I LOVE this!!! Thank you so much for sharing - I think it is so important to try and foster this kind of mindset and generate excitement around investments and securing our futures in the same way we get excited about shopping. So, there is a channel I have followed for many years called SugarMummaTV and she has this thing called the $1000 project. That is what I am doing in the background - my perfume budget is working for me in 2022! I haven't really been tracking it yet but maybe I can do a video on that too in the future!
Hey Peeps, I recognise that this might be a bit of triggering video for some. Someone asked me to do a video showing what I bought in January that could have been so bad that it triggered a no-buy for the remainder of 2022... well this is it. To clarify, my No Buy started on Feb 1, these are purchases I made over Christmas and in January. I'm posting it to show why I felt it was necessary to make a sudden and drastic change.
I think it's a matter of perspective and changing a mindset. Recognizing and acknowledging that a habit or behavior is no longer serving you or causing you to question your actions is not being 'hard on yourself'. It's an act of self love, that by saying 'yes' to each perfume is saying 'no' to something else, like renovations. Spending time on the hunt for a deal or the latest release, is saying no to time connecting with yourself in stillness or with loved ones. Mindset. Love H L Poston, plus I would add James Clear of Atomic Habits where he discusses creating tiny adjustments as barriers to shift behavior (like unsubscribing from mailing lists and deleting payment info from frequented sites). I went as far as changing my credit card number b/c I knew the old one by heart. 😏
Aw babe - I recognize that tone & sheepish look: i see/hear it on myself in the mirror all the time! Like you I love a good bargain or special edition. Your comment about the Amouage made me chuckle because I just shelled out for a Lilac Love set and told myself "pricey but it comes with a lotion!" 😇 I think when you have a passion and are eternally curious, it's easy to go a bit overboard with the thrill of procuring new delights. I give myself periodic time outs from purchasing and one thing that's helped is to "shop" my own closet or cupboard to be reminded of clothes, shoes, purses & frags I may have been neglecting. Be kind to yourself - being in tune with your inner state and knowing it's time to take a break is half the battle. Good on you! 💛
I reached a similar realisation once. Now it’s a bottle a month and sometimes it’s agonising waiting to buy a perfume. I’m down to 12 bottles ( from more than 100) and I actually wish I’d held on to more of that collection. However, I do consume my perfume quite fast. Good luck and bear with it and enjoy Hannah Louise Poston because she helped me!!
Thank you Liz! I am devouring Hannah's channel at the moment! 12 bottles seems like an impossible target for me right now, but I will deal with decluttering later. 2022 is about learning what I REALLY love in my collection and not buying anything new. Thanks for being here! xx
I've also "lost" all my savings by buying fragrances. That's a real finance hole here. I'm not in debt neither but that's some money... I took a lot of pleasure in all those discoveries. Now I only buy with the money I get back after selling and decanting. At some point I feel lost with too much fragrances because I can't take the time to know them and being emotionnaly attached to them and that's what I need. I often buy some samplers and that's good. Because I'm ultra picky and I only want to buy what I obsolutely love. My last loves were Neroli outrenoir from Guerlain and awake from Akro.
I can totally get the boredom scrolling, looking for perfume to buy 😂 my weakness is eBay. Enjoyed watching you last haul of 2022. I hope you succeed. I did 3 months last year with Paola but it went a bit crazy after that... 🥰
Hey Claire! Well done getting through 3 months! That’s awesome. Yeah that’s why I’m aiming for longer- I’m hoping it will help to avoid rebound lol. We’ll see. 🙏
☀️another video that hit close to home ☺️I’m embarrassed with my collection however I recognise my “previous” addiction habit😇 please continue to film 🎥 your journey it gives me hope🥰. Maybe you could do something like what I wore this week series🥳
Fleur de Peau wasn't an instant love for me either. Then I wore it to an outdoor outing on a really cold day during late fall. The trail in the whipping wind turned it to a love. It really stood up to the weather and the dry down was beautiful. Perhaps, hold onto it and try again in cold weather? I have the same issue with Opus III. OTOH, Lalibela is a love for me. I get airy confectioners (powdered) sugar with a hints of coconut and tobacco. It's sweet and earthy without being too heavy. These are all cold weather scents for me. I have a hard time with perfumes that have a heavy base. A friend has the HDP in the Blue bottle but I'm not sure which version she has. It smells lovely on her. Thanks for the haul video.

