When I was a kid my mom use to keep my hair natural. She use to wash it every 2 weeks and braid it with grease. She didn’t even use conditioner after washing it. My hair was mid back. I sometimes wonder if we’re just doing too much with our hair nowadays.
That's just why I stacked up before it does a have about8 jars and will be getting more cuz 20$ a jar is a no go I will end up making it before then lol by ordering petroleum jelly oils herbs etc lol

I don’t think they lied. They gave us options. We never considered natural oils before. Grease works for some and not others. Coconut oil is not the messiah for everyone. If grease works use grease. If natural oils give us long lustrous hair then use that. There are many roads to Rome. I hope we all get there. I mean I’m tryna get to Delta state but that’s a story for another day. 😏.
👏🏾👏🏾 Yes! We're all different. I only occasionally used grease before going natural over 20 years ago. Back then I relaxed my hair and it was super-thick & long. When I first went natural I found that grease & most oils just sit on my hair & jack up my curl pattern! Yes, my scalp needed moisture and maybe oil, but my hair does not like it at all. If it's mixed into a product it's a little better but my hair will protest every time. *Sigh* my search continues for a grease or oil that will stay on my scalp on not get on my hair OR that my hair likes.
I switched from "grease" to oils when the "movement" came. As soon as i finish these bottles, I'm going back to everything I used to use back in the day...grease included.
I am Caucasian and I used to have split ends constantly. I went to a dermatologist and she recommended using grease. My hair has been far more healthy.
I know a white lady who grew her hair down to her ankles, cut it to her chin when she was pregnant and then grew it back down to her knees. SHE ONLY USES GREASE
We coming for growth, positivity, and prosperity all 2020✨🤪! For anyone reading this, I speak nothing but blessings and happiness over you and your loved ones this upcoming year! Edit: it’s the end of 2020 and.. this comment.. did not age well. The world is in shambles. Tf?😭💀
@@kailabrown1446, @Michelle Gil : Thanks for your answers. My problem is on "day 2": basically I wash once a week, then spray water (my hair dries really fast) and apply shea butter. Then on day 2, I re-hydrate and reapply shea butter. But, although my hair grows fast, I have not been retaining any length. So I tried petrolatum grease, but on day 2 I can't spray water on any more (it's messy sticky), and if I don't spray water my hair is not easy to style (into a bun). I'll try using it only on the ends.
The same thing with Sulfates.. we all used to use them until this “natural hair community”... you need sulfates to remove the grease that y’all are scared of
I tried staying away from sulfate shampoo but my scalp just iched like crazy , like I got scared .until I went back to the shop grabbed a normal shampoo ( making sure that my natural buddies don't spot me :D ) after using it all my iches disappeared like magic !
Right ! But I will say. A good sulfate free shampoo 🧴 is Shea moisture JBCO. I’m still not understanding why ppl aren’t using the line anymore when some of the the stuff works
@@crystalnelson6792 Well, I can only name the few I've tried - Blue Magic, Stella pomade & Vaseline come readily to mind. I've no problem with raw shea butter & oils, though.
When I was a child I had long THICK ponytails t that went down to the middle of my back. What did my mother use to do my hair? Grease and water. When I got older and started doing my own hair, using gel, and all these other different products is when my hair started breaking off.
🦋🦋🦋 I've been trying to tell my trifling ass brother to use some grease in his hair to keep it moisturized because it helps me. But he's satisfied with his hair sounding like dried leaves.
@@Chowanoc222 girl shut UP you in everyone comments telling them grease is vaseline and horrible. Okay AND?! Vaseline is good as hell so u ain't sayin nothin lmao
@@Chowanoc222 That depens on your brand, too. And it will smell sometimes too. I hate blue magic smell in hot temps. It's very tropical where I am... And I just don't want that.
@@NaijaMonroe Well, even on the skin. It traps/ seals in moisture. So it'll have to be in there be4 you put it on. And some don't like the texture, like me.
