Observation, I researched the clip of Jake shooting the P320 and the 2011 back to back, and to my eyes the P320 recoiled perceptibly flatter. But that could also be due to the x300 added weight. I shot my PMM dual port comped p320 back to back with the Spectre Comp, and mines shot considerably flatter than the Spectre Comp. I agree with Chris' comment, the aftermarket was doing this to p320s much longer than Sig, and to much better effect.
Regarding the break-in period, I have a custom P320 I did way before the factory Spectre Comp. It uses a subcompact slide Norsso, full size grip, and dual port Parker mountain machine comp. Granted it was cerakoted which affected the slide to frame fit initially, I also had about a 300-400 round break-in period. Switching to hotter ammo resulted in less stovepipes (124+p vs 115) and quicker break-in. Some guess will blame poor grip for cycling issues with comped guns, which may be accurate in some cases, however I found this to be a break-in issue as the malfunctions went away 100% after the initial 300-400 rounds. I have shot the factory P320 Spectre Comp, and the guide rod spring seemed on the very heavy side. Racking the slide took more effort than on most other guns I've shot.
I was so closed to moving to the P320 and then they started showing up in the news again...unfortunate. Love my P365, and I an glad they used a plunger safety for that instead of what they did for the P320.
I noticed a break in period additionally the slide loosened up after about 500 rounds. I did notice some really excessive wear on the barrel hood and lots of tin flaking off, all over my hands and beard. Sig says 'normal' wear I am not so convinced.
hmmmm thats a bummer. the tin is flaking off? def not supposed to happen cause from my understanding TiN has a Vickers hardness of 1800-2100, a modulus of elasticity of 251 GPa, a thermal expansion coefficient of 9.35×10−6 K−1, and a superconducting transition temperature of 5.6 K. I dont know what any of that science means from wikipedia but i i think it means that tin isn't supposed to flake. 😂
The 320 VTAC is an incredible full size gun. Those Viking Tactical sights are so good you will not even want a red dot sight. I am trying to think of a role for the Spectre Comp. An out of the box competition pistol? VTAX 29.5 Oz. Spectre Comp 41.8 Oz.
I have this gun, I believe there is a break in period. I had stove pipes malfunctions for the first 200ish rounds using both 115g and 124g ammo. It was MALFUNCTIONING every 2-3 shots… I tried“working” mags from my other 320 legion, didn’t solve it. Sent it into sig, they said “they couldn’t find an issue but replaced my barrel due to excess wear” I requested further testing. I got it back within 2-weeks at no charge (very happy with their support). Since I have shot it 500+ rounds no issues. Not sure if they fixed something but failed to mention it or if there’s a break in period. My experience
Txg (tungsten infused) and the X5 grip is different. Sigs way of squeezing an extra c-note out of you. It is also the heaviest grip you can buy (accept for the axg grip with brass inserts) I'm deep in the 320 rabbit hole. Every few months they release a new frame /ported slide/ compensator combo and charge 1500 for it. But it's all the same stuff.
Nice honest review as always guys. I want to buy one of these Spectre Comp guns but I'm hesitant about the stove piping issue. I wish Sig would make a good pistol with a comp that works flawlessly out of the box for the amount of money I'm paying for it, that doesn't have jamming issues that requires me to spend my hard earned cash and valuable time to either put 800+ rounds down it or pay $100 to DPM for a mechanical recoil reduction kit to fix the stove pipe problem. If your going to spend $1,600 for a gun you expect no problem shooting any 95-147gr 9mm out of the box. Why is Sig allowing this to happen and making tons of people so frustrated that they send their gun back to Sig to fix the issue. I just don't get it.
I’m thinking the 320 Spectre Comp needs to be broken in a little. I only have 50 rounds through mine, and I’ve had 3 or 4 stovepipes with it. I was pissed because the day I shot it, I had also shot both my Prodigies, and had multiple malfunctions with those. The only guns that I shot that particular day that didn’t have any issues were the pair of 365 XMacros that I picked up. They were fantastic and have made their way into my carry rotation. I like nearly everything about the 320 Spectre Comp, and hopefully my issues will work themselves out. Thanks for the video!
My problem with Sig is maths, hear me out. The Spectre Comp is $1,488.99 P320 X-Compact* is $600 TXG module is $250 PMM barrel/Comp is $355 So, where'd the extra $280 go? We all know that polymer guns aren't hand fit, their "custom shop" is picking up an FCU with a special serial number on it and slapping the gun together like it was another M18 or P320 Nitron. It's not "custom", it's accessorized. Sig is charging you more money for the Specter Comp than it costs you to just build one off a pre-existing assembled firearm, which means you get to save $280 _AND_ can sell the compact parts for some cash as well. I selected the X-Compact as an example because it has the right slide length and is red dot cut, and grip length doesn't matter.
Sig just seems to fill the spaces that all their customers want . You don’t have to buy the most expensive of the X series models as a Legion , AXG or RXP etc may do the job just as well. The Spectre Comp is just a variant that comes OofB with some of the customization that folks have been already doing aftermarket apart from a Graygun’s trigger or Barstow barrel etc. I have a few 320’s and shoot a P320 Max in competition cause it comes with a great Romeo 3 Max optic installed , a Legion tuneable 1911 spring system and a pretty good trigger. I’d say the Max without a comp may shoot softer than the Spectre Comp due to the design of the slide and the springs . I’ve had zero reliability issues with any of my Sig P320 variants. But I do swap out the OEM takedown levers with Armory Craft as the OEM’s can break eventually and run Springer extended mag releases for a fast reloads. Phil Schrader and Max Michel are both top competition shooters and their pedigree is evident in how a lot of these models perform IMO.
