Kirk cousins is 36 this year coming off a season ending Achilles injury, his contract we signed him to is perfect for this Penix pick. Most of Kirk’s money is in the first 2 years of his contract lol, we could cut him in 2026 before June 1, and save 32.5 million against the cap. Also Penix is going to sit behind a very good quarterback for at least one year, (pending injury) and learn and develop. Look how Jordan love turned out. This is a great move by the falcons. A lot of people don’t comprehend how drafting works, or contracts. Kirk cousins gives us a “win now” situation, while Penix is our potential QB of the future. Great pick by the falcons. Absolutely. Kirk’s contract makes complete sense for this too. The falcons are thinking ahead. Very smart pick. People who don’t understand just don’t understand the long run mindset, or how drafting works. KIRK IS 36 this year bruh lol. 😭😭 like this is a great pick.

Easily the worst pick in the draft. How do you sign a guy for almost 200 million and then draft a QB IN THE TOP 10. Say penix fell in the 2nd round and they drafted him there I think people wouldn’t be on the falcons case as much. They could’ve gotten Kirk another weapon that they don’t need and still wouldn’t have been as bad of a pick.

You have a new quarterback learn from someone with experience.
Teams let a new quarterback allow them to develop while sitting on the bench.
How is this "the worst pick in the draft?!"

We are gonna need a quarterback after cousins. So I’m okay with the pick who knows penix jr might be the next superstar quarterback.

Upset about The bears not grabbing Harrison at 1 and Penix at 9. Falcons made a smart move. This young man has a better arm then Tua. He can air it out

Prior to the Cousins signing, I was one of the biggest supporters that they need to draft a qb for the future. Again this was when everyone was on the Justin Fields trade hype train. Mariota was never the answer and idk what they saw in Ridder to draft him. I thought Kirk and Heinicke were Falcons QBs for now, but now they added Penix for the long term.

Trade back and get picks if you don't like the defensive guys, and still draft an impact player.

I think this gives Penix time to get his mind and body ready for a NFL season. He can also learn a ton from Cousins either way its a win win for Atlanta. You'll have a pro bowl qb and a young qb who is more comfortable with the playbook with weapons all around. The division is up for grabs and you have talent even though its mostly on offense.

Man ain't none of these QBs guaranteed. It's all a gamble and you need a QB for the future and Penix is a winner. Always had been. I can't stand how the NFL sits and waits till the last moment to look for a QB. Get one now while the class is so high on talent.

Hard to argue with the owner's pick of Penix with the 8th pick because Penix is a very high character guy, in addition to all his football skills. If you are betting the future of your franchise on a QB who you believe has the skills to take your team to the promised land, high character has to be in the equation.

Falcons still needed a QB for the future. Cousins is good for a few yrs. But now they have their next guy. I knew the falcons were going to draft a QB

Just think how pretty the Falcons would be sitting if they got Penix on a rookie contract and NO COUSINS so they had that 100 million to spend on other players....

50 million would have really helped on the Dline, something they had trouble with the last 2 seasons.
Then after 2 years, it cost 35 million to cut him...
