Brad I have to say, that your video quality just keeps getting better and better. It's for this reason that I always look forward to your Friday morning video upload. 🍻 - Dave
In my head, The taxi I driver was a witness to something (bootlegging) and took his wife (who grabbed her favourite lamp) and kid (who lost the car) and ran to the mountains to hide. He took the gold case off his pocket watch to sell and dumped the rest in the privy and practised his pistol skills on the spoon.... It's great in my head lol 😮😂
That tune around the 15 minute mark is my favorite. Instantly relaxes me. That zeppelin car thingy is neat. And were those actual crystals?? Or glass? And i remember the 1980s. You could still easily get wheaties and buffaloes in your change.......even indians occasionally. Coin collecting has skyrocketed since. Wheaties are still prevalent, but buffaloes in your change is much more rare.......and indians are scarce. Cant wait for next friday.
Excellent Hunt there Brad. Love the Chandler pieces. Love the 1930s 1940s toy carr. I dig in the hills in Nevada it is rare you find any children toys. Congrats on the IHPs, Wheaties and the District of Columbia License pin. I just recently found an Idaho Chauffeurs License 1937. My very first one. Love everything you found Takw Care Brad
Could also be off a coloured glass vase. They tended to be 12" - 18" high, sometimes milk glass and usually decorated with a hand painted floral design. The crystals hung from small wires around a downturned frilled top. Very Victorian.
A city like DC should have an "archivist/historian" who could look up a numbered badge like that and give you a lot of detail on such a thing. Definitely worth a few emails and pictures sent.
Great finds, as always, Brad! Those crystals are called lusters and you could expect to find ten of them dangling around the outside of a lamp. I have several of those kinds of lamps. So great when you come across treasures the metal detector wouldn't be able to find!
I can imagine a taxi driver in the late twenties. A wife with a baby on the way. Then the stock market crashes. They sell anything they can and keep things they can carry. His badge, the watch, toys they bought before the market crash. I hope they lived a good and happy life. Thanks for another great journey!!
The toy is a 1934 Manoil diecast futuristic bus. Very cool find. Also since the house dated to around 1920s with crystal oil lamp, I'm guessing it was built with milled siding and stone foundation.
Oh, I bet mom was none too happy to have her spoon turned into target practice! But great find for you Brad and I really enjoyed this one! Your imagining of a dapper man with a pocket watch made me laugh because my grandpa who was a farmer in the hills of North Carolina would keep his pocket watch in his overall bibs and pull it out on occasion from a small pocket in the top of the bib. I do believe that just about every man had a pocket watch in the early 1900s.
Great fines, Brad I always love watching your show. You get out there and get down into the nitty-gritty even if it is in front of a privy and you’ll have to tell your wife. Thanks for giving you a heads up on the storm. It’s always nice to get out of there before you get wet, take care. Look forward to your next video for now.
I love your videos and watch them every week!! I think you're maybe mixing up a bunch of different times/eras as you find things and tell your imagined backstory (which I love- and do myself when I find things). Anyway, think about it- you said it was last occupied in the 1930's and 40's? Well- they HAD regular photography and all manner of household adornment-- and some folks had summer places. Just because someone lives on a mountain in the woods does not mean they're poor and living rustically. There are a lot of reasons to have a home in the woods. It's astonishing that the structure is utterly vanished- in less than 100 years. And although I know it's doubtful, I've read books by early Maine back-country settlers/rangers' families who would take a car pretty much anywhere it could go. I'm always impressed with your dedication and knowledge, craftsmanship-- as well as musicianship! Thanks for all you do- and for sharing it with us every week! Cheers from Maine!
Always so interesting the items you find! I love your view of the area's history/ the site's history! So fascinating! Your presentation is what is so interesting in your videos! I just could watch all day!!