My p320 spectra comp best gun I own in 9mili for edc Kinda only in the cold months 😂 Extremely reliable and accurate I would buy this gun 100 times over 💯💯💯
Personal preferences are a funny thing. I have owned many different types of pistols. I hated the p320 when it first came out... now it's my favorite platform going right now lol. It's funny how things vary from person to person.
@@1911syndicate fair haha thanks though! Could be an interesting topic if y’all have any experience with other ear pro that are solid options (in contrast to the in-ear protection you’ve warned against in the past)
I’ve owned the M17 and other P320 variants and only kept one. My problem with Sig is they offer too many different (and overpriced) models only to be discontinued shortly afterwards resulting poor factory support.
@@OfftestOperator Yes, for the P320. Some of their older rifles and pistols, Sig won’t support. The Sig 522/556 series of rifles is an example of this.
To be honest out of all the firearms I have & through 14 different companies Sig is my favorite but even that being said I don't like everything they do either. For instance I have the P320 X Compact which I like. I bought that over the original 320 or the M17 & M18 models. Because as soon as I picked all 3 up before even shooting immediately I didn't like them and I can't explain why it was just a feeling when it's basically the same gun.
I purchased this model recently and also have had 1-2 stove pipes every mag. So far I’ve shot around 200 rounds and have still consistently have had at least 1-2 stove pipes per mag. Called Sig and was told that’s just what happens with comped guns…So hoping it is just a break in period but so far very disappointed…
I’ve never shot either of the spectre comps. but that’s fucking crazy if you guys are telling the truth about recoil being the same. everyone I’ve talked to or the videos I’ve watched make it seem like it’s a big difference, you guys are literally the only people I’ve heard say that guess I’ll have to shoot one and find out
"TIN finish " is Titanium Nitride. A coating that reduces friction . Its an extremely hard ceramic material, often used as a physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating on titanium alloys, steel, carbide, and aluminium components to improve the substrate's surface properties. I'm not sure this guy is aware of what a "TiN finish" is.
Thank God. Someone else who realizes p320’s are dramatically inferior pistols when compared to their striker fired counterparts. Why? There’s some major things regarding the 320 that are VERY troubling. (1) *THE ONLY PARTS OF THE P320 MADE IN THE USA ARE THE SLIDE AND BARREL.* That’s it. Every other part is made overseas in either Indonesia or India. (2) *Every other “metal” part - aside from the slide and barrel - is made of super low quality MIM and cast/stamped metal shavings.* All the slide internals, the entire FCU, the frame, etc… Using that much MIM for hyper critical components of the pistol is catastrophic for longevity. Mark my words. My X-Carry has been 100% through 5,000 rounds for 5 years. But that’s a low round count over a short period of time. What we don’t have w P320’s is long term data like we do with other pistols that have been around for decades. (3) *I believe we’re going to see a huge number of problems/breakages w the p320 pertaining to longevity only 10-15 years down the road (from 2016).* Things we wouldn’t expect to see from other makes and models of “high end, well made, striker fired 9mm’s”. BC handguns on average have an exponentially longer lifespan than rifles do. It’s not uncommon to see 1911’s, Berettas, CZ’s, DA/SA Sig’s, etc run for hundreds of thousands of rounds before even needing a barrel change. By comparison, AR barrels will typically last between 20,000 & 40,000 rounds. So in summation, it’s pretty terrible of Sig to choose profit over quality by shipping manufacturing overseas conflicting w their ethos. And it’s even worse to hide this from the public while continuing to charge premium, made in the USA, firearm prices. Very disheartening. I implicitly trust my life to my 226’s and 229’s… But my 320 remains only a range/training tool. YMMV.
Sig has plenty of shills out there, glad you guys do honest reviews. I would wager thought that a shadow systems mr920/xr920 with a ramjet might be king
@@Chrisblau Brother I hear you about many guntubers being mouth pieces for particular companies, and that’s why I enjoy your videos. However, not sure Mike is being paid by Sig, but heck what do you have to lose? I think it would be very interesting content and y’all are pretty close in locations.
People always claim the comp does something but they ignore the insane weight haha 😂 looks cool and I like em but I definitely wouldn’t buy it for $1,500 bucks Lol FYI-the x-macro is the most returned new gun right now haha 😂
Having owned several P320s, my issue with them comes down to this: modularity aside, the base P320 models are just ok. There's nothing particularly special going on, and the triggers are kind of creepy and mediocre. On the other hand, when you get into the "Custom Works" P320s, while they tend to be better than the base models, they are WAY over-priced for what you get, and this seems to be no exception. I would expect a $1400 polymer striker to be excellent. Instead, they are just "good," but still not amazing. I can get a Walther Q5 Match for the price of this P320 Spectre Comp, and I don't think there will be any comparison - not in terms of overall build quality, nor trigger.
I built mine before they put the spectre comp out. Now they need to jump on the 2011 market. Make a good 2011 with a chunk port and butter smooth slide.

