Alicia Grimes that’s just it. Half the people at that party she didn’t know personally. It was a business meeting. That is the reason it stuck out. My first assumption was also that they just weren’t friends.
Why can’t they sell the minis in every complexion. If it’s a mini to something and they have in the full size in that color it should also be available in mini sizes. Am I missing something?
NARS carries "minis" in every shade, and has always had an inclusive range. Unfortunately, they are on the "pricier" end of the cost spectrum, and have been pushed out of the running by cheaper brands, so noone really talks about the brand anymore...
It’s my understanding that mini products actually cost more to produce. Companies are all about squeezing every last cent they can out of people, so they’ll never make a more expensive (on their end) item with tons of options. It’s why most companies will only offer their best selling shades that way. The better way to go would be to offer a proper range online. Put the best sellers in stores, but also pepper in less commonly sold colors so people can get a sense of them. That way if you wanted to buy online you’re not doing so totally blind. That or they could do things like ABC colors are exclusive in store with Nordstrom, XYZ is exclusive to Sephora.
in my opinion, the only products that can legitimately be made with the "universal" tag is lipstick colours. other items i.e. brow pencils, powders, face palettes, etc... I roll my eyes everytime I see them 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Even lipstick colors can’t really be considered universal what might be one shade of red on someone white is not going to look the same on me due to my skintone being deeper and undertones etc.

This was a great video and I hope these brands are put on notice.
Intelligent human damn liliana was showing her support towards dark skin women and you say “ we all know white people hate black people” smh this type of attitude fuels racism. If someone’s supporting you Don’t shut them down. Thats just not right and I’m not saying she needs praise either.
Intelligent human wtf you think black people had no help from non blacks during the civil rights timeline. We had a whole damn white president and his brother who allied with blacks and prominent leader like MLK. We still need those allies to progress forward. if everyone had that way of thinking, we’d be no where.
Intelligent human Yikes. This is the type of behavior that makes people racist. How are you going to further divide people when they are going out of their way to support you 🙄 I’ll never understand all the hatred people hold towards entire particular groups of people. Your prejudice is showing.
Vio Venda i agree with you that what she did was wrong but this isn’t what “makes” people racist. People are racist because they choose to be. There are people who do put people down no matter what they do which isn’t fair but it’s also not fair to be racist to a whole group of people just because of people like that. Just as how it’s not fair to be prejudice against all white people just because some are racist.
Personally, everytime I hear the word “universal” pertaining towards contouring/bronzing products, I just think they were too lazy to make more shades.. 🤷🏽♀️ #IJS
Hourglass continually launches horrible shade ranges in there blushes, face palettes, and concealers. Also, any brands that launch blushes with one (1) kinda dark merlot shade and 15 pale pinks.
It's interesting what these companies definition is of "universal" and "nude"?🤔 Companies have been making the same excuse over 50 years! Thank you for continuing the struggle!💪
I was literally just talking about the morphe foundation yesterday about how some of those shades were straight up GREEN! Like where have they seen green people walking around. And the "dark" shades all looking orange....sis....dark skinned people are not orange. 😒 like come on now.
@@anagoyette8040 yes. Girl I have a hard time finding a shade for myself in the medium range because I'm cool toned. Most companies only make cool tone/rosy in very fair. I cant wear anything too faced (not that I want to) because it's all golden yellow. 😒 like what is up with that?
Why are you that pretty? how? I finish every single video with no idea what it was even about because you're THAT level of pretty I can't concentrate in what you're saying, girl I'm convinced you're a goddess, I can't.
Thank you for calling this out and educating lighter people on these issues. As a mixed race Asian / White woman, I never have to worry about whether a brand will stock my golden tan colour. Every brand does. I've never thought about how it feels for dark skin women to not have that readily available. Thanks for opening my eyes so I can question brands too. 🙏🙌 Love your content.
They need to also hire more POC so that the right influencers can receive the PR and create better products for different skin tones maybe🤗. Great video!
