- Here's another unboxing of one of my favorite mangas ever: Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind! This is a collector's edition set that includes all seven volumes of Nausicaa in two HUGE hardback volumes. Gotta say this is one of the coolest things I own and I'd recommend it if you can get it for less than retail.

i agree the manga is SO MUCH better then the movie and i thought the movie was amazing but the manga just blew me away the anime only covers like an eighth of the story and there's just so many more characters and character development other nations amazing artwork with a lot of detail and care and i feel like the book will be worth a lot more in the future or maybe thats just me, but the book was SO WORTH IT.

That's a GREAT price for this. I paid retail plus tax and I think it was a little over $60. Wish I had that price when I got it. God I love amazon!

I finally ordered this. Loooong time Miyazaki fan. But never got around to start reading this. So hyped! It looks beautiful.
I own all 7 individual softcover volumes of the Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga and the hardcover Watercolour Impressions books. Buying the softcover pieces are more expensive than the box set, and more frail (three of my volumes were heavily damaged during a move... good thing I had insurance), but technically they contain more bonus fold-out posters than the box set :P
Also, Miyazaki absolutely hated the front art piece of the hardcover box set and basically any art that shows Nausicaä looking happy or peaceful ><
No matter what edition you buy, I will absolutely GUARANTEE that the Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga is the best value-for-money thing you will ever own, and ranks up there amongst my favorite belongings right next to my signed-by-the-voice-actress Fate/Zero Saber poster, Collector's Edition Kara no Kyoukai box set, and Ghost in the Shell Limited Edition Steelbook.
+Haitaka123 why did Miyazaki hate Nausicaä looking happy? Didn't she smile a lot in the movie? Haven't read the manga yet.

Read this after watching the movie and omg it is a must. It completely changes my mind on the characters (specifically nausicaa) and also adds so much to the story.
I bought mine at otakon 2016. It's legitimately gigantic and very heavy. Its also one of the most favorite things I own
I watched the movie a few years ago and I liked it. But I had no idea that the story was bigger than that. So I might have to pick this up now.

Just purchased for 65 on Amazon! Watched the movie and looked online for where I could purchase a blu-ray or something and then stumbled upon the box set. One look at that thing and I knew I had to buy it!

nausiccaa is my favorite anime since I was a kid. So beautiful and deep.
I watched the movie, and I loved it, but I have to get this thing! Those color pages and hardcovers, and as cherry on the cake, there's a poster too! I WANT IT
The royalty-free, background techno music, thats running through this entire 8 min video, is killing me. Its prominence makes it hard to focus on your assessment of the book.

I wish more manga was released in hardcover. It’s pretty much limited to this, the Akira boxset, Junji Ito’s work and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (to my knowledge)
Vinland saga is a great series with hard cover books (2 volumes in 1).
Should check out the Berserk, Hellsing and Blade of Immortal deluxe editions for good hardcover manga
@@Benjamas- Would you personally recommend Hellsing or BoI as decent manga? What would you rate them out of 10?

I read Nausicaa first time around 2010 or 11 and loved it.
I was looking into buying the books and came across this, I am kind of happy that I found this since I remember the paperback of the original release was kind of weak and prone to ripping .
I just love Nausicaa and naturally hate miyazaki for the movie :p

Both films are incredible adaptions and you're just wrong. It would be impossible for a feature film to accurately fit in an entire life work better than both Akira and Nausicaa already do

I recall reading that Miyazaki drew the panels in sepia tones with pencil, but here I see panels are in black and white (ink), am I right?

Are these the same size as the paperbacks so that the art is not enlarged? Also is this sewn binding and lays flat with the spine curving?
Does the artwork look faded at all in your copies? I just received mine and doesnt look like the inking is quite as dark.... Not sure if ive got a bad copy or if i just looks different on camera...
I would say that the artwork is a little lighter because most of the color artwork is watercolor. I didn't notice any fading on mine at least.
Looks very nice! Isn't it irritating that it reads from the right?
It's really not that bad once you get used to it. Sometimes non-standard panels will get you twisted around but it's easy to find your order again.

He worked 13 years but over the course of volume releases. So he didnt have 13 years to work on the whole thing before releasing it.