There's something so satisfying about those honking huge bottles!!! Ha. I bought more than usual in January too. Probably because I had been holding back so much last year. But it gave me time to really really think about what I wanted. You look gorgeous in that cherry red color. 🍒
Even though I don’t have the same taste in fragrance like you (I would buy only 2 from your haul), I enjoyed it. Sometimes if I buy a big bottle I sell decants from it so I get some money back. I’m on my way to concise my collection. I’m selling bottles I don’t like anymore or don’t wear too much. My rule is like sell 5-6, buy 1-2. At the end of the year I would like to achieve my goal, to have just perfumes I love and not to have the same scent profile (or occasion to wear) in more bottles. Re other products (skincare, haircare etc. I’m on a no buy for months already, it’s easy to stick to it for me, I’m just using what I have and not buying more until I really need something). Don’t be too strict to yourself 🥰 Good luck!
Good going facing the issue head on. Ive been on a low buy for years now and have built quite a thick skin against the hype train. I mean, fomo is still a thing but the sun still rises in the morning etc. Good luck with your no buy, I think you’ll do great!
Love you Cherie. Greetings from Minnesota. You help address and bring to the forefront compulsion and addiction. At various times cigarettes and alcohol have been compulsions but now they are no longer part of my life (except for the very occasional cocktail:) So fragrance buying is now my crazy habit, and yes I would like to get it under control... (Is Matt building an erector set in the other room?:)
Thank you! Its so strange how we work so hard to get control of one compulsion only to succumb to another! I am definitely experiencing that! Haha Matt was cooking dinner and I think he unpacked the dishwasher. Bless him x
I had been thinking about the Lalibela tester and then saw that it wasn't available anymore. Ha. Your reasons for doing a no buy never need a justification, the pandemic has made me realise that i have an addition to shopping, taking baby steps and your videos are helping.
This was very funny and endearing, I can totally relate to your current feelings and you should enjoy what you have now but not bash yourself up if you happen to slip. Don’t apologise for blaming others for your indulgences too, because trust me many of us watching will be blaming you just the same for our own haha.. in fact, I owe you for one such indulgence that has since become a favourite of mine. It looks like you have quite the collection now so I look forward to you going more in depth with it and sharing your thoughts
I love all your videos, Cherie. on no buy to, since December. friends send me tones of samples, this doesn't help 😂 but I hold tight, wish you a success to in that matter, as this really help us concentrated on the stuff we already have, and fall in love again 😊
Wow Cherie, but good luck for the rest of the year. Not easy I can imagine, I managed three months last year but then went stupid again. But saying that I was sensible and actually much better after that. Absolutely love New Look 😍
Hi. I have also ordered so many perfumes lately on E-Bay and have received a couple and waiting for more. I have enjoyed the fragrances and they are reasonable. It is also exciting to find them in my mailbox, opening the packages and smelling and wearing them. I have success in receiving amazing scents that lift my spirits. Take Care.😊
Greetings from Canada👋🏾 I stumbled on your channel as I was reorganizing my fragrances and deciding which I was going to get rid of. What you went through in January is what I did in Nov/December. I bought so much perfume that I hid my purchases in my closet and didn’t bother to unbox. I’ve been in a no buy since Jan 6. I have a love affair with fragrances and bags/purses. I haven’t bought a bag in 10 months now. I have a very large collection… I want to enjoy my fragrances. Thé only way to do it is for me to stop buying lol (I’m gonna need a straight jacket soon😂) thanks for sharing. You can do this!
Hi! Thanks for stopping by and sharing! Lol I was a bit the same, I tried to ignore them. If it wasn’t for the fact that someone had asked me to reveal why I thought January was so bad, I may well have shoved them in a drawer and tried to forget them!
This is my first video of yours I've seen and firstly I love the blouse and lipstick- talk about style goals!! 😎 really enjoyed hearing about your picks in the haul. I have months when I splurge too and for me it is also related to stress, needing an escape, daydreaming etc.... so thank you for sharing and love the energy of the video xx
Hello from Pennsylvania. Fleur de Peau is GORGEOUS. I’ve been loving my samples of it. It’s also massively long lasting, not that that’s overly important. A bottle will be acquired here soon as well. Great video!
I love your perfume haul, Cherie! Don't be too hard on yourself. I believe that we should be happy in this life. Perfume makes me happy and I have accepted this!❤
Nice additions to your collection! I enjoyed Hannah's No Buy Year videos, reflection does add value to the whole process, doesn't it. Do you see yourself talking about it throughout the year, maybe in some check-ins 🙂
These are great purchases, Cherie! Just enjoy them and don't feel guilty! Iris Malikhan was my best buy of 2021 and it is certainly one of my favourite from my collection.
What an amazing haul to begin your no-buy! You'll be enjoying the fruits of your last hurrah! 😅 I had a similar journey with the Delinas - I gave them so much poo-poo and now am eating my words... Actually wearing Delina Exclusive today 🙃 Tricky how she gets under your skin! Sigh. 🤷♀️ Looking forward to following your journey through the year; hopefully your strength will rub off on me! ❤️
In the gap of a week between Christmas and new year I walked home with 3 designer exclusives. I learnt that if I didn't pause to think about my spending habits it would escalate to the point where it wouldn't be financially appropriate to justify my behaviour, and I would run out of room to store these bottles. I'm on a low buy now, with an allowance of two fragrances per season (if that). In the meantime, I'll try to lean what notes I like through smelling essential oils rather than samples and bottles.
