I love how all of Marriyam’s lines rhyme and all of Tamari’s don’t! Like tamari’s the “black sheep” of perfect robotics world and like broke away from their mom thing person…… Meanwhile Marriyam was like goin along with it and like didn’t listen to Tamari for a while (2:21 Tamari trying to show their sister his views by giving them an eye) and at the end they choose to listen to Tamari and like break away like a swaggy pog champ beast
at 3:37 it feels like Fayrouz is saying that, not Mariyam , "The core of my design"- Fayrouz realizing that the mistake wasnt in Tamari, but in herself, "Your eyes look down at mine"-Mariyam is dissapointed at Fayrouz and therefore looking down at her, not the other way around, "It never truly ends"- If tamari wasnt the mistake, Fayrouz is, meaning she will continue to make AIs that run away from her, over and over again. idk im too obsessed with this that i might be making things up but idk
4:33 THIS FACE!! If holds SO MANY thoughts behind it, here are my favorite examples "What cookies, haven't seen any....." "GOD you breath stinks" "I don't know who you are, and you clearly think I'm someone else, but I'm too anxious to tell you that so I'm just gonna pretend I know what's going on with you and your ex." "DID I FORGET SOMETHING!!!!!" "OH NO........"
tamari with their wings at 4:11 looks like the cover character from those who carried on with the placement of the mechanical like limbs and spikes from the head
In the desc of the unfinished pv video ghost said the universe is about a contagious disease that causes people to decompose alive and fall apart. I immediately thought of the line "ignore the rottenness, and see your beautiful bewildered face" maybe the unuverse take place ages after the events of those who carried on??
Something small that I noticed, is at 1:44 before the paper with the roschach test is torn, the bangs at the top are Miriyams. But as the paper is shred, the bangs quickly change to Tamari's before Tamari is revealed behind it. Not sure what this means, but I thought I should mention it here !!
Maybe cause the sister lady is all proper and doing things as intended, while tamari is ballin ballin, doin their thang. Really gettin out there. Making things happen. Payin bills and climbin hills. You know them. They're doin it. Robo robo. Done and done. Really gotcha there. Who needs psychology tests? The weird mumma (maybe not mumma) doc is makin robots. Who cares if the robots go coocoo? It SEEMS like, like one robot is coocoo enough. Even said, "You're paper... is... dumb" Other robot, well, is chill. But I hope they come to they're not-senses soon and start ballin like my cutie cutie patooty tamari
I was watching live and it was such an experience getting to share a braincell with all the other chatters at 1:55 and 4:33 going "TAMARI!!!" and "SISTER??? SIBLINGS???"
once again i have fallen into the "ghost and pals song" rabbit hole. step one: listening to the song. not my jam. step two: listens a second time from curiosity. becomes obsessed. step three: becomes my main song for months until ghost posts another song.
OH MY GOD YES! It happens to me where I listen to a song from either Ghost or Vane and aren't sure if I like it or not, so I listen to it again and then love it! So this is very relatable.
seriously! why does the fuck does this keep happening to me!! i listen to their songs, dont like it at first, listen to it again just to give it another chance, i cannot stop myself from listening to it over and over again until i get sick of it. every time!!!!
Did anyone else notice at 4:47 "TA-MO2" seems to be a reference to Tamari from Reckless Battery Burns. At the end of that song the file "ta-mo1.exe" is dragged into the desktop trash. And the mc has those same little antenna as Tamari. I wonder how they're connected. . . Edit, I forgot to mention how this song dislocated my whole spine in the best way possible :)
@@veryrealhuman5471 cuormor actually said that the design IN RBB was a simplified version of their design, and Tamari looks more like this version in their reference art iirc
@@HamHamIsDeadInside Based on this idea, it seems the 'ta-mo2 reconnection failed' scene is when Mariyam ran away to join Tamari, and Fayrouz probably wants them to come back. Yeah I think Tamari is the older sibling.

