one funny thing about the Venthyr area, that bottomless pit has 2 little dudes sitting on a ledge if you get down to the ledge you can push one in and he yells at you haha
My forsaken disc priest is an eccentric tree-hugging nature-lover, so she’s going Night Fae! Choosing hers as such because it fits her story, I’m not interested in whatever is BiS, and each person is different, more than just their race or class (though those can be important too of course)

i like the RP aspects of each factions and how you would pick for your character, Like i understand going the min maxing route, But fuck that sometimes its fun just to go Fashion/aesthetic craft lol
Aesthetics, pets and mounts are the real endgame. They are the only thing that lasts after the expansion is over.
I'd say that if you aren't a super duper mythic raid progress player/min-maxer, you should be just fine going with the Covenant you want to go with.

except that the convenant differences are heavily affecting your m+ dungeons and we are talking about low keys +5 etc. so you cant really pick what you like unless you are a casual who just does quests and world quests

Really awesome video. Most people are only talking about which gives you the best raid dps and such. I dont raid so its nice to hear what other things each covenant will provide.
I feel that Revendreth is actually a good choice for a Paladin. It’s meant to be a realm of redemption and repentance. with Danathrius out of the way it can be returned to that purpose.
My Paladin is having that friction in choice, too (which I'm not mad about - I like choices!) I love playing with the Kyrian ability, and it just seems like the default Pally choice....but when you really think it through, the purpose of the Venthyr is right up a Paladin's alley. And restoring order to a faction that has fallen apart is just icing on the anima cake. My Paladin is my 2nd alt, so I don't have to decide for a couple weeks, but I'm really struggling about which way to take her. Thematically, she's definitely not a Night Fae, but that wooden plate armor did make me think at least twice about it, lol. I even see why some "Might is Right" Pallies would go Necro. It's not my thing, but I"m glad that this class can really go any way and not feel "wrong."
@@annemowdy391 This is the exact same situation I find myself in. Except my Paladin is my main so I'm even more pressed to figure out my Covenant.
Venthyr make sense from the repentance/redemption angle. I'm a sucker for a good redemption arc any way and since my Paladin is a Blood Elf, Kael'thas being present in Revendreth makes the Venthyr even more enticing. I just don't really care for the aesthetics of Revendreth and Venthyr.
Kyrian, though.....just feels like THE Paladin covenant. With Uther being present and their emphasis on law and order and surrendering oneself to the "greater good"....I just hate the Kyrian plate. It's sooooo bad to me.
Night Fae.....Mostly for the armor. It's the best looking Covenant armor, imo, and the fox mobility ability would be a god send to the normally slow as molasses Paladin. The zone also looks absolutely amazing. My Kul Tiran Druid is definitely going Night Fae
Im having the same issue with my belf ret pally. The way Ive played her it should be the Necrolords, but they are the weakest and the asthetic doesnt really fit with giant golden wings.
Second choice would be Venthyr however thats where my frost mage is going which suits her perfectly.
Kyrian look incredible and is powerful, but totally opposite of how I play my character. Id end up with black wings so damn fast. Also not a fan of weird owl things.
Night Fae is totally out.
So Im kinda at a loss.
@@Kronical69420 Honestly, I will probably go Necrolords with my Dark Iron Paladin. Defender of the Blackrock mountain in life and defender of Shadowlands in death.

I feel like canonically the best covenants for each classes would go like this (just my opinion):
Bastion: Priest and Paladdin (obviously)
Ardenweald: Druid, Hunter, Shaman and Monk
Revendreth: Demon Hunter, Mage and Warlock
Maldraxxus: Warrior, Rogue, Death Night
Necrolord Unholy-DK there is no other choice!

@@gixxie117 Its more meant in a way that for me there is no other choic, cause i think it fits the best. If i would play Blood- DK the Ventyr would be better thematicly.

I think I cool thing blizzard should do is give you the option to change the appearance of your abilities based on your convenant. Like how destro locks and have green fire for their abilities. So if you chose necro lords your abilities would look more nectrotic. I just think that would be a cool thing to do
I am coming back for SL, but the covenants give me flashbacks to BC. Just having two factions in that XP could be a pain if you needed something from the other; with four I could imagine it being a nightmare.

I'm excited for my night fae tauren paladin. I think blessing of the seasons fits great with the sunwalker class fantasy, it looks very fun and thematic!
The nice thing is they are all so cool you can't really mess it up.

