This is a simple music mod to bring back music from version 1.09.4 of Sonic Robo Blast 2 to version 2.2.
That's the version I have nostalgia for, and I don't think the new tracks (good as they may be) do the originals justice.
Since I'm definitely not the only one who feels this way, I'd like the time I spent making this mod for myself not go to waste, so I'm making this public.
For levels that didn't exist in 1.09.4, like Deep Sea Zone, I used version 2.0's music.
I ripped these music tracks straight from the original music.dta files of the coresponding versions.
All of the files were Ogg Vorbis at roughly 64 kb/s. They were not reencoded or transcoded, so the quality is the same as you would hear in the original versions.
I would have modded the sounds, but there aren't any that bother me and I can't tell the difference that well.
This mod should work with versions after 2.2, unless Sonic Team Jr. changes the music.dta level names again. (I doubt they will soon, as the original format lasted at least from 1.09.4 to 2.1, a span of 8 years, or 13 if you count the final patch for 2.1, version 2.1.25)
    Installation:
    1. Insert srb2_2006_music.wad into the root of your SRB2 install folder. (The "root" is simply the first folder; ie, C:\Games\SRB2\srb2_2006_music.wad"
    2. Launch SRB2.
    3. Press the tilde key (~, or `; it's the to the left of 1 and ! on QWERTY keyboards)
    4. Type
    addfile srb2_2006_music.wad
    and press enter
    5. You should see a message that music files have been replaced.
    6. Start or load a game, and the new music should play. If you go back to the title screen, the title screen music should also change.
    7. Create a (or open an existing) file named "autoexec.cfg" in the game's root directory, and add the line "addfile srb2_2006_music.wad". Save, and relaunch the game; now, the music mod should load automatically every time you launch the game.

I have a lot of questions, on how to make the autoexec.cfg, can you put .pk3 files on the commands? how do you activate it somehow? I tried everything I could do.

if you want to make it automatically load the wad, on the srb2 folder create a autoexec.cfg and type in it the name of the wad im pretty sure.

I made a music pack that's pretty much the same thing for myself to use except all the music is from 2.1. lol
