"I'm not gonna compare two different singers in the same band" THANK YOU! As someone who appreciates all 3 singers Nightwish has had, I heartily appreciate this.

I love Nightwish with all 3 singers. I love Tarjas dark, cold style, Annettes melodic, caring voice. And my favorite albums are 2 with Annette. BUT FLOOR, that women is goddes. She has by far best voice of 3. Can sing Tarja and Annettes songs and make them her own, and some are batter then original. She has by far best stage presence, and is very obvious that she really care and appriciate Nightwish.

I stopped listening to Nightwish when Taja left. I like powerful female vocals, Anette who is the singer following Tarja just didn't do it for me. 2 years ago I saw on RUclips, Ghost Love Score live at Waken with Floor and I thought to myself, what the hell let me take a listen. I was absolutely blown away!! Ghost Love Score is one of my favorite songs with Tarja. I didn't think it would be possible for me to like any other version of GLS better than the End of an Era version. That sent me into a mission to listen to everything Floor has done with Nightwish and her other bands. It's a great journey, even checking out some songs from Anette like Slow Love Slow. Enjoy your Nightwish Journey, it's epic!!

Very similar, I still kept with them, but my interest in the band certain petered. I listened to the Tarja stuff fairly heavily and select tracks off of the new stuff. I actually bought Endless Forms Most Beautiful not realising that they had switched singers and thought "wow, they finally made some music suiting Anette's voice, well done." Then the algorithm decided I should watch someone doing the reaction to Waken GLS (possibly one of my all-time favourite songs) and I was blown away by the performance, and all the comments were talking about Floor, so I did a deep dive into the stuff with her, and I am so in love with this band again.

Regarding the yellow microphone, she actually uses multiple different colored microphone and changes multiple times throughout the concert. She starts off with a yellow coat with black pantsuit/yellow mic for the first couple of songs (Dark Chest of Wonder, Planet Hell, Ever Dream, The Kinslayer, and Phantom of the Opera), then she goes without the yellow coat and is dressed in just black with a black microphone for The Siren, then she uses a white dress/microphone during Sleeping Sun, switching to the black dress with yellow accents and the yellow microphone for Bless the Child, Wishmaster, and Slaying the Dreamer, afterward switching to a red coat/black pants and a red microphone for Nemo and Ghost love Score, finally switching back to a white microphone but a DIFFERENT white dress (Actually a white skirt and a white corset-style top) for Over The Hills And Far Away along with I Wish I Had An Angel (The final song in the performance). She uses various interludes, acoustic songs, and Marco's High Hopes to give time to change so many times.

Attended 3 Nightwish concerts in Tarja era, man, those days, even got to meet her and the band and have pics with all of them in tour bus. I even caught Jukka's drumstick on the concert from this tour! It's still on the wall in front of me. I'm living those memories again through this! I'm happy to see you join the army, awesome reaction! :) Tarja was our original goddess, we were in love with her :) When they dumped her I was sad like someone close to me died :( And when Tuomas brought Anette, a more of a pop rock singer, who couldn't sing all those epic Tarja era songs, it was even more devastating. We all though we will never experience this magic again. It's hard to describe happiness when they announced Floor is coming to Nightwish, things were finally right again in this world :) But still for us OG Nightwish fans Tarja will always remain in the heart as our original goddess :)

You can't compare them, that's what I pray over and over. Tarja was the voice that made Nightwish that popular, the crystal queen between the bad guys 😁. There were several bands out there doing similar stuff (not to say hundreds) that time, but they shined out due to her sound and the sound of the band in that context. Would Nightwish with Floor there where they are now at the beginning? I don't think so, but that is subjunctively. Every band is making progress and developments within the years and they are still outstanding in what they do and how they do it. I'm repeating myself: NW fan again 🙌

Oh cool your first Tarja era song was Wishmaster! Refreshing, as the reaction army always asks Phantom of the Opera first. You probably noticed plenty of goth girls in the audience? I'll tell you a story. Once around year 2000, don't remember exactly, I was in Tampere city center, and it was crawling with girls in black, with black long hairs. One couldn't unsee it, don't recall any more how many I saw, must have been in dozens. I was wondering is there a witch confrence here or what? Then a friend of mine told that no, there was a Nightwish concert, and they were probably on way there. I don't remember if it was the Tampere 2000 concert, or somewhere else, plenty of them girls in the railroad station, I don't recall were they coming or going. But she was a goddess to a generation of Goth girls, at least here in Finland, probably everywhere where NW got famous.

