If anyone cares, the original version of this song is actually French. Sinatra was in France, heard Claude Francois' classic "Comme d’habitude", liked it, and asked Paul Anka to write English lyrics. The most interesting thing about this performance is the fact that she sang the American remake instead of the French original.
Because they don't have the same meaning at all, the french one is translated as "as usual", and it's a sad song about unreciprocated love. The American one is about doing things your way, which is a thing french people are known for.
Wasn't one reason as well to hand it off to LA? The Sinatra version makes sense for that (esp given the French origin) Singing it French here would make less sense to me (but more sense if the US were the ones handing the Olympics off to France)
I love her voice , when I watched this I looked her up while she was performing, seems like I may have looked her up before, checked out her music , she does a lot of pop in her native French . Not many English language songs though, but I would still listen to her. What I really wish is that she would release this version. Until then I will just keep watching the RUclips clip from the closing ceremonies. ✌🏽👍🏾
My Way or Comme d'Habitude a french song rearranged by Paul Anka, nice version but thank you above all to Claude François, the composer and singer of this song. When I heard for the first time CF thinging this song in 1968 I immediately got goosebumps
My way is originally a french classic song titled Comme d’Habitude , english version written by Paul Anka, made popular by Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Nina Simone, …
The original is à french song named "comme d'habitude" by Claude François. Paul Anka make the english version, and Sinatra sang this version. So a french artist make a cover of the english version of à french song
Thank you! I did, and this woman is a presence I've never experienced in an artist. I am at a loss for words to describe Yesult. I'm just dumbfounded !😮💖💖💖
I agree with you on the audience, when i first heard this on tiktok and then came to watch this amazing performance on youtube, ive noticed that some of the people were like leaving and to me when i saw around the steats it was like, empty, like you said, it felt like they were "removed" especially down by the stage where i would expect hundreds of people there but it was obly like a few bunch in one place by the stage, but this performance was amazing i loved it so much
The public in France and Europe is quiet when the song is calm (like this song). For Europe, it is the way to show respect to the singer by listening to her (when the song is calm). Also, the French public knows by heart the French original version (they don’t know not the US version which was released later by Sinatra).
I've never heard of her before and stumbled upon a news article mentioning her performance. So, here i am. I was impressed. Sometimes you never know what to expect from people doing stage performances be it for the Olympics or an NBA/NFL game for instance. Shout out to Roseanne for her terrible performance LOL
Yseult is a really good french artist ralentis, well known here . If she is the closing of the ceremony it's for a reason, I invited you to hear other of her songs
Even us Franch speakers Don't know how to say "Yseult", Don't worry 😉 Thanks for this good and hearfull analysis ❤ Orininal song by Sinatra, ok but original in English only. They have to do it that way. Doesn't mean their mic Is not live for a lot of the performers, but if something goes wrong, they need that backup plus stadium singing is hard.
I really don't know why you say this as if 1. The artists wouldn't still have to record it using their own voice and 2. That their microphone isn't live. There isn't a singer doing a performance this large that doesn't have a backing track. If you want to give props to the sound engineers for creating seamless performances please do, you do not have to diminish both accomplished singers to do so.

I thought it would have been so cool if she had started in French and then shift to English to kinda handover to USA the Olympics.

@@yepthatsme83The french version was about a couple breaking up, not a good fit for the olympics haha
No one asked but thanks mate I guess
This song is a bridge between Paris2024 and LA2028. French original Song (Music Jacques Revaux) with stunning American Lyrics (Paul Anka)
Absolutely gorgeous…omg 😢

On occasion, I invite you to listen to “corps” by the same artist. She is fabulous.
Her song "Noir" is my favorite.
J'adore cette chanson. Cette jeune femme est vraiment impressionnante et talentueuse.
Indélébile ❤❤❤ I also recommand 😉

Indélébile, BAD BOY, perdue, I love you, corps, are her best songs
Normally in France or Switzerland when someone sings and especially in a soft voice, we listen calmly.
NBC took the video down for whatever reason and the video is now "private," but you can still view it on the Way Back Machine.
Totally extraordinary performance. I'm was stunned beyond belief ❤❤❤
Original French song,🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤, YSEULT, I LOVE U🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
The audience in Europe can be a lot quieter than we’re used to here in the US.
Reacts to Yseult, Sevdaliza & Pabllo Vittar singing Alibi !!! Top 15 on Spotify Global
I love that song so much.
FYI the original song is a French song and well known in Europe !!Sinatra just did a cover for the Americans !!!!

Actually, you have to pronounce the L and T at the end. "Eezeult". The T is pronounced like at the end of the word "short"
