Short chains is a good idea. We color code the hooks with paint for the different lengths. Just an idea for you.

Back when I was driving I had a tool box that weighed 80lbs. Glad you don't need that!In my tool box I had an assortment of copper tubing, various sizes of bolts, different types of brass fittings, and the best thing of all was a nice assortment of the Gates type screw clamps. Stick a bolt in the air line and a Gates clamp and off ya go! Wonderful looking Pete. I drove a '80 COE with a 350 in it and a 13 speed. Sure beat the hell outta the Freightliner I drove before and that had a 318 Detroit. My ears are still ringing! Keep up the good work!

Might want to carry a variety of replacement fittings and tools to make on the "Job" repairs that are simple in nature and cause your operation any down time !

Just a thought for ya, I carry 2- 5 foot chains, 3-8 foot chains, with large hooks on one end and regular hooks on the other end, I do this because some of our machines the big hook wont fit the tie down hole, so I use the other end and fit it thru the hole. I do color code the ends to save time. also I would recommend if you haul very much of the bigger equipment, put your out riggers with some boards on them, it will help support the weight and not bend your side rails down. If at all possible don't side unload anything, trust me those rails will get bent down. Really enjoy your videos!!! Stay safe!!!

Still thinking some fenders, headache rack, and either strobes in your cab lights or light bar all would be a great asset to your set up, especially a light bar for the amount you are in the road. Be safe, brother.

Loosen the band clamps and turn your chamber covers so fittings are on the side instead on top

I've been hauling equipment 25 years and its personal preference but I run 2 4 ft 4 6ft and 4 10ft. Big hooks are a must and get them color coded for length

Good morning Brother, hey you got to do what you have to do to get down the road it will be fine😂 Yes I believe they should have to fix everything that’s defective on that truck as much as they cost it so crazy. Keep the hammer down Brother 👊 maybe paint the hooks a different color for the different lengths

I'm thinking as much as you have to park on the road you should invest in a light bar that you can install on top of your sleeper I know it ain't cheap but safety-wise it would go with all your other strobe lights
Also famous last words are usually
    "OH 💩!!"

We run 4 10' 1/2 chains, one grab and one slip hook, took two 20' chains and cut them in half

I haul everything from 340 cats to 315, smooth drum rollers and dozers, they work perfectly, the tight length, we run a talbet tho, but id assume it work as well, we carry 6 1/2 chains, 1/2-5/8 binders ans couple 3/8 chains(20') and 3/8-1/2 binders
Maybe look into protecting that valley between the axles with a cover plate, then you can just set the booms down on it, some manufacturers have the kit for their trailers

Lots of good comments on chain lengths, and yes I’ve had the opportunity to work with PACCAR Engineering, let’s say maybe more DEI as a few more women working in Engineering could hopefully help the arrogance you see when you work with them. Honestly they act like they are doing us a huge favor by allowing us to drive their trucks for heavens sakes. I love the way the 389 (not the 589) looks but may if I ever pull the cord and go into heavy hauling on my own I’m going to get a quote on a VNX from Volvo…with a Cummins of course lol.
Get some short chains and with your rig a headache rack is not that big a deal, you can keep most of what you need on the trailer just as easily. Good luck and keep on trucking!

In my over the road yrs of trucking so far...ive only seen like 1 and that was up in Washington State. Which the girl was standing outside at a angle from my mirror and I was in driver seat smoking a cig waiting for my 10hr break to be done so I could start my PTI and she asked me if I'd like to have a "Fun time" and I told her thanks but NO THANKS that I didn't have much time b4 having to start my clock and was gonna be leaving..so she went to the truck that was to my right and knocked on their door. But no answer at that truck. Then there was a JBH trucker across to the right of us that was backed up into the spot and the nose of the truck that was facing us that she went and got into. So I guess she gave that guy some "fun time"
