So glad that you mentioned Skyblazer. It's one of my very favorite games of all time and not enough people talk about it. I just played through it for the first time in many years last week and I had a great time. Also, yes, Ukiyotei made Hook first and then Skyblazer came after it, basically using the same engine as Hook.

Great recommendations. I think Chameleon Twist is overlooked because of its camera issues and because it's short, but I quite like it. Plus, you can try and collect all the crowns to extend the longevity a little bit.

Wanna feel old? You mention Jumping Flash is over 20 years old, which it totally is, but when we think of the 90s, it's usually just "over 20 years" ago. This game came out in 1995, making it almost 30 years old!

Great choices here, especially Skyblazer, Exile, Jumping Flash, and Mappy Land. Jumping Flash looks like it shouldn't work, because Platformers in first-person are sketchy enough, but having to control one with a d-pad of all things just sounds awful, but I had a great deal of fun playing it on my PSP; give it a chance! Mappy Land is really cool, too; I love all the little secret areas you can find in the different stages.
