I met Jason Nested in 97 backstage and we talked about mountain biking about 10 min as he was signing autographs. Super nice, chill guy. Very accommodating
Waited 1 and half hours after concert ended and got Lars And James autograph in Montréal 1992 but Kirk and Jason didn't come off the bus for some reason. Too bad cuz Jason was my idol. Still one of the best nights of my life.
I kind of Get what you saying, but even if he came back he could not lift the band up again to the aggressive awsome late 80’s and begining of the 90s era, they are to old now to perform at the level they did..
Rob's a great and reliable player, but his weak point is his backing vocals. He can't project very well, and they carry no weight like Jason's did. Even though I know he's never coming back, anytime I hear new Metallica, I'm always thinking, "I wonder what this would sound like with Jason on it."
Lucky enough to see them in the summer of 92 (before James got burnt in Montreal). They were a fine tuned machine and it was amazing. Jason being the most fun to watch out of the band. I was 16 then, 47 now and I’ve yet to see anything come close to that show. I doubt I ever will.
Please keep making, because it's the truth, and people need to know it! The man really was the embodiment, thru his tenure, where the others got tired and maybe a bit jaded, not to mention the detrimental effects of the money. Dude deserved better. He really was the soul.
He was just PERFECT for Metallica ! Best vocals at the end of Enter sandman : Freddie Mercury Tribute ! In my opinion, best lives versions of the 3 songs they played that day
Metallica was blessed with great bass players since the very beginning. One of my biggest concert regrets is never having seen Metallica with Cliff and being too young to have seen them with Ron and Dave. Thank God though my friends and I were able to see Metallica twice with Jason and twice with Rob. Absolutely 💯no doubt Jason gave it everything.
Newsted (the band) kicked ass, so did Poppa Wheelie. Meatlica is all about the geetar and no so much the bass, but his backing vocals added a dimension to the music. Kinda like when Dave Grohl stood out among the Nirvana drummers thanks to his backing vocals.
Jason à du talent et allait bien en duo avec James , dommage que James reconnaît pas que les deux ensembles certains époustouflant et merveilleux leur voix allait bien ensemble . Tout dans le respect et l'esprit d'équipe ❤️
Jason was the fire in Metallica and ruled the stage every show and had the most brutal backing vocals....gave 110% of himself after every show also singing autographs and talking to fans while the rest of the band were nowhere to be seen!!
James and lars didnt want jason in metallica cause jason is way more badass than them. Same reason with dave. Jason and dave u guys rock 👍🏻👌🏻💪🏻🙌🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻🤘🏻
there was so much more like spirit and speed when jason was on metallica u know it felt more like its so much fucking heavier ans those lives were just fucking epic am i only one but still cliff was maybe best biscause ride the lightning and master of puppets
Be an interesting thought had jason and Metallica had stayed together throughout since his induction into the band and Metallica allowing him to contribute to the creative writings amd his over all contributions as equal to them all Id say they be in overall total double if not more than billions dollar worth One could only imagine i suppose so to speak
He probably isn't allowed. If you listen to Infectious Grooves, the man IS the soul. He's had the longest time in this band, and dude's only been on 2 albums and LULU . Feels like he was hired to maintain the sound, run out the clock and was offered a nice retirement plan....it's a shame
I remember thinking "yes yes James is growing his hair back out and is going to be a badass again" during the time of that first clip of king nothing. Nope,...never happened.
And people gave him crap because he uses a pick. Just let the bass do the talking and feck how it's played. Burke Shelley, Tom Araya and of course Lemmy played with a pick and they all sounded just fine. A world full of Steve Harrises and Geddy Lees would be kinda boring.
I’ve always been obsessed with Jason’s DARKNESS and LANDMINE

His neck deserves an introduction to the RocknRoll Hall of Fame alone
Mine literally hurts just from watching him headbang. No wonder his neck is all fucked up now.
Jason has been the best backing vocals metallica hava ever had
And the best lead vocals since about 1990.
The whole band felt better back then, they were a unit, one force of music. It changed when Jason left.
it did, james returned to himself but it was never the same again and no thunder hits were ever more written inmo
@@tabularasa2015 can't help but have a place in my heart for them though. When you've grown up to them, it's hard to not.
no disrespect to Rob, he's a great player and guy but wished Jason would be back
They lost a bit of their intensity with Rob. Maybe they just become old... idk
@@julLPian not really robs fault, they completely changed their attitudes in the making of st anger and also grew up
I think ,in my opinion , with respect , Rob is too good for Metallica

The most metal person in Metallica. I love him
Jason is the spiritual successor of Lemmy Kilmister in my eyes. If only he got more credit than he got and still gets these days.
They haven’t had backing vocals since Jason left.
Rob sucks
Rob has gotten a hell of a lot better with his vocals since he joined the band but he hasn't been able to match Jason's level
Even on the AJFA tour Jason was an exceptional Energy and voice in Metallica

I really miss Jason's vocals.
Jason to James: look at me, I'm a the main vocalist now, you're the back vocalist
Woodstock 99… Creeping Death… end of the chant into the final verse. Jason’s death howl perfectly leading into James “ssssshoop”
Jason is an absolute badass

Love Jason. Such a bummer he’s not where he belongs,”With Metálica”. 🤟🏼
The issue there is that they didn't let him feel like it was where he belonged
3:10 James doing Mongolian throat singing lol
Legend
It's very sad that Metallica rejected him after all these years. I like him very much , his is way suited for Metallica than Rob..
i wanna look more like 92 era james

No disrespect to Rob, he didn't fit then and didn't fit now.
Never will
and he's a nice guy too
Rob is a funk player and a rlly good one. Jason lived and breathed metal which is why he fit better.
1:30 drum sounds👌
🤘jasonheavymetalnewsted 🤘
Could someone please tell me, what is that live on 2:24? Thanks!

Rob doesn't bring any type of heart and soul to the band he just plays the notes well.
Agreed

Yep he still feels like a fill in studio session musician

rob got better at backing vocals, but no match to jason. hope they do some anniversary full concert with him again. just one more time.
Jason's great bass playing exposed Lars' bad drumming live.Just my take.

Damn what is the first song its sick you guys know its name?
King Nothing

@@DrEagle1776thanks man, his vocals so amazing there. Also appreciate this series very much
Jason spit microphone 0:09??
Is it me or could disposable hero’s go on the ajfa album
The only thing is that there are vital bass parts to the song.
he was the best bassist metallica ever had, including cliff
What's the 1st song?
king nothing

0:52 song?
Harvester of Sorrow
02:10 song?
Turn the page, garage inc. Bob segar cover
Jason... bla bla bla... he happened to be part of Metallica at its peak. That's all...
Yeah, from then they went downhill, which is really sad.
They become a cover band of themselves
@@CarlJohnson234 they became cover band cause Jason left
Jason was absolutely awesome at backing vocals but never "outperformed" James.
1 second into the video: “outpreforming” 🤦♂️
when Rob join to band ,everything collapsed, there is no metal anymore in Metallica
Jason is the best backvocalist but not a front man. He was perfect with Hetfield but not outperforming him.
Nice try, Jason ;)
what's the song in 0:35?
Disposable heros
need Jason bk in the band Jason good bking vocals and all Rob ..naaaaa👎👎👎
Jason was awesome. Rob is also, in his own way. But everybody after Cliff has been a fill-in basically.