Hi Brad. i've been watching your videos now for some time and i'd like to say i love the dedication you put into your videos. Keep up the great work!!!
There was an old piggery near where my Dad worked in the 70s and 80s, when not cutting firewood there, we’d dig back there and pull up metal toys, bottles and lots of silver spoons and forks, some of which he made into bracelets.
Love that chandelier drop. I know in my family, generations past had more money, so there are a lot of inherited objects that don't necessarily fit with say my grandparents' financial situation.
We watched this video and it went to another one but it wasn’t yours. My husband said “well if this isn’t Brad I don’t want to see it” and turned the channel !!! We love yours! Keep it up!! 😊
Great finds. What you mentioned as a turn buckle (9:15 in the video) may be part of a weathervane. It looks similar to a weathervane on our ancestral barn.
Brad, I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for the time and effort you put into making them... As a side note, I for one, am glad you don’t have a "fart box". 😊
What you were saying about photographs reminds me that I always thought that photography was one of the most significant inventions. You can literally see the past and in a way go back in time.
For sure, a home site! There's no telling what there is to find in these places! Let's hope you can go back and find some more good treasures! Keep on digging, and I'll catch you on the next. ✌️ 😊
Hey Brad, The Crystals may well have been from a chandelier. Or they might have been hanging from earrings, especially if they are plastic rather than glass. The item you referred to as a picture frame may have been part of an old collapsible camera used to hold the outermost lens.
Brad, I have thought about this before, but failed to mention it. I would love to see you write a young persons book about metal detecting, showing your finds and using your imagination to take them on a journey of possibilities. It would be a wonderful educational tool about the differences in money (like 1/2 coins!), the things people used in the "olden days" and how our lives are so different from those of the not too distant past. It would, as someone below says, "stir the imaginations" of kids too often spending a LOT of time away from the exciting possibilities of a walk in the woods. Think about it!
Greatly enjoy your videos and the scenery is breath taking , you live in a beautiful part of the world . Keep up the good work , From North East Victoria Australia
Near the middle of Shenandoah National Park is an area called Beldor. When I saw the DC license it made me think of the government agents that disappeared in Beldor. The folks of Beldor did not want to lose their homes to the Park. Beldor is still there, and still a hole in the middle of the Park.
brad the crystals would make beautiful ceiling fan pulls or wind chime drops (ps my wife and i do jewelry and wind chimes). love to see the zeppelin and badge restored my wife wondered it it was a bus or trolly driver badge??? looks like you are having fun
Hello Brad, What a awesome video! Nice finds to. My son Lew and I enjoyed watching this very much and watch all of your videos. Nice early taxi (or Limo driver)license ! Awesome find and rare to find them where you are. 🙂 My son and I have found those toy blimp cars digging in dumps. Sometimes they are damaged like yours or they are intact. Nice find! We are looking forward to watching more of your videos. We wish you good health and luck. Take care and happy treasure hunting to you.----Jeffrey Hull Jr. (Jeff & son Lew)
I LOVE THAT YOU PUT THE TERRARIUM BACK! A true conservationist knows what to take and what to leave.
When I was a Camp Fire Girl in the 60s, our motto was, "Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints."
Brad I have to say, that your video quality just keeps getting better and better. It's for this reason that I always look forward to your Friday morning video upload. 🍻 - Dave
Couldn’t agree more!
That public vehicle badge. . .maybe frim U.S. Dept of Revenue during federal Prohibition? A mystery, perhaps. . .
In my head, The taxi I driver was a witness to something (bootlegging) and took his wife (who grabbed her favourite lamp) and kid (who lost the car) and ran to the mountains to hide.

