straight up, the coolest laptop i've seen in a long time

hasent asus made a similar product?
So what chipset is it's using?
Acer Iconia was the first one to ever do this back in 2014
Simple and genius device! Lenovo have done successfully what Microsoft tried with neo/duo attempts.
The possibilities are 🤯🤯🤯 We're so happy you're as excited about the Yoga Book 9i as we are, Dave!
A phone with a similar design would be a great alternative to Microsoft Surface in general. Because you know, Microsoft can't be Microsoft if they don't show something cool and working to later get canceled.
Amazing product! Can't wait to see the 15-inch version!
Why not releasing just a portable dual monitor? I don't know how big the market could be, but I have been waiting for years
@@eldelbaar yess I would also love a fairly affordable dual monitor
@@eldelbaar buy two portable monitors and 3d print a hinge ;o) (got one two weeks ago: 2560x1600, 16", usb-c pd, 1.5lbs, 0.43" thick, vesa etc. for about $140... thinking of buying another)
I would have never considered it without the keyboard but the way it sits together and that you can use it on top of the bottom screen is amazing
Yeah I have the same thoughts, that keyboard and that support make the setup very convenient
I still never would consider it.
My immediate thought when I saw the thumbnail was that this would be terrible because of the touch keyboard. When you showed the keyboard magnetically attach, I was sold. It could be awkward to set up every single time, but the fact that they thought ahead and solved the problem in such a smart way really impressed me. Will be interested in hearing pricing

Literally came here to say that 😂
I'm not usually a fan of gimmicky products, but this has so much potential. I honestly wish they made monitors like this, that's thin, folds in half, and you can expand it into a dual or larger monitor. As a designer + editor who travels a lot, something like this would be pretty useful.
Ok

That's a really neat and compact portable dual monitor setup.
especially if lenovo makes it compatible with the flux keyboard
I know a lot of people nowadays even carry one of those portable monitors with them out to libraries and cafes for productivity. Double monitors make sense just for way too many workloads. I used to work for accounting firm and our case numbers increased by 40% or so once we switched everyone over to double monitors. There's just a lot of productivity benefit that is not visible to most people in the first place.
i really wanna get it but its sooo expensive
Genuinely think Asus and Lenovo are dominating the laptop market right now. Pretty much every innovation on this front has come out from one of them.
And Hp too
Apple?
@@carticactus Apple isn't as innovative when it comes to laptops.
@@carticactus HAHAHAHA you are funny
Innovation, you say? Look up the Acer Iconia 6120 from 2011. Dual screen clamshell laptop with identical screens and no keyboard or track pad.
This is actually a much better way to approach double screen on laptops imo. Compared to zenbook duo which leaves you with a tiny double screen which only feels like an extension to the single larger screen, this yoga 9i makes the second screen feel as if you bought a second monitor for a desktop setup; allowing you to experience all the perks of a second screen on one singular clamshell device.
Only thing i'm afraid of now is the price tag...
This laptop starts at $2,100.
As a long-time Zenbook Duo user, I wouldn't downplay the second screen to "an extension to the larger screen". Having extra screen real estate is so valuable I can't imagine going back to single-screen laptops.
1.5 screen is still better than 1 screen. But yeah, super interested in Lenovo's approach here with 2 full screens!
@@PSYCHOV3N0M Where did you find that number?

As someone with a hybrid work schedule I could see this being incredibly useful. It's basically an all-in-one portable dual monitor, all you need is a wireless mouse and keyboard
yes exactly - if you are a road warrior and traveling a lot, this is a godsend because double monitor is crucial
Isn't that the major problem with this? Without a stable surface, the 2nd screen with virtual keyboard and touchpad doesn't feel as good as even the cheapest ones. And carrying more accessories can be a bit of a nuisance. Unless you use this on a table, the 2nd screen is more of a hindrance that an advantage.
But I can definitely see its uses. It's a case by case basis on if the 2nd screen is useful or useless
You could always pair an Android tablet with a Windows laptop or Surface Pro in 2nd screen mode. Maybe not as portable as the Yoga, but it works great. I did this all the time as a student. I would study with dual monitors while sitting on my bed or on the road.
@@Madman6505 there is one major problem with that. If you want to use some Mac or Windows apps, you can't. And obviously power. If you want to do some really resource heavy things, samsung dex isn't the best. But it's perfectly fine for some simple things like Web browsing, writing documents or making PowerPoints
Eww wireless, why?
What's so fun about charging crap?
I love this as a proof of concept laptop genre, and I really hope it's picked up by the market and becomes more common. I also really like the way the stand is designed, incredibly intuitive and creative, not to mention useful.
They 100% need to do a business oriented version of this. I carry a laptop to and from home and work and it is plugged into a USB hub monitor both places. Having this would add an extra screen super easily and still gives the portability when out at a client. Mega.
"Super easy, barely an inconvenience" you might say?
My first thought exactly!! I want this for work so badly!
100% agreed.
what is a "work oriented" version
@@codesymphony Business laptops are usually different in spec and design to consumer units. The business laptops are built to be more physically robust and often have an emphasis on CPU performance (over graphics) and battery life efficiency over outright performance.

