Ben your on track to a huge career as a top level analyst and there is no one out there doing a deep dive into the mind and thinking of the best riders like you. #priceless.
This is one of the most brutal WC vids I've seen from you Cathro - is there usually this many crashes and they just don't make the cut, or are these stumps a real step up in danger?
Greg was so fast when he went down the knew rough section with one leg kicking. I saw Finn Iles pre-hop over the new stump that kicks riders OTB and he was SO FAST!
I would love to try mountain biking but seeing those crashes, all I can see is how easily or quickly I'd break a bone haha. These guys are properly impressive to get back up and keep going
Those poles drilled in the wood are the most dangerous thing on course. Just move them 30 cms further and nobody will get hurt. Is it really THAT DIFFICULT?
@Nick Maclachlan sure, I totally get it. But I can't think there isn't a better solution for that! Just think about the extremely flexible slalom poles...
@Nick Maclachlan well, slalom racers slam those poles with their carbon fibre sticks at 50/60 km/h, and they don't break so... They might hold the impact of a pedal at 20kmh in those tech sections
The whistles are for safety. There are race marshals at various intervals down the track. When a rider approaches they blow the whistle to warn people downhill who might be stopped on the track or crossing over.
I can't believe nobody has been impaled by one of those metal poles holding the tape up yet. I hope it never happens. There's got to be a better way to do the tape.
Pigtails are metal but the plastic ones only have metal in the end like a nail where they dig into the ground. Hit those and they either bend and whip back up or snap. Farmers use them to keep stock behind a temporary wire in New Zealand. Be way safer than those things.
@@Tony-dh very cool! Thanks for educating me. I've seen what looks like rebar on the sides of ews courses, and I assumed this was the same. I'm glad to hear the metal is just in the end near the ground. Thanks again for taking the time to explain it to me.
Last year it was Phil and his hardtail, this year it the unknown Endurobro
He is a French rider and he is sooooo fast !!
Ben Cathro is a LEGEND!!
Anyone know anything about the guy in the enduro bike? Not fast as the guys in dh but looking very good
Ben your on track to a huge career as a top level analyst and there is no one out there doing a deep dive into the mind and thinking of the best riders like you. #priceless.
@2:01 Watch the enduro skills and the water bottle ;)
Looks like a reign
he was the smoothest through there
i know right, super super super smooth
So the key to making a super gnarly WC track is to cut down a bunch of trees and ride over the stumps. Got it.
Ben is a genius! Awesome editing!
These videos make the live stream so much better!
Love Ben Cathro's enthusiasm and tech know-how. Great presenter
Damn that video is amazing! We need #Cathrovision! We need more analysis like this, longer videos, more!
Love the dual overlays. Just like they do in DH Skiing. 🎿🚵🏻♀️🚵♂️
This section will be fun to watch. The analysis videos with rider feedback are great.
3:06 I want more stuff like that
salchi papeame esta 😂 agreed
i like this guy great charisma and technical knowledge
Awesome analysis!!! Thank You. Can't wait for the race!
Super interesting that the smoothest riders are all hopping the back wheel over that first stump, some serious bike control
Who is this guy? Bring back Tippie I say.
Big fan of you Ben,keep up the awesome work:)
Big Ben
You must be a night owl, Ben! ;)
They need to get you a much louder hat. Maybe pinkbike in al the different colors or something. #wewant$
Sorry, mate. Cathro's commentary is head and shoulders above Tippe.
This is one of the most brutal WC vids I've seen from you Cathro - is there usually this many crashes and they just don't make the cut, or are these stumps a real step up in danger?
I think the general consensus is that the course tape poles next to the stumps are the danger, not the stumps themselves.
Well they did move the one pole farther to the riders right. But yeah, lots-o-over the bars action. You could see the collar bones squirming in fear.
@@Peanutdenver mine (broken once) did hurt just from watching
@@FfortheT I feel ya
Great analysis Ben! Keep up the good work.
Awesome stuff Ben. That track seems savage, so many otb's. Surprised anyone is left for the actual race without a concussion.
OH BEN! U MADE IT BRO! LOVE BEN CATHRO
You know its a good one soon as you see Ben Cathro 🤘🤘🤘. So good insides of lines
Fantastic video analysis! Keep up the great work and more of these please!
Ben Cathro is the man! Great analysis
Definitely rooting for Greg.He is the king of the mountains no doubt.
man your channel is awesoooome, found u yesterday, watching all the past ones, amazing work, WP!!
Great content as always from Ben Cathro. Love his videos. Give him more sending time. ;)
Rachel Hannah, oh my! This is gonna be tough!
Great Vid to show how riders choose the different lines on a challenging course. Cheers PB from PB.

awesome stuff again Ben!

dat dude on the giant reign is smooooooooth
Cathro finally got a new hat!
That stump sorts them out. If it was on my track I would fix it easy. Even a few shovels of dirt at the top of it.
sick!
Pinkbike nr 1 !
Great video cathro
Cathro for president #cathrovision
Einfach nur geil 🤘
Yea Ben!
More like The Most Important Stump at the Leogang 2019 World Cup DH
Oh gods Kaos is a literal male Tahnee, I know their siblings but still, its uncanny
Who is that guy on the reign, he’s shredding that track!
Enduro bro nailed that stump section- super smooth, how'd he do?
4:37 NO!
Yes Ben! 👊

You forgot tahnee seagrave
GOOOO CONORRRRR
Yes
Yoh started with a 5 ten cap and ended with a pink bike one ?
thanks man
Athertons bike sounds like it was gonna fall apart
What's the whistling for?
Unbelievable negligence from the course officials to put that marker there. Not even borderline, just completely unsafe.
Love this vids, tnx!!!
whoever did the stabilzation on the pole at 3:07 can I be your best friend plz?
who is the guy on the enduro bike?
Fastest sprinter wins? in DH?
Looks like the section doesn't allow enough speed to send it but couldn't they just bunny hop it?
3:06 8:01 8:07 favourite part
i know nothing about downhill or the sport i do normal trail rideing but what is all the whislte blowing for

Nice
Austria! Well then... g'day mate. Let's put anotha shrimp on the barbie...
What’s with Ratboy Josh Bryceland? asked myself today where he ended up...
Hi guys
This track is the 🦂 🤣
Those stump sections are sketch. Also it looked like where Kaos crashed anyone who landed front wheel before that second root was going over the bars
Come on Ben it’s Trachel Hanerthan
What's with the whistle?
See my reply to Carlos Mendoza above.
FUN

hardtail party we use pig tail or plastic electric fence standards
@@Tony-dh interesting. Isnther any rebar inside the plastic?

i still need to know who the guy on the reign is
Pierre Lunel
Almost makes you a little mad at these course builders for making such poor pole placement!
Fixing the poles sounds like a dangerously stupid idea. Shouldnt they move?!
Poor Kaos's helmet
Who the hell rides that on an enduro bike? 2:01
Was the smoothest out of all of them tho
@@tomsharpe8181 you have to be if you're that much of a psychopath.
Pierre Lunel
Somehow he looked the smoothest
Is anyone selling collarbones down the bottom?...make a fortune....
I love you down hill
nacho esparza uphill: 😢
noone like cathro
Start worrying about Aaron, hopefully he won’t hit the poles tomorrow
Wheels and bikes look too big !!!!!
What the fuck uci! Those poles are so sketch!
Who d fuck put that pole in there?
Who ever taped off this course should be kicked off the mountain! Wtfffff
