  • We Bought the Koni Shocks Here!
    Front Shocks - amzn.to/2RRufse
    Rear Shocks - amzn.to/2QRwg7W
    In my opinion this is the best suspension setup that you could get for your car. I've owned a variety of different setups in the past but this has been the one that I prefer over all of the others I have tried. I believe it's perfect for a daily driver with a softer spring rate, but the shocks also perform very well with a stiffer spring if you decide to track your car. I'm currently using these same shocks but with 550lb rate springs on my track car and have been since March 2015 with no issues. If you can afford them, I guarantee you will no be disappointed! Enjoy the video!

    I've been rocking the Koni Yellow/Ground Control setup on my DA for at least 10 years. Such a great setup. Probably the best "bang for your buck" suspension setups you can get.

    Like yourself, I’ve used MANY different suspension set-ups on my CRX’s. I am currently using my favorite of them all:
    Koni Yellow’s (Race Version) w/Ground Control coils 600 lbs front / 800 lbs rear. Been on my car since 2013, seen track days & auto cross with absolutely No issues! Another brand suspension I would love ❤️ to try someday are Fortune Auto’s!!😎

    Swapping out my stock EM1 suspension for Koni Yellow + GC with 440F/380R rates for autocross/daily driver. Just got the final parts today. Any thoughts on the purpose of the metal sleeve that sits inside the bushings in the top hat? I bought china extended top hats and they came with hard plastic bushings that don't fit over the Koni sleeve, but fit fine over the bare shaft. Wondering if I'm better off drilling out the bushing or running them without the sleeve...
    Thanks for the great (and timely) video!

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад +1

      Use the sleeve for sure. The OEM sleeve he had on his old shocks didn't fit the Koni's. I used the new supplied one. I wouldn't use those weird bushing the top hats come with. I'd suggest getting the energy suspension ones or just OEM if that's all you have currently. The Koni sleeve fit a little tight into the ES bushings but it wasn't a difficult fit at all.

    • @EvilGenius007
      @EvilGenius007 6 лет назад

      Garage Built Hondas thanks for the insight. I'm really curious how well those hard "bushings" I have would work, but I don't want to go for multiple alignments just to satisfy my curiosity. I will probably break down and buy the ES bushings, just goes against my nature as a cheapskate and desire to experiment.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад

      Try it! I just felt like there's no deflection on those solid bushins but maybe that would be even better?

  • @RadiOG58
    @RadiOG58 6 лет назад +2

    Hate to be the debbie downer but I am really skeptical about those coil sleeves being from Ground Control. If they were, you would not use that silver cup piece because they would rest on the little clip that goes into the grooves on the shock body. Those springs look like the ones used by GC since they are made by Eibach. Plus GC sleeves use a hex bolt to tighten the collar that the spring rests on. I am just saying this because I don't know how other sleeves hold up, especially if they are from random eBay sellers.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад +1

      You're correct and perceptive. The coil perches and sleeves are generic, hence why we are using the cups. The coils themselves are the GC's made by Eibach. These used to be my old springs but I have upgraded to 550 rates. I'm still using my Koni's with the original GC sleeves/perches. We had to use the cups because it was cheaper to find a generic set of eBay sleeves/perches. Good eye man! *I forgot to add the eBay sleeves/perches are great. I've used many in the past with no issues. They are a great solution for picking out some custom rate springs.*

    • @RadiOG58
      @RadiOG58 6 лет назад +1

      Garage Built Hondas it was really difficult for me to find a front set of GC sleeves since I already had rears so I almost did this. I ended up finding some GC sleeves and buying used springs. I love this setup. I have 450 all around.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад +1

      I don't know if they sell the sleeves separately. I'm sure they might be we never checked and since he was buying my old coilover setup I had those sleeves lying around and threw them in for him. I still think buying a $35ish coilover set off eBay just for the sleeves might be cheaper than the GC/Eibach ones. Lol

    Just a quick question, did you reuse the oem Brake Line Bracket that attaches to the bottom of the strut and sits above/on the fork? If not, what did you do (if anything) to secure the brake line. I didnt see that mentioned and was curious.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  4 года назад +1

      We zip tied it to the shock since there is no provision for it unfortunately. On my 90 Si the stainless brake lines I used were shorter so it doesn't wrap around the shock and it is attached only to the fork but is perfect length. I wish I knew why these were shorter.
