I think the fact this movie leans so heavily on my favorite aspect of batman year one, being the narration and the journals is just amazing this movie borrows aspects from every single batman origin story, earth one heavily, year one, long Halloween, and zero year being the ending with riddler flooding the city. Truly feels like a film created by batman fans.
"Murder, robberies, assault, 2 years later there all up, and now this...the city's eating itself...maybe it's beyond saving, but I have to try, push myself"🦇🦇🦇
Everytime I hear this, I can visualize the whole scene. The Batman caring a scared girl while his cape moves in the wind, carefully resting her down on the stretcher. Holding her hand as she's lifted off the ground until the last second to give her hope, to comfort her. That's Batman. Both the Batman and the music gets this beautiful arc that gives you an amazing feeling, at least it does to me. I was never that interested in "Something in The Way" before The Batman because I never had a visual representation of it. I didn't have a character to connect it to, but now I do. And it's in this masterful rendition of hope aswell. This movie made me feel ways I haven't felt as strong before. Thank you for uploading this🙏 Edit: I just had to edit this in because I noticed that as this song progresses, the lyrics fade away, giving this even more meaning. That voice of isolation and uncertainty is leaving as the feeling of hope ensues. THAT is great storytelling.
Batman becoming a symbol of both Hope for the people and Fear for criminals is how he should be written. Sure he’s dark and broody, but there’s also those moments where he watches over the people he protects. I remember reading a quote from someone “if you can’t see your Batman talking to and comforting a kid, then you just wrote the punisher in a Bat costume.”
Perfectly summed my thoughts. There's always a film that gives me further appreciation for a song by helping me associate it with a character arc, The Batman was that to "Something in The Way" I can't visualize Bruce's arc in this film or the Batman character in general now without thinking of this song. It perfectly represents his never-ending, almost futile crusade against crime in Gotham. But this version shows that at least, through hope Batman and the people of the city could have the strength to endure, to live to fight another day.
🦇I'm starting to see now, I have had an effect here, but not the one I intended. Vengeance won't change the past, not mine and anyone else's. I have to become more. Peak Batman. It’s like they just told me who batman was to some random guy...so iconic and accurate while holding a relatable and nice message for everyone. Oh my god Matt Reeves and co. You did it, you made...The Batman
In the beginning of the movie, the stranger saw Batman and said not to hurt him. In the ending, the little girl grabbed his hand, asking his presence and security, to not let her go. That was some character development!
The fact Matt Reeves not just bring back the batman to his darker and grittier style, but also reviving back the old music that was sang by late beloved kurt cobain, Impressive.
People don't seem to get that Batman is not necessarily dark and gritty. It's more of the situation is serious as opposed to the overall look of everything is that along with the situation
Epic film. The Batman looks like the Statue of Liberty with the flare, guiding people… I also feel this scene hit harder given everything we’ve all been through in the past couple of years & continuing to go through. Hope.

To be honest, the more I analyze this, the more I appreciate it and find the deeper meaning unlike in my first listen/watch. It makes me feel different than it did the first time for sure.
I was waiting so hard for someone to upload this version of the song even though I can still hear the helicopter faintly I think you did a great job most people would have the audio super distorted, I wish someone would release a remix of the song with violins and cellos added.
Honestly, that man blessed my childhood with the classic themes from “Up” & “The Incredibles” (along with countless other films) and continues to with this soundtrack.
It’s optimistic when you know what that ‘something in the way’ is. The original song is about being discarded by society. Not having a place and drifting along, homeless. For the Bruce, what was in the way was himself and his inner demons. Recognizing that and using it to become a leader and inspire hope transforms him. It’s a lesson everyone goes through. A piece of yourself holding you back or being that anchor towards your goals. You need to fall in order to get back up.
Alfred Pennyworth : Master Bruce. Stop. Master Bruce. BRUCE! Bruce Wayne : What are you... Alfred Pennyworth : I will not in good conscience allow you to go. You are outmatched by these assassins and... Bruce Wayne : I'm what? Alfred Pennyworth : ...you're not some hardened vigilante. You're a young man with a trust fund and too much anger. You are in over your head and I don't want this to be your end. Bruce Wayne : Alfred, who do you see when you look at me? The boy whose shoes you used to tie every morning, the teenager you drove to his first date? While you are here every night, I am out there... the ONLY THING between the innocent and the predatory... Alfred Pennyworth : You may be, but... Bruce Wayne : No, not 'may be'. I am. When the mugger or the thief stop to think twice, that is fear. That is what I am. That is why they hired assassins - because I am the reason the criminals breathe easier when the sun rises. So no, Alfred, I am NOT in over my head. Tonight will not be my end. But it will be theirs.
I like how in the beginning of the film, we see a Batman motivated by rage and vengeance. His only goal being to find the one who murdered his parents. During the events of the film, I like how they gave Batman a greater sense of purpose by showing him as a hero that Gotham needs and deserves. They did an excellent job showing how he had to face his past and accept that his parents weren't perfect, but still love them. For me, the most important part was how Batman realized that he wasn't fighting just for himself in order to settle a score, but rather for the whole of Gotham City so that crimes such as what happened to his family don't happen to others.
Batman: Wednesday, November 6th. The city is underwater. The National Guard is coming. Martial law is in effect, but the criminal element never sleeps. Looting and lawlessness will be rampant in the parts of the city no one can get to. I can already see things will get worse before they get better. And some will seize the chance to grab everything can. I’m starting to see now. I have had an effect here….but not the one I intended. Vengeance won’t change the past, mine or anyone else’s. I have to become more. People need hope. To know someone’s out there for them. The city’s angry, scarred, like me. Our scars can destroy us. Even after the physical wounds have healed. I would LOVE for Kevin Conroy to actually voice the monologues in this movie. That would be incredible! Or Roger Craig Smith, seeing as how he voiced acted as a younger version of Batman in his second year of crimefighting like Pattinson’s.
This was a masterpiece film, something I had not seen in a superhero film for a long time. Marvel had their time to shine in the sun, time for DC to make a comeback
The moment I heard the strings strumming in the song, that’s when I knew he was developing big turn like he was throughout the movie from someone bent up on anger and vengeance into becoming someone into a symbol of hope. Hearing that dialogue as he helped the girl onto the carrier and the music syncing into the scene as he watched the girl get carried away and Batman realizing what he must do now after the whole crisis event with riddler left me feeling tears wanting to come out due to how well done this film was, such a beautiful well done hero movie of the Batman and what Matt reeves had pulled off for this one. I can’t wait for the tv series’s and the next film on whoever he’s gonna be facing.

