If you are thinking about your dream trip to Portugal send an e-mail to Patricia from Sagres Vacations (Patricia.C@SagresVacations.com). She will take care of you and all your needs! This is by far the best way to travel as a tourist in Portugal!
There is no end to castles and monasteries in Portugal. I love it! Nazaré is a charming little city. You didn't mention how all the old (and some young) women wear the seven-layer petticoats. I imagine they might now wear all those layers in summer but they certainly do in the winter... with bare legs and socks. Those ladies have been running around with rooms for rent signs for years and years... and I've seen one lady walk ahead people in their car, for blocks and blocks to take them to her place! It's kind of adorable. Again... charming! I was in Nazaré in February and those waves were incredible. Sunset at the lighthouse... unbelievable!! Looking forward to your take on Coimbra... I haven't been yet. Obrigada ~
Hi Beautiful couple 💕 I follow you guys through your amazing adventures from the very start. Today I shared your vlogs with my husband we were very impressed with all your travels and the amazing editing throughout your videos . We are planning to travel and possibly reside in beautiful Madeira - Funchal island 😎 so it's so fantastic to view your vlogs on Portugal from all the fantastic beaches, restaurants delicious foods to all the mind blowing locations 😎 which has simply made me fall in love more with this wonderful paradise... Thanks so much for sharing 💖

Hi guys! We are Toby and Kelly from the US. We are looking for a place to retire to in about 8 years or so, and Portugal is on our list to consider. We found your vlog about a month ago, and now, after dinner every night, we both lie on the couch and watch 3-5 of your vlogs! We started back at the beginning so we are watching in order. You are really helping us with our decision making! We love your vlogs and we now feel like we know you guys! You are our (much younger) (and cooler) friends! :) Thanks for all the great vlogs, and see you tonight! :)
I'm a big fan and i'm watching this channel almost from start, only now i tried the 4K and is another world OMG. Thank you for the amazing footages, give me felling like i'm traveling along you guys.
I've spent my vacations in Nazare all my life. I call it my summer home.I was expecting you to show more of those narrow beautiful streets. The lift to Sitio and the seven skirts of the ladies. Fish is a delicacy in Nazare in most of the restaurants. Thank you for the video and for the Nazare canyon explanation. Can't wait for Coimbra!
@@ninobk196 off season might be interesting too, depending on your life style. Just cheaper, calmer...just like living in the peaceful countryside, but by the ocean.
As a former Portuguese living in the Netherlands, we still spend most of our Summer Holidays in Portugal. Last August, we visited a few locations that we either didn't know well, or didn't know at all. The most amazing was Bacalhoa Buddha Eden on our way to Baleal near Peniche. You should check this out. Amazing outdoors museum. In fact a huge Garden of a wine farm (Quinta). Buddhas, Terracota armies and Afrikan metal and stone statues. Quinta da Bacalhoa is also another known winery and Palace near Azeitao. Joe Berardo, the owner has 2 of these wineries but Azian and African art is a bigger hobby than the wine business.
Great editing from 1:54 to 3:35; great choice in music as well. Sometimes you have demonstrated, it's better to keep commentary out and let the pictures and music tell the story. Great job.
I visited the Batalha monastery for the first time when I was 7 or 8 and I got completely overwhelmed by the vaulted ceiling, its height, sense of verticality, the intricate carved flying buttresses and that magnificent carved arch at the entrance to the Capelas Imperfeitas. At the time of course I didn’t know anything about these concepts, but it really impacted me. It impacted me so much that even today I sometimes travel just with the sole intention of visiting gothic cathedrals. I’ve been in almost all of the great French gothic cathedrals (Amiens, Chartres, Reims, Tours, etc) just because of that first visit to the Batalha Monastery almost 30 years ago. Thank you so much for filming it so well and for sharing it!
HI there, OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos. I live in Northern California and I am originally from Terceira, Acores Portugal. I want to retire there and I was going to come visit in December 23-30 but I might not be able to leave the country because of this flu. Anyway, I would love to live in Figueiro de Foz, Portugal but Nazare looks amazing too, need to retire by the ocean. I would really be willing to rent a room.
You should read a bit of History of the mosteiro da Batalha. It was there first erected to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese army over the Castilians who were trying to take the Portuguese kingdom. The battle of Aljubarrota is in it self worth mentioning.
Nazaré is so much more than presented in this video guys Its unique and so beautiful its much more than big waves surfing and was always very known for its town beach for vacation and carnival and traditions etc i´ m a bit disappointed but maybe you will see Nazaré with another eyes I hope one day! Love your videos anyway !

I love Nazarè but you don't want a house there unless you are ok with mouldy walls. Although if it's a newer house you may not have that problem. Don't forget to be there during the evening in the summer for great street food. My wife and I love your channel keep it up👊😁😁

