The Court Jester actually had a lot more power then people realise, they were often close to the King and were among some of the only ones outside of the King’s personal friends and family, that could actually make fun and criticise him, they were even expected to do this and King’s would actually listen to and take advice from them. The only time I’ve seen it portrayed like this was in the Akira Kurosawa film ‘Ran’, amazing film by the way, wherein the old Warlord has effectively a Court Jester, but the Court Jester criticises him and makes fun of him and the Warlord actually takes him seriously.

well this.. This gives me inspiration for THREE characters I’m writing, though I am by no means a writer, and another one not from the same universe. The one is actually in a position that closely resembles a jester, the second is “comedic relief” character but he is much more than just that, and the third is an antagonist but the story focus switches and so he becomes the protagonist later

Okay this might just be me, but it sounds like the jester was buried alive. Maybe the king ordered to have him buried alive because he knew the jester was a threat? Or maybe he ordered to have him murdered, but whoever "killed" him didn't finish the job and buried him, thinking he was dead. Either way, the jester was already exiled, so it seems like the king knew that he was planning to steal his power. Also, what if the jester was poisoning the king? He says that the king is "slowly dying" but he never actually states why he's dying. My theory is that the jester has been using a certain type of poison that makes the king's health deteriorate over a long period of time. That way, everyone will think he's just dying from some mysterious chronic illness and no one will suspect the jester of trying to kill him. I am SO curious to know what the actual story is bc it's super interesting
Sounds like he was put in some other plane of existence. The nibbling thought might be some higher being. The tearing tearing part may be him ripping the reality apart. He is human, so he feels immense pain from it. The leaves and vines are the last thing left. He loses control to the being and burns the kingdom down. Ur theory made me think of this, and I think yours is really good!

To me it sound more like something like this . After his exile , the jester found himself in front of a demon-like sealed creature. The jester fuse him to free him , two becoming one. The jester get the new memories of this being mixed with his and inside-out , this New person find himself filled with confusion as they free themself from the demon's seal , now having a physical body. The simple thought was brought by the now other Half of the jester ; revenge. Together they sneak back into the kingdom to discover that the king is ill and soon will die . They start to make people think and inform them that "he"'s back and lead a revolution. When he talk to the king he was sneaking into the King's room and had a conversation before the king died of his illness in front of him. While the revolution take over the castle the jester take the crown and talk offer his New reign as the new king. I went with a sort of fantasy set up here because i was making a dnd campaign while listening to this
The king died without leaving any heirs, so he left his trustful jester as his successor, but his cousin decided to assume the throne despite the king's wishes and the sickness that was slowly going to turn him into another dead king. The jester, being the rightfull successor of the throne and the only one allowed to contradict the king with no fear of being executed, called out the new king in contradicting the wishes of his cousin. The king obviously didn't like that, but he couldn't execute the jester, so he was put into exile. The jester kept conspiring against the current king and doing what he could to make the people know about thking's illness. Soon, the king heard about what was happening. Publicy executing the jester for that would still go against the laws and a bad move politicaly, so he paid mercenaries to bury him alive. The jester was poisoned to sleep and then buried, but something woke him up and he was able to crawl out of his grave and start a rebelion against the king by making every messed up thing about the government public. The king was executed by his own people and the jester was put into power to transfer the current system to a better one for the people of the kingdom.

As an author/animator, whenever I find songs that I like and that give me inspiration, I feel like I've found precious jewels in a desolate mine; and this song doesn't fall short of that. I especially love songs with a decipherable storyline, if you know what I mean. I can envision my own characters with this song, and it's so freaking cool. It tells a compelling story that makes you want to play it over and over again. I wish I'd found this sooner. TL;DR: I love this!!
Sounds like a jester who was betrayed and killed by the king, brought back by some ancient power. The jester, now imbued with this power, seeks out revenge. Whatever it is that brought them back, it's skewed their perception of reality, the way the view the world. Have they reached understanding of a new reality? Or have they become corrupted? Well, that all depends on how the story ends :)

Fuck yeah! Jester! I keep a place for them, as a person who enjoys entertaining others and giving mocking advice. This guy sounds like he was put into a different plane of reality, with the whole hibernal state part. Using the newfound abilities bestowed by some dark being there, he rips through. (1:38 btw) He uses this to go through.being human, he feels pain. He loses control and succumbs to the being. Controlled by the monster on a different plane, he tears the kingdom apart. The being leaves him, controlling a burned kingdom.

