- This is a video issued by Mercedes-Benz in 1997 following the famous 'Elk Test' performed on the then new A-Class. This video highlights that after the disastrous test, the car would come fitted with ESP as standard and resolve the stability issues. Mercedes-Benz invited a representative of the TUV to test the modified car and demonstrate the issues were resolved!

it failed, because it was supposed to be an electric vehicle. a 30kwh battery should have dragged the center of gravity down, so it would be extremely stable

ESP did the difference pretty well
Original test video viewable in top gear episode, the one where it fails.
That the test of the version without esp, this car isn't available since mercedes only sold it WITH esp. So this here is the test of the consumer car.
Finally this Mercedes-Benz's first front wheel drive car has it's stability problem solved!

It's available in English and German, and since the consumer version of the a class came with esp as standard (so the test where it tips is obsolete) I don't know what more you want...

BAD TEST. YOu need to put weight on the seats which is adekvate to a human being and not 68 KG of water. YOu need to go with the SWEDISH MOUSE TEST, this dont reflect real enviroment with people in the seat. This from GERMANY? ALLES SHEISSE..........

Selaudin Agolli no,E class,just saw the 2016 one couldnt do it at 87kmh...the 2016 c class passed with only 64kmh!
Henri Cela 2016 E class did it in 78kmph and "1998" A class did it in 75ish kmph...that's a big win for the A class

Despite the corrections and the standardisation of ESP, it wasn't enough to quell the bad press. In fact, this entire incident led to Mercedes-Benz cancelling a project they had with Sony to advertise the car, that project would later become Vib-Ribbon.
