Kenny I went into our local Hobby Store where I live in Norman, OK. I ask for a 5x8x2.5mm bearing and the attendant told me that I was the fifth person in the last few days that came in asking for this bearing size. He ask me why the bearing was in such demand and I told him that I was using it to rework a Crosman trigger and he said that he ask the person before me that same thing and he had the same answer. I guess your video has been seen by many and a lot of folks in Oklahoma like Crosman rifles.
I bought the bearings and I'm waiting for my Crosman Optimus to be delivered and will let your video guide me through making the trigger better.
    Thank you,

I know every gun is a little different, but I have done two of the bearing mods on different air rifles and have found the bearing alone to be insufficient. I have achieved a much more refined result by…
    1. Adding the RC bearing.
    2. LEAVING the trigger return spring in place but WEAKENING it.
    3. Replacing the worthless factory-installed “adjustment” screw with a longer one.
With the bearing mod alone, you lose the 2-stage trigger but the overall length of trigger pull is greatly reduced. By also adding a longer adjustment screw, I further reduce the trigger pull as much as I possibly can without making the gun unsafe. The result is a very refined, short, crisp pull with 2-stage functionality restored.
If you’re a kid, stick with the bushing/bearing alone and remove the return spring and adjustment screw. If you have confidence that you know what you’re doing, go all the way with it.

Just did this modification on a Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk in .22. Took about 10 minutes. Test firing the trigger has gone from approx 8 lbs with a lot of creep/stacking to 2.5 lbs and the safety works. I couldn't get a bump fire either. Bought the 5x8x2.5mm bearing for a $1.00 at our local RC shop. Thanks for the clear instructions.

Those bearings come only in a 2- pack now, here, and the pair are $8! So I tried making an 8 mm donut of PVC. Couldn't make the O.D. concentric, so bought the bearings. It improved the pull a bit, but the Red Tail trigger still has a 1st stage some of the time, and no first stage some of the time. I believe most of the improvement made was simply turning the adjust screw in one turn, making the pull lighter. Don't know what's causing the 1st stage switching.
My trigger mechanism looks like the video one, except my trigger blade is solid steel, not stamped/curved steel, which doesn't effect anything.

The best damn fix I've seen. Quick and easy!! The screw and bearing fix turned my difficult shooter into a tack driver in just 15 minutes. I realize the manufacturer must protect themselves from liability but the factory trigger was absolutely brutal. Thank you so much and keep up the good work !

Outstanding video. I did the mod on my Benjamin Titan XS in about fifteen minutes. The safety is still operating fine, and I gave it a few good bumps to make sure there was no misfires. It worked great. I'm hitting a dime sized target over the fifty cent spread I was laying down before.

You da man Kenny. You ain't gettin' older, you gettin' better .... just like me. Mod worked great on a Titan NP that I had bought as a first gun for my grandson. I had reservations about giving the little guy a gun with a 10 lb trigger pull so I took a chance on your modification. Now I got a 2 lb trigger that's smooth as butter and no reservations about letting that short human being have a bunch of fun. Thanks Kenny

first thank you to your family for keeping these videos up.
yesterday I bought the bearing and installed it as Ken instructed -
    it worked ok,
** now I know why he saved that spring and pin as it made going back soo much easier. :D
So I chose going back to the longer 3mm 10mm .50 pitch adjustment screw
as I prefer the feel of the 2 stage trigger.
knowing by the "feel" of that "wall" just before a leetle smooth pressure applied to let it fire just right [for me]
so I have the bearing to try on another project. :)
    very nice fix and adjustment
    awhile back I bought and installed a 3mm 10mm machine screw -
    followed Ken's adjustment instructions -
put screw in just deep enough so it didnt latch/catch or engage sear when breaking over the barrel -
then backed off 1/4 turn [it worked well as I felt the wall, but too hair trigger for me] :o
after a few trial adjustments i backed it off around a turn or so - until it felt good to me, just as I like it. :)
your results will vary as to what you like.
i feel a very smooth stage until the trigger is up against the wall of the firing stage.
a little steady pressure. . . I feel it let go and I am happy. :)
*yes I did the slap test, the bump test and the safety works fine. [always best to be safe- avoids those holes in places you off target] :O
I like the feel and will be ok right here with my consistent groups of pellet holes over lapping each other.

Just carried out the mod and it's utterly transformed my Remington Pest Controller (same style trigger). Paid £2.40 in UK for the 8 x 5 x 2.5 mm bearing. All went well, the pivot is a tight fit passing through the bearing, but stick with it, I turned the bearing round and it fitted more easily (go figure !).