Davinci sullivan you are completely right. I know plenty girls with her hair types that don’t have her issues. The scalp produces it’s own sebum and if ppl just leave their scalp alone it’ll be fine, unless they have a medical condition determined by a MD or NP. This is basic biology lol. Grease is over drying ppl just don’t stop long enough to notice the difference and aren’t use to their scalps working the way it’s suppose to. Any oil will seal in moisture, a good one being, Argan or pure jojoba oil. She didn’t post any scientific resources to these claims either. Or even just basic chem to connect the dots. Haven’t used grease in years and my hair is producing plenty of oil. I invest in good deep conditioners as well. I don’t use a lot of coconut oil because that’s straight protein and you can give your hair a protein overload, just like you can give your hair a moisture overload. If someone does use grease you only need it on your ends and there are PLENTY of oil based products that aren’t expensive that are non-comedogenic and blue magic isn’t one of them, the first ingredient is mineral oil. Plus companies can slap anything on a bottle as say it doesn’t clog pores. She also contradicts herself when she says dermatologist (as if all) recommends petroleum for extremely dry skin but they also say avoid clogging your pores, every skin type is different so everyone isn’t getting prescribed the same medication from the MD. Or just make your own and put a preservative in it, it’s not that hard.
I grew up on Blue Magic and I have a picture when my hair was like yours. My Grandmother is 95 years old and she still uses it. She has the most beautiful hair and the length is crazy. I'm going back to what I know works. Thank you Sis...great video.
I tried the whole oil thing and it made my hair dry and brittle. I was so frustrated that I went back to grease. I bought blue magic and my hair is growing and thriving and so so soft
And oils in general for me are a no go....my 4c hair is so fine ...it just does a number on it. I did grease for a while and it was ok, I think I was using too much. Hair was flat, no body. I was wearing my hair out alot. Now I use Cantu curling cream and aunt Jackie's flaxseed gel and my hair looks nice. But I may jump back on that grease wagon again! Especially when I do protective styles like twists.
When I first went natural 18 years ago, before there was a movement or videos, I used what my dad told me to use- grease and water. He would hate it when my mom permed my hair and would be like, "I don't know why you're doing all that! All she needs is grease and water". And babyyyyy when I used grease on my natural my hair, it was so lush! I never had knots, and barely any dandruff. Then the natural hair movement happened, all the girls were talking about how bad grease was, so I listened and tried something new, you know, the butters and oil combos, etc. Then multiple combinations of cowashes and deep conditioners. My hair started to knot up so bad and I had dandruff after like day 2 of wash day (and yes I oil my scalp, what you think this is). Anyway, long story short, I found this old jar of grease in my cabinet a few months ago and was like, what the hell. Babayyyy, when I tell you!! When I slicked that grease onto my scalp, my scalp literally SCREAMED, "HALLELUJAHHHHH!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 My scalp caught the holy ghost and got delivert, ya'll. It felt so much healthier, I don't have to apply it as often and my hair stays juicy. Plus I have like 90% less knots. Now I do use this natural ingredient grease, but I'm happy I went back!
Use what works.I use shea butter and olive oil. Im going to include BM blue again though as another tool in my repertoire. They all work great.my fro is thriving 🙂
Aww I’m so happy to hear this!! Your comment was hilarious 😂😂 my dad used to use blue magic on my hair as a kid and it used to be so thick. I just bought a new jar and can’t wait to use it🖤
Hey....I'm 60 years old and back in my day Grease was all we had, looking back now my Natural hair was in better shape then it ever was after giving up grease for so many other products made promises, but left me displeased. I'M GOING BACK TO GREASE!! Thank you Sister!!!!!
As a professional hair stylist I always recommend my natural clients to the the regiment they had as a child for their hair...and that basically it should be about the same now . Skin care and Hair care is basic ...water and moisture protection
When i was young my mum put grease in my hair all the time and my hair was BACK length and was soft and healthy . When i was 12 I switched to these new products that people be using and since then my hair has been snapping off and always dry. 2020 im going back to grease periodt.
Yes. My cousin washed and greased her scalp every two weeks and her hair was gorgeous. She was ill and on a lot of medication plus on top of taking dialisys. Her her was still gorgeous due to her hair routine. Rip sadly she passed last year. But what she taught me i will be practicing.
I'm for anything that works for your hair. Don't use grease because of the heaviness and it has the tendency to get all over every thing. I use coconut oil and Shea Moisture. But think the best way for your hair to grow is to just leave it alone. I usually keep my hair twisted and pinned up. My hair grows about an inch per month, but the secret is taking care of it so it doesn't break off.