The Jester and the King were friends, but when the king grew ill he told the jester that when he passes the throne would be given to him. He also put that in the will of the kingdom, so pretty much everyone knew the jester was gonna be king when he died. *(As he was widowed and had no offspring, as well as the jester practically helped rule the kingdom by keeping the kings hopes high and other cheesy stuff)* Some higher ups were like, "Nah, we want the throne. Sabotage the jesterrr" so the close higher ups exiled the jester, saying the king agreed to it also. Of course the jester was like "Ayo, my bro would never." and came back as the lyrics *"though my exile still stands, i heard my duty call to me"* state. Anyway jester and king had a heart to heart *(Mostly the jester asking him "why you exile me? You're gonna die anyway bro, why act like you don't want me as king anymore?" and the king being like "what you talking about? The jester then proceeded to stroll into the castle, somehow got past the higher ups and guards, and had a final boss fight with the king. *(well not really a boss fight, the king was basically a corpse now.)* In the kings last moments alive the truth about the king’s sickness comes out, he was just a victim of a bad cold or something, not poisoned or anything, and the higher ups was telling lies on the Jester. bros had a final heart to heart and the king died, making the Jester the new ruler of the kingdom. . . . *(its up to you to make up what happens next. I like to think the jester merked the higher ups for telling lies and the kingdom had a happily ever after with laughter as its ruler. )*
When I heard this song, it instantly grabbed my attention. Amazing piece of work, it connected me to this story in no time. It's rare when songs make me not just listen to them but also feel them. And that's definitely the case.
Reminds me of my D&D character Raziel. Hes a Bard raised in a band of thieves and being used as their prime distraction while they robbed people blind. ....I swear he's ridiculous when it comes to talking his into places or making a quick buck. In the last campaign, he talked himself and the barbarian into a castle to hunt down a fortune teller. He proceeded to convince all the guards the fortune teller was going crazy, and if the fortune teller were to act out, or pretended not to recognize him,, it'd be totally normal- But he was also super dangerous, so if he acts like that then they should be prepared to help restrain him. Him and the Barbarian proceeded to kidnap the fortune teller, sap him for info, and then killed him even though he led the fortune teller to believe they wouldn't if he cooperated. They then looted his body for everything he was worth and ran back to the party that, at this point, had split three times.
I know this has been out for a while, so I'm late to the party, but I gotta say I love the art that goes along with this song. The pure innocence portrayed by that jester, sitting on a golden throne while ruin surrounds. Peak. Props.
Holy guacamole this song is good. The vocaloid voice helps a lot to disconnect us from the jester, it adds to the uneasiness of the whole song. He's supposed to have a cherry voice right? But he doesn't. He has one that doesn't show any emotion. I have a character that has the same vibe as the entire music. Most important things to know are: Rosits, the Clawthorn's and the Ancients. Rosits are basically human in appearance, minus the flowers in their head (though they can produce a human looking head), the Clawthorns are a family of Rosits that basically took control of all realities and the Ancients are the first gods to ever exist. Now to himself. This little dude guy is named Zacarias. This lil dude is also the jester of the Ancient Kingdom, who was created by the first gods. Zacarias survived by body swapping several times trhu several hundreds years, and as a side effect, and has basically fucked up his soul. Trhu body swapping this dude fused his soul with the soul of the previous owner of the body, and used said souls as a magic source. Because Zack did this his soul and body are at another level of destroyed. His voice is robotic, he tries putting emotion into it but only sounds like a robot modulating it's voice, his hair and flowers are plain white, all the souls inside him are under a inexplicable level of stress, his skin and petals are as white as his hair and flowers, his body literally can't produce the chemicals necessary for that, and the only thing that has color is his eyes and one single flower, who are a blinding blue, burning with the souls of those he stole the body of. You'd say he's a bad person right? How about you fuse him with the literal idea of Chaos and make him a puppet of Chaos? Wouldn't this be fun? In a nutshell, he became the jester and caretaker of the daughter of the Clawthorn's, Rose and Tulip. He one time accidentally hurt their daughter. Let's just say Rose wasn't pleased with that and used a Null Spell to negate the petals of Zack. Zack literally lost his soul, and the coupled with Null Sector death (basically a reality collapsing on itself, it sets the whole story off), basically killing him with a inexistent source of magic, caused a rift to open to the Earthbreaker dimension, where Kaos the god of Chaos resides in, and the god of Chaos just took hold of his soul. You know. To cause chaos. The rest that happens is the story itself. And let's just say that Zacarias wanted a bigger audience than only a family. If someone actually read this, yes I did the ultimate writer move and just dumped a whole bunch of lore into a random video. I love this story and I'll talk about it in any chance I get.