IMAGINE MY SHOCK-
I love this so much! I love the return of Tamari, I love how the whole world is shown in colour when Mariyam finally finds them, I love that none of Tamari's lines rhyme and they all have the same quality as Reckless Battery Burns' lyrics. It gives off the idea that Tamari has become so enlightened by the experiments done on them that being near them exposes reality but at the same time Mariyam cannot understand what they are saying because they've changed far too much. And at the end, Mariyam grieves Tamari but I suppose agrees to follow in their footsteps? I love this continuation, I hadn't expected it.
"if you wanna kill the world you should start by getting it backwards" is the rawest fucking lyric EVER and ive been thinking about it every day since this track came out like it goes so hard thank you for being a badass af artist ghost
@@ameladaptivedaydreamer949 No, this line was not AI-generated, all of the lyrics in this song were produced and written by GHOST themself. Reckless Battery Burns, the first song in the Qualia Automata series, is the only song the lyrics of which were BASED ON some results which GHOST got from an AI text generator (where, by the way, they put the lyrics of their own songs and some of their friends' songs with permission, the utilization of AI in this was completely ethical and with consent from all parties involved and did not involve any type of art theft).
"Dad, why is my sister named Rose?" "Because your mother loves roses." "Oh, thanks Dad" "No problem Solaria, Kevin / End-World Normopathy [Original Song Collaboration]"
i think the color changing is a metaphor for the main character leaving the head of the lab to find tamari. she leaves black and white behind to experience color for the first time! also, with the "to see the world again" it may be to go back before tamari was a lab experiment; as we see they're siblings! hope this makes some sense
When I saw the character in the thumbnail I was like "Hmm they look kinda familiar" and now I'm realizing that they actually appeared very briefly at the end of Reckless Battery Burns and I'm honestly surprised that I could remember that brief appearance
I remember when I saw mariyam at the end of reckless battery burns for the first time and I thought they were supposed to be the past version of tamari or something. I thought the story was that tamari got turned into a robot💀 anyways yeah, interesting
I’m probably reading too much into it but there’s a potential neat connection between the series title, mv, and a philosophical concept! In philosophy, a “qualia” is a property of the “conscious experience” of something. To set up a running metaphor, the wavelength of light reflecting off an apple is a physical property. Meanwhile, the “red” *you experience* as existing in front of you is a mental property. In other words, the qualia of red is “what it’s like” to see red for a person. So the title “qualia automata” could mean “the conscious experience of being an automata.” That’d fit really well with what this song seems to be about :D I used the example of a color in my explanation for a reason. Colors are really easy to see and define as conscious experiences, so they get used a lot in philosophical discussion. One such discussion is the thought experiment “Mary and the black in white room,” which challenges the view that all consciousness is purely physical. The scenario follows a hyper-competent woman named Mary who spends the first part of her life in a black and white room with no exposure to the color red. Inside that room, she learns *all* the physical information about light waves and the human brain. When she leaves the room for the first time and encounters red, humans assume she still learns something new: “what it is like to see red.” As she already possessed all the physical knowledge, the argument claims that something in this interaction must be non-physical. Just thought that was interesting, with the monochrome mv which abruptly switches to color. Idk if it was intentional, but it’s a cool connection nonetheless!
it was.. subconsciously intentional! im extremely familiar with theories in philosophy and quantum theory too. we named mariyam without thinking of that and i remembered it at some point while working on it this after i came up with the idea of the most of the pv being in b/w and was like like "haha im so unintentionally smart" and then forgot about it again until now
@@11vein pray tell how one can attain extreme familiarity in both philosophy _and_ quantum theory. like that's legit the coolest "useless knowledge" to just have lying around in your head.