As an engineering student this is actually perfect for watching video/reveiwing articles on one screen and taking hand notes on the second screen. Game changer for all the calculations, sketches and drawings that are headache to do with a mouse and a keyboard.

Windows 11 slaps macOS.
I’ve owned two iMacs and two MBP sin 2005, and still use my iMac for work from home, and I carry an iPhone. For me macOS has been stagnant since around 2016 and to be honest, when my work switched to windows 11 workstations I thought I would hate it, but this is definitely where the innovation’s at.
This is legitimately my dream device. I'd have to wait to see how it performs but its looking like something that would get the job done for my programming and art. Also, as someone who regularly switches between a number of languages, being able to easily switch the keyboard on my laptop like I can with my phone would be amazing.
I really found it a strange monitor but that 360 degree hinge and both way showcasing just blew my mind. That is an insane product!
such a good concept... once you start into multi-monitor, it is soooo hard to go back to just one monitor for any kind of work. Very interested to see how much this will cost when it is released. if too expensive, it may just lose to just getting a laptop/tablet device that can be used as an external screen. Hope they dont mess it up at release.
It's true only if we are talking about windows-based notebooks with shitty multi-desktops' managing. Unfortunately, windows hasn't enough modification tools for their OS, and therefore this type devices look brilliant against default multi-app usage performance.
If u try to use tiling managers (linux, e.g. sway), it won't be a problem anymore - you can easily and quickly control your desktops and manage windows
I've got a 32:9 5120x1440 display, i personally wouldn't go back to multi monitors.

I don’t think a 15 inch is that ideal. Sure, more screen is always nice, but it lakes away a bit of portability. This laptop doesn’t really compete against regular laptops, this is more catered to an Surface or an Ipad Pro user.
"...well thought out..." Most of the scenarios he pointed out were simply dual monitor uses. The use of multiple monitors has been a thing for many many years, this just so happens to be 2 monitors already packaged together.
Very useful and practical for productivity, but it's not that much of an engineering leap to set this up.

I have a MS Surface Duo phone - two individual screens that can be spanned into one large one. The same concept in miniature. It works really well.
Love the Surface Neo when Microsoft teases it, and this thing looks like an even better version of that, so this thing is literally a dream come true for me.
Whenever I see a Yoga laptop, I can see an over-reliance on hinges. I had a yoga 5 years ago. Not a bad device on its own. It's cool to see that Lenovo finally decided to make the Surface Neo, since Microsoft has apparently abandoned it. At first I thought the whole concept was kinda dumb, but as simple as it is, that stand makes it all make sense. I'm not going to buy one, but there are 2 very simple changes that could entice me: First, switch to a Ryzen 7800U (assuming that's what the successor to the 6800U is called) or an Intel P-series chip with an ARC GPU. Second, make a 15-16" version, I hear Apple is working on a 15.5" Macbook Air, just steal that panel. As an added bonus, there should be pogo pins for the keyboard when docked over the lower screen for charging and lower latency.
Wow, someone who still remembers Neo! Keyboard hard connection is such a brilliant idea. They should also use surface book shaped hinges so the keyboard can always be stored at the space between the two screens if necessary.
And keep the pen with the device instead of the keyboard and the stand, nobody uses a pen that much when the screens are tilted to that angle and using a keyboard.
I was looking for Surface comments. To be fair, Surface Neo was more of a phone/tablet, but they are targeting a similar customer market; business