Venthyr for my warlock. Venthyr for by Blood Knight Paladin. Kyrian for my Ally Pally and probably for my spriest too. Necro for my DK. Hunter and Drood for night fae. Warrior, probably night fae, same with shaman. DH will probably go for Kyrian cause I really like the leather set from them. Rogue will go Venthyr. I'm unsure about my mage.
I'm planning to have one character in each covenant: Hunter - Nightfae, Paladin - Kyrian, Shaman - Venthyr, and Demon Hunter - Necrolord, but man I am not vibbing with the Necrolord aesthetic.
My undead disc priest is going venthyr and staying there permanently no matter what. My vulpera arcane mage will be going night fae because I like the way the zone looks.
Also their ability is great for Arcane mage, which is also why I am going night fae
For me, It's tricky because I tend to multispec since I'm not only trying to find the covenant that gives the best bang for my class, but also offers flexibility if I want to hop onto a tank or healer role with hybrid classes like Paladins, Monks, and DHs or subroles with Hunter (Marksman & Survival) and Mages (Fire, Ice, Arcane).
I'm on an RP realm so I'm making my choices based on my characters' personalities, for instance my Tauren DK is joining the Night Fae because he was a shammy before being raised and is seeking to re-establish his connection to nature he lost.
But...But... Having a Tauren DK in the first place is just wrong on so many levels lol
I'm going nightfae on pally just because I like the mog lol I don't really care

so how do you choose a covenant? like literally what person do you talk to? where at? or what do you do?
Took me 2 and half days to hit 60 and now to finish the story to figure where to put my hunter i have no clue yet. Two covenants I like at the moment. I'm starting to see they took the concept of wod and legion to make it more user-friendly. The graphics that make the moths in night fae area are so detailed i was amazed. The storyline so far for me was very emotional excited and then sad to amazed. Blizzard hit alot on this expansion than they did in a long time.
Chose my covenant? I can't even decide which class I want to play yet. I usually switch each expansion and am leaning heavily towards brewmaster monk, but shadow priest is a lot of fun too!
I feel that pain! I've spent the past month levelling one of everything, now it's the 11th hour and still not committed to anything. Think I'mma just go BM hunter tho, since I haven't played a pure dps class as a main in over a decade!
I have lots of characters so I’m going ALL. One each cov so that’s the best way to Xmogs and mounts etc

Dude, the wowhead page was last updated 4th November, way before the Kyrian nerf. Sharing it is very very bad on your part right now.
Venthyr for two major reasons. 1. Best aesthetics. 2. Least obnoxious NPC voices and interactions. As much as I would like my Pally to be Kryian, I find them all quite annoying. Not nearly as annoying, however, as the God Forsaken Night Fae. Holy shit, I've never wanted to leave the zone of a brand new expansion more in my life.

Just play whatever you want and like, stop taking this game so serious, it does not matter if you keep up with everyone. Do what you want and take it casually.

@@0ihatetrolls01 No no, the idea that you should forego your own choice because it's not "BiS". Making a choice like this shouldn't make it harder for you to find groups to do group content. You should be free to choose what you think sounds/looks the best to you
I still don't know, how important the choice is. I play warlock and i love revendreth, but it seems to be the worst choice. But when does it come up? Only in pregress raiding? Or do i even alck dmg in heroic dungeons?
Me, playing through the Beta leveling story: Ooh, I definitely want to be a Night Fae...maybe a Venthyr, but probably NF! I love their story and aesthetic!
Every guide: You should go Necrolord...maybe Kyrian, but probably NL! They're better for your class!

Night Fae, it will always be Night Fae. Because Druid Transmog and gardens.
My question will be: what should my alts play?
I have 31 characters. There are currently 4 armor types and 4 covenants, so my goal is at the very least to get every class type, into 1 of each covenant. I want to pick what matches the theme of my character. I think Night Fae speaks healing priest/resto or balance druid.... Venthyr certainly is blood Dk, Holy pally Kyrian etc that's how I'm gonna pick them
A warlock not being attuned to either necro-lords or venthyr makes literally no sense aesthetically...