The Court Jester actually had a lot more power then people realise, they were often close to the King and were among some of the only ones outside of the King’s personal friends and family, that could actually make fun and criticise him, they were even expected to do this and King’s would actually listen to and take advice from them. The only time I’ve seen it portrayed like this was in the Akira Kurosawa film ‘Ran’, amazing film by the way, wherein the old Warlord has effectively a Court Jester, but the Court Jester criticises him and makes fun of him and the Warlord actually takes him seriously.
Uh, not sure if this counts, but I think they did the same concept in Stormlight Archive, but instead of Court Jester, it was the King's Wit. Although, I think he insulted everyone and spent his days travelling more than he helped.

Sometimes a concept will grab me by the ear and compell me to make an entire story around it. This would make a wonderful surprise BBEG for a short D&D campaign... But I think anyone who knows me would instantly guess the harmless jester is secretly an eldritch being of unimaginable power, based on my tastes. ahaha Nonetheless, I could definitely spin a court intrigue around the crumbling throne and the factions that circle like vultures.

well this.. This gives me inspiration for THREE characters I’m writing, though I am by no means a writer, and another one not from the same universe.
The one is actually in a position that closely resembles a jester, the second is “comedic relief” character but he is much more than just that, and the third is an antagonist but the story focus switches and so he becomes the protagonist later

He doesn't know where he is and can't remember what happened, but he suddenly wakes up "entrenched in ancient earth" in a "post-hibernal state". Maybe the king ordered to have him buried alive because he knew the jester was a threat? Or maybe he ordered to have him murdered, but whoever "killed" him didn't finish the job and buried him, thinking he was dead. Either way, the jester was already exiled, so it seems like the king knew that he was planning to steal his power.
Also, what if the jester was poisoning the king? He says that the king is "slowly dying" but he never actually states why he's dying. My theory is that the jester has been using a certain type of poison that makes the king's health deteriorate over a long period of time. That way, everyone will think he's just dying from some mysterious chronic illness and no one will suspect the jester of trying to kill him. I am SO curious to know what the actual story is bc it's super interesting
Sounds like he was put in some other plane of existence. The nibbling thought might be some higher being. The tearing tearing part may be him ripping the reality apart. He is human, so he feels immense pain from it. The leaves and vines are the last thing left. He loses control to the being and burns the kingdom down.