This is probably my new favorite Batman, I also like Ben Affleck and Christian Bale, but I think Pattinson has potential, I just see something in this version of Batman that’s different than the others, you can see how inexperienced he is, I like how they started him off as a young Batman who is trying his hardest to do the right thing, this music really fits the tone of the aftermath of a tragic event in Gotham City
They took such a dark and melancholic song and gave it just a sprinkle of hope, it perfectly fits the scene of a similarly dark Gotham given hope by Batman.
🦇I’m starting to see now. I have had an effect here. But not the one I intended. Vengeance, won’t change the past. Mine… or anyone else’s. I have to become more. People need hope. Batman and Nirvana is a dream I never expected to come true, it's not just a song that's in the movie, it's something significant to Batman's story and journey.
This version of BATMAN is awesome but don't forget Ben Affleck's BATMAN almost killed the Superman we want a separate DCEU BATMAN movie BATMAN v Deathstroke. Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy was beyond words. Michael Keaton's BATMAN introduced this craziness to us.
I like how the Batman character was set up in this movie, the director wanted the character to think outside of the box, instead of grieving over the loss of his parents, the director decides to make him want revenge and make sure other people in the city don’t end up like his parents did, very clever character developement

Please, no jokes when I say, tell me that I'm not the only one who'd love more Nirvana in The Batman 2 and/or 3
You aren’t.
Good. Thank you so much

They took such a dark and melancholic song and gave it just a sprinkle of hope, it perfectly fits the scene of a similarly dark Gotham given hope by Batman.
This song is made me who I really am, I’am the Batman🦇.
But I’ll never forget
Thank you.
I’m Vengeance.
I listen this masterpiece every day
Perfection.
Batman holding the girl's hand for as long as possible might be my favorite scene of the movie tbh
I wish i could say i'm making a difference
But i don't no
ya know, the lyrics dont make no sense, but its still a cool song
This movie will become a classic like Batman 1989
Man, I really wish Kurt was alive to hear this.
BEAUTIFUL
The ending of this movie was really good! Like just the way it was executed was just amazing! ❤️🦇
🦇I’m starting to see now. I have had an effect here. But not the one I intended. Vengeance, won’t change the past. Mine… or anyone else’s. I have to become more. People need hope. To know someone’s out there for them. This cities angry, and scarred. Like me. Our scars can destroy us… even after the physical wounds have healed. But if we can survive them. They can give us the power. To Endure. And the strength to fight.🦇
FINALLY! IT'S HERE! IT'S BEEN TOO LONG!
This is what we was waiting for This is exactly what we was waiting for 👍🏼🤝🏽💯
Batman and Nirvana is a dream I never expected to come true, it's not just a song that's in the movie, it's something significant to Batman's story and journey.
This song makes the theme for the Batman narrative voice!
This is gonna be awesome
Crazy how batman has had the 2 best endings in super hero movies. The dark knight and now this masterpiece🤌🏼
Avengers Infinity was also best 🙂
@@Commander_Shepard. lol! purple man dont make me laugh
My favourite part of the film
Night+ Rain+ Alone+ depression+ raising hand and looking at the sky and screaming because of sadness + listening to this song.
I am with you
"He's literally me"
Damn those violins are perfect!
"I'm starting to see...I have had an affect here."
imagine if kurt heard this in this movie
I wonder what Kurt would've reacted to his song being in a Batman Movie 😂
Thx
I like how the Batman character was set up in this movie, the director wanted the character to think outside of the box, instead of grieving over the loss of his parents, the director decides to make him want revenge and make sure other people in the city don’t end up like his parents did, very clever character developement
Man I was really waiting for this!!
Now I got a new track to push myself during workout. Thanks!! 🔥
The Batman music turns me into a different person
I love this movie so much
This is my favorite
Im vengeance