One, if not the only gun that's in the news more & more now days. Being completely Unsafe & LE Dept. are starting to switch back to Glocks, etc. Most of us have seen the vids of these guns just going off while Officers are walking while in duty holsters & the last video I seen was an Undercover Officer get out of his car, walk around another vehicle & boom! His 320 just went off without him touching it , etc. My Buddies PD SE of Houston will not allow them to Carry the 320 any longer & my old Dept. made the same switch. Too many liabilities & law suits. Calling this a "mythical issue" by highly trained LE Officers & Military? I think not! SIG is "Settling" most of these law suits & there's a lot of claims. I'll stick with my G19X & buy a Prodigy for that price, even though I do love the look of the M-18 🤟 If the Glocks were going off like the 320? The internet would be on fire!
I bought am M18 because of the external manual safety. I got some info from an Army soldier from the local base and he said some of their M17’s went off (not sure if the safety was engaged and carried in the correct holster). My local Gunsmith checked my M18 and it has all the springs but I still don’t want it if there is a chance of ND. I put a Romeo 0 Pro and Wilson grip module so hopefully I can sell it.
I want an M-18 w/ the ext. Safety for sure. Or the new 226 x5. I love SIG (even though I own more Glocks & 1911's) but the "Duty" or civilian 320 is in deep trouble now for going off. Milwaukee is one that's been in the news the most but there are others 🤟
Chris, if you ever feel like laughing you should check out those “reviews” of this gun by the Navy SEAL etc folks on this that Jake referenced. They’re not exactly believable…
If you’re going to do a review being knowledgeable about the product is necessary. It’s a txg frame with extra stippling. Basically an upgraded x5 legion. Comp does work and other reviewers have shown it. For an out of the box race gun this is about as good as you can get
My problem with Sig is the customers are still the Beta testers. I am interested in the macro but I see people say the mags and the iron sights rust on them after only a few weeks of carry.

