    i got the same dewalt trimmer... no issues with mine .. i run mine on low speed and so far i have weed eated my yard 8 times for a total of 85 minutes and still have 2 bars left ...
    have a buddy that bought a "Ryobi" trimmer with a 7.5ah battery.. he said he has to charge his every 35 minutes.. he may run his wide open all the time but i don't know .. but my experience with my Dewalt timmer is great .. I would recommend the dewalt to anyone

      Not sure how everyone in the comments is getting so much battery. I only cut like half my yard, didn't even get to the front of the house. Maybe outside for about 30 minutes...not running it the full time. Just bought it brand new, charged it the night before, then ran it this morning. ....
      Perhaps only because it's hot outside? I'm waiting for it to cool, so I can charge it again. It got pretty hot. Hoping it can be ready to do the front by the time I'm done cutting the back.

      Same here. I just got this for my birthday last month, but I’ve used the older version (970) at work for the last few years when trimming the property. The Husqvarna Titanium is also a great trimmer line. It also did really well in Project Farm’s tests about a year ago. It’s the stuff I’ve used for years on my Husqvarna trimmer. I’ve always been a Husqvarna fan, but these FlexVolf trimmers are hard to beat!
      The one complaint is that the bump head seems to be the weakest link on this thing. The one at work lasted about a year. The Husqvarna T35 fits on this thing. That is an old, proven head that lasts. There are plenty of videos on YT showing how to switch them out. I figure that once the one on my new personal unit fails, I’ll do the same thing and swap it with the T35 head.
      Great video!

I notice with this string I can trim my half acre without bumping out a lot of line. I also have tried Echo and the line breaks all the time like all the others. I tried Stihl line and I paid for the name it was useless

    I’ve had mine for two years now.
    Few things.
    1. replace that crappy string head with the Husqvarna trimmer head, so much better and string changes are awesome.
    2. keep an extra battery or two at the ready.
    3. carry a brush in your pocket to unclog wet grass from the top of the motor head….it will overheat and smoke.
    4. keep a cooler with a bag of ice for your wrist and elbow for when you’re done….the freaking handle is not ergonomic at all and it’s very uncomfortable especially after trimming hillsides.
    I still like the unit but I fear that the motor will burn up eventually.
    I love the fact that I don’t have to mess with fuel mixture.
    I love the instant on and low noise.
    I go through two 9 an hour batteries pretty fast when doing taller grass on roadside berms.
    I wish the tool lasted longer but that may be attributed to age and wear over two years time taking care of two properties.
    I ended up putting my old Ryobi handle on mine to help with the fatigue.

I learned what I needed to learn, I bought the dewalt 20v(returned it 2 weeks later), it worked great but I didn't like the fact that the motor was in the head of the trimmer, it was bound to fail prematurely due to all the bumping. I have had mine for a couple of years and I agree it has done a good job. I would take it over a gas powered any day. However, the battery stopped working and wouldn't take a charge. A replacement battery cost about $250 (with tax) for the 60 V 9 amp. Just be aware that when the battery goes it is not going to be cheap to replace it.

  • @temporality_
    @temporality_ 4 месяца назад

    One thing that needs to be said...if you have an older Dewalt 60v trimmer with the motor attached directly above the trim line feeder you need to make sure that the vents around the motor housing are kept open and clear especially when doing heavy thick weed wacking for extended periods. After 7 years of heavy use on my 3 acre property I let the weeds get too thick and went thru six 9 amp hour batteries one right after the other and because the vent covers were blocked with 1/2 inch of green weed goop the motor overheated and started smoking rendering it permanently burnt out. I believe the newer 60v models have been redesigned with the motor installed up next to the battery housing which fixes the vent clogging problem!

    • @victornicholson16
      @victornicholson16 2 года назад

      Also I think the new model only uses Dewalt attachments, referring to a security device to stop third party attachments. Dewalt may find a challenge from the ACCC for anticompetitive behaviour so the change will need to give the user more than mere restrictions.

    You're moving pretty fast - I tend to take more time and the battery does run out before I'm finished. But so what? I put it onto charge and then mow for 40 minutes. Then I come back and the super-charger has given me maybe 60% of the battery life back. By the time I use that charge up I'm physically done - as I'm in my mid 50's, not that fit, and the bleeding thing is heavy! ;-) So I don't mind. Also - in a rare Australian deal they let me redeem a voucher for a second battery which will be arriving soon in the mail. So - more than enough power. Electrify everything and we can run the world on wind and solar. This is the way

    I'm not sure if you spooled your string correctly since it was edited out but it seems many people cuss at it because they do it wrong. There is a very easy and simple way to do it so I'm mentioning, just in case you want to look it up. You basically align the white marks, pass the string through, then use a ratchet motion to get it in.

    Amazon says it weighs 15 pounds. Home Depot says 13. Either way it's not a light weight. My 35cc 4-stroke Honda weighs 15. But it's good that the motor is mounted aft. These things feel way heavier when the motor is on the cutting head. But I really hate the whiney mosquito noise electric trimmers make. It's even worse than 2-stroke whine.

      @@FamilyDIYtv I'm going on the one I bought assembled, and actually all I've seen. It had maybe a 10 - 15 degree drop, compared to the pole of the saw. When I laid it on the limb it would pull the saw'head to the limb and dig in to saw. Had I turned it over, with the angle up it would have pushed out & away from the llimb. Maybe yours is different.
