Isn't funny that national Parks seem to cut into the mining areas. Yet as soon as the big mining companies want to go in their welcomed with opened arms .
A lot are called 'Resource Reserves'.... I thought it was protecting natural flora resources for air quality but they're literally locking up rich areas for leasing out later. Park rangers are the security guards of the deposits...
In QLD, fossicking is also banned in World Heritage Areas.( Wet tropics and GBR). Soon to be included on this list is Cape York Penisular, the application also includes, the Palmer Gold Reserve.
From what I’ve read, generally it is not sold but from time to time, land the government considers not for the benefit of public use is released or sold mainly for housing. In NSW, this is a link that may interest you - www.crownland.nsw.gov.au/resources/purchase-crown-land 😀⛏️⛏️
@asl2964 - I guess it depends what state of the country you plan to prospect. I personally haven’t done one, except a club gathering. Try a Google search for ‘gold prospecting tours in (state- WA, VIC or Qld)’. 😀⛏️⛏️
Sorry mate, I don’t. There is information here though- www.business.qld.gov.au/industries/mining-energy-water/resources/minerals-coal/authorities-permits/applying/authorities/mining-lease
thank you for this video! What are the laws in QLD regarding beaches and non national parks? I'm finding it so hard to find any information for metal detecting. I've already looked at our local council and state websites but it only refers to fossicking for gold not relics coins so on. cheers
Agree, it’s hard to find info. It seems that each Council has its own ‘regulations’. Beaches are generally ok to detect but parks can be different and may require a permit. I’m sorry I can’t help you more. 😀
Is SA so sparse in legal areas to gold detect that you didn't consider it? Most Govt literature just mention Mount Crawford (permit needed) and Jupiter creek both have been thrashed to death. Barossa Valley just about forbidden to detect in where the gold rush was, so looking for other areas other than private property.
See my video on SA. I did find it difficult to locate many public fossicking areas in SA. I know there are some private gold lease areas but no good mentioning them as leaseholders won’t let you on. 😀⛏⛏
Great Upload 👍 Fantastic info for newbies. There is an area that no one knows in the tibb area that is virgin and has big gold and huge potential, possibly twice as much as the now closed Mt Browne area. PS: once the mining company clears outa Browne, it will still hold thousands of ounces of gold. Maybe one day...once this BS is over a done with...we should get together and make a vid ? I have plenty of private property permission in the nsw central western goldfields. Love your work 🍺
That’s not any easy question to answer. The question has been asked on some gold prospecting forums and the consensus seems to be you can pick up an object but digging is not permitted. Some states prohibit digging near infrastructure like bridges over creeks. In QLD, you can basically only fossick in designated fossicking areas and GPA’s (or on private property with owner’s written permission).
Hi PV, pretty much. My understanding is with roadside creeks, you still have to check if the creek is bordering on a property and find out if you can Fossick there. I also did another video, just on QLD that may tell you more - ruclips.net/video/DBGUOjpcAVY/видео.html
I could not find anything in my research that indicated overseas visitors cannot purchase a Miners Right in Victoria. Overseas visitors can also purchase a Western Australia Miner’s Right. You would be expected to have some sort of mailing address in Australia. Of course, COVID-19 has put a stop on overseas travel at present.
I originally got the map from Geoscience Australia but they seem to have changed their website. Try this - d28rz98at9flks.cloudfront.net/74314/74314-1.jpg The map is also here - romseyaustralia.com/rombook1mapgold.html. I just enlarged the state (Qld) and took a screenshot. Hope that helps. 😀⛏⛏
Screw most of the rules. National parks, crown land are owned by the tax payer !! Not the Government !!
Isn't funny that national Parks seem to cut into the mining areas. Yet as soon as the big mining companies want to go in their welcomed with opened arms .
Easy to win the game when you make the rules
All the good NSW gold is in the national parks
A lot are called 'Resource Reserves'.... I thought it was protecting natural flora resources for air quality but they're literally locking up rich areas for leasing out later. Park rangers are the security guards of the deposits...
licence required to pass wind in QLD the Nanny state, thanks for this
I hear you Stuarth. So restrictive in QLD. 😀⛏⛏
All coming to a town near you and country for that matter. Called Agenda 20/30

Nice to learn what you need to do in Qld, as hoping to a bit when up there next. Thanks
AU, there is another few videos on just Qld in my HOW TO playlist that may help too. 😀⛏️⛏️
Ta ill be sure to watch and like them too
I looked up for SA and looks like you don’t need a fossicking license.
Hi blank, if you detect at Mt Crawford, I’m pretty sure you need a forestry permit though. 😀⛏️⛏️
@@annlynch9768 ok 👍
Thank you for putting this together.
Thanks for your work, it has saved me time looking up NSW and Vic for after winter.
Cheers
Glad to help
Any ideas for a gold prospecting tour in Australia!?

Hi tigerraven, as you gold pan & detect in VIC - you are required to hold a Miners Right 😀⛏️⛏️

This is probably a silly question. Are you allowed to fossick on the sides of roads out in the country?
That’s not any easy question to answer. The question has been asked on some gold prospecting forums and the consensus seems to be you can pick up an object but digging is not permitted. Some states prohibit digging near infrastructure like bridges over creeks.
In QLD, you can basically only fossick in designated fossicking areas and GPA’s (or on private property with owner’s written permission).
How can i found out what equipment is allowed in QLD? Cheers. Great source of information you have provided.
David, check this out - www.qld.gov.au/recreation/activities/areas-facilities/fossicking/rules/permitted-activities
Does that mean in QLD you can only fossick in General Fossicking Areas and private land? What about roadside creeks?

This is great information. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks very much.
Thanks Nathan. 😀⛏⛏
What is a good book to buy in relation to finding a gold in Queensland please.
Hi John, cannot recommend any book in particular but you could look at this video ruclips.net/video/eXI8_CXg6ww/видео.html
And the West Coast has plenty of rules - current Miners Right costs $28 and is for life.
Yes, it does mate. ruclips.net/video/zT4VOwxO0mU/видео.html
Excellent information. Thank you
Do you work for a DG training organisation? Your voice sounds like one from a course I participated in.
No mate. Just learnt from some mentors and did a course with JP at Clermont. 😀⛏⛏

Are you still allowed to high bank in Victoria ?
The PMAV has a list of the equipment that can be used in Vic here - pmav.org.au/prospecting/
Cool video, now I know where to go on my next visit to Aussie land from Arizona !
Working on Part 2 now for other states. 👍
So are people from the US able to get a 10 year miners permits for detecting in Victoria?
I could not find anything in my research that indicated overseas visitors cannot purchase a Miners Right in Victoria. Overseas visitors can also purchase a Western Australia Miner’s Right. You would be expected to have some sort of mailing address in Australia.