Hi ghost! I just wanted to thank you so much for making this song. My limbs have detached and gained complete autonomy, now spinning around in circles to the beat of the music entirely on their own(they grow up so fast) and I lay motionless on the ground as nothing but a torso and head; I will probably be dead soon, as I cannot move. Thank you! In all seriousness, Thank you so much for this incredible song! Your content has improved so much and as somebody who’s been a fan of you since like 2015, it’s been an amazing ride to watch you grow and evolve as a content creator. Please keep up the great work!
I know a lot of people really love your older music, and I think a lot of that is due to nostalgia and the charm of that specific style, but I just have to say that I am IN LOVE with your new work. It's so apparent how much you've improved, especially in the quality of production. I actually recently made a close friend through your music, and we are both so invested in the story behind Qualia Automata!! I can (and often do) listen to your songs all day. I Can hear a hint of reckless battery burns in this song not just cuz temari is here if you know what im talking about then you know cuz tbh I can't describe the tune :( Either way absolutely amazing as always thank you ghost for blessing us with yet another banger
not tamari/mariyam related but honestly this is exactly the song id use to describe how anxiety feels for me. The noise, the melody, something in lyrics even
I’m going to post my personal theory after this, but i just wanted to say that this is amazing. GHOST, VANE, CARBON, and CRUORMOR all outdid themselves and I am so so happy. The work that was put into this is outstanding.
It feels like there is a parallell between Tamari, who has quite a devilish look with the horns and tail whereas Mariyam has a more angelic look in the end with the halo of cables and the robe. (Very in-depth, I know. Totally not something half of those watching caught the first time they watched this.)
It seems that the colour changing from monotone to similar to RBB at the end of the song is the sister following Tamari instead of their creator/mentor, who had previously ran away or rebelled and was portrayed to the sister as a "failure" of the project they were created for
happy 1 year to this song :') this series means so much to me, so thank you to the team for making it possible! it's been fun theorizing and piecing stuff together as the story progresses - I hope that after the finale people will appreciate the characters and the message as much as I do! ❤
somthing about the art changeing from black and white, mostly just line art, and very angular, to full color and vibrint chaotic backrounds right when Mariyam runs away, just yes
notice how at 3:37 when Mariyam sings here you can hear a little bit of Tamari's vocals as well in the background to emphasize how similar the two truly are here. fun shit
One small thing that I noticed (after who knows how many listens of this song holy shit its good), is that the choir that plays during the intro and in the first chorus is almost "glitched" in a way, with it cutting, stuttering, repeating. However, when the same chorus plays at the end, after Tamari and Mariyam re-unite, when we see Fayrouz slumped against the wall in a defeated manner, the choir doesn't cut out. It doesn't stutter. There is no "glitch" to it. This carries through until the end of the song. I don't know what to make of this, if there's any possible meaning, but once you notice it, it is very... Eerie. Almost feels like something that was once incomplete has been completed; something previously broken has been fixed. However, with how dark the instrumental and song overall seem to be... Perhaps this completion was never meant to be. I'm both scared and extremely excited for the next entry into this series ':> Addendum: I've now also noticed that the instrumental when the siblings re-unite completely changes, keeping the similar dirty/glitchy bass, yes, but the other instrumentation is *lower*. Do I hear a bell? Something about it feels church-like; which I think pairs well with Tamari's metal wings, and how Mariyam becomes an almost "angelic automaton" at the end, but it has me thinking... did Tamari become a god of some sort? Reading the story summaries on the Qualia Automata caard, I think so. At least in one way. I continue to be both scared and excited for the next entry :')
Just noticed EWN 4:32 And my sister just gives me that weird, surreal look. RBB 4:42 Ignore the rottenness, and see your beautiful, bewildered face! (specifically at 4:45, you can see fayroux, then mariyam)
Absolutely screamed at the shot where everything is suddenly in color holy shit This entire video is such a work of art and the funky sounds rattle my braincells quite nicely
