    Nice footage, I used to drive the road all the way to Kantishna when I worked at a gold camp back there across Moose Creek. The worse drive is going in and out through Eielson Pass. That road is all clay and when it's wet from rain, it is very slippery. Also if you meet a bus driving through Eielson and Polychrome pass, the buses have the right of way and you have to back up to an outcropping. Very scary

    • @AloneinRemoteAlaska
      @AloneinRemoteAlaska  Год назад +1

      Hi John! I can only imagine how treacherous that road is as the road I live on is clay. When it rains or after the spring thaw the road is so slippery that unless you're at a crawl, even in 4WD you might slide right off the road. Glad that you were able to come out of that situation unscathed! And happy that you liked the video. Looking forward to catching up on your channel too! 🤗

    Such a delight to see and I mean SEE you and hear your voice again dear friend. That was like having a big warm hug with someone youve been missing fod quite a while. Was aware that you were off in adventures with visiting family & friends but there was still an empty spot that you were vacant from. Thankyou for sharing the experience of the Denali area with its rivers and lush landscape and wild life ..yaaaaay . The glaciers were simple magnificent. Having experienced being up close to the Franz Josef glacier on the West Coast of Sth Island New Zealand, my homeland. I know the awesomeness of these majestic creations. So glad you got to be there with your friend. Where did you fly out of ti do that helicopter tour?
    Can't wait for next weeks reveal with your son & his partner ❤ Have BOTH my cataracts removed and healed yaaaaay thank God for good doctors and good sight. Amazing to see if from a whole new perspective! Livestreams will be starting again Tuesday 9/5 @ 5pm AKST. I hope to see you there. 🤗

      Hi Norm! Thank you! Yes, you are correct about the road not opening for quite some time. My understanding is that the road was dropping at the rate of an inch a year for a few years, then it rapidly began to drop and inch a month, then week, and before the park knew it, it was an inch an hour until it just completely slid off. Hope nobody was hurt when it happened. Hope you are doing well also. 🤗

    Hey looking forward to seeing what you are up to
    5 hour bus trip is quite long. Btw is that a humongous mushroom?

    • @AloneinRemoteAlaska
      @AloneinRemoteAlaska  Год назад +1

      Hi Sarah! I hope you are doing well. The trip flew by so quickly. There is so much to see and so much wildlife that I didn't even realize the time had gone by so fast. The mushroom was big but maybe not as big as it appears in the video. About 5 inches across and about 3 inches tall. Not edible though. 🤗💛

    That helicopter ride to and over the glaciers was amazing. Walking on a glacier has been on my bucket list for years. Thank you for sharing. I know this was a few months back but do remember the helicopter company you used? Thank you. ❤

    Have you been Salmon fishing? Any luck? The old station wagon you passed on highway. Growing up my parents had one like this. Awesome memories for me traveling with family in that vehicle. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for the video, Alone! I would love to take that bus tour some day! Staying at the cabin would be great too, that was inside the park? Can you see Denali from your property? I used to think that was the mountain in the view from your property but I'm thinking now that must be a different mountain. Not sire why I thought that. Looking forward to the video with your kids! ❤ Take care.

      Hi Tiff! Glad you enjoyed the video. The cabin was nice, but wasn't inside the park. There are some cabins for rent just outside of the park, but this one is about 100 miles away, at the McClaren River Lodge. The mountains behind my cabin are actually located in the Wrangle St. Elias national park which is over 250 miles away from Mt. McKinley (Mount Denali). 🤗💛

    Hello Alone, I am waiting on good light for photography and it has warmed up in NW Minnesota also. But soon this will change here also. In six weeks, I head north to photograph animals in Jasper and Banff National Parks. I hope you will join me in my videos for this experience. Like you, I finally added a membership feature for my videos. Maybe it will grow a bit with time. Thanks as always for bringing us to your neck of the woods. Moose

I believe you have so much to offer your channel members, outside of your normal content. This is fabulous. Glad you popped over to see what was happening here. 🤗

    Maybe try to accumulate 2 or 3 years worth of wood. I would be concerned that the wood they are going to deliver may not be seasoned. If you have at least a years worth extra then you'll know it will be seasoned by the time you use it. It will also be good to have extra just in case it's an extended cold stretch. It was 46 degrees here (PA) last night. They are going to heat it up in the 90's in a couple days.

      The primary wood used to heat homes in Alaska is birch and spruce. They dry a lot faster than the hardwoods of back east. We heated with wood when I was growing up in the 50s and 60s back in Connecticut. I’ve lived here in Alaska now for almost 45 years. Right now I’m at our off-road recreational cabin about 60 miles from Denali. You can’t drive here except in an ATV / side by side in the summer or snowmachine in the winter. The trail has many places with close to two feet of water in many places. We can see 2 mountain ranges from our home.