I have the “privilege” that I can find my shade very easily but I still am mad at brands that have 50 shades of white and 3 shades for darker skin like excuse me umm are you trying to include everyone ? I agree with everything you said my bestie always has a hard time finding her shade at the drugstore :( anyone has drugstore brands that are universal and amazing let me know please xoxo love your channel
I think most brands carter to the medium of fair to medium/light dark skin, in which end up being 50 shades of beige and orange browns. it is very hard to find shades in dark of spectrum and the light aswell, if you are not a standard porcelain, but even fairer than that. Have she tried Maybeline's fit me line? If they still carry the dark shades, they had at the launch.
Revolution is quite inclusive but shades do tend to be sometimes off even on the lighter skinned side of the spectrum which is more formula/pigment side but they include a load of shades but most has to be bought off their site as the drugstores don't stock all shades as the stores only order what they think or claim will sell
This is how you can tell the difference between a brand that recognizes that deep skin actually exists and deserves the access to makeup just like EVERYONE ELSE and the brand who think dark skin is a trend

I've never worn makeup (still don't) so it's only in recent years, thanks to beauty youtubers like you, that I started noticing how much darker skin tones are overlooked and disrespected in the makeup industry. It's insane and unacceptable how this is still happening to this day, I truly don't get it. It would be SO SIMPLE for companies to have a larger shade range, what's the deal with them? PS: you're so pretty omg
I'm super pale but I LOVE your channel so much! ❤ I feel like you do an amazing job at explaining these issues to people that dont understand or experience them. I never thought about why inclusion was important until I watched your videos. You have such class and poise, I love it!
I actually loved watching this video, very eye opening and I agree with all the products that you have mentioned. You were honest and still very classy. You also talked about things I didn't even realise -such as the PR and marketing issue
So this is my first video of Nymas and I can already tell she is a great person. When she started talking about how she is a resource for other people, I thought that was the sweetest thing.
I really question brands that make “universal” skin products. How in the world is a bronzer going to work the same way on the palest skin and the darkest skin. ITS NOT GONNA.
I'm so pale I'm almost translucent and yet I will watch this to the end. Love the way she discusses the products. Her feedback on stuff is so educational, even if often not relatable to me! I'm so happy there's more POC people in the beauty community too who know what they want.
I know absolutely nothing about makeup, but I love your videos. You're like freakin' gorgeous and your personality is like a breath of fresh air. Even when you're saying something negative about a product, you still make it like so diplomatic and still positive? Like if you were a CEO or a boss literally you'd have the most positive environment.
I love these types of videos because as a consumer I want to buy from a company that makes shades for ALL women and men. I don’t want nothing to do with a company that doesn’t market to everyone. 🤷🏻♀️
UD did try it with that palette and the powders for sure lol I love it when you call out these companies they need to hear it. ND was wrong for that too they just adjusted the skin tone on the 1 arm they had in their promo. Morphe shades were crazy!! Agree with all of this.
The thing that also angers me is when eyebrow products don’t come in shades for red heads. Sometimes brands like ABH and benefit have value deals for the brows. They purposely exclude the redheads. Like jeez
Cookie Crumbler ABH has an Auburn shade for brows. I have several of them. I use Caramel and Auburn and they work well for me. Obviously I’m not Nyma’s skin shade, but she has really good info and I trust her judgment. I have many friends who are WOC of her shade or a bit darker and I want to be respectful when gifting makeup by knowing a bit about how they will look and act on their skin tone.
Damn, Nyma literally spits facts. I’m a brown girl and I realised how I’m able to find my shades and it’s not as hard as for my sisters with deeper complexions. This is annoying, brands are literally dropping things in the name of beating each other while ignoring the consumers and their needs. FFS.
I love how you're not speaking from a victim mentality, but like you're demanding something, that reflects strength and I love the way you aproach things, not in a whiny tone, but in a calm yet determined way. I think that's the best way to make progress towards a goal. I'm just mentioning this because people on the Internet tend to be the opposite.
It's so impressive how you manage to point out problems without being mean! I am at the opposite end of the skin tone spectrum and I used to think it was hard for me to find products, but you have helped me see that there are so many other issues I wasn't aware of.

@@alexhallow5119 are you trolling, or are you seriously this ignorant with all these comments?
I think you’re confusing ignorance with hurting your feels maybe? Everything I’ve stated is factual. Google is a useful tool
@@alexhallow5119 Say what now?