Did you try any 147 grain

I was so closed to moving to the P320 and then they started showing up in the news again...unfortunate. Love my P365, and I an glad they used a plunger safety for that instead of what they did for the P320.
Great Vid -this helped me put the brakes on me picking up one 👍
Interesting
I had one and the barrel finish was also coming off.
The problem with Sig is usually you have to wait 3 to 4 generations before buying something. Good chance their 1st gen products are total dog shit.
Great video!!! Gun wasn’t half bad either lol. Yes I put the tape to get rid of a little bit of wiggle in the light.
Thank you as always for helping us. I genuinely like that gun dude 👊🏼
You should’ve put an Olight on it. The good stuff
Better to be viewed as honest by your audience than favorably by all companies.
Are you guys selling merch? Love the hat.
We do yes check our site
I've owned a few p320s and everyone of them had odd malfunctions for the first 400 or 500 rounds. Since then I don't think I've had any malfunctions
Go through the comments a lot of people have had the same experience
Same with my p320, pissed me off initially until I realized that it needed a break in period.
Am a lefty and I have an axg pro. No problems with lefty controls being stiff. Probably does need to wear in. I’ve got 1000+ rds thru mine too tho
I know. Jake just knows nothing and decides to be difficult
AXG apparently are awesome from what we’re told
Nice honest review as always guys. I want to buy one of these Spectre Comp guns but I'm hesitant about the stove piping issue. I wish Sig would make a good pistol with a comp that works flawlessly out of the box for the amount of money I'm paying for it, that doesn't have jamming issues that requires me to spend my hard earned cash and valuable time to either put 800+ rounds down it or pay $100 to DPM for a mechanical recoil reduction kit to fix the stove pipe problem. If your going to spend $1,600 for a gun you expect no problem shooting any 95-147gr 9mm
out of the box. Why is Sig allowing this to happen and making tons of people so frustrated that they send their gun back to Sig to fix the issue.
I just don't get it.
We’ve heard from multiple people that theirs had the same break in period. And then it was fine
I’ve only been building 320s & 365s lately.. you can build them so much easier and better then any other brand..
Congrats on not getting cancelled yet! lol
You guys are great, love the video!
It appears to be a common problem
My problem with Sig is maths, hear me out.
The Spectre Comp is $1,488.99
P320 X-Compact* is $600
TXG module is $250
PMM barrel/Comp is $355
So, where'd the extra $280 go? We all know that polymer guns aren't hand fit, their "custom shop" is picking up an FCU with a special serial number on it and slapping the gun together like it was another M18 or P320 Nitron. It's not "custom", it's accessorized. Sig is charging you more money for the Specter Comp than it costs you to just build one off a pre-existing assembled firearm, which means you get to save $280 _AND_ can sell the compact parts for some cash as well.
I selected the X-Compact as an example because it has the right slide length and is red dot cut, and grip length doesn't matter.
What holster are you guys running for the SC
0n the sig manufacturer instruction guide there's a 1,000 round break-in period.
Honestly a p320 shooting vanta flat is a huge compliment
Any safariland als holsters for the specter comp you know of?
I do not
The more use on the left side will act the same a polishing the part. Of course it gets easier to manipulate with more use. Like my revolver or wife
Haven't had any problems with mine and I run 115gr federal through it for competition practice
The X5 and the txg is the same dimension just different weight
My p320 spectra comp best gun I own in 9mili for edc Kinda only in the cold months 😂 Extremely reliable and accurate I would buy this gun 100 times over 💯💯💯
Thank you for calling out the paid gun reviewers.
So what would you guys and gals say would be a good p320 to get and build? I wanna do a custom and not sure if the plain p320 is a good base

Personal preferences are a funny thing. I have owned many different types of pistols. I hated the p320 when it first came out... now it's my favorite platform going right now lol. It's funny how things vary from person to person.
What stands do you use for your silohouette targets (both paper and steel)?
Cittac. But they’re not around any more

Is it the he508t?
Life stop thing is normal . Sigs have break in periods , couple hundred rounds, even if they don't admit it, used to work there. Love Sig

I’ve owned the M17 and other P320 variants and only kept one. My problem with Sig is they offer too many different (and overpriced) models only to be discontinued shortly afterwards resulting poor factory support.
They literally have every one of the variants and parts for them available on their website

Tungsten infused grip module
Icarus is necessary for me to like any of sigs polymer pistols
Have you guys seen that Brouwer LLC "M1811" grip frame? It allegedly gives the P320 1911/2011 frame egors. Would like to hear your take on it
No sir
I purchased this model recently and also have had 1-2 stove pipes every mag. So far I’ve shot around 200 rounds and have still consistently have had at least 1-2 stove pipes per mag. Called Sig and was told that’s just what happens with comped guns…So hoping it is just a break in period but so far very disappointed…
Maybe change the ammo? Try different grains
Mine had a break in period. My PMM ultra comped p320 hates 115gr. So now all I run is 124
I keep seeing litigation on the P320.
I’ve never shot either of the spectre comps. but that’s fucking crazy if you guys are telling the truth about recoil being the same. everyone I’ve talked to or the videos I’ve watched make it seem like it’s a big difference, you guys are literally the only people I’ve heard say that guess I’ll have to shoot one and find out
The 320 X5 shoots exactly the same
"TIN finish " is Titanium Nitride.
Definitely a break in period… I had to send mine in twice before I could “break it in”
I don’t have no family a dog 🐕 n a lot of 🍺 😂😂😂my Man💯✅

The same people that shouldn’t be shooting guns if they are sensitive to noise.
It’s also the most sold out gun everywhere I shop 😜
If this is true that’s very weird
@@1911syndicate it can’t be. Everywhere I go their sold out or just sold out. Plus a waiting list long as hell. I smell a bluff 😆
Good 2011’s don’t need a comp honestly

I'll stick with my G19X & buy a Prodigy for that price, even though I do love the look of the M-18 🤟
If the Glocks were going off like the 320? The internet would be on fire!
Above my pay grade 🤷🏼♂️. But I do not want my guns to go off without me making them go off
I bought am M18 because of the external manual safety.
Starting of the work night with the glories beard, ou and also some guns n shit....fuck yeah!