Tuomas and Emppu were having fun at that moment, but remember one thing Tank: this was their last concert with her.
After it they fired her. If you want to see how Tuomas really felt you have to watch the last song from the concert. Where he holds his head in the hands for a while after the song had ended. He knew he had made a deicision that would affect them, and especially him the next year.

    • @TankTheTech

    • @Ozzy_2014
      @Ozzy_2014 Год назад +2

@@TankTheTech worse that they didn't even tell her to her face. Even cowardly told her not to open it until tomorrow. By which point at about 2am CET they published a copy. What I know is after Tuomas' father passed Tarja reached out to him and since then the past is being buried. Now Marko & Tarja met up and made up during a Xmas concert either 2012/13. Reports of hugging and crying and you can see them holding each other during a duet later. Another show they sang a duet of Ave Maria she wrote. Few years later while both at a festival in summer Tarja had Marco as a guest on stage. Those two settled issues then. As far as Emppu and Jakku ( o.g. one) I don't know other as a band they admit to handling things badly and the wrong way. This was airing dirty laundry in public instead of finding a neutral place and moderator to sort things out in private. Discuss legal rights and a public statement from the band.
Easy enough to announce Tarja taking a leave from the band to pursue both her Christmas album and 1st solo rock album. 2 years and they can decide if they'll produce another album together or rework the contract releasing her from her obligations. Lots of time to be adults. But drugs/booze and youthful pride got in the way.
Her getting married changed the dynamic. Can you blame a married woman not wanting to share dressing rooms and sleeping quarters with her male band mates who have been partying? Even if nothing inappropiate happened it would still lead to rumours. It gives the apperance of impropriety. Not cool. Not fair to her or her husband Marcello. 20 years married as of Dec 31, 2022. As someone whose faith is of importance to her, I fully understand. Never mind incident I was told of where she was attacked on stage who tried to disrobe her in Mexico. Where its reported the band did nothing but then manager Marcello called security to protect her. Yeah not exactly high on the trust meter these folks.
Anyways her solo career soars and new album Outlanders is out in a week.

I can say how it is to explore Nightwish with Tarja & after that Anette & Floor. My 1st Nightwish experience (2005 I believe) was actually a Nightwish concert at the Schleyerhalle in Stuttgart/Germany.
I heard the "Once" album for the 1st live at this concert & some of their older classics & I was just instantly in love. And so it was with every other singer or member of the band that left & came. I trust Nightwish to pick & choose what's the best for themselves & their art. I was never disappointed (:
    Nice reaction - as always.

Next (after next week): From this same concert "Planet Hell". Jukka (drummer) has his time to shine... + "The Siren".
Old Nightwish from 2000 (from "Wishes To Eternity"), cover song: "Walking in the Air".
There are special events and twists and turns in life. Think of these members of Nightwish, for example.
When Nightwish was on a European tour in the early 2000s, Floor’s band was their support band. Floor then looked at Tarja, thinking that one day I want to be like her. And now she is a member of Nightwish!
When Nightwish was young, they were on a concert tour supporting a band for a Finnish metal band called Tarot. Tarot was founded by the Hietala brothers (Marko bass and Sakari guitar). Marko watched from Tuomas that that man has a book in his hand as soon as he has free time. And Marko thought, I would definitely get along well with that man (Marko also reads a lot). And now Marko has been a member of Nightwish for 19 years ...
When Tarja was a child, she started playing the piano at the age of 6. Her piano teacher was ..., Tuomas' mother! So Tuomas and Tarja knew each other on some level right from childhood (Tarja 6 and Tuomas 7 years old at the time.)
Maybe you would also like to get to know Marko's first band? Tarot. He was the bassist and singer of the band.
    "Tides" ruclips.net/video/3X9lLP7eHW0/видео.html
    That was recorded in 2007.