@@poisonousparadox2971 They're trolling, they just want to get a rise out of us. They keep parroting the same cherry-picked interpretations of demographic data to further their own points, instead of listening to what everyone keeps repeating back at them: it doesn't matter that black people are kept as poor as possible through redlining, job discrimination, and the school-to-prison pipeline in the USA. We still like to look good, and we spend money on it. 💁🏽♀️🇺🇸💄
Thank. You. The palest shades in ranges are not pale enough for me and the darkest shades are not dark enough for nyma. Let’s go makeup industry women are all shades and colours not three.
It’s funny because when Jacklyn Hill through that party I was wondering why you hadn’t been invited. You ain’t the only one who peeped that.
*threw
Oonagh72 maybe they’re just not friends ???
Alicia Grimes that’s just it. Half the people at that party she didn’t know personally. It was a business meeting. That is the reason it stuck out. My first assumption was also that they just weren’t friends.
I unsubbed from her long time ago. Fake as hell and looks like thunder cats now, lol.
@@bobfryfish Not thundercats 😂🤣😂
Why can’t they sell the minis in every complexion. If it’s a mini to something and they have in the full size in that color it should also be available in mini sizes. Am I missing something?
NARS carries "minis" in every shade, and has always had an inclusive range. Unfortunately, they are on the "pricier" end of the cost spectrum, and have been pushed out of the running by cheaper brands, so noone really talks about the brand anymore...
No you're right. I agree, it just makes sense.
Minis tend to be “best sellers” they’re not suitable for a lot of people in the grand scheme of things
OH MY GOD! YES! I have been on the hunt for this all day today. Nothing for POC in the UK!!!!!!
“Universal” to makeup companies seems to mean “white, spray-tan influencers”... 🙄
Universal products:
-False lashes
-Lash glue ig
-Eyeliner
-Mascara
-Clear lip gloss
-Clear lip gloss but this time there's sparkles
- Nail polish
-Lip balm
-
Funny thing is that even a few of those wouldn’t work for everybody. One type of falsies doesn’t work for every eye shape for example
@@FAlRYERl True. And depending on formula eyeliner and mascara is not universal

Nyma is literally glowing from inside out she’s soooo pretty what 😭💞
I was gunna say! She usually is beautiful but she made me audibly gasp when I opened the vid this time
Kells Leigh I know!!!! Literally a queen
Omg our struggle. Everything you just mentioned is DEAD ON!! That Morphe one oooooooo it was BAAADDD!!
Love you BOTH so very much! Glad you young ladies are out here repping beauty and changing the landscape.
Yass it was!!
Yikes. Some of them looked greenish!
Why don’t you just purchase from the many companies that already cater to your skin tones specifically?
@@alexhallow5119 many? Name 10
in my opinion, the only products that can legitimately be made with the "universal" tag is lipstick colours. other items i.e. brow pencils, powders, face palettes, etc... I roll my eyes everytime I see them 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Unless it's clear it ain't Universal
Mascara as well.
Or any product that's transparent
Even lipstick colors can’t really be considered universal what might be one shade of red on someone white is not going to look the same on me due to my skintone being deeper and undertones etc.
The Fenty Blotting powder is works!
omg her blouse in this video is so freaking cute! and the color looks so pretty on her!
Trying to concentrate on what she’s saying because she’s a gorgeous, glowing goddess 🙂🙃🙂🙃
This hair suits you so damn well! Giving me Naomi Campbell vibes...QUEEN👸🏿😍💕
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who saw that she was giving us Naomi 😍
I love it too!
Same thing I was thinking!! She's so beautiful
💯💯💯💯
She looks just like Naomi with that hair and this cheeks!!
i was so distracted the entire video by how gorgeous she looks
Daniela Osorio SAME 😭😍😍😍
I am going to watch this again, b/c this look is AWESOME!!
Literally, she's literally glowing
Sameeeeee
Her skin just GLOWS, my dusty skin could never 🤩
Hands down nyma has the most beautiful skin i have ever seen
She looks so healthy and hydrated and radiant. ♡
Honestly can't wait for when Nyma decides to launch a makeup line
This is how you do it...she is so classy and speaks so clearly and is so consistent she gets her point and message across with sounding preachy or problematic. Get it sis
Morphe's foundation shades are still a mystery to me... More than half of the lighter shades cannot be used by any humans...no humans are grey or green 🙄
Dumitrita Bulgariu maybe they made it for ppl who do makeup on dead ppl🙊
My friend has actually green undertone in her skin and all usual pale makeups are very orange on her...