Nazaré fun fact: back when the fishing boats were powered by men rowing: a fight with one of those chaps wouldn't and well. Those son's of bitches were beyond tough. My dad gave me that advice.
You do such great editing, but I've asked before if you could add the name of places and restaurants on the screen. As an example of this video, when you are speaking of the Batalha Monastery, the 'Closed Captions' come up with 'Battalion Monastery'. Then it takes me quite a while to discover that it's really Batalha. Love your videos, but would LOVE them much more if you added the names of things you're talking about. Thanks. Steve
Hey Amalie and Joen! will be there next week with my wife - If you guys want to have some dinner let me know - Thanks for the inspiration- it's because of you two we are looking for a home to purchase :)
Nazare is probably my favorite place on earth, Kim and I can't wait to go back there again. Once this COVID crap is done, it's our plan to work remotely from there, maybe about 10 minutes drive north of the North beach, for most of the winter. Winter seems way to long in Canada, and winter in Portugal would feel like springtime for us. We love your videos by the way, would love to go drinking with you guys someday :)
Another quality video promoting our country. Although I prefer those where you go places blindly and finding things out by yourselves. Don't get me wrong, the folks at Sagres look like they provide a good service and Joel seems to be very knowledgeable, but for me it ruins the whole experience as a traveler, it's like playing a video game with cheat codes. Still, keep em coming.
and Batalha signals the Portuguese and English Victory against Castille in 1355 with the famous Batalha de Aljubarrota. Nearby there's Alcobaça where Pedro and Inês are interred
The Portuguese Atlantic rollers have to be respected. I had a nasty accident at Guincho Beach in 1995, another surfers beach about 140km south from Nazare, near Cascais. Worth a visit. I was smashed into the sea bed and kept under the water for longer than I wanted. Powerful undertow aswell. Be careful. Stunning beaches though.
So, you learned everything about the Batalha monastery except the most important part: why it was build in that place and why it's called Batalha. That's the interesting part.
You should visit also the Alcobaça Monastery with the tombs of Don Pedro and his lover Ines de Castro, who was crowned Queen after she was killed by Pedro's father. That is Portugal's Romeo and Juliet on steroids. Read it. Visit the Quinta das Lagrimas in Coimbra where she was killed.

Hey guys! Loving your vids. We’re planning a trip to Portugal next year with the aim to possibly retire there in a few years. And we’ve been binging your stuff as preparation. We’re scheduled to be there the last week of May and the first week of June. We’ve booked our business class tickets (thanks to your video on the subject) and booked an Air BnB and a hotel for Lisbon since we’ll be finishing our trip there and with the June festival we figured we’d better book those. But I was hoping you might be able to give us advice about the rest of the trip. We’re thinking about keeping it flexible and just finding accommodations along the way. Is that wise or should we book places? We’re flying into Lisbon but heading north immediately to spend a couple days on the Silver Coast, then to Porto, then back south to check out places like Coimbra, then to the Algarve, then finish up with 4 days in Lisbon. We contacted Sagres Vacations but they were a little pricey for this trip. Would love to work with them at some point. I’m sure we have other questions or will but right now I’m just wondering about whether to book stuff or not. We had booked the wine barrel rooms but Sagres actually talked us out of those saying they had a lot of complaints about bees and that there is actually a better vineyard down the road. Anyway thanks for the videos. You guys are so much fun to watch. We feel like we know you and have really enjoyed spending hours upon hours watching you.
I promise you will be much happier not in the barrel rooms, no matter how cool they look, the bees are the reason everyone leaves unhappy from there. I would not book while you are there as if it's busy (and we hope it is and this world is more normal) you won't find places to stay like you want, or any sort of deal either. Please note fuel is very expensive and the tolls on the highways are very high. That is why a lot of people love Joel, they don't have to pay for any of that stuff :) Parking in the cities is very difficult as well. Still here if you need me for anything!
Sagres Vacations so you think we should book accommodations now? I was kind of leaning that way but the rest of the group wanted to keep it flexible in case we decided we wanted to stay in one area longer to explore or maybe not stay somewhere as long. As for cars we were thinking about mostly doing trains and buses and just renting cars for day trips. Thanks for your help! Any insights are greatly appreciated.
@@imagesbyjk I would make reservations before leaving on your trip. Please note the buses and trains will only get you so far. some of the places we had planned for you can't be reached very easily. While there are stops in towns, the hotels are not that close to any of the stops. Especially in Douro Valley and in the smaller towns. Its why I had set up the tours the way I did, so you had transportations to and from the hotels we had thought would be great for you guys.
I absolutely loved this video- beautiful area and great food as always. I just need to let you know that your video is tied to only Trump ads and I can not separate them from your video. Do you have any say over what advertising they put on your vlogs? It is upsetting to see anything about that moron. I find him totally repulsive. (Just saying). Thanks for another fabulous video. I had several good laughs!
So... You went do Nazaré and Batalha, and don't went to the best town there. São Pedro de Moel. To me it's one of the most beautifull towns in Portugal. It's so small, beautifull and peacefull (except in the winter near the ocean) that it just melts your heart. Nazaré is ugly, messy and just too many people.
HMMM... someone mentioned pregnancy; I rewatched the video and Amalia keeps that white purse on her lap allot, sits close to the table and that "full" dress seems contraindicated with Joen wearing a T-shirt. HMMM?

Do you have any say over what advertising they put on your vlogs? It is upsetting to see anything about that moron. I find him totally repulsive. (Just saying). Thanks for another fabulous video. I had several good laughs!
That's youtube's algorithms unfortunately.
A Nazaré é mesmo uma localização incrivel, ansiosa de registar a minha passagem por lá ❤️ ruclips.net/video/2FnBMysTFKw/видео.html
So... You went do Nazaré and Batalha, and don't went to the best town there. São Pedro de Moel. To me it's one of the most beautifull towns in Portugal. It's so small, beautifull and peacefull (except in the winter near the ocean) that it just melts your heart.
Nazaré is ugly, messy and just too many people.
hmmm não
Falta a mítica piscina de são Pedro Moel!

Batalha Monastery marks our biggest victory against the Spanish, They were humiliated and we kept our independence....
Joen, you must try licor de merda :D
HMMM... someone mentioned pregnancy; I rewatched the video and Amalia keeps that white purse on her lap allot, sits close to the table and that "full" dress seems contraindicated with Joen wearing a T-shirt. HMMM?
