Mind blowing stuff man! Was always wondering what would be an easy way to make complicated patterns on doubly curved surfaces and you gave it to me in under 14 minutes! Thanks a ton!
Excellent tutorial, Justin...I am self taught with Sketchup and people like you are an excellent source for learning. Thank you for your time and energy. Keep up the good work.
Thanks David - I'm actually also self-taught - there are a lot of great teachers on RUclips - it's really awesome that you can completely learn to use something like SketchUp without ever having to pay for training or anything like that. Thanks so much for watching - I appreciate it!
I was kinda wondering how to go about making a net-like surface, kinda what you'd see in a trampoline; you know that netting that is used to shield people from falling off. Now, so that after a render it does look like a net. Anyhow, good job going. You and Alex Oliver from SketchUp School are the more responsible for nearly all the best stuff I've learnt about SketchUp. Gracias!
I absolutely love how we all do the "doting parent" thing when we talk about SketchUp... "just remember to save, because you're (rightly) doing something huge, and sometimes SketchUp doesn't like that". 🤣🤣 I mean, we all know we have to do the same when we're using the other, seriously expensive, CAD software too... but we just ... treat SketchUp like it's a cute pet that sometimes has a hairball on the carpet... 🤣🤣 I just love it. We all love SketchUp so we deal with the cute little whoopsies.... 🤣🤣❤❤💙💙
Hello Thank you very much for your training How can we get shop maps from this plan? Let's implement it. Please also teach the method of preparing the shop map Thank you
Hi. I have a question relating to shaping of this sort, but taking into account materials. So I want to visualise is square glass bricks arranged in a diamond pattern, with imagined grout between each of the blocks. Now, to curve this array of bricks vertically. Obviously the glass bricks themselves cannot bend, and their corners cannot impact one another but at most come to rest against each other. The 'stretched/compressed' variable is the grout infill between the blocks, and it is the contouring of this between each of the adjacent blocks that I am trying to understand, and would like to 'model'. This requires setting material properties, as well as assuming that Sketchup can treat a groups of free-floating tiles/blocks as a single entity for bending... I have the feeling this is not within the scope of what Sketchup can do, but I would comment! Thanks
Your teacher probably also has to teach a lot of different programs, so that makes it hard to focus just on SketchUp - glad you like the videos though :)
Hey Justin, I have a selfish request ;-) could you do a tutorial on how to model a plane and in a separate tutorial, a car. HOWEVER nothing too detailed and that is done from blueprints like many of the other lengthy, non commentary RUclips tutorials already out there. Something simple, very very basic like ABC similar to your earlier tutorials on how to model a house for beginners. So again, just the basics of a car and plane as this is just for messing around and having fun in sketchup. Hopefully it’s as simple as that and you’re up for the challenge 👍🏻😉 ps: I’m more interested in getting the profile and curves right and perhaps how you would use follow me tool (if that’s even the right tool to use?)
I've got a problem with skp 20, because WELD is not avaliable for this version, by the way, u're amazing dude. I've been learning a lot with ur videos, thks.
Hi, when I use Shape Bender there's nothing going on. I am available to pick the group and both lines correctly but it doesn't show me anything. Sketch Up is still working and my mouse is white but that's all. Do you know where could be mistake? THANK YOU!! :) Your videas are the best! :))
Hi MR. Justin, Again it WOW.wo...........w.you are there for only WOW. The way you explain is very effective and this your style, making you stand apart. just keep it on fine tune it. expect more from you.my wish list for you is getting more longer.
Is there any way to keep the hex shapes on the inside unbendable? I mean keep the same size as when it was flat. The only thing I'd like to get bent when I bend the whole shape, is the contour of the hex's.