Thanks for everyone's kind words. She will be truly missed. I massage my scalp daily to get the blood flowing. I have noticed a significant amount of hair growth due to that little extra put into my routine. I used to think the same thing about leaving your hair alone. But in order for the hair to grow blood flow helps a lot.
Tahtahme Xero ikr grease isn’t as popular anymore but most of things I learned online really helped my hair grow. I remember so many girls used to have such damaged hair and now I see so many girls with healthy hair
Tahtahme Xero I never got a lick of GOOD advice from the natural hair community. I grew up on shampoo and grease and my hair has always been long and healthy.
I've gotten nothing but good advice myself. I think advice is sometimes misconstrued as actual "you have to do this". A lot of our sisters are so frustrated with their hair and lack of fast growth for some, when they try something and it doesn't work, they may take it personal. I encourage all to just keep trying until you find what works for you.
@Adele Zadi Expensive shampoo and conditioner that's probably like $20 or $30 a bottle, leave-in conditioners, creams, and oils that are also expensive as well. That could be the case but I don't know.
When I use grease my scalp gets dirty really fast but when I use shea butter mixed with carrier & essential oils I only have to wash once every two weeks. I teach my daughter to pay attention to what her scalp & hair likes bcs all natural hair isn’t the same. If you like grease, do you boo!
I've been THRIVING with my blue magic over the past 5 months. Nothing else keeps moisture in my hair. Its thick enough and now that it's cold its helping my nape not break like it's been doing the past few years. I couldn't figure out why it was so dry with all my expensive ass curly girl method approved products 😂 I just needed some damn DAX. DAX, BLUE MAGIC, MOISTURE MAX, INDIAN HEMP, you name it, I bought it. My hairs doing so well lately.
@@BlackHipsterGirl it keeps my hair really soft and moisturized. I use the dark green one. I know the one you're talking about, its pink/red? I use it too, to seal in moisture also, but not in my scalp just my strands. It keeps my hair detangled too. FOR LIKE A WEEK I dint have to do much of anything besides style it a little. I just dont use a ton because it definitely can block out moisture if you arent careful with your moisturizer underneath, I go ham and then seal it up with the grease and I'm good to go. I have really thick highly porous 4a hair. I typically use heavy products. Shea butter is my usual sealant but my hair doesn't care for it anymore it does nothing 😂 and oils don't really work for me alone at all
@@shhhh6174 yes it's red. I have 4a hair too. I haven't tested the porosity but it does take well to oils and grease. When you think about it grease is made from an oil. It's mostly mineral oil
@@BlackHipsterGirl that's true but on it's own oil is just too light for my hair, I have to apply too many time and that's when I start getting that drying effect because when the oil dries out the moisture dries out. I just dont like my hair being gunky with product so reapplying is no good for me, and washing and conditioning too often is really bad for me. The grease just is heavy enough to let me stretch from week to week almost without having to re wet and moisturize my hair. I literally have to stick my head under the sink and then reapply all my products every few days or it starts breaking off
I haven’t used grease in about 35 years. I cannot. But, I don’t hate on it. I know several people who use it and it works well for them. I say find a regime that works for you, then use it. No need for hating and judgment. Our mothers/grandmothers used grease on our hair for years.
Ni La I soo agree. People are getting it out of context. I don’t believe natural hair community lied. I think they just told us some products would yield better results - that is not wrong. Different strokes for different folks and everyone has to find out what works best for themselves. If grease works it’s okay too. We are all trying to get the best results. Whether it be natural products or man made.
Different strokes for different folks. I can't comb my hair when wet, tried it and I ended up with more knots, tangles and frustration, damp yes, wet nope.
bianca44bianca that’s not true. You can comb your hair while wet. You are not suppose to brush your hair while wet because your the bristles rip the hair .
I was wondering why my daughter hair was so dry, after my oil concoction, and all the natural hair shampoo and conditioner that a bought every time I watch a tutorial,I was going crazy,so one day I didn't have money to buy the camille rose collection, so I end up buying aussie, blue magic, and someone told me about dark and lovely AU Natural curl defining glaze,I never looked back since, even the color come back in her hair nice rich black hair, even after protective braids for a week or two, she still have moisture, so you right do what works for you,I no longer watch natural hair tutorials regarding hair products, only for styles
I noticed the same thing with my daughter and i have been considering for months now going back to greasing her scalp the old school way. After going to all natural products I've struggled to keep her hair moisturized and have been unable to retain length like when she was younger. And she's a 4b/4c hair type. When she was younger i used blue magic and Frenchee's (same thing i used growing up) and never had this problem. Now, i love the natural tea tree shampoo we use, as it helps keep her scalp from being Itcy and i do use aloe vera treatments but I'm definitely going to go back to greasing her scalp and doing protective styles with grease and just see how it goes.