It's great in my head lol 😮😂
😅👍
It was great in my head too!😅
Sounds plausible😅 I like it
LMBO
Nice!
Not waiting to the end to comment. That D.C. tag was amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it. Wow on the car, too. Watching from Athens, Georgia.
Working in the post office as i do I recognize a po box key when i see one. And we always give the customer two.
I love the crystals.
Brad you can't possibly know how much enjoyment I get out of your videos
One of the very few channels that you can hit the like button 10 seconds into the video thank you for all of the hard work you put in for this..
I couldn't agree more. 🙂. So much better than that bland aquchiga man. 🤐.
I love the oddball finds. They stir the imagination..
My grandmother had a set of table lamps that had those crystals hanging from the base of the shade.
That tune around the 15 minute mark is my favorite. Instantly relaxes me. That zeppelin car thingy is neat. And were those actual crystals?? Or glass? And i remember the 1980s. The crystals you found could also belong to a lamp for a ladies vanity... Absolutely love your show... Can't wait till the next one every week...

Gotta add Aquachigger to that list. I'll check out the camping guy!
Rumrunners maybe ?
Brad, You always keep it interesting! Cheers!

In my Vermont childhood we didn't have a key for the front door. In fact when my Grandmother sold the place, no one could ever remember one.
I like the DC plate as well. Great video this week, my friend.
You, Camping with Steve, and the Scottish Detectorist make every week on RUclips a great week! Loved the video.
THANK YOU BRAD👍🙏>>>💚
First comment! lol. I look so forward to these videos. Gmmd, quarter hoarder, & Hoover boys. the holy trinity✊🏽

I love your commentary as you find items. I learn so much and it keeps me thinking. Thank you for good quality videos.
Great detecting ! Thanks for bringing everyone with you to enjoy the finds !
Hello Brad. Sweet items. The Crystal's were probably from a desk lamp. The badge is cool. Happy swingin n diggin. Have a wonderful weekend.👍😘

Happy Friday, it’s crystal clear and right on target. Stay dry, taxi!
The gauge/signal meter has proven to be a great add! ❤

Hi Brad. i've been watching your videos now for some time and i'd like to say i love the dedication you put into your videos. Keep up the great work!!!
Always a joy to see all of the lush green in your videos.
Some oil lamps had those cut glass ornaments on them.
Came here to say that. My grandparents had one with perhaps 20 of these things dangling from it. I used to get yelled at for flicking them
Another great day up in the mountains, thanks
Nice job Brad!!!! Love it
Another great show! Keep on Truckin!

Great bumper music. Thanks for the video.
Thank you Brad for the adventure and seeing some nice finds especially the crystal light decorations !
Always a treat!
Great finds on the hunt today. I love the crystals and the toy car. I’ve never seen one like that.

Most excellent episode this Friday. For me, the child’s old car is the find of the day. I save all the toy cars I dig. I’ve detected hundreds.
Brad ,the spoon would have been used as a hook to hang up something.
The spoon bowl goes to the top with a nail hammered through .
Nice Finds Brad! Good luck in the hunt! JJ
I enjoy all your videos and look forward to many more.
Keep up the great work 👍 👏
I love that spoon SOOOOO much!!!!!!!
Another good job Brad keep up the good work enjoy your videos
Great finds today♥️
Great finds. What you mentioned as a turn buckle (9:15 in the video) may be part of a weathervane. It looks similar to a weathervane on our ancestral barn.
Spoon with hole, I think that is best explanation I have heard, probaly a 22.. You are very informative, an archeological detective.
Very awesome finds congratulations 👏👏

Not gonna lie. When you said “public vehicle”, my first thought was revenuers after someone’s still. 😂
Hey Brad, I had a big time watching you find so many different things! Good times…good times in deed! Happy weekend to you and the family. 💞TK in KY

Interesting finds, beautiful forest for the home 🏡
Another great video!Keep em coming, sir
That 1314 object quite possibly a Hansom Cab license that would have been pinned to the horse tack.
I’m so bummed I’m teaching this Thursday Night. I’d love to see you on QH livestream.
Great video. I love the frame and spoon.✌️♥️♥️
brad the crystals would make beautiful ceiling fan pulls or wind chime drops (ps my wife and i do jewelry and wind chimes). love to see the zeppelin and badge restored my wife wondered it it was a bus or trolly driver badge??? looks like you are having fun
Your videos remind me of the book, McElligot’s Pool, by Dr Seuss. It is the stories you imagine from everything you find! I really enjoy your videos.