The "End of an Era" DVD is great, "The Siren, "Sleeping Sun", "Phantom of the Opera", "Kinslayer", some nice songs to listen to.
If you want to check some good old Nightwish stuff, take a look at "From Wishes to Eternity" DVD, Tarja's voice was more mezzo-soprano and the band had a Power Metal-ish sound.
Some songs from that DVD: "Walking in the Air"; "Swanheart", "Sacrament of Wilderness", "Pharaoh Sails to Orion", "FantasMic" (in this song Tuomas stops playing to headbang and air guitar along with Tarja).

I started listening to Nightwish back when Tarja was a singer, I just loved their sound. Back then, this wasn't something I had heard before, it was very new (though it should be said, I wasn't big on metal but this blew me away). I just loved the music and the combination of metal with Tarjas classical voice. I lost track of them for a while, I loved Tarja in the band and it was hard to think anyone could step in and replace her and give me the same feeling.
Enter Floor. I was sold once more and started listening to more songs with Floor as vocalist and fell in love all over again with this band. I have actually fallen for all 3 singers, they all brought something different and a lot of greatness to this wonderful wonderful band. They are all too different to compare, imho, though I admit I do have a favourite (I think most of us do).
Wishmaster is one of my favourite songs from back in the day, that and wish I had an angel and bless the child. I'm so glad you reacted to this song, Tarja shines a little extra in this one :)

About the "retorical question" that you made on that video, I "meet" Nightwish with Tarja and I LOVE IT (and still love Tarja's solo carrer and everything) but I hate those fans who try to compare them. They have diferent styles, as you said, every one has their qualities and also I think that the band "evolved" adapting of their styles. One of the interesting things of Nightwish. But personaly I love Tarja's Era cause is more "classic"; Floor and Anette are less "symphonic" than Tarja (not a matter of judgind, just a style), and I love the opera "touch" of Tarja, but everyone can like what they want without disrespecting others

Thanks for NOT comparing those two singers Tank! I can see that you have been on music business for a long time. Wise man gives credit to everyone. Especially Tarja deserves that because she is the origin of the band. One must never forget roots. Tarja, Anette and Floor, three different worlds. Each one league of their own and should be acknowledged for that too. Like you did. Greetings from Finland, the land of thousand lakes and even more heavy bands :-) Stay safe man!

The "tank facts" and notes are really cool.
Tarja is amazing. The very first song by Nightwish I've ever heard was Gethsemane, back in 1997, it's a fantastic song that isn't so great with Floor...
The Siren, Walking in the air, Phantom of the Opera and Planet Hell are awesome picks for Tarja.
And you should give Anette Olsen a try too. Go for Scaretale, studio version. Very unexpected.
    Cheers from Brazil.

If anyone's wondering what the song is about, it's about a book series called 'Dragonlance'. The 'Wishmaster' in question is Raistlin Majere, one of the protagonists of Dragonlance Chronicles (the first book trilogy) and later Dragonlance Legends (in which he becomes a kind of 'Anti-Villian' figure). The 'Apprentice' is Dalamar, a dark elf who assists his master in attaining ultimate power.
The lyrics follow the general plot of Legends, with some Lord of the Rings thrown in, but only a few references. For the most part, it's Dragonlance

I was introduced to Nightwish with Tarja, saw them live for the first time with Anette, and have had the pleasure of being front row with Floor. As a singer myself, I feel like no matter where you came in on this journey, you will fall in love. Not so much with the the singing (powerful though it is), but with the very essence of the band. They feed off each other with every song and you can tell they have true connection with each other. There were some bumps in the road, as with almost every music group ( they're human after all), but at the end of the day, the very spirit of Nightwish has never wavered. When Tarja left the band she also left a huge hole in my heart which Annette didn't have the vocals to heal. I had followed them since the release of Wishmaster and suddenly I couldn't listen to a single Nightwish song without a deep and profound sense of sadness. When I discovered that they had replaced Anette with Floor I decided it was time to give them another go and not only was I finally able to listen to everything Tarja had ever done, but I've also been able to slowly dig into the studio albums from Anette. Floor healed my broken metal heart and I'm forever grateful. Now if only the stupid beer-bug would go away and let me go to the concert in Antwerp in November!