Just did the 2.5mm bearing mod on a Crosman Phantom NP and the difference is amazing. This is THE video to use when fixing a Crosman trigger.
The trigger on my Phantom was terrible. It was long, gritty, and the pull-weight uneven throughout the pull. Now she has a light and smooth 1/4" pull. If you feel the trigger is too light you can always put the trigger spring back in. The bearing really shortens and smooths out the trigger pull even with the spring left in.
A thorough cleaning and lubing is always good practice of course while you have the gun apart.

Thank you very much. I actually used two split washers that were close to 8mm and they worked great. Trigger travel went from 1/4 foot to 1/4 inch (slight exaggeration but not by much!) My rifle is kinda Heinz 57, it was in a Fury box, barrel says it's a BPNP17X, the action says Optimus, and the stock looks like a Phantom. Must have been a weird day on the production line! Shoots great now!

A quick update I went to Hobby Town this afternoon and picked up a 4pack of the 5X8X2.5mm bearing, after following the video and Kenny's advice and cautions I installed the fix in less than 10 min. and tomorrow I will try it out... @@Raven4122.... Depends on which model of airgun you have... most have either 3 or 4... two towards the front of the stock and either one or two at the trigger guard.... it's not "rocket science", but... if you can't figure out how to do something simple, like the stock removal... then perhaps you shouldn't be attempting any trigger work.
By the way, if you were directing your question to Kenny (this website).... you will be waiting for a Long time... Kenny past away from cancer Aug.30th last year (2018). The trigger was so bad on my Nitro Venom Dusk I decided to give this a try. First I checked the trigger pull poundage stock. It was 6 lbs 1 oz .. average of 3 using Lyman. The length of pull was roughly 7/8" before it broke. I followed the instructions and used the 5mm 8mm 2.5mm RC bearing. I left the adjustment screw alone.
The results were amazing. The trigger pull weight is now 3 lbs 5 oz .. average of 3. The length of pull is now roughly 3/8" before it breaks. The trigger is no where near a hair trigger as it feels about perfect. The safety functions fine. There is some take up or slop but it is negligible. Overall I'm very pleased. A big thank you !

It's an extremely easy mod. Trigger is now a true single stage and i haven't put a gauge on it yet but it compares to the ProComp i have on my 10/22 Ruger so i'd say it's 3lbs. @@jeffstanley4593 , yes, Kenny died of cancer. We'll see him in the next age, Ezekiel 37: 1 - , and
Revelation 20: 5A, a parenthetical statement (And the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished).

Did the mod and like most other people agree, it's a well worth effort. Anybody want one each of the required parts? Had to buy two each, have one pair left over, speak - if you want them. Thanks for the instructions.

I was going to try the 3mm x 10mm screw fix, but do not want the pull to be any heavier than it already is...so I will just order the 5x8x2.5 bearing and do it that way, which appears to give the best results! Thanks again for all of the very detailed information Kenny, AGW.

@@jamess8340 Smoother, and easier to pull. It feels a bit weird at first, but in comparison it's 10x better to shoot now. I managed to get two bearings for 4 bucks at my local RC shop. Well worth it. If you do exactly what he shows in video, you will be good to go. I would say if you're interested, go for it, you won't regret it

My Crosman Optimus was hanging. I opened it, and found that pulling the trigger releases the lever that stops the spring release, but there was a small lip that hooked and held. A touch with a file or a stone to take this down, and it released every time.

I was shooting 3" steel plates at 20 yards before seeing this video with my NV. I removed the spring behind the trigger now my groups on paper at 20 yards have shrunk to under 1", im waiting on my 5×8×2.5mm rc bearing hopefully I will be hitting bullseye repetitively. Thank you

Is adding the 8 or 9mm bearing I read about for pre-loading the sear to take up engagement and lessen the creep?

This gentleman knows what he is talking about. He's been around guns for awhile, you can tell. I like the screw method, easy, gets it pretty much where I want it but I may remove the spring also.
I hope no one removes the wrong c-clips, they will be in for a bad time getting that stuff together. I know because I have done it in the past. You know what they say though, hard lessons are usually the best taught lessons if you survive.

I striped down the hole trigger unit easy to do smoothed out all the touching surfaces on the sears, they where rougher than any trigger i had done before. Anyway i got them flat and even and polished to a mirror finish, i then did the bearing mod put a longer pull lengh grubscrew in a lubed it up its now in a different league i can get the trigger pull down to 1 1/2 pound but i set it at 2 1/2 pound it was to light. Its safe and wont go of if banged. I am going to do another but i am going to make new sears that fit better and that are flawless.

The NP Trail Pistol's trigger is similar or the same mechanism as the NP Trail XL1100? I noted the XL1100 video, detailed and well done.

I hope the bearing mod still works. got the 2017 crosman stealth shot today. and the trigger looks nothing like this. solid piece instead of the hollow backside trigger, less rounded design. short trigger pull before I've done anything with the adjustment screw. noticable second stage but a little to hard.
