Thanks for the decent review of the DeWalt string trimmer. I purchased the same trimmer and the DCMWSP255Y2 mower. I love not having to have ANY gas in my garage. My trimmer came with a 9Ah battery, and the mower came with 2x12Ah batteries. I noticed on the string trimmer that I can use it on Low setting, and only need minimal power to complete all the trimming on my suburban property. I then switch to the edger attachment. This I use it on High at full speed. I've been really happy with this tool and its attachments.
For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.
I’ve had the dewalt string trimmer and blower for five years now. They have been flawless. I use the 5.0 and 6.0 batteries in them. So much better than gas powered small engines now.
@@bigbigspoon I got the new "Beast mode" of a Dewalt (DCST970X1), but I also purchased the much larger guard to go with it. 60v of power clearly kicks the 20v units butt. The older unit works great, probably 3-4 years now, but its going to my rental properties now, new one staying home with me. Even on LOW, I barely just touch the lever to take out weeds around the sidewalk. No, it does not have the attachments, it has raw power I've never seen in a battery string trimmer.
With a brushless trimmer you do not tap it. You turn it on to the speed you want and run at that speed. For careful work in gardens, around cars, etc you just run it at the lower speed. Much easier and safer than a gas trimmer.
You were replacing your string every 2 weeks?! Holy crap. I usually go an entire summer and only replace once. I'm guessing that metal fence is chewing through all your string
@@bigbigspoon Almost sounds like the head is constantly spooling out string instead of just when you tap it against the pavement. It shouldn’t be doing that.
These dewalt trimmers are powerful from what I've seen. Even my Echo PAS 2620 can sometimes struggle with the edger attachment when it hit s a bunch dirt.
Back in the early 90's we had electric lawn mower (black and decker) God that thing was a POS.... Im in the DeWalt house as well, they are all my power tools and my yard tools and even chain saw... They work great!
Was it a cordless lawn mower? Back in the early 2000s I remember using an electric lawn mower, but it wasn’t cordless. It really wasn’t that bad in my experience, just had to get used to be tethered to an extension cord.
Biggest issue, quality and durability. Ryobi, for example, in famous for its low quality and lack of durability. Sthil and echo are known for their quality and durability. Within that scale, where does the DeWalt 60 volts trimmer stands? For how long the battery last, the key is that for longer continuous work you will need more than one battery, safer to have four and a rapid charger. Three batteries and one fast charger is the minimum for continuous work.
How much runtime did you get with your batteries? If you can include run times for both settings (1 and 2) if you used both for the duration of the battery, that would be great.
Dude your the best. Went out and bought a gas echo weed wacker last week. I own many dewalt tools. Changing a battery is one thing. Tearing it apart to use it is another.
Yes, this too may be my biggest gripe. I have a Stihl gad Kombi unit. I'm 5'10" and my back ACHES from stooping to use edger/trimmer for ~60 minutes. It's ludicrous -- as if manufacturers don't care. Instead of a longer, more appropriate length for adult men, I guess they shave cost with shorter overall lengths!!!
i think you would be better off with the EGO ecosystem for lawn tools... Dewalt should stay in their lane they arent the best for lawn tools. a lotof these issues you mention dont exist on EGOs products. and it has auto load string where you just press a button.
Wait till you need the ego nonexistent service/ warranty. 60v dewalt trimmer beat all the others on by far the best tester on earth. Project farm. Yes it beat the ego
@@michaelvoorhees5978 had it for over 2 years and no issues so dont really care about warranty or service. and project farm is highly subjective it depends what you care about how you take their results.
@@CGGC0202 ok, and who cares if Dewalt isn't the very best for lawn tools. They're good enough for people who just want to stick with power tool batteries otherwise you're left spending more $$ for lithium you probably didn't actually need. Save some money and buy more power tools that Ego will never ever make. I can think of dozens of other Milwaukee/Makita/Dewalt tools I'd rather buy than some Ego batteries I might only ever use on 2-3 tools. Plus Dewalt's powerhead doesn't use proprietary coupling. So being able to pick up attachments from Echo, Stihl, Husq, Ryobi/Hart, Troybilt, etc, etc is a nice option for catching more potential sales or used market attachments.

You enjoy the older trimmer model? Am I the only one who got the model with a tiny trim guard? 99% of the trimming cover me up when I use it.
Maybe u suck at trimming?

Is that your wife's house? Doing her lawn care? Thats awesome!
Should have only took care of 1/2 of the lawn.

Gee... That's one minute you're never going to get back switching attachments on the tool. I have all of these and they're great.
Since you bypassed the safety switch I hope you take the battery off while not in use, or when feeding new string?

I'm sorry
The new 20v edger is better than the attachment
Looking into giving this trimmer a try this season
I'm looking for something, I won't look like Quasimodo after because I was bending over so darn much.
Great video thanks man
Wish they had an adjustment for taller ppl like yourself. You had to kinda lean a bit to use

Awesome video. Wish I could use battery, just have too much to trim. Isn't Linus' firetruck video his most watched video?
With this crap going electric, why don't they redesign the line dispenser to be electronic instead of mechanical.
