Hii TheSketchUpEssentials - Justin Geis can you do a video on how to create a same skin over a parametric roof which has uneven contours and curves, please
Thank for doing these Justin, it definitely helps to learn from others who have paved the way. What if your target shape is not something simple like a regular tunnel as depicted here (even though it is curved which is great BTW), but a surface shaped like half an egg (for example)?
This is really easy to do thanks to the way of your explanation. I did it in 4 hours at the first time but at my second try I could literally do it in minutes. Thanks so much
Your tutorials are amazing. I was struggling in finding Voronoi + Conic Curve plugin. I have tried the link you provided and searched all over the internet but nothing worked out.
Hi, If you want to get more kind a geometric forms when you use conic curve in face you have to open the define parameters box and set to 2 on the number of points box. I take the opportunity to say thank you for your huge contribution to this aera. I ancorage you to keep working like this!
Wouldn't it be amazing if Sketchup had a home page or a 'start a new project page' with different objects similar to what you just did and, in one click we could get the settings with all the plugs and extensions required for that specific project? I'm just thinking about beginners' productivity. hehe... for not calling it laziness. Thank you once again... This tutorial is super helpful for my project. I am trying to build a roof for my self build home extension with a garden room and would like it to be an organic copper or metal rusted fabric with these openings.
Regarding materials, could you prepare a tutorial on how to develop a bill of quantities (BOQ)? Say, an MS Excel list of what materials are used, how much/many of them are used. THIS is because based on such a bill, the unit prices of each material can be done after inquiry in specific market. NO contract can be concluded without BOQ, you know. BOQ is the key leading SketchUp to actual engineering projects.
That fix now dialogue box that pop up whenever tryna do modify or save is so annoying.. don't know why does it appears all the time, mine is also 2018 version and I don't know if this happens only for this version or are there anyone with different versions get through with same problem
Hi, thank you for explaining. When I'm doing the same process the resultant curved voronoi face changes shape and does not align to the one I originally had. Could you tell me how to solve this?? Thank you very much
I tried to recreate this model following each step but when i am doing flowify at the end, i keep getting " Source geometry group must contain raw faces". I don't know what it means & how to fix it. Can you help?
Great video! I finally understand how to use voronoi...and flowify LOL, I'll show you my results anytime soon. Sidenote: metric system is the real deal bruh
Hi, I remember you mentioned in a previous video about a pluggin that can can align groups / objects, but I can't find that video. Could you tell me the name of that pluggin please. Your help is very much appreciated. Thank you!
Hello. Great tutorials! I'm new to sketchup from 3ds max and have to learn quickly on the job. I have an issue, when i try to impose the grid, nothing happens. We have just updated to 2019, maybe a version issue? I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. If the grid will not create automatically can i create a grid plane manually to use? Thanks in advance
@@Thesketchupessentials thanks for the reply :) you must feel like a broken record ;p I checked my groups and they seemed fine. That said, I'll redo the tutorial to see if that's it. Thanks for the reply :)
Hello Justin... I really think your videos are great! I have found a lot of very useful plugins for SketchUp, but I'm having some problem trying to download Voronoi. I can't find the way to download and install it. Any ideas?
Well... I go to the link, and download two file ".rb" Then, back in SketchUp, I try to install the plugins as usual (through the extensions window), and it doesn't recognise the ".rb" files... so, how did you install it?
@TheSketchUpEssentials I learn a lot from you. yeah you use inch, I only watch how you do it step by step and use my own measurement. Thank's a lot. Do you have some reading material which I could buy? I use sketchup mostly for Event Planner. I like how you explaining things, so I really considering buy some reading material from you. because I am newbie in 3d designing world. thank's.

Great video but not being used to the imperial system it really baffles me how people prefer to say and think of 201 feet 10 and 3/8 inch instead of simply 61.53 meters...
@@Thesketchupessentials I understand you feel that way but it still baffles me, especially since it’s so prone to errors, which could be very problematic in an architectural environment like the ones typically used with sketchup. Just look at your own confusion in the video - a few seconds after saying a measure you weren’t sure anymore if it was the right one because it’s so hard to remember.
@@arturrosa3166 It's not prone to errors. We build buildings all the time in America with imperial. I work for a commercial general contractor who builds commercial projects in imperial and they're fine.
@@Thesketchupessentials History proves otherwise. Common sense too. Typing 201' 10 3/8 inch" is obviously more prone to errors than simply typing 61.53. This is obvious it's not even debatable, it's pure common sense. Also, think of all the conversions and calculations. How easily can you tell me how much is 201 food 10 3/8 inch minus 4 feet and 6/16 inch? Now compare with 61.53 - 1.51. There's no way you can convince me the former is less prone to errors. Plus, think of the time you'd save in sketchup when typing dimensions - just type a number instead of a combination of numbers, spaces and fractions. And think of the ease of conversions. If I want to convert something, I just move the decimal point: 1.45m = 145cm. And even conversions between units - I know that 1 liter is a cube with exactly 10cm side and that this weighs exactly 1kg. Now try to do the same with your units...

You need to check your grouping - 99% of the time if the grid won't impose, it's because your grouping isn't set up properly
