She was so preoccupied with fighting her rivals (who were in fact legitimate heirs to the throne) that she neglected ruling the country. Yes and no. She did a lot to help stabilize the throne during Murad’s early years as sultan. And Murad himself is remembered for restoring the authority of the state (among other things). She also did quite good in the early years of Ibrahim, by pushing for more education around the sultanate. But a lot of her time was spent trying to dethrone the sultans who drifted from her influence. This meant that the ruling family was more unstable because at any point she could convince enough people to dethrone the sultan and install a new one. But to be fair, this was already happening to the ottomans for generations, and it wasn’t her influence that weakened the family, so much as the jeneceries basically kept the family hostage when they realized that they had all the power and they were in charge of the family’s security, murad was able to change this but since he died young they picked up right where they left off (Othman and Ibrahim).