I discovered Nightwish shortly before Tarja left the band, so hearing this older stuff is so nostalgic. It's interesting how they've put out well over 100 songs across two decades, spanning genres from thrash metal to jazz to folk, and it ALL sounds like Nightwish. I think a lot of it comes from Tuomas's keyboard playing.

This song has special significance for many Nightwish fans who entered during the dawn of RUclips, as there was a "misheard lyrics" video called "Fishmaster" on here that parodied the difficulty of understanding Tarja's accent. The video was funny and sharable for easy laughs with your middle school buddies, like the Numa Numa Guy or Chocolate Rain... however, once you started going down the rabbit hole of Nightwish music videos like Nemo and Wish I Had An Angel, tons of us got hooked and I'm so glad we did.

I had the same problem like some others here.... i fell in love with Nightwish, when Tarja was the singer. It was so incredible, so outstanding, such an unbelievable combination of classic and metal these days. They made their Opus Maximus with "Once", and directly after that she left the band and my metal heart was broken. So I left Nightwish, too, and didn't follow their newer releases that intensive anymore. Although i noticed Floor as a great new entry to the line up, i was no more into the band. Of course she is a brillant singer and can sing all the classical Nightwish-Songs in a perfect way... BUT in my head and ear I always hear Tarja. It is not a question of better and worse, it is just the thing, with which voice you "grew up" in this outstanding band. For example "Ghost Love Score" IS Tarja, she gave soul, emotion and life to this song more than a decade ago, and I can't fade this out in my mind.

2:39 - Thank you! It wouldn't do justice to bóth of them, both Tarja and Floor (and Annette ofcourse)
I "met" Nightwish back in the days with Tarja and somehow she will always be part of Nightwish for me just because I heard so many songs with Tarja's sound. She had such a huge impact. After a few years I lost track of them so I missed the whole Annette era. Only a little while back I rediscovered them, and of course completely blown away by Floor. I am a huge fan of Floor, and although she NAILS all of the songs (no, I will NOT mention Ghost Love Score.... damn, there I was, trying so hard not to mention GLS, oh well) I still feel like Wishmaster really belongs to Tarja. Her eerie haunting sound is so perfect for this song. Does that mean she rules over Floor? No! Does the fact that Floor gives you goosebumps (No, I will NOT mention the F-word) during GLS mean she is better than Tarja? No. They deserve better than to be compared. This whole "battle" between Floor and Annette and Tarja takes away from the beauty that is Nightwish. It distracts from the wonder it brings us. The band as a whole does such a great job, with whomever is on stage. We have had the privilege to enjoy so many wonderfull singers and musicians all performing for US! Please stop wasting time comparing these wonderfull gifted people and start enjoying Nightwish for what it is.

To answer your question regarding seeing this first with Tarja and than with Floor. I'm a NW fan for 20 years now, i've seen all three of the singers live. And i am one of the rare species of NW fans who likes all three of them. I do not compare them, i just say that NW is more than their current singer, it's the combination of all of this musicians that makes them great.
I saw Tarja live in 2006 or 2007 solo singing an old NW song (Passion and the opera) and it wasn't the same, it didn't sound like NW, their typical sound was missing. It wasn't bad, not at all.
And then while seeing them live with Anette for the first time i got that "Nightwish Vibe" again, even with a new singer.
I'm grateful for Floor, she can sing stuff from all NW albums, which is something Anette couldn't do - she was good as long as she sung her own stuff. Dark Passion Play is still my favorite album - simply good.
Also you should check out one of Anettes newer Projects The Dark Element. I recommend "The pallbearer walks alone" or "Songs the night sings".

And that is because T's voice is much more different than other female vocalists in this genre.
And Tank, regarding the color of the mic, she also wore another outfit in the same color.