i feel like this song is based on mary the color scientist basically the series is called qualia automata, and what qualia means from what i could gather was human sensations and perceptions that cannot be explained, but have to be experienced so what mary the color scientist was was a theory saying that if you locked mary in a colorless room, and only explained to her what colors are, she would never have the qualia, or experience, of the colors. i feel like this is connected to the song because of how the mv starts out black and white and how the characters name is mariyam also, the mary color scientist theory was used as a way to prove that life isnt mental and made up by our brains but it is physical (i dont feel this connects to this song but maybe the next one) also sorry if i got any details wrong
I love how the melody gets more aggressive whenever Tamari is speaking or in a scene. I adore this song so much, and it’s just before my Tamari plush arrives to boot! Speaking of Tamari plush, this may be sudden but would there be any other Ghost or Vane Lily merch in the near future?? I will patiently wait for the day I can forfeit my organs for yet another silly
So uh, in case anyone was wondering what the story of Salpêtrière was. The Salpêtrière was originally a gunpowder factory, but in 1656 at the direction of Louis XIV, it was converted into a hospice for the poor women of Paris as part of the General Hospital of Paris. This main hospice was for women who were learning disabled, mentally ill or epileptic, as well as poor. In 1657 it was incorporated with the hospice of the Pitié designed specifically for beggars' children and orphans. In 1684 a women's prison was added to the site with a total capacity of 300 convicted prostitutes. It provided wretched living conditions for its inmates. On the eve of the Revolution, Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospice had become the world's largest hospice, with a capacity of 10,000 "patients" and over 300 prisoners. Until the French Revolution, the Salpêtrière had no medical function: the sick were sent to the Hôtel-Dieu hospital (via Wikipedia). There is a lot more to this, but this is the basics that I thought were either interesting or possibly??? relevant.
_Highly_ relevant. Especially with *he* says towards the end, right...? "Start by getting _it_ backwards." ...read backwards, the story goes from *highly successful hospice care,* to *women's health,* to the *powder factory.* _...if you wanna k--l the world..._
Got in a fight with someone in a psych ward over this song because they were calling it "satanic"... 10/10 would recommend experience. (UPDATE: I won I kicked that kid's ass LAWL-)
Thank you, GHOST, honestly thank you for having this song up. It helped distract myself from something horrible unfolding tonight as I type. Warning: suicide My little cousin that lives like a town away just tried in her backyard by hanging and my mom left our house in a frenzy, leaving my brother in my care, he's 16 but special needs and I'm 21 with an apartment upstairs so she's able to dump him here and run to my aunts house that's like 40 mins away with her bf driving. I'm... I'm a mess I won't lie and I won't care if anyone says I lie or I'm making it up, I really wish I was, I wish I was. I apologize in advance for anything I say in this comment, I'm just a mess from all of this right now, she and her sisters are like the sisters me and my brother never had, the girly type that would do your hair and gossip but also play in the backyard with mud and bows with arrows and cool things, there's three, the oldest, the middle, and the youngest, 15, 14, 13, respectedly. The 14 year old is the one that went and tried. I don't want to bring religion into this but as a pentecostal Christian, I prayed for a miracle tonight. I prayed with my bf and brother beside me in prayer. So thank you, GHOST, for this song. It brings an idea of some of these impossible and harsh emotions right now. I'm also sorry if this makes a landmark on your song or you get traction because of this comment, I wish not for many people to know this sorrow. I don't even want to know it right now, I doubt I'll get any sleep, but I made sure my brother had some valerian root so he doesn't worry as much during rest time. I'm sorry for rambling. Thank you for being one of the Vocaloid producers that I've grown fond of and grown comfort in. It really means a lot in times like these.
I'm sorry, i hope talking about it helped a little. A few days ago my boyfriend wanted to do it but thankfully i talked him out of it and now everything is ok
I continue to want to hug Tamari. Unfortunately I suspect they probably wouldn't appreciate someone doing that, but. They definitely deserve whatever equivalent they would appreciate.