I only just found you and I can just tell watching your videos will be bad for my bank account. Oh well. We are in this together. I totally get what you mean. I am in theory on a low buy but bought so many fragrances in January and need to STOP. Which fragrance groups do you use on Facebook? Most that I have found are US based and won‘t ship to the UK. See, unbelievable, I will not learn. But shopping for fragrances is so much fun.
Thanks! Well hopefully this year I won’t be too much of a bad influence as there will be a lot of focus on deep diving into what I already own and not buying more. As for fragrance groups - I just found ones that were local to me here in Australia. You can’t post bottles of perfume internationally without a special license, as perfumes are considered dangerous goods. So, I recommend just doing a search on Facebook for fragrance groups, limiting the search to the UK and you should find some :)
We always need to be kind to ourselves and the course of true no buy never did run smooth 😉 as Shakespeare once said. Guess what happened when I was on the train to work this week … despite my best intentions I just ordered two fragrances created by Jean-Claude Ellena (just my favourite perfumer) based on their names: “Iris & Vetiver” and “Jasmine & Musc”. Well, it didn’t help that the brand had a buy one get one free and that I am just exhausted because of the current workload. And yes, it was just about 50€, so in the grand scheme of things very inexpensive, but … oh well. Let’s see what they smell like 😂. Why did I have to look up what Ellena had been working on recently just because I wore an old-time favourite (Bois d'Iris by The Different Company), listened to a podcast about Iris centred fragrance, read the words Iris and Ellena and buy-one-get-one-free at 7am and … But now it’s back to the no buy, I promise ☺️.
No bashing from here. Love the Opus III. Quite similar to Ombre Mercure, which I believe is discontinued. the Tuberose fragrances from HdP are quite under appreciated I think.
It was interesting to hear about the organization focused on the mental health of fashion industry workers. It must be very difficult to thrive in that environment.
Thanks Beth, Yes and from what I have learned, there is a lot less focus on it as compared to other industries where certain behaviours in the workplace are simply no longer tolerated. I'm looking forward to speaking with Jude and learning more!
I have tried a discovery set from Parfums de Marly and found that Delina Exclusive to be the best, Delina did not even compete, so girly and unspecial... Really enjoying my exclusive sample, probably won't buy it though... good resolutions, wink wink
@@TheTopNote I bet you should! It's simply the best chypré scent for sure! A true masterpiece👌 ciao Bella😉 & let me know about! Give it a try! You may like it😘
The whole world shut down and governments forbid so many pleasant enjoyable things due to the pandemic...buying scents I enjoy was my escape to squeeze out some excitement out of this paralized world. Don't feel bad about yourself for buying things that you are going to enjoy for years after the purchase. :)
Hi! Libertine Parfumerie stocks them, as does the online retailer City Perfume. FeelingSexy also gets them from time to time, but they are not an authorised reseller, I dont think. From Australia you can also buy from Selfridges. They have an annual shipping package that you pay for once and then you dont have to pay shipping on anything for the entire year. Otherwise, second hand bottles also pop up in the facebook fragrance groups from time to time.
There is no shame in re-creating oneself. Everyone is addicted to something. Just a small % can admit it though. Maybe your beautiful soul came here to experience how it is to feel what you feel :)
I’m late to the comments….. but…… I wanted to share that another reason to be easy on your self is: you have a RUclips channel and it’s hard to not buy for sampling and sharing and educational purposes for your viewers. It’s not like you’re buying excessively in all faces of your life.
I love your videos but there is something I don't understand. Why do you push yourself to record and apologize instead of filming when you're good and well rested?
Thanks! 🤗 Good question, and it actually has a few answers- because being tired doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy doing the activity, because the process of doing the activity I enjoy generally re-energises me, because it gets me “out of my head” and focussing on something other than work etc, because at the moment I’m always tired as my schedule is vastly different to what It was just a few weeks ago and I’m still settling into it and trying to find what works 😉 But I take your point and I think I’ll stop issuing apologies and disclaimers and just own it, haha. Thank you 🙏 💗
Lol thanks if I did that it would have been hours long. Some of these I have already reviewed from samples in other videos, some of them I will be reviewing over the coming months. Stay tuned!
I went overboard too! I decided to buy investments vs perfumes. I don’t need hundreds of bottles! Im loving the smell of $! Lol!

