That's actually the DRIVE preamp used in this patch, not the STACK. See it yourself, the ME-80 users will notice this. Tone Studio confirms my bold claim. Sorry Josh for busting out the secret of your great tone. :) Stack is ok but DRIVE is where the money is at! Such a great preamp with the best cabinet simulation and the most versatile voicing. Literally every good medium and hi-gain patch is made with the DRIVE preamp. See it for yourself guys! You rock Josh and so does this channel!
Understand that the real reason this sounds so genuine is because of the man's playing ability. He has the correct feel and the notes are accurate. This has more to do with the authenticity of the tone than anything. If you can't play in Randy's style exactly ( or anyone else's for that matter, like EVH or SRV or Vai or Schenker, etc.) it won't matter how accurate the tone is.
You are 100% correct!!!
Thanks, Josh !! ..For your time, explanations and your talent !! You just helped me a lot !! Cheers !
thank you for sharing infos, essentiel for people who can't afford all the studio fx used in the 80's
That was cool thanks for the video I love these pedal borads there so user friendly I had a gt 100 it was nice but I had problems setting it up for different stages so I just got the ME 80 and it is so perfect for what I do.
I just purchased the me-80 because of your Crazy Train demo. I have a Les Paul Standard and a Marshall Half stack...what patch do i need to get your tone.....sounds great. thanks
Josh, thanks for sharing the knowledge... I am very impressed with the sweet tone...
Subscribing to your channel now
Your demo got me to go buy it I haven't set it up yet I can't wait
So are you happy with it.
Could you display your actual settings for all the effects you used on the ME80.....Much appreciated.
Do you connect the Me-80 to an interface or directly to the computer via USB?
Good video, lots of info. I'm mic'ing into the ME-80 playing a sax though it. Thanks for the help (I'm not a guitar player, so this is like a hole new world to me)
He also double and triple tracked his guitar parts to give it more of a full wall of sound and a sense of a slap back delay which it really wasn't.
Can this be done with ME70? it's the only thing I got :(
You are a genius. One in a billion!!! ✌
Why thank you very much.
Is it have any inbild rythems?
Robin Trower's tone must be very difficult to duplicate because I can't find a patch for his tone(s) anywhere. If you know of any please let me know.
light fuzz and vibrato with a strat. Bam!
Im sorry I am confused. What is everything we need in order to get this tone? In the video you said we need to download the tone, so i'm guessing on the computer? Does that mean every time I want to use this tone I need to have my computer with me? Sorry again if i sound stupid lol i just want to know what i need to buy.
Hey mate, not a stupid question at all. You do need a computer to download the Boss Tone Studio Software. Then you plug the ME-80 into your computer with a USB Cable. The software connects to the internet and shows all of the patched available from various artists (including these ones of mine). You then load it into your ME-80 and then it's stored in the ME-80 so you can disconnect and take it with you. p.s. I recorded this tone direct so without an amplifier. Hope this helps. Josh.
Oh ok, makes much more sense. Thanks for the feedback.
@@joshuamundaymusic how about if your going straight to an amp? i have an epiphone les paul, and marshall dsl 40cr, and the boss me-80 still cant figure it out, thank you in advance
@@triskelion0912 Just turn off the Preamp stomp. Simple as that.
Can I get the tone on a boss me 50
What is your baseline (i.e. what is your starting tone from the amp before incorporating the ME-80)? You did mention your normal strat tone... so are you on a dirty channel with a low gain?
Hi Mate, sorry just checked this video. These tones are all direct so I didn't use a guitar amp at all. They are straight from the ME-80 to the computer sound card where we recorded this. Josh.

can i use korg ax3000g power supply for me 80?
depecheddurand tinha esta ax3000 muito boa. consegue este timbre sim.
Does this or the GT1 sound better.
PLEASE REPSOND: how to you set up this if you amp has built in sounds already? Do I have to turn all my setting on my amp down? Or do I have to buy a amp with no built in pre sounds.
You run the BOSS ME 80 while your clean sound of amp is on..
Says stack but dials drive?
If Boss could get that phaser like the old ones it would be everything one would need. Naserith used it in love hurts
outstanding!
What would he's clean sound be
the distortion part is hard to get without the pedal RR used back then which was a MXR distortion. RR put MXR on the map....
thanks nice work
Is there a video anyplace on RUclips demonstrating how a person can use the ME-80 to simulate the Tom Scholz guitar sound that began with a Marshall, a Crybaby pedal and his first Power Soak that evolved into the Rockman product line, so the player can more accurately duplicate the sound of classics such as “More than a Feeling”, “Peace of Mind”, “Don’t Look Back”, “Amanda” or “Cool the Engines”? I always thought that if equipment like this can simulate the Randy Rhoads guitar sound, it could also simulate the Boston guitar sound, but people seem to want to overlook that. How come it’s not considered dubious wanting to mimic Randy on “Crazy Train” but it’s somehow considered sinful to want to emulate Tom Scholz on “More than a Feeling”?
Hi Shread, I have a Boston tone for ME-80 (actually 2 of them) on my website www.guitarfxpatches.com
BOSS RUSSELL
🔥👌
sick
Why isn't this already a factory patch?
Evh two or three presets
Rhoads Two presets L and R
SRV lead and rhythym tones
Satriani
Page
Beck
Trower
Pat Travers
etc...
There's a hell of a lot of space in the that memory, why not put it to good use , skip all the gimmic carnical patches, give us patches we can go on stage with out of the box.
Don't worry about which pickups we use , most of us that would want this unit have 15 or 20 guitars, + once I have a decent patch any of my guitars sound great on it.
None of the patches have to be identical to the artist, just close and easy to listen to, not 50 of the lead patches that sound like angry bees.
What I've heard from two of your videos so far, does sound good , just hope when the unit shows up there are some useable patches to start with.
@Jedi Mindtricked Exactly what
idiots say when they're talking
out there ash, and probably play
a ukulele, and poorly. :)
A Lespaul could have made it perfect "
No se escucha igual...
First! Sweet tone!
Iron Maiden pkease
One more distortion pedal. What else ?