To me it sound more like something like this . After his exile , the jester found himself in front of a demon-like sealed creature. The jester fuse him to free him , two becoming one. The jester get the new memories of this being mixed with his and inside-out , this New person find himself filled with confusion as they free themself from the demon's seal , now having a physical body. The simple thought was brought by the now other Half of the jester ; revenge. Together they sneak back into the kingdom to discover that the king is ill and soon will die . They start to make people think and inform them that "he"'s back and lead a revolution. When he talk to the king he was sneaking into the King's room and had a conversation before the king died of his illness in front of him. While the revolution take over the castle the jester take the crown and talk offer his New reign as the new king.
I went with a sort of fantasy set up here because i was making a dnd campaign while listening to this

The king died without leaving any heirs, so he left his trustful jester as his successor, but his cousin decided to assume the throne despite the king's wishes and the sickness that was slowly going to turn him into another dead king. The jester, being the rightfull successor of the throne and the only one allowed to contradict the king with no fear of being executed, called out the new king in contradicting the wishes of his cousin.
The king obviously didn't like that, but he couldn't execute the jester, so he was put into exile. The jester kept conspiring against the current king and doing what he could to make the people know about thking's illness. Soon, the king heard about what was happening. Publicy executing the jester for that would still go against the laws and a bad move politicaly, so he paid mercenaries to bury him alive.
The jester was poisoned to sleep and then buried, but something woke him up and he was able to crawl out of his grave and start a rebelion against the king by making every messed up thing about the government public. The king was executed by his own people and the jester was put into power to transfer the current system to a better one for the people of the kingdom.

I especially love songs with a decipherable storyline, if you know what I mean. I can envision my own characters with this song, and it's so freaking cool. He uses this to go through.being human, he feels pain. He loses control and succumbs to the being. Controlled by the monster on a different plane, he tears the kingdom apart. The being leaves him, controlling a burned kingdom.

The Jester and the King were friends, but when the king grew ill he told the jester that when he passes the throne would be given to him. He also put that in the will of the kingdom, so pretty much everyone knew the jester was gonna be king when he died.
*(As he was widowed and had no offspring, as well as the jester practically helped rule the kingdom by keeping the kings hopes high and other cheesy stuff)*
Some higher ups were like, "Nah, we want the throne. Sabotage the jesterrr"
so the close higher ups exiled the jester, saying the king agreed to it also. Of course the jester was like "Ayo, my bro would never." and came back as the lyrics *"though my exile still stands, i heard my duty call to me"* state. Anyway jester and king had a heart to heart
*(Mostly the jester asking him "why you exile me? You're gonna die anyway bro, why act like you don't want me as king anymore?" and the king being like "what you talking about? I would never do such a thing to the person I care the most about. i know I'm dying, and I haven't changed my mind." )*
Anyway, higherups decided to be pricks and knocked the poor jester out right in front of the slowly dying king. King was like "why wtf-" and higher ups were like "bro your 'friend' here has been poisoning you and that is the reason you're dying." *(as stated in the lyrics "Yes, your maker gave you time, but you've run out, and soon you'll meet-" I'm assuming he got cut off.)* Higher ups thought they killed him, so they buried him alive *(even though he was still alive)* Jester woke up weeks later and was like "wtf happened." anyway realized he was buried alive, escaped, and realized that the kingdom was being controlled by the higher ups as the lyrics *(and the king was sitting in the background letting it happen cause "I'm too depressed to do anything, I'm dying and my precious jester betrayed me")*
the higher ups are very strict and unjust maybe cause everyone is suffering and just sad. **(As the lyrics "I cannot recognize a single thing in front of me. The world as I knew it now is gone, is this reality?" and "Oh this world that I left you in. Has been tainted now by your sin" state, although the jester doesn’t know the king isn't really in charge anymore.)* Anyway the jester in that break between those lyrics he was learning about the new world and is like "Wow, either being without me has really fucked him up in the brain or it isn't him in control now. TIME TO PUT HIM TO REST LOL."
The jester then proceeded to stroll into the castle, somehow got past the higher ups and guards, and had a final boss fight with the king. *(well not really a boss fight, the king was basically a corpse now.)* In the kings last moments alive the truth about the king’s sickness comes out, he was just a victim of a bad cold or something, not poisoned or anything, and the higher ups was telling lies on the Jester. bros had a final heart to heart and the king died, making the Jester the new ruler of the kingdom.