@@tjfintrade yes,try my products that I mentioned and see if it works for you,and put her hair in protective styles, that will make her hair grow and retail length
I went back to grease last year and have ZERO regrets and amazing results! The fancy butters, cremes, and oils just wasnt doing it for my 4C Straw hair.
Idc what any naysayers say about greace I grew up on it and it never did my hair any harm. My hair was always moisturized and grew long thanks to greace and cornrows! But what really messed my hair up was that creamy crack.
Listen I'm a male with waves, and all my grandmother ever used was royal crown grease and had hair down to her lower back, I'm not knocking oil but dont stray away from what originally worked, Great video Melinated Black Queen information is key
J P my mom said the same thing. She was like, “my momma used grease and I had hair down my back!” She uses the one in the red can with the silver top. And I mix Vaseline in with lotion on myself and my kids. 🤷🏾♀️
Me too! I have never been able to come back from that! Why did I ever want a relaxer in middle school? It has never been the same. It has been a JOURNEY to get it past my shoulders!!!
Moisture and oil is why people retained length while wearing Jheri curls. Unfortunately most of the jheri curl type moisturizers have omitted mineral oil from the formula in an effort to appease the current market.
If you’ve used grease and it dried out your hair, that’s because you didn’t apply grease to hair that was moisturized in the first place. Grease is a SEALANT and seals in whatever moisture is in your hair so it doesn’t escape so easily. Do not blame grease for dry hair please.
Grease is bae. Has always been bae. Will continue to be bae. I use BB Super Grow. And I surely do use Sulfate shampoo &&&&&&&&& my hair is long and healthy. 💙💙💙
I remember back in the day when hair grease was used on the hair and scalp nobody suffered from balding and alopesia. I will always use grease as long as I live. I tried using just oils as a sealant and wasting money on products that just didn't work. You and your hair are beautiful by the way.
This is an old but I just got here. This is so true. I've been natural for 5 years and my fro is big now. I was too broke for Shea moisture or expensive products. I would pre-poo and shampoo that's it then I'd use grease and raw shea butter to moisturize my hair. My hair grew past my shoulders during those months whilst my lifestyle hadn't changed overall.
I’ve been trying to tell people this but no one wants to listen to me 😂 2019 I started using grease again and my hair is thick and getting longer and it helps with my dry hair. I literally oiled my hair last night and it was dry this morning. I put grease in it and I know it’s gonna last the rest of the week. I just add some peppermint oil in my blue magic for that soothing feeling! 😁💕✨
I bought some blue magic a few months ago and I've been on the train ever since, it's changed my life it's finally kept my hair moisturised. Like I did all the things the natural hair gurus said and didn't use it, I got the blue magic and my hair has been growing like crazy
She is soooo right. My hair grew at my elbows right at my waist just using petroleum jelly and twists . when i stoped because of the lies & myths it was hard to find a substitute. My hair loves petroleum jelly and remains moisterize well with it. My hair stopped growing after i stopped using it for several years. I started back for a year and my hair got right back at my waist again!😁
So glad I never stopped using grease! I feel the natural community lied about it because they get a lot of sponsorships and make their money from different hair brands. Grease is amazing. My hair flourishes so well.
Everything old is new again. Growing up in 60s and 70s grease is what we used. As an older woman now I recently went back to grease after years of wearing locs and now being menopausal. Menopause not only thins your hair it makes it very dry. Grease is the perfect remedy for keeping hair moisturized.
Menopause wrecks your hair. I had very thick and my hair would grow long and healthy. I wore locks for 15 years I started menopause and I started loosing locks and was thinning. I cut my locks almost a year ago it's now trying to turn around and get healthy again. My preference is the Indian hemp grease.
Menopause is a MONSTER 😵 but what have been working for my hair is what ever hair grease I use preferably blue magic or Indian hemp I add in Rosemary oil it promotes hair thickness with a few drop of tea tree oil also it's help grow my edges also.hope this helps.Blessings to you 🙌
Thank you!! I am 52, and toward the conclusion of my menopausal hair shedding cycles; Shea butter and water wasn't quite 'cutting the mustard' as Blue Magic, Dax, Indian Hemp, Sulfur 8 or Nature's Blessings...
