- When I was in Utah recently we hit up a couple of video game stores. Along with Muramasa Matt and Minus World Tracy we visited Gamer Asylum in Ogden, UT, and Numb Skull in Roy, UT. Let's check them out and see what we can find.

Thanks for coming to my shop! That's me in the video with the Destiny shirt. I was off, but came in to prep for the swap meet. Nice timing!
Oh, I promise our labels are awesome & easy to remove even years after applied. 😅
If anyone has any questions for Gamers Asylum, I can answer.
Again, thanks for the video & coming to visit us. ❤
Yep! Super easy to remove. I figured they would be but had to see for myself.
When I was a kid, I used to think the "NOT FOR RESALE" warning was actually punishable by some law. Sort of like ripping the tag off a mattress. 🤦🏼♂
When I was a kid in the 90s my older cousin worked at walmart in Bellingham MA and they would toss all the NFR N64 demo carts in a tote that was supposed to be emptied but never was, so in 2000 when my cousin was quitting to go to college he snatched a few of the NFR carts and I still to this day have my starfox 64 NFR cart from him stealing them
I somehow thought that too
to be fair, the mattress tags are SERIOUS! it says "under the penalty of the law this tag is to not be removed by anyone..."@@Metal-Josh
When I was a kid I thought it was against the law for kids to play rated M games or watch rated R movies, so I stayed away from those games lmao
Same here for both haha 😂
Just going to put this out there for all that Atari stuff. Nolan Bushnell was born in Clearfield, Utah. Graduated from the University of Utah I believe and even worked at Lagoon a local amusement park. Founded a little company called Atari.
I am an avid game collector here in Utah. YES, we love love love our gaming community
Washington State gamer here. We are also very big on gaming (of course, John Riggs is also from Washington State, so you probably already knew that). One of my friends also has a huge library of very rare and hard-to-find videogames.
Love The State! Awesome find!
You lucky son of a gun! Both stores look like a gamer's paradise! I would have been psyched beyond belief if I had been in your shoes. Looks like you had a great day!
Love that you found yourself in our state! So many great retro stores that nobody talks about!
On the hyperkin cable the Pro version works with the Super NES, and N64 whereas their standard version only works with the model one Super NES. The difference is the way that it taps into the video output signal since the N64 isn't wired for RGB out of the box.
Oh man again, you are basically in my backyard in Roy! Awesome to see local spots on RUclips!
Good to see you there John! Thanks for being so cool. Idk how you made this video so fast 😂
Man it's great that you have these retro stores within reach. I just discovered a couple of weeks ago that 2 of the Game Craze stores survived. On Saturday I went to one and spent nearly $1,000 there. And then went on Monday and spent another $500 mostly PS3 games! I'm so happy that I discovered these Game Craze stores. One is in the city but the other one is in another town and supposedly more stacked. Anyway thanks for showing your adventures in these stores. Cool video John!👉😃👈
Oh my God I completely forgot about The State that show was great! 😂
iii'm ouuttaa heeeeeereee
Every time I see Baseball Stars I smile. What a great game.
Love seeing all these places that I visit being highlighted.
As a long time tcg player that upper floor game area would be ver healthy for me to have to climb lol!
Nothing sets me off like putting big ass stickers on an old NES label.
Awesome, you hit up all my favorite places. Too bad I missed you, would’ve been great to say hi.
As a noob to Utah I only know the retro game stores in slc. I had no idea about all the cons and stores outside the city. SO GLAD you filmed your Utah trip.
Gamer Asylum looks jaw dropping! Definitely going this weekend.
On your way up stop at Minus World and Numbskull, they're literally on the way, and all 3 stores are worth your time. There's also a Graywhale in Ogden that occasionally has a good find. If Roosters is still open (they made an announcement about closing) I'd just skip them, as their prices are outrageous.
@@Infamouslbx thanks for the recommendations! ✌🤙
@@GrimMetropolis sure thing, if you see a scraggly dude in plaid there, it's likely me, lolol
Cool shops. I stopped collecting maybe 3 years ago but even at that time most Atari 2600 games were $1 each at game stores. The second shop seemed to have more reasonable prices.
Love those $1 games!
John Riggs back traveling the states for games
Looks awesome! I can't believe somebody scratched out the NFR. That is the most insane thing I have ever seen.
Reason why Atari games are so common in Utah is because back in the day Atari games were actually pretty popular for a while. Also, at 9:15 you can see you game I was looking out when I was at Numbskull The other day and you can see the Inspector Gadget game I was looking at
This was super fun! Thanks for taking us along :)
Nice city, loved my visit!!!!
Great place. When my daughter was little she liked MXC and the jokes were over her head so I got all of them. It's pretty hilarious what they did with Takashi Castle. Did not know they were getting so expensive.
She took his hand, and she led him along that golden beach
They watched the waves tumble over the sand
They drove for miles and miles up those twisting turning roads
Higher and higher and higher they climbed
And those Hollywood crimes
In those Hollywood hills
She was looking so right
In her diamonds and frills
Hollywood Nights - Bob Seger
Heads up for anybody driving I90 on September 21, it's closing at 6pm for blasting from about Northbend to Easton.
Minis and video games; lol thats how I spend most of my leisure time!
The State cast are currently doing Live shows. Something to look into!
Good for the environment to resale old stuff! 😊
So cool to see Utah being represented, I live in Orem and we don’t have as good of game stores as up north but it’s worth the drive to go north
Only one I know about in town is next to Animal Arc. Mostly 21st Century stuff but it's a place I can use their polishing machine to repair discs. Bought Ty 2 on Gamecube there too.
