      Well, yes but... it's immediately a turn off to see such a major conflict of interest with the Game Sack content in the game. I'm glad he mentioned it so early, because after seeing that it immediately becomes impossible to take this seriously as a review. What's he going to say, 'the game is really boring and disappointing and lame'. Hardly. He's not obligated to say anything good about the game of course, but I think it's quite misleading to call this a review.

      @@logan86123 But did he not back the game to get Game Sack content in? It's not like he was paid to advertise this or to get Game Sack in the game, right?
      Maybe you know more about the situation, but I just assume he backed enough to get that in.

    • @nekononiaow
      @nekononiaow 5 лет назад +4

      @@logan86123 You must have misunderstood something. Joe paid for the game like any other player. There is a conflict of interest when you get paid for the review, not the other way around.
      That they chose to advertise it back then does not change a thing: they were not paid for it either.

Also got it on the Switch since it's such an awesome game, and there, well, it can drop a few frames - but more annoying are the load times, which on the PC are nearly non-existent. Joe, not only was this a really excellent review of both games, but I really feel like this is the right direction for a solo Game Sack episode! I really appreciate all the episodes you have done and I appreciate your enthusiasm in continuing Game Sack without Dave. However, I can't help but notice Dave's absense in the episodes following Dave's departure! Perhaps it's because the format has remained the same but now without Dave's reviews. Apple pies and certain other foods do massive HP recovery and you can carry (99 of them (I think, I only ever carried around 40 which was more than enough). Also obtain the Augment LUK shard from the mimics in Inferno Cave and then craft that into Augment gold. Collect 9 of these and rank it up to 9 and it becomes a permanently equipped shard, then equip it as a passive for a double effect. This will cause candles and torches to drop 100, 500, 1000, and 2000 gold bags and you will never have money problems again.
    If you find a rare drop like gold that can be dismantled you can then recombine the materiel you just dismantles into the item again and it becomes available from the shop.
    You can cheat your way through the ninja race in Den of Behemoths by using reflector ray to bypass the starting line. Run the course and across the finish line then go back to the start and run through the starting line. When you get to the finish line again you will win even if the ninja made it there first.

    Great review. I was out of gaming for quite some time. I just got my Switch in 2022 when the OLED one came out. This prompted me to buy games. This was one of the first games I bought. I loved this game. I had similar sleepless nights as I wanted to find out what was next in the story and enjoyed the immersion in the world. The graphics were amazing as was the music. I am super happy with the game. I bought mine at retail in 2022 so I didn't have any of the version update issues that you would experience I suppose. This game lead me to get Curse of the Moon 2, which I was upset when I realized it was an 8-bit version of Castlevania. After playing the 2.5D version one I was not that excited to play it, but I realized quickly how good the game was and what it was trying to be. After playing that game and beating it, I did find out about the Curse of the Moon original release, but by that time the game was selling for way more that I wanted to pay. I then learned about the Limited Run Games Castlevania Collection. This lead me to find out about a Physical release of Cuphead for the switch which is great as well. I kind of feel this should have been an expanded review, but I understand at the time you didn't want to give away very much in way of spoilers. I have now come to find so many, many, many shooters that the switch has. I missed out on Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun pre-oreder, but hopefully I'll be able to pick a copy up at some point in the future at a reasonable price if I catch a good auction. I finally caught up to the episode where Dave said good bye. I have been watching the series in order from your website and enjoy seeing the natural progression and improvement of your show from where it started. Love the humor, though sometimes I don't get it, but...GREENDOG...lol.

    He got it right about the PC version even tho he was being sarcastic. It is basically flawless, whereas every other version has had major patch bugs and serious performance issues.

    9:44 THANK YOU! Glad to know I wasn't the only one that thought that. Literally the first thought to cross my mind when I entered the tower was, "damn this sounds like Ys' music." Absolutely loved the music, ESP the main, Glacial Cavern, Garden, Tower, & Oriental Lab themes. :)

    It's Shitstained on Switch. Buy digital on that platform only if the patches work. Has game breaking bugs 4 to 5 hrs in.

    Great wee review Joe (as we say in Scotland). Your opinion really matters on these sorts of games so really glad you did this one. Would be great to see more in the future too. Cheers

    IGA knocked this one out of the park. It's a straight up rocker in all areas: visually, gameplay and soundwise - equal parts Symphony Of The Night, Aria Of Sorrow and Order Of Ecclesia. Glad you're enjoying this, Joe.

    Awesome review Joe! I’m about 22% of the castle explored and love it! While curse of the moon reminded me of Dracula’s curse, this one definitely reminds me of symphony of the night. I actually keep slipping and calling it symphony of the night. 😂

    I'm unsure if it's a widely known bug - but I had a freeze on that exact same bookshelf on the PC version of the game (it totally locked up). But really good review and I'd agree with it!

    Had a glitch where all my stats were pretty much down to 1, and Miriam's ENTIRE FACE was missing. After the patch, it fixed it up. (Patch even fixed up a random popup from a piece of building geometry that nobody probably noticed. lol)
    I am still getting some green treasure chests opened when I didn't open them, but luckily it wasn't any of the ones that the items I needed in. Blue chests seems to return on their own, which I think is a feature.