To be honest, I thought kyrians and night fae were unappealing. Now they have some of the coolest zones, mounts, and armor. So they 2 characters that I will likely main one will be kyrian and one will ne night fae. I do plan on doing all 4, they will just be alts for the other 2.
I'm a mythic progress Raider, the question "which is the best covenant?" is easy to answer for me: the one that gives me the most DPS/HPS/Survivability^^
Yup, though as discussed in the mythic community. There is also the dangers of nerfs/buffs ever patch to covenants, and thats my biggest fear, switching covenants every raid tier.
@@sentofwinter which isnt untenable actually. Like if you are switching covenants for the rewards you'll never get them. But you can switch covenants every two weeks and have access to their abilities. That's doable.
@@condotiero860 if you switch to another one, don't you first need to grind out the renown for that covenant. As far as I understand it is that you first have to get all covenant to renown 40 before its easier to swap em out and get the full benefit of the conduits etc etc

I have the same problem :D I think of going NightFae though. The Stopm just looks amazing and I'm not that hardcore anymore so I really don't care which Covenant does more dmg/healing.
Im playing Windwalker Monk this expac as my main, i plan on going night fea regaurdless of BiS cause i want to enjoy the fealine stomp and ascetics of fea.
My panda monk likes to be in Night Fae :)

Kyrians are devoted warriors, kinda like monks.
I had the same problem with my frost DK. Ended up going Night Fae for that AoE attack and because I liked story

I can't decide what covenant to choose as a Priest, I like the aesthetic of the Kyrians, but their ability is just so horrible I can't force myself to play that for 2 years. Like a 3 min cd that forces me to push a single button for 15 seconds straight and be on melee range as a ranged class instead of playing priest.

1 covenant isn't enough to last us 2 years. i really believe we'll unlock a second then all 4 throughout the expansion.
there is also a real chance you don't need to unlock each armor type, while not outright confirmed a lot of the text and things the devs have said suggest you unlock "kyrian armor" not "kyrian mail armor", meaning as long as one of your toons have the rep anyone can their armor transmog (come the end of the expansion when its been flat out said they will remove the 'needs to be in the covenant' restriction).
Do not quote me on this, as, as I said its not been absolutely confirmed, but it is something to keep an eye on as then you only need 4 toons not 16

What about CONVOKE? It’s like the best thing about night fae and not mentioned? Were all the spells like this left out? I just got to try that and don’t remember the ones before it offering me such a thing. In any case I’m Druid so I need to be night fae 😄

Hey, when you unlock armor theough the renown system do you unlock only your current class' armor type? Or all 4 armor types for other characters?

Also, Covenant mogs can not be used on characters of a different Covenant, so unlocking them wouldn't do much.
Great overview! One question I have is whether each class needs to conform to the caste system for each covenant, e.g. can my DK go to Bastion and join the Kyrians? Can a Priest join the Necrolords, etc.?

I’m prob going venthyr on hunter even though it seems flayed shot is the worst ability damage wise right now. I just love everything else about the covenant, and even the ability sounds cool and fun. Assuming Blizzard are going to be balancing things throughout the expansion, numbers will change anyway.
I'm going bastion as old orc hunter. And also night fae with some i dunno yet char. And that's it.

Transmog is the deciding factor for me. Just bummed that I don't like any of the leather sets. All trash, maldrax one is ok i guess. But first xpac where I'll actually be playing 4 toons

You can only play and choose what "you like" if you play Solo! The way most WoW players think and play is if you do not have "the best right now" = Kick/No invite!
I would love to play and choose what I like to play as you can do in Elder Scrolls Online or maybe also Final fantasy? But you can just not do that with the current or past WoW community!
You can if you have a lot of real friends to play with but having that changes most multiplayer games to a complety different experience! :-)

Covenants would be so much more interesting to invest time in if they would last beyond one xpac.
Was hoping to get some insight on the abilities and relative power levels, kinda disappointed to see the 13th video on the Nightfae being the nature people type of info.
I'm pretty sure the one thing we all know more than anything is the general themes of the covenants, and wow, that's the only stuff we heard about in that long ass video. Well and about 5 seconds of telling us to go read Wowhead if we want to know anything. One of the worst vids out there tbh.
There are thousands of “which covenant is BiS for each spec” videos, to the point where it’s hard for me to find covenant videos that AREN’T about that, not to mention it’s all anyone talks about for the last several months, with charts and spreadsheets galore; so I’m glad when themes and lore and such are brought up

In my head my warrior has been a necrolord since I first heard of the covenant. But everyone is shouting at me to go venthyr
