My idea would be to have a regular standard menu but with a monthly planner where customers can sign or choose which specialty item to be made for each next month maybe ? 3 choice items and mosted item would be chosen to be the specialty item only available for that corresponding month until the upcoming month after :)

Since the pandemic, I'd say it's the pizza shops that are the only segment of the industry that hasn't been hit and is actually benefitting from the shift. They already had delivery and takeout is common with pizza. They didn't have to pivot too much. When I work with restaurant owners, I teach them how to use systems to carve out a 15-20% profit margin. It takes discipline to follow the systems and make sure the systems are followed by management. This helps tremendously when terrible economic conditions and crises occur.

wow! props to you for joining the club so young! selling BBt isn't necessary the same business as selling ice cream, but is a great add on. you will need to educate your customers and let them know you have this as well. aim to have your BBt line's revenue exceed your IC revenue. This way, you are more diverse and can even start doing catering and such. hope this helps!

I have worked in restaurant industry for 10 years, It's a high profit margin but it's noway near 35% compare to bbtea or ice cream . It show a high ticket sales for sure but the return is nowhere near. In addition, high rent and supply will hold your return profit ( specially during Covid time). what do you guys think about opening a small burrito bar as my first investment? friends love my burritos, I've found a nice, cheap place to rent (its near a gym, and Im targeting fitness people, because its healthy food, with rice, vegetables etc - alot of protein and vitamins). as long as burrito is a staple food item in your area, i think its not bad. you should survey the gym people and see whether they are actually looking for burritos after a gym session. my assumption is that they will want to head home or they meal prep. know your audience's needs and give them what they need/want in their current state of mind.

Easy on/off highway, already zoned business. 200+ frontage road. Lot Is a bit irregular in that it is more long than deep. This year will be my last year of high school. After that, I plan on opening a small food shop that will sell food packs for students of all ages. Not a restaurant, not a bakery, not a pizza shop, not a cafe. But a small shop that make them all in small quantities and sell them as packs for school meals. Wilson K Lee there is absolutely no big chain. Finnish people- or the Nordic/Scandinavian people don’t drink tea with a lot of milk. And chewing while drinking is weird for most of them. There were few independent store opened in the center/shopping mall but all closed. There’s just one truck still open in 3 summer months and 3-4 asian cafes have it on the menu and very basic.

don't have too much experience with bars. if you are looking at just alcohol, the margins are substantially higher of course. however, its tough to get a crowd to come for drinks on a regular basis. you need to mix in other lower margin items and such. thats why f&b love serving drinks as its what makes them more profitable.

How about thai food cafe? In city like LA, on every block. In my city, only 5 thai restaurants in entire city. However I have yet to find someone who doesnt like these places. Also, only one bubble tea place which has me traveling 25 min per week to get there. Bubble tea so delicious! Ps my wife and family thai.
You mention bubble tea shop being low investment start-up but can you tell me what is average cost for it? the information I found is telling me its not so low investment. P.S. can you advice if opening bubble tea shop in the city where there is literally zero boba shops a good idea? is it good or bad to have no competition?
There are a lot of different factors in can bring up or down that number you're asking for. ie. location, build-out, franchise or not, country, etc. But including operating costs it could be ~$150K CAD all-in. It could be 1/2 of that depending on where you are and all those other factors though. I wouldn't recommend opening a bubble tea shop in a place that isn't receptive to the drink. There being zero shops could be a telling story. You want to make sure there is actual demand from the market. IF there is demand and people are receptive to it, it may be a good opportunity to fill that need. But tread cautiously and rreally really do research first...

Pizza shop? Not anymore it really depends on the part of the world you live. Were I live in Pennsylvania everyone has pizza not just pizza places. Maybe you should be more specific.
pizza in general does really well because of the high margins. however, you are also very correct about the supply. this vid is about the most profitable items, which is evident with the number of places offering it. :)
@@WilsonKLee I used to deliver for a pizza delivery service in Pennsylvania seems like it was doing well until economy in 2008. Seems like marketing changed alot since the early 2000s. We used to hand out menus and get so much business but the last time we tried it was useless. They are very old school and don't understand that when they opened in 1965 business was so much different and simple.

