Thanks for another great video Brian. I love the rides and your humorous narrations. We live in the Stuart area and it was entertaining to visually ride along with you along the stretches between Ft. Pierce to Juno Beach that I regularly ride and I agree, it’s a bit more enjoyable with the tail winds :) Thanks again for sharing your journeys!
Thanks, man. I appreciate that. I really did have a great time on this trip. It was one of those journeys that were simply the right time, the right place. I had a lot to think about with regards to life, career, etc and those miles were perfect. Thanks for watching, Rob.
It's such a great place for winter riding. I felt extremely fortunate to be able to get down there. (and...don't tell anyone but I'm headed back in a few weeks) Thanks for watching!
FYI for anyone doing a similar ride in mid 2024 -- They are replacing the north bridge at Fort Pierce. It's still passable, but with the construction, there is a half-mile-ish stretch with no extra space for cyclists. I'd recommend crossing back to the mainland on the 17th street bridge in Vero Beach.
An oldie but goodie Bryan. Looks like you had such a great time and as usual you have planted another amazing trip in my mind! And I think that’s called …. Inspiration 😉
this remains one of my favorite rides only because I had no idea what to expect. it was one of those day at a time sort of rides. Having great weather helped also. :)
Great Ride 🚴♂️ Great Video🎥 You can’t go wrong with a bike ride in Florida.. at 1:10:20 you passed the family time share in Pompano Beach 🏝️.. my Dad & Sister are there right now 😎
@@RideAlongAdventures We’ve been staying there for over 30 years.. seen lots of changes.. back in the 1990’s I would do a lot of morning bike rides.. I bet watching a launch was Phenomenal.. in January of 2022 I was in Titusville to do C2C.. there was supposed to be a launch 🚀 but they changed to the next day.. we were so disappointed ☹️
I’ll be 67 in June. Because of you/your videos, I rode the VCT (Virginia Capital Trail) solo this past October. Thank you. You are an inspiration! Me and a friend are riding the Florida C2C in December.
Oh, rock on-that’s fantastic. That trail is awesome. Keep me posted on the C2C! I really want to get back down there. Such a beautiful state. Thanks for watching!
Really enjoy your adventures. You made me chuckle when you posted the sad emojis after saying "hello" to those grumpy riders. Best of luck in your future adventures!
I’ve been visiting Florida for so many years but never read anything about it’s history until that bike trip. Such a unique state. I really enjoyed that ride and hope to see more of it on two wheels in the future. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the incredible video.this is the first video of biking A1A i have ran across and the best done. Beautiful views an description. You answered my question on maps to get off highways in the video. Thanks for taking us along. Happy Biking. I'll definitely have to subscribe.
Wow, thanks. I appreciate the kind words. I really enjoyed this ride. It got me hooked on Florida-you’ll see I’ve ridden in a lot of other parts of the state since this trip. Anyway, thanks again and enjoy the journey!
I have been following you since almost the beginning. I have seen all of your videos at least once some a couple of times . Love your commentary in all o your videos . I feel like you’re talking to me . This is by far my favorite of all of them. Hoping to do it this winter . On another note I’m moving from Chicago to Cincinnati in a few months any advice suggestions? Also if you ever get the chance you should do our lakefront . Maybe even consider doing the Lake Michigan loop . You won’t regret it .
Thanks, Stephen. I appreciate that. Cincy is a great town. You’ll enjoy it. Yes!-I have looked into the lake loop. Maybe next summer. Thanks again for watching. Glad you enjoy the channel. 🙏🏻
Awesome, Dennis. Glad you enjoyed the vid. This still remains one of my favorite rides of all time. I'm returning shortly to finish the rest of the trip all the way to Key West. I hope you thoroughly enjoy it as well. Perhaps as a public service announcement, and mostly because I received so much email with concerns and warnings, I'll just pass it along. You have to be super careful on the main roads. I've learned that there is a lot of insurance fraud combined with poor driving, vacationers who are not paying attention, etc. Stay super visible with lights and reflective gear and be absolutely aware of your surroundings (aka "head on a swivel"). I did my best to stay off high traffic routes even if A1A used them. Whenever I could find a side road, I took it. My biggest scares were in big touristy areas like Cocoa Beach...I had people turning right in front of me, drivers preoccupied with phones, etc. Sorry...don't mean to lecture or to scare you. Just sharing concerns in the hopes it will be an extra great experience for you.
