There was bass on and justice for all?
Rumour has it yes.
I'm pretty sure I read and saw a pic where Jason recorded the Garage Days Revisited with Cliffs Aria Pro.
Hey Jay, that's cool! If you see the pic link me and I'll put it in the show notes.
You can see him holding it in pictures for the album. I was reading different people's comments on talk bass and it's disputed if he used it on the recording. I can't remember my source when I first read that but I tend to think he used it from how quickly they put that together and the tone of the bass from the record. Just a neat thing if it's true.

Oh wow, thanks for sharing. That is seriously interesting and I've never seen that before. I've read that Lars took one of Cliffs Aria's after the crash and has kept it in his house ever since, maybe it's this one? I've not seen any other reference to Jason using the Aria so that's a brilliant find.
The infos in the description are wrong in the part of the writing credits. While he did contribute to My Friend of Misery, he is credited for Blackened (first song ever written for Tallica) and Where the Wild Things Are and none of those two.
Anyway, as for the suggestion, I've got one name: LEMMY.
Thanks for the feedback, Lemmy gets another vote.
Jason was/is credited for My Friend of Misery also
0:27 That is a gorgeous bass
Homemade basses always have their own charm for sure.
I think Jason was one of the first to bring 5 string basses to the mainstream.
That's possible. I can't think of another contender. Depends what you mean by mainstream. Mainstream metal or mainstream music. Flea was using a 5 string ray in Under the Bridge which was probably seen more than Jasons lot. Then again with the likes of Good Charlotte and Papa Roach. Both had 5 string Laklands and appealed to a newer generation.
Which Bass mainstream metal I mean.
I'd been looking all over for the matte black bass Jason was playing during the Woodstock '94 show with Metallica and your video was a huge help man. Unfortunately the Spector JN Signature's long been discontinued and any remaining ones cost more than my car....lol
Glad to help Jack! Yeah I think there was footage playing the SSD JN signature at Woodstock, that's the footage I saw too. Can you imagine one of those, the spec's are speeecctacular.
Which Bass Just makes me sad thinking about it! That solid body with those two fat humbuckers.... And it came in 5 string too! 😫
good, very thorough.
Thank you Clyde, I hope you can subscribe for the next video.
Great vid I was just wondering what Jason Newsted used thanks mate.Could you do one on David Ellefson or Les Claypool😎👍
Thank you Ben, so glad to answer that question for you. Dave and Les are both on the list and I'm sure Les will make an appearance soon!
Which Bass Cool thanks for replying cant wait.🤘
Ofc dude, you've taken the time to write me the very least I can do is acknowledge that! If you haven't subscribed already I'll let you know when the Les video is coming out ;)
Really like your stuff. Maybe a Justin Chancellor video in the future?
Thanks for the suggestion Q, Justin has been requested a few times so you will see a video on him soon.
I wonder if there is a way to confirm or not if Jason Used a Gallien Krueger on Justice looking at the settings on the notes it all lines up but then again what was the main amp to on the album
Stanley Clarke! Fantastic videos! Thanks!
Thanks very much Ken, that's the second request for Stanley. Watch this space!
Do one with Cliff Burton please.
I would love to see that.
Another vote for Cliff Burton. Watch this space!
Hey Tobias, I wanted to let you know my Cliff Burton video is now out ruclips.net/video/3cb_99LWKnM/видео.html
Hi Alfie, love what your doing here... Lemmy is kind of a given, but how about a dUg Pinnick rig rundown?
Hey Scott, thanks for the good word. Lemmy is a given but you're the first to suggest him! I'll add both to the list and see what I can do. Watch this space!
you seem to have forgotten one of the keys to his amazing sound...he played with with a pick
I thought that was obvious Steve lol.
@@WhichBass he also with his finger's depending what was been played.
another great job thanks man .
Thanks Kaj, glad you enjoyed the video.
Love it thanks Alfie
Thank you Lucy, good to hear from you again.
My compliments on your effort man. Well done. My suggestion is not to limit yourself to rock/metal bass players only. Cheers.
Thank you very much Stratro I appreciate that. I'm doing videos of players I'm comfortable with to start with. Is there any one outside of Rock/Metal that you would like to see or could suggest I look into?
Which Bass Sure.John Patitucci for start...After you review Rob Trujillo, Billy Sheehan and John Myung.;)
Haha thanks Strato, all very fine choices I shall look into them all. Thanks for your input.
My pleasure..You can also include some video material....there`s lot of Jason free stuff on youtube with Alembic , Spector and Sadowsky basses, right?
Love the stuart spector JN
Beautiful aren't they. Wish we could see/hear more!
The sound on introduction of hero of the day is Very beautiful. It's a flanger?
Nooo, that's a fretless bass!
@@WhichBass best Bass player of Metallica. Sorry Rob and Burton...
I heard this from somewhere, but didn't Jason use a 12-string bass when recording "Wherever I May Roam"?
That sounds right, I thought that was in the video. It's been a while.
One small correction to add.. Jason still used Alembics through 1993 and used the 6 string Alembic in 1994 in sad but true.
Yes indeed! I think I saw him using the 6 string at Woodstock 94 - or something.
Alfie, would you happen to know what bass Jason is playing in the video for "One"? Thanks & hope all is well in the U.K.
Heeyy dude, good to see you. The bass in "One" was a Wal 5 string. Did I not mention it in the video?!
@@WhichBass Thanks! I must have missed it. I have two teenage daughters that were running around the room making noise lol. Now that I am officially on holiday - I'm going to watch it again :)
Great info.
Thanks Maverick, glad you liked it.
