    I watch and learn so much from your videos. I find them factual, and your knowledge of prospecting is incredible. I've soaked up what I can and written everything into a book to take with me when I try my hand at prospecting. You're doing a great job, and I hope there's more videos to come. I bought you a cup of coffee a few days ago but will buy more when I can. Thank you.

    Look around the areas on either side of the shaft there can be multiple fingered on both sides of the main shaft! There can be a lot of them and they can go over mountains or down mountains? Sometimes they are right in a wash! If so and you have water you can find gold! Also new roads? Or roads to other areas!

    A note, when doing the initial survey, take close note of the rock types. I took a walk around Ballarat last week just looking aound. I found plenty of broken quartz but no gold. I did however find a very nice piece of high grade gem opal in the country rock

      You will find that gold prospecting has a lot in common with fishing.
      You've got to know which ground is worth spending time on and what's not!
      You've got to have the appropriate gear. No point fishing for GT's with a herring rig.
      You got to find those hidden away spots that hardly get touched.
      I'm sure you will pick it up fast!
      Happy prospecting!

      @@Part_Time_Prospector Thanks for the quick reply Bruce.
      I’m using a medium weight spinning rod, very sensitive. 6000 size 😉
      I started detecting 6 months ago and really only now starting to figure out what ground is worth detecting, although optimistically, I still swing on bad ground, just in case.

    That’s mate, I been studying everything you have said intently, your one of the best resources I’ve found, besides my pop, but he always said wa was no good cause it’s all owned and hard to find land left with anything in it. He did all his prospecting and mining in VIC, But this was before the times of the internet when I was a young fella.
    Cheers mate, really appreciate what your putting down for the up and comers

      Thanks for the feedback. With all due respect, there is still plenty of land available in WA for gold prospecting. And some of the ground has never seen a lease on it! So if you get a chance, get across to WA, its has some of the most unique gold prospecting ground in th world! It can't be beat! But then I am biased :)

      @@Part_Time_Prospector cheers, yeah I’m here in WA and I’m about to get a detector and get out there. After seen all the gold being found here and shown on RUclips, I’m set on it.
      I’m not sure what to do I seen you video on detectors and I’m half and half on what to do now. I’ve only got a small budget of like 2k max, you were so adamant not to buy one off the bat like I was going to, I’m now not sure what to do. I have seen the gold monster a lot in videos and it looks like a fantastic little machine, is there something better?

    Your videos are great! Very informative. I live in Northern California USA. We had a big part of the California gold rush here. I have found gold successfully with a metal detector for over 10 years. Alot had to do with research. I have a question that maybe you can answer. We have alot of shallow surface workings here good for a metal detector. Alot are very similar to Australia workings. Surface reefs that are shedding gold down a hill. It's a little more hilly here though. We call these reefs pocket gold deposits here. But my question is, is there any indicators that would distinguish deposits that are coarse gold versus ones that only had fine gold ( gold dust)? Alot of the diggings here have the same mineral indicators of gold. Some I've found coarse gold but sometimes there only seems to be gold dust. Maybe there is some indicators that would help distinguish between the two.
    Thank you again for your time and your awesome videos.

    • @Part_Time_Prospector
      @Part_Time_Prospector  Год назад +2

      That's a very good question! I don't personally know of any indicators that differentiate between course and fine gold. It's more a function of how the gold is distribute throughout the reef/lode and that can be a function of many different factors.
      Sorry I can't help you more than that!

    • @waltertodd4479
      @waltertodd4479 2 месяца назад

      Reconscout 5994 You need to Google "finding pocket gold" to find a series of books written by a guy named Tom Bohmker to learn some of those details...Many pocket gold deposits contain large particle size gold and are controlled by alkaline dikes as the source of their mineralization in your area. In other areas coarse gold is also know as "bonanza gold" and you can use those words to narrow your search too.

    I’m loving your videos but how do you find old workings ? I’m using trilobite 🤷‍♀️ do I look for something in particular on trilobite or is it just a matter of going to an area and hopefully there’ll be old workings there?

    • @Part_Time_Prospector
      @Part_Time_Prospector  Год назад +2

      There is a layer called WA gold deposits. You may have to go to "Manage downloads", scroll down to the WA section and then install the "WA Gold Deposits" layer.
      This should show you a lot.
      Otherwise, GeoView is your friend :)
      I Hope tht helps.

      @@Part_Time_Prospector ok thank you. I already have that downloaded but when I zoom in I don’t see any only workings but I’m heading out to some of these areas soon so I’ll go to where it shows them in trilobite and see what I can find. I’ll also take a look at Geoview. Thank you 🙏

    Yes mate I’ve just started I’m a few weeks off 50 years young but life is life and other priorities have held back my dreams. But it’s going to happen. 4 weeks to the WA GOLD fields. Norseman,
    Coolgardie , Kalgoorlie and several other places of keen interest. I’ve been practicing when I can . I only have the Gold Monster with several coils. Couple pointers. Two of us going on the trip. Just planning to head up and east once some good rain rolls through for a decent wash out. I except to probably do very poorly as it’s my actual first prospecting trip. But I have 100% no doubt the Gold is THERE 100% few friends have been very lucky with 8 nuggets 2 off them one was 120 grams and 89 grams. They went for 2 weeks and returned with a total of 287.6 grams of nuggets and pickers. But I’m not sure on the actual true gold content but it’s believed to testing at 18 karat to just over 20 karat Gold. Definitely a dam fun time the lads definitely had. But I ain’t going to find nothing just taking about it. ACTION IS REQUIRED. ALL THE BEST. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍🤑💰💴💵💷