When I heard this song, it instantly grabbed my attention. Amazing piece of work, it connected me to this story in no time. It's rare when songs make me not just listen to them but also feel them. And that's definitely the case.

In the last campaign, he talked himself and the barbarian into a castle to hunt down a fortune teller. He proceeded to convince all the guards the fortune teller was going crazy, and if the fortune teller were to act out, or pretended not to recognize him,, it'd be totally normal-
But he was also super dangerous, so if he acts like that then they should be prepared to help restrain him.
Him and the Barbarian proceeded to kidnap the fortune teller, sap him for info, and then killed him even though he led the fortune teller to believe they wouldn't if he cooperated.
They then looted his body for everything he was worth and ran back to the party that, at this point, had split three times.

Before the ~15th listen I was just vibing, then I became distinctly aware of the accordion, entering 2:03, and now I vibe even harder
I know this has been out for a while, so I'm late to the party, but I gotta say I love the art that goes along with this song. The pure innocence portrayed by that jester, sitting on a golden throne while ruin surrounds. Peak. Props.
Holy guacamole this song is good. The vocaloid voice helps a lot to disconnect us from the jester, it adds to the uneasiness of the whole song. He's supposed to have a cherry voice right? But he doesn't. He has one that doesn't show any emotion.
I have a character that has the same vibe as the entire music.
Most important things to know are: Rosits, the Clawthorn's and the Ancients.
Rosits are basically human in appearance, minus the flowers in their head (though they can produce a human looking head), the Clawthorns are a family of Rosits that basically took control of all realities and the Ancients are the first gods to ever exist.
Now to himself. This little dude guy is named Zacarias. This lil dude is also the jester of the Ancient Kingdom, who was created by the first gods.
Zacarias survived by body swapping several times trhu several hundreds years, and as a side effect, and has basically fucked up his soul. Trhu body swapping this dude fused his soul with the soul of the previous owner of the body, and used said souls as a magic source.
Because Zack did this his soul and body are at another level of destroyed. His voice is robotic, he tries putting emotion into it but only sounds like a robot modulating it's voice, his hair and flowers are plain white, all the souls inside him are under a inexplicable level of stress, his skin and petals are as white as his hair and flowers, his body literally can't produce the chemicals necessary for that, and the only thing that has color is his eyes and one single flower, who are a blinding blue, burning with the souls of those he stole the body of.
You'd say he's a bad person right? How about you fuse him with the literal idea of Chaos and make him a puppet of Chaos? Wouldn't this be fun?
In a nutshell, he became the jester and caretaker of the daughter of the Clawthorn's, Rose and Tulip. He one time accidentally hurt their daughter. Let's just say Rose wasn't pleased with that and used a Null Spell to negate the petals of Zack.
Zack literally lost his soul, and the coupled with Null Sector death (basically a reality collapsing on itself, it sets the whole story off), basically killing him with a inexistent source of magic, caused a rift to open to the Earthbreaker dimension, where Kaos the god of Chaos resides in, and the god of Chaos just took hold of his soul. You know. To cause chaos.
The rest that happens is the story itself. And let's just say that Zacarias wanted a bigger audience than only a family.
If someone actually read this, yes I did the ultimate writer move and just dumped a whole bunch of lore into a random video. I love this story and I'll talk about it in any chance I get.

Oh my god. How does this only have 30k views? This is gonna be one of my favorite songs for awhile now! I absolutely adore the instrumental and lyrics, they go so well together and I love your choice of certain words in some verses. Also the rhyming was really nice??? Like, it didn't feel like you got out a thesaurus and just rhymed random words, all the lines felt very purposeful and it was just lovely! Not to mention the cover art is very aesthetically pleasing and the posing is very nice!

jesters, in the medieval era at least, had two types. The licensed fool, and the natural fool. Licensed fools were just jesters whom were good a jokes and other such things, and natural fools were those with conditions that caused them to act or look in a way that was humorous. Mental disorders, deformities, etc.