Hi great videos! Perhaps you could help me , when i use the mouse cursor dragging over the geometry to select i use to see the square line and now i don't see it , is there something i need to do or option? thanks
Justin, 1st, sorry about not writing to you for a while, apparently I somehow activated my restricted mode on RUclips. this new extension Shape Bender is really awesome I will definately download it. 2nd, my select arrow on SketchUp is taking 5 seconds to activate for every selection made... do you have any idea on how that can be fixed? Last, since I have been watching your videos my SketchUp skills have become an Intermediate user thank you so much for your professionalism I look forward to your next video.
Hi Jack! Are you working with really large models? You may also want to check out this thread on the SketchUp forums - you may have had an issue with a Windows or Graphics Card update - forums.sketchup.com/t/selection-tool-process-is-slow-unbearably-slow/41147 - Hope this helps a bit!
some thing wrong -"- need help!! I try to do this but when I click "pick" on the initial instance then I click at my first object and LSS box disappear... so what should I do T_T
Thanks Boss. One more query, why my blender object is unstable. It disappears when I try to work on it after blender and it also doesn't show me the processing bar. Please advice.
its nice example on shape bender however its not working the same for me wen i selected the line to bend the shape it says "please select the line drawn on red axis" i tried it several dozen of times but it keep saying the same please help me out
I am facing and error using shape bender. when i draw a wall that is to be curved and line on red axis and the curve to which it has to be bent. my curved wall moves in two different directions. i have made 3 walls using the same command. but having problem with only this one. Please help.
I guess I don't understand the question - it sounds like shape bender is bending your shape along your curve - can you be more specific as to what's going wrong?
Hello! I have a slight problem. Every time I click a path, Sketchup would freeze. Is there any solution for this problem? My file is like 900 KB. Thank you! :D
Does it work if you use a smaller file? Like if you tried it on a very simple shape? Kind of sounds like a PC speed issue, but I don't know that for sure...
I have no Ideas what I did wrong but this tool didnt work in my case any time, when I try to curv component to half circle. And my second bad case with FredoScale Radial bending. It didnt work too.
It's been years, and this video is still useful. The world needs a man like you!

Hi Boss, Where to download the Extensions related to above video. Link will be very helpful. Thanks in advance.
Thanks Boss. One more query, why my blender object is unstable. It disappears when I try to work on it after blender and it also doesn't show me the processing bar. Please advice.
its nice example on shape bender
however its not working the same for me
wen i selected the line to bend the shape it says "please select the line drawn on red axis"
i tried it several dozen of times but it keep saying the same
please help me out
Did you draw your line along the red axis? If it's not going that direction, it's not going to work
@@Thesketchupessentials yes I did draw line on red axis but still no luck
I am facing and error using shape bender. when i draw a wall that is to be curved and line on red axis and the curve to which it has to be bent. my curved wall moves in two different directions. i have made 3 walls using the same command. but having problem with only this one. Please help.
I guess I don't understand the question - it sounds like shape bender is bending your shape along your curve - can you be more specific as to what's going wrong?
What can I do if it doesn't work ? I followed all the instructions but when I use shape bender it doesn't show me a preview
Are you sure you set it up EXACTLY the same way? Maybe try a simpler shape first
Really helpfull
Thank you!
How can I add some face like glass?
what extension did you used sir?
It's literally in the name of the video...
how i can share some problems regarding this. when i use this it doennt follow the curve path instead it get rotated just. will u help plz
You mean when you use shape bender?
@@Thesketchupessentials yes
thanks
Thanks for watching!
I don't know why I haven't extension command. Sketchup 2020
So neither tool worked? I'm going to need a bit more info on the steps that you're taking - it's odd to me that neither one of these did anything...
So I did some shapes and try to curve to 270 degree, but after 180 all shapes slice horizontally
I neet to curve lizard along the ball. I try both tool: flowify and radial bending but both of them unsucsesfull
u can do it with FFD plugin more easier
That's definitely another way to do it - thanks for pointing that out!
Great!
Glad you liked it!
It won’t work on mine I’m not sure why
Can it be used to create a geodesic dome?
Probably not this method - those are a lot more geometrically precise, so you'd have to use a different method...
Nice
😀
Cool
Glad you liked it!