As a mixed woman I used grease as a teenager and I never had an itchy and flaky scalp. Listening to other women about how grease clogs pores and stops hair growth I suffered so badly for years with flakes and itchiness! I would scratch so much I would have blood under my nails. Now I went back to using tcb grease and my head has not itched at all so yea I'm going back to the basics...
I reintroduced grease in September/October 2019. I was living in Arizona and nothing, I mean nothing, would keep my hair and scalp moisturized. I use African Pride and I don't regret it!
Hi! I hope you see this comment. I live in Az and my hair is so dry esp when it's 1000 degrees out. Does grease really help with moisture in tht type of weather? And does it feel like your hair is melting? Lol.
@@JayvaElev It helps because your scalp needs nutrients. Not too much and not a heavy petroleum. That's why I use African Pride. Don't overuse so your scalp can breathe but it works for me even here in Atlanta. Also I used grapeseed oil for surface hair moisturizing. Olive oil for some reason didn't work.
Lady M I'm in Brooklyn New York but I used to live in Mesa Arizona at one point... oh yes I went back to grease a year ago in the thickest and my hair is such a blessing
I've been using Blue magic with Jamaican Catrol oil. Its great for my 4C hair. Its better if you put it on your scalp at night, twist your hair and put a silk headscarf on.
KABIR Haqque that’s where the word came from though. The slaves were forced to use pig grease for their hair which kept it somewhat healthy. There’s nothing wrong with it.
Gorgeous 😍😍 I used the Indian hemp since rediscovering it from my childhood. The smell is so nostalgic. My cousin who’s natural scolded me for using it so I stoped but my hair felt so moisturized
That is exactly what was used on my hair as a kid and my hair was so long thick and beautiful. Along with a hard bristle brush. Also being braided and left alone.
The hard brittle brush stimulates hair growth. In cosmetology school, we were taught that brushing your hair with a hard brittle brush every night increases growth potential. Just be careful around your edges.
I know they lied. I purchased Blue Magic because I was using oils in my hair and it was making my scalp itch like crazy and my hair was constantly white flaking. As soon as I added Blue Magic back to my hair supplies and stopped using oil my scalp stopped itching non stop.
I just asked my mom what did she use as a kid to make my hair grow her response was simple grease and water it worked then so I tried it now. It still works
When I was little all my mom used was grease and water on my hair and I grew lot. It was only when I got older and went natural that I heard ppl saying grease was bad. SMH! I started using it again after my second big chop 2yrs ago. My Hair is growing great now! BTW You're Gorgeous!😍
Our hair flourished when we used grease as kids, so it makes sense that it will work now. I recently switched back to grease and my hair is loving it!!!
I love grease! I spray my hair with green tea, then seal it with grease and my hair stays moisturized longer than any oil I've ever used. Plus, it is easier to detangle my hair. My hair is now to my middle-lower back because of it.
I still use grease to seal in moisture and moisturize my scalp, and my hair has begun to flourish 😭✨. No shame in my game, if it works it works! Don’t shy away from the things that have been working for us since childhood! Being natural is all about returning to our essence.. that includes returning to OG products lmao🤣❤️. Amazing video as always! I’m living for your entire aesthetic 😍
Brittany Washington use a shampoo with sulfates in it. A sulfate free shampoo will not remove the grease. Something like Aussie Moist, Suave, Vo5, I personally use Mane and Tail
Blue Magic Bergamot is an absolute staple in my hair care regiment. Dr. Bonner’s Castile Peppermint Soap is my favorite. My second favorite is the tea oil one. 💙
I feel like the natural community only went against geese because it was a “black thing” to do lol I can’t explain it like they tried to shame anything we grew up doing years ago 😂
I've been natural my entire life and stopped greasing my scalp at 11, my hair is now waist length. I don't think grease works for low porosity hair. Wheatgerm oil is my best
Try to shame our very existence all while trying to engulf and take over, everything about us. I know white women that are using Shea Moisture products and they are the ones, that I thought pores would clog because some of their hair is extremely greasy.