Neroli Outrenoir is a beauty! I agree re: not really knowing my fragrances well enough, I’m hoping that changes this year. Thanks for being here 🤗
You and your aldehyde florals lol 😆
Stay well. Much love love from the UK. 💞💞
Lou Lou is an oldish perfume and it's one I return to now and then it's so long lasting

I failed miserably on January too. Sales definitely do get to me. But change is coming. At least you have some great new fragrances :)
There is that. Thanks Catarina! x
The blue bottle fragrances are lovely. i think I quite enjoyed #3...or was it #5..? not sure ...but they are super easy to wear :)
I could play my whole day with these magnetic caps 😆
I have a few FM on my wishlist. I hope I'll be able to get them one day in this travel size format.
I also really enjoy aldehydic florals. My favourite ones being from Guerlain (Jardins de Bagatelle and the previous formulation of Chant d'arômes). Even in the cold, there's something in aldehydes that really cut through the cold and is still clean and uplifting when it's getting warmer in Spring. I've worn 1932 lately, I also love Musc intense by Nicolaï which are great in the cold too.
Musc Intense is, I think what started my craze with aldehydic florals :)
Your lipstick gives me life ! ❤❤❤ Loulou is amazing, wait and see...
Thanks Illiona! Yes I love that lipstick! I'll keep you updated on LouLou :) x

So refreshing to see an Aussie making relatable frag content! Going to go and binge watch all of your videos now 🥰❤️
Haha thanks! I’m not sure this one was that “relatable” more like excessive - but happy to have you here thanks for watching :)
Iris Malikhan ! 😍 i really want to try that … but i think i might sample first ☺️
i just bought Loulou, and I really like it ! 💙

LOL Dell, I think you should stop by one day and help me enjoy them!
Thank you Andreas, I am definitely expecting to hit bumps on my no-buy road but so far Feb is going ok xx
No bashing from here. Love the Opus III. Quite similar to Ombre Mercure, which I believe is discontinued. the Tuberose fragrances from HdP are quite under appreciated I think.
The is Marianne! I agree re: HdP fragrances. 🙂
Yeah!! First comment. Loving your content ❤
thanks for being here!
Did you snooze or remove yourself from fragrance groups? To help not wanting something new/hyped?
Missed you
🙏
I have tried a discovery set from Parfums de Marly and found that Delina Exclusive to be the best, Delina did not even compete, so girly and unspecial... Really enjoying my exclusive sample, probably won't buy it though... good resolutions, wink wink
Stay strong ;)
Cherie have you tried miss Dior original version ( 1947) ? If so I like to know your thoughts about! Cheerio dear🥂
no, but I have been thinking about just going in and trying it at the counter. I may have to do a quick review off of a card, but I am keen to try it!
@@TheTopNote I bet you should! It's simply the best chypré scent for sure! A true masterpiece👌 ciao Bella😉 & let me know about! Give it a try! You may like it😘
I agree. The Delinas are women magnets, but not men.
❤️
The whole world shut down and governments forbid so many pleasant enjoyable things due to the pandemic...buying scents I enjoy was my escape to squeeze out some excitement out of this paralized world. Don't feel bad about yourself for buying things that you are going to enjoy for years after the purchase. :)
Thank you, that’s a nice way to look at it x
Im from australia, I struggle to find places that sell Parfums de Marly, I would love to know where you get them from :)
@@TheTopNote Thankyou so much very helpful
David Jones has it.
Do you know the name of the perfume, with a perfume on each end?
Sorry I’m not sure about that one?
It's okay, I got it, thank's
There is no shame in re-creating oneself. Everyone is addicted to something. Just a small % can admit it though. Maybe your beautiful soul came here to experience how it is to feel what you feel :)
I like that sentiment. 💕
I’m late to the comments….. but…… I wanted to share that another reason to be easy on your self is: you have a RUclips channel and it’s hard to not buy for sampling and sharing and educational purposes for your viewers. It’s not like you’re buying excessively in all faces of your life.
How do you like LouLou?
I havent worn it yet :)
I love your videos but there is something I don't understand. Why do you push yourself to record and apologize instead of filming when you're good and well rested?
Thanks! 🤗 Good question, and it actually has a few answers- because being tired doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy doing the activity, because the process of doing the activity I enjoy generally re-energises me, because it gets me “out of my head” and focussing on something other than work etc, because at the moment I’m always tired as my schedule is vastly different to what It was just a few weeks ago and I’m still settling into it and trying to find what works 😉
But I take your point and I think I’ll stop issuing apologies and disclaimers and just own it, haha.
Thank you 🙏 💗
@@TheTopNote 🙏♥
Stumbled on this by accident. WISH you would TALK ABOUT the actual fragrances!
Lol thanks if I did that it would have been hours long. Some of these I have already reviewed from samples in other videos, some of them I will be reviewing over the coming months. Stay tuned!
