@@thatbimmerguy2747 probably because of the cost,weight and because it's something different.personaly i would have gone woth a 4cyl bmw engine,i've seen people getting good numbers out of them
The m52 was knackered and they're not that great anyway for turbos. M50 is the one you want and they all need rebuilt now after 30 years. The audi engine cost 50 pounds and came with forged pistons and crank as standard. Plus it's a bit different 😊
The four cylinder bmw engine is very very capable when built up properly. But as they were never designed for a turbo they need serious money spent on them for good numbers.

I have a audi a4 20vt aeb engine in the garage that was meant for a past project still got all the ecu etc and I have a e36 coupe with sadly the wrong engine its the 1.6 would love to change it to a m3 3.2 or e46 330 engine and running gear but this could be another option.
Very strange conversion, but like you said a very capable engine so why not! Don't know if worth using sump and oil pickup from an a4 as engine already facing the same way? Maybe the same but something to look into

Sr20 was never an option. The other choice was a saab b234 but hard to get a good one now as the vauxhall guys have pushed the prices up doi g swaps into astras.
@@autoshineblackpool B234 would be a cool idea, guessing you can probably use some Omega running gear for RWD but imagine the prices are only increasing now on all those parts
Sounds like it's going be a good build lot of ppl are starting to use them turbos try getting in touch with darkside over in Barnsley I no they do lot of diesel but they do dabble in petrol engines too congratulations on getting married
As a BMW fan and owner, I don’t know how I feel about this, being a VAG engine and all. Is that a ZF box? How well does the VAG engine fit in the engine bay? I’ve always wanted to swap a K24 with a turbo in to an E36, they’re a cheap engine here.

I would have stayed with the M3 engine or at least consider the LS block. will be interesting to see this.
That would mean taking the m3 engine out of the m3 though. Ls are expensive here. My dad's put one in his porsche though, it's an awesome engine