Jeez Louise! $109 for Alfred Chicken on NES!? Wow!
Never been to Gamer Asylum. Little too much of a drive from Orem. Which is funny, because I have been to Numb Skull. It's just right across the freeway from Hill Aerospace Museum--- which meant I was already in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop by to check it out.
Now I'm wondering if you ventured into Salt Lake Valley in search of stores. There's a couple good ones and one that I wouldn't recommend that's east in Sugarloaf, or whatever that neighborhood's called. It has a good size selection, only it's all behind the counter. It's the only section of the State that I have visited where stores keep a great deal of merchandise behind glass. Reminded me a lot of Federal Way. Strange that particular city sprang to mind considering I didn't live there.
Its so sad but when they were talking about that not for resale cartridge they arent kidding. People are so dumb sometimes. I used to work in a used game store and our customers were some of the dumbest ever i actually dealt with some that thought the not for resal meant they couldnt sell to us.
Cool pickups cant wait to see your panel in two weeks
I've loved this channel for like 4 years now. I discovered you through a different RUclips gaming channel but this one has stayed true to its roots. Never change Riggs! btw what was the MTV dvd you bought? lol
The State was a sketch comedy show that played on Mtv. I loved it.
I’m totally broke at the moment, this videos get me through until I can go looking for myself.
Store looks awesome. I lived in Roy Utah back in the 90's. It's right by Ogden. I'd love to go back one day.
Edit: you went to Roy too! So cool lol. Glad you had a fun trip.
in 2003 i got a ps1 disc only raiden project for 5.00. it was 20 years ago, but now disc only goes for 20.00-50.00
Prices on video games is the main reason ill go to that exact store
I frequent Gamers Asylum, but usually for TCG packs.
I thought I was the only person in the universe who liked The State.
Ouch, $95 for banjo tooie. I started collecting my collection in the mid/late 2000s and I got it for $3 at the flea market… My my times have changed. I really wish I would have bought everything., but at least I have my own copy of everything I want! I’ve sold/given away most my duplicates in the last few years
Interesting information
Predator! I had that game as a kid and it wasn't great, but I accidentally found a cheat to it. You can instantly skip to the next level if you press left and right at the same time! How can you possibly do that? With the incredibly lame Power Glove. Or the NES Max controller-you can press hard enough on both directions and it will work.
Nice eyeglasses where did you get them from?
Zoom meetings for board games? Im there with you, always enjoyed when i could get enough people, except monopoly bc the banker always cheats which makes it just a little too real now 😁
Is the camera just fighting the other shade of blue on the package? Weird
Interesting.
Maybe I'm alone in this, but if this state *was* an untapped market, wouldn't it be better not to let people in on that so the locals can still enjoy not getting fleeced?
I love coliseum road to freedom, extremely hard atleast for me lol
Lighter fluid to remove stickers
Utah won't be an untapped resouce after this video
Pisses me off seeing someone scratch out that art lmao
if theres two things mormons have a lot of, its wives and retro games.
Love The State!
What's really the difference between a game with not for resale and without that label? It is just a label carved in the game that anyone can do and say they have a $100 banjo tooie but I definitely wouldn't pay $95 for it. $70 sounds more reasonable
I believe they were for the kiosks. Some of them aren’t the full game, just a demo.
HELLO, good video! 🌟💗
John comments how he loves everything is evenly priced, no $X.99 crap.
A few seconds later...
Shows game priced at $349.99
I know it's only because it's pre-made from Game Crazy so why not use it but still.
Not anymore not if you are broadcasting that it's got tons of retro games available. You are gonna cause the prices to skyrocket
Oh any psp go?
Stop telling everyone about our great market and prices. Your gonna ruin it.
Chill bruh, only locals will buy there because once you add shipping etc, it's not cheap anymore
We all like to learn about other locations that sell games. None of us are about to get up and travel to Utah to save $8.
What a great comment! Stop supporting local businesses! Don't let anyone know about people living the American Dream that own these stores! Let's continue to funnel people to ebay and gamestop!
Don't ask questions, just consume product and get excited for next product!
@@walcodebruyn2135you started your statement with “bruh” which renders your statement invalid.
@@ClownNaround ok literal clown sorry i hurt your feelings with my comment.
Como eu gosto de games antigos eu gosto muito do seu canal alo do brasil
Retro items are new and are throwbacks or reissues of old styles or products. Older games, like N64 or Sega Genesis, are vintage and not retro
Should have picked up Honey. 😳🥵😅👍
Not anymore!
95$ за banjo tooie... Да они совсем охуели!!!! Хотя игра отличная.
those stores never have good deals unless they are going out of business. they look up values on everything. most pawn shops are worse. same with game swaps. best deals are yard sales, estate sales, and swap meets that have nothing to do with videogames, just junk electronic boxes where the people have no idea, dont care, getting rid of "junk". oh, and i HATE it when stores put stickers on art labels or carts or cases. bag them, and put the price on the bag. i used to get good deals at goodwill, but since they have hired a "professional" that looks the values up. sometimes you can still bid on games on eBay goodwill and its decent, usually they are in bad condition though and you have to ask for a refund.
Colliseum for PS2 is NOT a fun game.
The State is Classic!!! Ohhhh yeaaahhhh
Those gigantic stickers on the nes games over the labels when they could put the price on a sticky note instead. Yeah im out
I know those guys. They use the same labels we do. They're super expensive and you can stick them on just about anything, and even after years they come off easily with no residue. 👌
Not many stores spend the extra money to ensure the labels come off clean. 🙂
I live a few blocks from here.