InRealLIfe I use Shea moisture and all the other “natural” or ethnic products and I’m white. Because I grew up having my auntie (a black woman) do my hair since I was 5. I can smell prostyler and blue magic and it takes me back to being a child. Not every white person just wants to steal your culture. That’s the culture I was raised in and around.
@@keemarie1 Then you knew I wasn't talking about you, nor did I say every - anything. I take it your hair responds well, just as with black cultures somethings are assumed, white people washed their hair daily to get the grease/oil out of your hair. Well that is how it was explained to me. As I said I know white women that use these products in their hair and for the reasons i stated, I thought it was odd. They said to add moisture...okay then. And unless your auntie that you speak of is an in-law your are not 100% white, which would make sense as to why she used those type of products in your hair.
I went back to grease myself. The last time I used grease was back in high school when I used to press my own hair. My mom used to do just water and Blue Magic or water and Vaseline and brush my hair and put it in two ponytails. I had long hair when I was a kid and my mom for whatever reason took me to a salon and they gave me a perm and cut all my hair off! I just went back to my beautician about a month ago now and had her trim my ends because I had health issues. I thought my hair was jacked up. Nope she blew it out and it was long! She cracked open the Blue Magic grease and the smell took me back! My natural hair is so long and it didn't lose moisture at all. I had it straight for over 2 weeks. It wasn't greasy at all. That's what sparked me to come back. Also my hair grew 1/2 an inch in 2 weeks. I've never seen it grow so fast. So I'm back in the grease game. 😁
Finally someone telling the truth. I was raised with my mom using grease on my hair and I always been told my hair is healthy and looks like a wig. I briefly stopped using grease and returned
Thank you! The natural hair community has conditioned us to believe the old hair regimens used by our mothers and grandmothers is unhealthy. My mom BRUSHED my hair and used GREASE. My hair was the longest and healthiest.
Girl!!! You saved my life. I am transitioning and wash day and detangling has been beyond drama! I got some grease and now i can actually comb my hair. I tried everything and it didnt work. I have very dense think hair that I love but the maintenance was stressing me out. Thank you! I was able to the business of enjoying my hair. Thank you

I still use the oils too when I want a lighter hair style.....
My hair never grew with grease as a kid never past my ear
Ita. I use sulfur 8 on my scalp and grease on my strands. But my hair is relaxed.
I agree, before this "movement" came about, people had long healthy hair, and they used grease on their scalp.

I went back to grease a year ago and it’s bomb! Super hydrating and I’m mad I listened to the “no grease” hype!
But how do you rehydrate your hair? Because when I use grease and then try to spray water on my hair to style it, it is a mess!!
A. Rogado You gotta hydrate with water and then put the grease on. Grease is a sealant, it’s gonna sit on top and not penetrate.
@@a.r.tavares1322 dry shampoo your hair to remove the grease from your hair on wash day.
@@a.r.tavares1322 u might be using to much hair grease, it don't take alot to use, my hair drys out fast too

Well, even on the skin.

This is the fact: The majority of black people hair needs moisture and oil to the hair from breaking and scalp from drying out. Just that SIMPLE!

That's a fact 💯
Yep! It's all about the money!!
Single strand knots are from the devil 😂😂😂😂
Period!!!
Facts
That comment is so 'hair beauty gang'....aka Halfrican. I'm totally loving it💡
PERIODT!!! Lol
GURL!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nezi Napps been preaching this for years!
Menopause is a MONSTER 😵 but what have been working for my hair is what ever hair grease I use preferably blue magic or Indian hemp I add in Rosemary oil it promotes hair thickness with a few drop of tea tree oil also it's help grow my edges also.hope this helps.Blessings to you 🙌
miss yoli you don’t feel like the grease gets built up in your locs or have you cut them?
Thank you!! I am 52, and toward the conclusion of my menopausal hair shedding cycles; Shea butter and water wasn't quite 'cutting the mustard' as Blue Magic, Dax, Indian Hemp, Sulfur 8 or Nature's Blessings...
Kandace Noire I use grease on my locs and do see build up. I'm actually looking to do a baking soda cleans to use other products on my locs.
I liked grease when it came to braids. But I don’t like it on a regular basis.
