This is one of the few tutorials that have actually captured my attention. I was able to follow and really learn how to use some of blenders systems, Especially the nodes. It really made the simple scene have so much more depth. Truly stunning!
Best blender tutorial ever ,very simple ,very powerful .really good job my brother ,hats off .please make more
You never cease to amaze me with the quality and detail of your work.... I'm still working on your class on Udemy....Thank you!

iam blown away by the quality of my cave :D Amazing tutorial !!
I am going to follow this tutorial and make this scene. I love the way you explain step by step with each keyboard shortcut. I will send you the result one I finish. Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial. I love the way you teach. Your method is simplistic and the teaching is on point. Love the video. I am a Maya person but I will do this tutorial. Really love the video thank you so much. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
thanks! looking forward to see your scene :)
This is one of the best Blender tutorial Rob, even a beginner like me could follow. Very impressive, just bought your environment design course on Udemy. :-)
thanks realy helped alot waiting on more tutorial videos
Nice one! You might want to know that there is no need for guesswork regarding creating complementary vertex groups. Just paint the floor group, copy that group (Properties/Object Data/Vertex Groups/Down Arrow/Copy Vertex Group) and in weight paint window: Weights/Invert. And i think there is a modifier solution to even take a picture and turn it into a vertex group, so if you bake your vertex paint, your match will be perfect.
thanks for this feedback, will use this method in the future
I love the textures and HDRI's you have! I would love to become a patron but as I am well... let's say not old enough I really can't :c
Great tutorial!
very nice, thanks!
Thank you! So much!
very usefull!! Thanks for sharing :)
The Color-Data/Non-Color Data menu is now at the bottom, marked "Color Space"
Blender v2.82
Thanks Rob!
Wow! Amazing!
It's a tilde. The wavy button next to the 1. Lol. I love your artwork.
Thank you.
Magistral!!
Good work! New suscriber :)
thanks!
I tried to do this step by step, but I got 2 issues:
when I'm using the first texture medieval wall, this ugly line between wall and floor appears. I don't quite know how to manage this.
2nd is the floor texture: it appears much too big on the floor and I couldn't find a solution for resizing.
Do you have any ideas?
Great tutorial, learnt loads, would be great to get a new version for Blender 4.0
awesome
the only person that will make sure the people following save the work!
you are amazing
I have exactly the same issues as Heiko Knaack, when I'm using the first texture medieval wall, this ugly line between wall and floor appears. I don't quite know how to manage this, I'd like to blur that seam line.
2rd issue the displacement map doesn't match the floor texture
you the goat
I recently picked up blender and am trying to learn how things work. I was amazed that you could make a scene like this in less than an hour, and I understood most of the steps. The only thing I didn't really grasp was when you baked the light and reflections. What exactly did it do, and wouldn't you have to redo the step after changing the lights, geometry or textures?
Thanks a lot, very well done and useful. I learnt that useful thing about vertex painting. I don't have that "light probe" stuff, is it only in 2.8?
my hero ;'D
Thank you for this excellent tutorial! Could you please make tutorial about how to take this with the textures to Unreal Engine?
Very nice. As a person coming from Maya / Max 2.8 is quite appealing. Any chance you could make a overlay for your tutorials where we can se what key/combo you press? Would help noobs like me tremendously.
7at 7:09 for those who didn't understand Press CTRL R to add the loop cut :) i hope it helps you alot
how do you fix the interior of the cave for export to UE4? Every time I try to export my cave level to use in UE4, the entire interior is invisible and my UCX colliders aren't working because of this.
very impressive.. keep it goin mate.. sub +1
Anyone know what the wavy button/ Tilde button would be on a Swedish keyboard? We don’t seem to have that one...
Perhaps I am too late in getting an answer... :/
Help please. 7:01 - What is CTRL + O? I'm using mac, I can't reproduce this step :(
Love this tutorial so easy to follow! Oh and any chance of getting the links for the lamp and also the caricature model please. TIA
I did exactly as you did starting at the 41:46 mark. past the 42 mark, and I can not get any volumetrics to work.
Hi, great tutorial. Having an issue though. After vertex painting the floor, I add the Mix Shader and the Attribute node - individually I get the correct texture in the correct place, however when I combine them, using the "blue" attribute, I just get a purple mesh. Thoughts?
Okay, I narrowed it down to the normal maps. It only seems to work with one or the other normal map, but not both. Very weird.
I'm having the same issue.
Yep, same here. Purple mesh should mean missing image but individually all images work. I tried the 2K and 4K ones but it made no difference. Problem is the normal input. When I changed the block images for the wall images it worked. Somehow, the block images seem to be defective.
use cycles instead of eevee
Having trouble when I add the wall painting I lose the floor texture, any advice?
Most of the time you have to select the main UV map when switching back. if you keep selecting the painting UV map coordinates, you get a wrong preview
To answer you Q @ 4:40
Each Blender Version has its settings (located in C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender)
So it will pick up all your preferences from there.
To start fresh, just go to file and load factory defaults (or delete folder)
thanks!
Or here:
/home/your_username/.config/blender/2.80/config
nice, power pc
14:25 "I can't imagine they'd keep it like that" .... They did keep it like that.
I'm trying to do this now... but so far I get nothing but white in the render view?? I'm at this point... ruclips.net/video/Eqn0zbouqhI/видео.html
but when I connect it... all I get is bright white shape and no texture. Any ides?
how can i export this in unity with textures?
Could you please upload the scene files?
Would this also work with the adaptive subdivision?
As far as i know it is still experimental, if it is stable in 2.8 i will use it next time.
Hi .. GREAT video it's helping a lot ... but I'm getting a problem when i use the bump and normal in the nodes for the ground and the cave it's colour turns into pink as if I'm applying a simple colorramp any solution ??
use cycles instead of eevee
hello! It's been 5 years and there is still no file
xD
Awesome tutorial, thx. I'd like to start making tutorials myself but don't know how to record one. Maybe you could do a tutorial on how to make a tutorial 😁.
Sardi Pax does one!
Cool, the thx.
struggling with understanding what you say at times, please have what you click or say on screen, cause i do the same but dont get the same result
You should set all textures to non-color data, except the diffuse map
I always uses non color data for the spec, roughness and bump map. for some reason the refelction on the maps looks better when using color data. Feel free to check it out yourself. I think i demonstrate this in the previous tutorial.
The wavy button is called "Tilda".
ahh, thanks ! dump dutchy XD
Why you don´t use the texture-coordinate node? Then you could change the texturesize in the node editor and you don´t must go every time to the imageeditor
good one, i think it's old habits. i will think about this in a new tutorial
Oh dang youre the same guy from the Udemy course
How to export to WebGl?

Any Mac users? Shift-Alt-Right click Alt-Right click Neither selects an edge loop....always used the former in 2.79 without any issues....
warwicklambert.com it should work since it works for me on my MacBook Pro
When I mix textures it all turns pink
Same here....the textures work individually but when combined show pink....any clues anybody?

where do we get the wall painting from?
The new UI doesn't look good with the colors of the old UI. Good video nonetheless.
True! I'm using the black theme and it's pretty nice!
I take it this process can bey done and imported to UE4? net to see a tut
The old man character is stored on the google Drive. This Drive is available for patreon suporters. however, all textures are click and downlaod
Thank for the reply I'm a tad hard of hearing so missed the google drive bit sorry