Aesir Selaxis woah
Aesir Selaxis I have olive skin and the struggle is real EVERYTHING looks orange or pink or even blue??
My friend who's Persian said, "Yeah, we're grey people." 🤣🤣
Finally someone is addressing this. It’s 2020 we don’t want to look ashy. And Nyma you are gorgeous ❤️🙌🏾
Even Fenty can improve!! They did right by changing the game, but they can move on up too. 🌸
“If it’s ashy, it’s ashy”😂😂
I didn’t see African American representation at J Hill’s launch party. There may have been 1 A/A person in the pictures that I saw from her party so I refused to give her my coins.
Simply Tracy exactly I simply will not give J. Hill any of my hard earned money. She’s so fake it’s a shame
95% of the famous beauty gurus are white sadly... i dont think she just didn’t invited poc cuz they were black, they were just inexistent
Simply Tracy .
@@patii9866 No, don't make excuses for Jaclyn. Think about the channel you're commenting on; Nyma exists! And if there's not a lot of darker-skinned beauty gurus why not start pulling from the rest of the world and inviting makeup artists and celebrities? Hell, if you wanna be inclusive, why not just invite people who are interested in makeup? I'm sure they'd be psyched about going to a launch party!
Felicity Dawn im just saying she didnt care about diversity. Doesnt matter if they were black or any other race, she wanted that money probably. She posts only when she sells something so its clear she send invitation to the richest/ most popular ones wich are WhItE smh
Y'all remember Beauty Blender's joke of a launch for foundation?!
Nyma has changed in a really good way, compare to her past videos. She is now MORE open about her opinion, she is radiating even more and she talks more.
This is what I want to see. Mad love for Nyma
Regarding Jaclyn's highlighters I felt the exact same way, I'm like how do you not send them to darker skin people. I'm not going in blind and buying her products without seeing a review from someone who is at least a similar shade to me, so her getting my money was a hard NO. This was a great video and I hope these brands are put on notice.
She also only sent like 1 product, vs the full line/PR thing, to smaller influencers 🤦🏻♀️
@@miso8090 Right, I forgot all about that.
Giving me Naomi Campbell with this hair and makeup 😍
UMICL I was looking for this comment. Thought exactly the same thing.
This was full of facts. Everybody knows Jacklyn Hill ain’t planning to pay no attention to nobody black except the next black president.
Vona Goodpaster amen sis!
Intelligent human Yikes. This is the type of behavior that makes people racist. How are you going to further divide people when they are going out of their way to support you 🙄
I’ll never understand all the hatred people hold towards entire particular groups of people.
Video idea: full face (as much as possible) of "universal" makeup. It would be interesting to see.
Personally, everytime I hear the word “universal” pertaining towards contouring/bronzing products, I just think they were too lazy to make more shades.. 🤷🏽♀️
#IJS
right because i just knowww it's not gonna be universal. its gonna be exclusive, ashy, geared towards lighter people, or all of the above 💀
Whitney Huskins and the very fair shades being yellow af. 😩

I’m not a woman of colour but I get so excited every time you post I love your videos and your personality
Yep they dropped the ball with the stay naked powders. I was really confused
Inker's Tales Thank you !! I’ll tell her to check it out and it’s not very expensive have a nice day xo
Revolution is quite inclusive but shades do tend to be sometimes off even on the lighter skinned side of the spectrum which is more formula/pigment side but they include a load of shades but most has to be bought off their site as the drugstores don't stock all shades as the stores only order what they think or claim will sell
AaronW3440 Alright thank you 😊
When you said “Universal does not exist...” you said a word girl! 🙌🏾
Girl tell me about that hair!!! A wig, a weave, a blowout, a relaxer....what????!!! I love it! ❤️❤️❤️ I need it! I want to replicate that!!!
Its a beautiful and well constructed wig
Luvly Li663 it’s a wig
Bloomy Cookie it’s a fabulous looking wig! and those lashes too. 😍 Flattering natural beauty look.