I use African pride as well it’s great on this hair journey
Lady M I'm in Brooklyn New York but I used to live in Mesa Arizona at one point... oh yes I went back to grease a year ago in the thickest and my hair is such a blessing
@@ladym2398 thank you so much for responding. I will incorporate in buying grease then :) I mean, African Pride lol
I've been using Blue magic with Jamaican Catrol oil. Its great for my 4C hair. Its better if you put it on your scalp at night, twist your hair and put a silk headscarf on.
Essential oils, NOT GREASE! Grease is used for cooking, not hair care.
How do you apply the grease to your hair when you twist? Do you apply directly to your hair or just your scalp? Bc I need a new regimen for my fro.
KABIR Haqque that’s where the word came from though. The slaves were forced to use pig grease for their hair which kept it somewhat healthy. There’s nothing wrong with it.
As soon as I run out of all these oils, I'm going back to my grease. That's what worked for me and I'm going back to what I know 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Gorgeous 😍😍
I used the Indian hemp since rediscovering it from my childhood. The smell is so nostalgic. My cousin who’s natural scolded me for using it so I stoped but my hair felt so moisturized
Thug Drina girl what grew a bald patch out for me in no time
I love that one and the softee hair food. The Emerald Green one
Do what works for you.
I love Indian Hemp!!
Girl bye! That Indian Hemp is the truth , you should go back to using it.
That is exactly what was used on my hair as a kid and my hair was so long thick and beautiful. Along with a hard bristle brush. Also being braided and left alone.
I believe in the hard bristle brush.....😍🙇
The hard brittle brush stimulates hair growth. In cosmetology school, we were taught that brushing your hair with a hard brittle brush every night increases growth potential. Just be careful around your edges.
Funny that I’m seeing this the day after I literally said I was gonna start twisting my hair with blue magic. This is a sign 🤞🏽
I saw the 'fro and had to listen...and she mentioned castille soap,
Water, soap, grease...Big Mama was right.
This video is insanely accurate and I have my patients use petroleum jelly ALL OF THE TIME for dryness. And it works wonders for my face.
When I was little all my mom used was grease and water on my hair and I grew lot. It was only when I got older and went natural that I heard ppl saying grease was bad. SMH! I started using it again after my second big chop 2yrs ago. My Hair is growing great now! BTW You're Gorgeous!😍
Gr8 advice. I went back to grease also on my natural hair
I love that she owns her natural hair. It's so beautiful. I don't know how i feel about Grease but I think for certain hair textures its necessary.
Our hair flourished when we used grease as kids, so it makes sense that it will work now.
I recently switched back to grease and my hair is loving it!!!
wow you are one of the very few natural hair youtuber who i can't actually listened to and feel educated cause you speak facts
Queen _giaa Amen 🙏🏾 I went back to the products my mother used!
Great comment Queen _giaa I agree completely!
What do you use to wash it out? I started back using grease but the shampoo I have didn’t wash all of it out.
Brittany Washington use a shampoo with sulfates in it. A sulfate free shampoo will not remove the grease.
Something like Aussie Moist, Suave, Vo5, I personally use Mane and Tail
Blue Magic Bergamot is an absolute
staple in my hair care regiment. Dr. Bonner’s Castile Peppermint Soap is my favorite. My second favorite is the tea oil one. 💙
Yes, yes, yesssssss and yes😤. I even love sulphur 8 grease as well. I went back to basics and my hair is loving it🤗🤗🤗
Bergamot's carrot oil leave in conditioner does awesome twists and twist outs. I have 4c hair and my hair soaks it up.
Khadija That's it I’m definitely going to try those two products you mentioned. I haven’t used sulfur 8 since I was a kid.
That my favorite soap ever. Shampoo and body wash and can clean my tub at once?! Yes please
Kimmy.lux Exactly!!! I make my homemade toothpaste from it too. DIY ‘s are my thing 😁
I feel like the natural community only went against geese because it was a “black thing” to do lol I can’t explain it like they tried to shame anything we grew up doing years ago 😂
Girl yes I understand what you mean
And unless your auntie that you speak of is an in-law your are not 100% white, which would make sense as to why she used those type of products in your hair.
she’s GORGEOUS/ her hair is AMAZING 😂
I'm sitting here in Baltimore applauding your hoodie lol
Jah Wilson... and i am in the ncr, doing the same.
go ravens!!!
Me too girl lol 😄
Nah good people, Eagle Nation!!
It's why I clicked this video #RavensFlock 👿
AMEN SIS
Thank you