I tried it before but didn't really like it, because you've got to be up at like 3am and start baking to be ready for the morning rush. very different to find help during these hours. having said that, i know of a few bakeries that are super successful as well. Coffee shop needs to come with staple food items and you need volume for the business model to work.
its great margins, given high volume. fast and easy to make, requires little to no talent. really depends on location and whether the culture sees this as a staple item. where are you located?

Since the pandemic, I'd say it's the pizza shops that are the only segment of the industry that hasn't been hit and is actually benefitting from the shift. They already had delivery and takeout is common with pizza. They didn't have to pivot too much. When I work with restaurant owners, I teach them how to use systems to carve out a 15-20% profit margin. It takes discipline to follow the systems and make sure the systems are followed by management. This helps tremendously when terrible economic conditions and crises occur.

I have worked in restaurant industry for 10 years, It's a high profit margin but it's noway near 35% compare to bbtea or ice cream . It show a high ticket sales for sure but the return is nowhere near. In addition, high rent and supply will hold your return profit ( specially during Covid time).

as long as burrito is a staple food item in your area, i think its not bad. you should survey the gym people and see whether they are actually looking for burritos after a gym session. my assumption is that they will want to head home or they meal prep. know your audience's needs and give them what they need/want in their current state of mind.

Easy on/off highway, already zoned business. 200+ frontage road. Lot Is a bit irregular in that it is more long than deep. Wilson K Lee there is absolutely no big chain. Finnish people- or the Nordic/Scandinavian people don’t drink tea with a lot of milk. And chewing while drinking is weird for most of them. There were few independent store opened in the center/shopping mall but all closed. There’s just one truck still open in 3 summer months and 3-4 asian cafes have it on the menu and very basic.
Bubble tea is good only in Asian community.

something quick and simple to make. items like tacos are great because that are easy to eat with the hands and quick turnover. :)

What about cocktails and bars? It's F&B and does more margin than 20-30%
don't have too much experience with bars. if you are looking at just alcohol, the margins are substantially higher of course. however, its tough to get a crowd to come for drinks on a regular basis. you need to mix in other lower margin items and such. thats why f&b love serving drinks as its what makes them more profitable.

How about thai food cafe? In city like LA, on every block. In my city, only 5 thai restaurants in entire city. However I have yet to find someone who doesnt like these places. Also, only one bubble tea place which has me traveling 25 min per week to get there. Bubble tea so delicious!

If there is interest & demand in your city, then definitely a good option to consider. You could always add bubble tea to it as well.
You mention bubble tea shop being low investment start-up but can you tell me what is average cost for it? the information I found is telling me its not so low investment.
P.S. can you advice if opening bubble tea shop in the city where there is literally zero boba shops a good idea? is it good or bad to have no competition?
There are a lot of different factors in can bring up or down that number you're asking for. ie. location, build-out, franchise or not, country, etc. But including operating costs it could be ~$150K CAD all-in. It could be 1/2 of that depending on where you are and all those other factors though.
I wouldn't recommend opening a bubble tea shop in a place that isn't receptive to the drink. There being zero shops could be a telling story. You want to make sure there is actual demand from the market. IF there is demand and people are receptive to it, it may be a good opportunity to fill that need. But tread cautiously and rreally really do research first...

I have a ramen and sushi restaurant. We use to just do sushi but we redid our menu and added ramen. Ramen is great easy to teach our employee therefore like sushi we don’t need a skilled chef. Our business grew double and I rather do ramen then sushi. For my next business i rather do just Ramen

Pizza shop? Not anymore it really depends on the part of the world you live. Were I live in Pennsylvania everyone has pizza not just pizza places. Maybe you should be more specific.
pizza in general does really well because of the high margins. however, you are also very correct about the supply. this vid is about the most profitable items, which is evident with the number of places offering it. :)
@@WilsonKLee I used to deliver for a pizza delivery service in Pennsylvania seems like it was doing well until economy in 2008. Seems like marketing changed alot since the early 2000s. We used to hand out menus and get so much business but the last time we tried it was useless. They are very old school and don't understand that when they opened in 1965 business was so much different and simple.

Hey there... What about pastry/bakery/coffee shops??? Are these business profitable?
umm, i don't know too much about bakery/pastry. I tried it before but didn't really like it, because you've got to be up at like 3am and start baking to be ready for the morning rush. very different to find help during these hours. having said that, i know of a few bakeries that are super successful as well. Coffee shop needs to come with staple food items and you need volume for the business model to work.