This is how you can tell the difference between a brand that recognizes that deep skin actually exists and deserves the access to makeup just like EVERYONE ELSE and the brand who think dark skin is a trend
good god girl I haven't seen you pop up in my recommended in a while and you have gained some kind of confidence in the last year or so!! I'm loving it, you're gorgeous and I love how you're glowing inside and out, your personality really shines through x
Nikita's palette cover is absolute nightmare fuel. That fails anyone with common sense >.
I don’t get it can you explain it? Ty, i was planning on buying
@@mellisawatts1282 the colour correctors are really good. totally recommend buying those.
i stopped watching beauty gurus for a hot minute including nyma, but this was on my recommended and she looks absolutely GLOWING i live
I love the makeup look, top, and your jewelry so much!
I'm very curious to see what you chose for the biggest disappointments. ❤️
Nyma's skin looks amazing.
right?? it’s not even just her skin tone, it’s so smooth and even i actually can’t - 🥺
Calling out Jaclyn and her blatant racism is not dogpiling is justice. Hugz!!!
You're so nice! I wish the beauty community could go back to being this honest and well mannered.
That blouse shines brighter than my future
I'm super pale but I LOVE your channel so much! ❤ I feel like you do an amazing job at explaining these issues to people that dont understand or experience them. I never thought about why inclusion was important until I watched your videos. You have such class and poise, I love it!
I actually loved watching this video, very eye opening and I agree with all the products that you have mentioned. You were honest and still very classy.
You also talked about things I didn't even realise -such as the PR and marketing issue
I love how radiant and luminous her skin is. She looks like a goddess
So this is my first video of Nymas and I can already tell she is a great person. When she started talking about how she is a resource for other people, I thought that was the sweetest thing.
I love videos like this because it really brings to light the importance of having this conversation of inclusiveness
Nyma telling it like it is, and keeping it real for the dark skinned girls. Yass!!! 👸🏿👸🏾
I really question brands that make “universal” skin products. How in the world is a bronzer going to work the same way on the palest skin and the darkest skin. ITS NOT GONNA.
as the palest person i know it does not work it can almost make me look like i am doing black face
I get you with the Sephora mini collection. JH I don’t think she is POC friendly. 🤷🏽♀️
Nyma's face/look is very 2020! Love it.
I love these types of videos because as a consumer I want to buy from a company that makes shades for ALL women and men. I don’t want nothing to do with a company that doesn’t market to everyone. 🤷🏻♀️
She’s out here throwing shade in the nicest way possible on these big corporate brands, and I am so, so here for it.
This girl has the toughest time within the makeup industry and yet she’s the kindest and sweetest person on this planet
Your skin is *chef's kiss* stunning!
Leave “universal” in 2019 or at least get on the same page definition-wise. Few products can be appreciated by every single skin tone or skin type
UD did try it with that palette and the powders for sure lol I love it when you call out these companies they need to hear it. ND was wrong for that too they just adjusted the skin tone on the 1 arm they had in their promo. Morphe shades were crazy!! Agree with all of this.
nyma looks so much more comfortable in herself than when i started watching her. i’m so proud of her!!!
she is genuinely the most beautiful woman i’ve ever seen, you go girl
I’m not a redhead, but I have also always wondered this..
Not a red head but have you tried light brown eyebrow gel? I’ve got light eyebrows and it’s not too obvious
Someone had to address all of these. Thanks for doing it babe💓
I love that your videos have a lot of informative content but are relatively short. You get right to the point.
Girllll, look at your skin, you are GLOWING
Damn, Nyma literally spits facts. I’m a brown girl and I realised how I’m able to find my shades and it’s not as hard as for my sisters with deeper complexions. This is annoying, brands are literally dropping things in the name of beating each other while ignoring the consumers and their needs. FFS.
girl this HAIR on you. whew, in love
Why is nyma so pretty?!? Stunning
I'm white as a wall, but I guess I'm here for the shade
I love how you're not speaking from a victim mentality, but like you're demanding something, that reflects strength and I love the way you aproach things, not in a whiny tone, but in a calm yet determined way. I think that's the best way to make progress towards a goal. I'm just mentioning this because people on the Internet tend to be the opposite.
It's so impressive how you manage to point out problems without being mean! I am at the opposite end of the skin tone spectrum and I used to think it was hard for me to find products, but you have helped me see that there are so many other issues I wasn't aware of.
