a daily driver and family vehicle for both city and rural use (camping, off-road) with a plan to keep "forever"...would you recommend a newer lower mileage GX 460 Luxury (2015-16) or bit older higher mileage LX 570 (2011-14)? Very helpful video...thank you!

Yes it is worth more. It is styled a bit better and is much better equipped. The bottom lip looks amazing!
I've owned 2 Lexus' before which is enough to make me want one of these even if it's an older model, but I've also owned a truck with a V8 before too. The gas economy is absolutely no joke. I think I'll go after that F-Sport GS model.

This car has the potential to be truly great, but is in dire need of a total re-design; inside and out. One of the best engines, drivetrains, and suspension packages on the market- if maintained, these cars can go for 300k miles and more. I bought an RX 350H instead of this, but would consider purchasing in the future once a refresh is in the works. Nice job on the video buddy!

I love the design of the interior: not to modern and not too old. And those engines are bullet proof, it's a shame they get bad gas mileage, but that's what you expect in that class of vehicle.
Hope to see a TT v6 option or a hybrid option in the future!
@@KirkKreifels have to disagree, V8 all the way. If I wanted a V6 I'd just get a 4 runner. Also at 70mph on the highway you can get 20mpg. I have a lead foot and still average around 16mpg city/highway. People who buy these want the bullet proof V8 and reliability. Reliability goes out the window when you start to add turbo's and batteries that will inherently fail.

We get the 570 in Australia and a 450 V8 diesel - very nice spec you have - from a Landcruiser base very nice truck - I’m a fan of the LX but don’t get GX here - just Prado

I have a 2019 RX. In addition to feeling less drag-and-drop, RX overtook GX across the board.
RX is a great all around vehicle. GX is a tank that can handle any off road situation and can tow
a lot better than the RX.
Hey are the seats comfortable especially the third row
I will say the front two are very comfortable if you are under 6'4 lol. The middle is very comfortable in bench form, and just as comfortable in captain's chairs, albeit with no middle seat. The 3rd row is okay in comfort for adults and good for most teens and children.

So this came from the factory on Bridgestone Duelers? That's what's on my LX but as AT (All Terrain) versions. Cool, they are my fav tire brand. Like you I don't know much about tires but I have had good luck with Bridgestones in the past on my sedans and coupes and especially their softer formulas (higher rolling resistance is how thats measured) which do wear out faster but grip the road so much better that you will feel like you are in a slot car.
I have had several customers that won't buy a car unless they have Michelin lol

Surprisingly the prado was updated like 1.5 years ago and they really updated the interior to make it up to date surprised the GX is not updated yet it's the Lexus version it should have had more preference

I bought a 2008 GX470 literally last week. Still have my LS430. There is definitely a different feel to driving a GX470, but it is extremely a solid vehicle. No way in the world RX is better than GX. GX feels extremely rugged yet refined and smooth. I feel I am driving a tank on velvet cushion, but the seats are smaller than LS430, which is a bummer.
How are the seats in GX460 compared to GX470? I will buy an older LX570 whenever I find one for the right price. GX gas consumption is almost as bad as LX570....
GX 460 seats are a little bigger I feel. Has mileage is bad on both lexus SUVs.

I have a 2006 gx470 with 58k miles. I hope and expect it to hit 400k. I want to keep it for next 10-12 years.
@@Bibiweebee 58k miles? That thing isn't even broken in yet. My 2011 GX460 is about to hit 90k miles and still feels brand spanking new
They call it a silver titanium. It is easy to maintain the color.

Also I thought this SUV was full time 4 wheel drive? Why does it give H4 and L4 only? Where is the middle?
yeah, full time 4wd no 2hi mode. only 4hi and 4lo (crawling off road low speed transfercase)

So the basic model only has regular spring suspension? And this one has the hydraulic suspension?
The luxury package has air ride suspension for the rear and adaptive variable suspension for the front and back.

Correction: the power folding of the 3rd row seat is standard on all trims.
KDSS is standard on all GX 460 and an option on GX 470.
Can’t understand for all the money Lexus you can’t Even get into the third row seat from the driver side because that seat is mounted any reason for this
In japan, they only got the prado which is pretty much the same thing and actually prado got a interior refresh in 2015 while gx did not get one. but in fact although here gx cost more than a gs but prado(gx) actually cost even less to make/assembly than an lexus is, in japan, the top trimmed 4.0 v6 280hp prado cost like the same as the cheapest is300.
if you have the 50000ish and want a yacht that can go off offroad , get a nissan patrol(armada), which is same class as lx570/land cruiser and actually sells better than land cruiser in middle east while land cruiser 5700 is about same price as a armada(patrol) in middle east(while being 30000 cheaper in north america)

QX80 is also the patrol and I would still rather get the Landcruiser over the QX80. However the Armada is a bargain in comparison to the LX and LandCruiser.

Because RX is more modern and up to date and futuristic,whereas the gx is showing a bit of age it needs a pretty heavy overhaul.

Idk why Lexus does that, but that's always been the case with the GX's. Even when they first converted all their other models to push button starts, the GX still had key start and the older dash.
@@imyanigmw It's one of only a very few body on frame vehicles left, it is a true Land Cruiser (Prado) underneath so there are always people who want that associated capability. A unibody vehicle couldn't do the things this does.