I NOTICED THAT TOO!!
So the title “qualia automata” could mean “the conscious experience of being an automata.” That’d fit really well with what this song seems to be about :D
I used the example of a color in my explanation for a reason.
Idk if it was intentional, but it’s a cool connection nonetheless!
it was.. subconsciously intentional! im extremely familiar with theories in philosophy and quantum theory too. we named mariyam without thinking of that and i remembered it at some point while working on it this after i came up with the idea of the most of the pv being in b/w and was like like "haha im so unintentionally smart" and then forgot about it again until now
@CRUORMOR that’s so cool!!!

(i STILL enjoy writing these)
the path you showed me how to walk was cold
algorithmic dreams, a vessel of your soul
through her eyes of perfect ambiguity
we were born to keep the world in harmony
and through the days we saw this place create
normopathy that would collate
the passages in detail on your palms
a world enveloped proudly by your heart
the gift of life would soon impart
the tears were born from fires of a psalm
a spark alight behind those eyes
ensured damnation as a "failed attempt"
enlightened windows to the mind were damaged still
while your claws laid across your chest
and now you're all alone
fleeting words in pen, i tell the story of salpêtrière
dissonant again, and shown disorganised, without a prayer
cornered by a psyche in a world that never truly ends
though you'll never die, you've found that
all eyes are staring at your hands
the core of my design
you eyes look down at mine
it never truly ends
as metal breaks and bends
the path you walk eternally is cold
knowing clarity is out of our control
i can't understand the way you seem to pray
but reality's contorting at your say
a new façade, a prophet's masquerade
you recreated on your face
those eyes designed and carried by your fate
our hands embodied roles to automate
to never feel, to never break
the writing on the wall remains the same
and yet you live between these states
never belonging, in a futile daze
but were the ethics appraised?
now it's too late
i fear you're lost in the holy gate
the core of my design
you eyes look down at mine
it never truly ends
as metal breaks and bends
(and metal breaks and metal breaks and metal breaks)

oh no
You've doomed us all

OH. OH NO.
I'm both scared and extremely excited for the next entry into this series ':>
Addendum:
I've now also noticed that the instrumental when the siblings re-unite completely changes, keeping the similar dirty/glitchy bass, yes, but the other instrumentation is *lower*.

Absolutely screamed at the shot where everything is suddenly in color holy shit

Its in words!
i feel like this song is based on mary the color scientist
basically the series is called qualia automata, and what qualia means from what i could gather was human sensations and perceptions that cannot be explained, but have to be experienced
so what mary the color scientist was was a theory saying that if you locked mary in a colorless room, and only explained to her what colors are, she would never have the qualia, or experience, of the colors. i feel like this is connected to the song because of how the mv starts out black and white and how the characters name is mariyam
also, the mary color scientist theory was used as a way to prove that life isnt mental and made up by our brains but it is physical (i dont feel this connects to this song but maybe the next one)
also sorry if i got any details wrong

"Start by getting _it_ backwards."
...read backwards, the story goes from *highly successful hospice care,* to *women's health,* to the *powder factory.*

Got in a fight with someone in a psych ward over this song because they were calling it "satanic"... 10/10 would recommend experience. (UPDATE: I won I kicked that kid's ass LAWL-)

No clue what the hell is going on, but thank you Ghost, very cool
In general, two siblings reunited and escaped their abusive mother.
Thank you, GHOST, honestly thank you for having this song up. It helped distract myself from something horrible unfolding tonight as I type.
Warning: suicide
My little cousin that lives like a town away just tried in her backyard by hanging and my mom left our house in a frenzy, leaving my brother in my care, he's 16 but special needs and I'm 21 with an apartment upstairs so she's able to dump him here and run to my aunts house that's like 40 mins away with her bf driving.

Making another comment to say that Tamari and Mariyam are literally:
Epic Rap Battles of History: ADHD vs. Autism

watched this with my tamari plush and it floated away and fucking exploded rest in peace

I find that GHOST’s songs always take a few replays to really appreciate …. And MAN this one is gonna be a BANGER!!
Finally, a plush to achieve the magical feat of being human.

I continue to want to hug Tamari. Unfortunately I suspect they probably wouldn't appreciate someone doing that, but. They definitely deserve whatever equivalent they would appreciate.

I would like to point out Mariyam’s outfit is the same on the mannequin in Reckless Battery Burn’s MV at 3:36!
This song absolutely made my eyeballs jiggle and my gender become squiggly I love it

What the hell
Was not expecting the Tamari jumpscare but it’s VERY MUCH APPRECIATED

I love how the way Ghost incorperates Arabic into the music videos is like how I incorperate the half bug-half owl creatures into the bodies of my cousins 🥰

I love the parts of reckless battery burns in the background, and also the way Solaria sounds. Like, she really sounds androgynous in this one, and I absolutely love this. Also, normopathy is now one of my favorite words to say, along with panopticon, glockenspiel, and onomatopoeia.