@@RideAlongAdventures I think we have a lot in common… it was a cold snowy day in Colorado… watched most of your videos… you gave me some good tour ideas… keep on rolling😎
Another great video! You much have a much bigger set of…… a much bigger stash of courage than I do because I have to watch your Highway footage with one eye closed, I’ve seen too many flower pots alongside the road with”Please drive safely” signs stuck into them! Planning my next years trips while waiting for surgery for a torn meniscus so I hope I don’t run out of videos before then! Keep on putting out content, yours are ‘Top Shelf.’ Happy Holidays-I hope you get something for your bike from Santa!
... a few oh's and ah's... ... giggles !......&...rest...over-all video content...yay! to all people passing...plenty on hand... And! Thank you; this was awesome!
Glad you liked it. Wow….I don’t even know what some of those emojis mean! 😂 It was a really fun ride. I’m already thinking of new Florida routes. Such a beautiful state!
Thanks for this video! I have been thinking of making a trip down the east coast (from orlando) and this was a lot of good info as to what I would be getting into. FYI: Lauderdale by the Sea is hands down one of the prettiest beaches we have, as well as the closest place in Florida where the coral reefs come right up to the shore, you can snorkel out and see the reefs right from the shore with very little effort. I have spent a lot of time up and down the coast between Titusville and Ft Lauderdale scuba diving... now I'm completely into cycling :D
Have fun! If you want to see a lot more videos about riding in Florida, you could subscribe to my buddy's channel, "FollowThomas". He has ridden all over the state and can show a lot more routes. Thanks for watching!
Great video. I live in S. Florida and work in one of the small towns you cycled through. Sometimes it makes you wonder why I don't get off my ass and explore what is just outside my front door.
Great video, my friend did this ride and went all the way down to Key West but I was wondering about cars and bridges? I lived in Delaware for 4 years- great state and people! Great diversity with NJ/PA and MD next door. Love your videos. A lot of work editing. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, there was a good bit of traffic but I never felt like people were driving too aggressively or haphazardly (which is what I was warned about). I went right before Spring Break started to kick in so I may have missed a lot of visitors, although if you saw the back-ups (like the one getting into St. Augustine), maybe traffic was normal. I only regretted that I wish I would have had more time and kept going after Ft Lauderdale. I'd like to make it to Key West some day. Hurray for Delaware! :) Yeah, I've been here 19 years and it has definitely grown on me. I came here as a work relocation and never thought we would stay. Now my kids are putting down roots here so I guess I'll stick around. thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
Great video, I started watching at work( on lunch if course). Just finished now. What a great week you had. Long live Barbara Eden. Again, that launch was awesome to see. Glad you had a great time. This was a funny and entertaining trip. I have a friend that lives in Cape Coral.
Thanks, dude. Glad you enjoyed it. I was at a bar last night with my son, watching March Madness, and I was SHOCKED that none of the college kids knew of I Dream of Jeannie. 😳
@Ride Along Adventures You're welcome ! that shocked me too, I would have thought the girls in FL would have known just from the area you were in.. I remember watching the TV show reruns in the 80s .
I really enjoy your stats and history lessons. If I was in college I would use these to right essays on. I am retired and that is not in my future. I would love riding one of the long rides.
Loved riding on my stationary with you. I have finished your rides from Pittsburgh to DC, the Erie Canal and now your A1A ride. What is weird I live in Flordia and have not done anything like this. I will get back on the trails again, but for now virtual riding will do.
I can’t tell you how much I enjoy hearing that. It’s EXACTLY what I have in mind when I make these vids. I know how many hours I’ve spent on a trainer staring at the wall. Glad you enjoy them. I’m coming back to Florida in a few weeks to ride the Coast to Coast trail. Can’t wait. Hope it’s warmer than here (I’m riding the GAP in PA and it’s below freezing today).
I really like your tour extended videos. I don't have to guess where your other days are, because they are all together. I am sure there is alot of work here and you have to be computer savvy.
The equation segment, reminds me of the episode in Monty Python and the Holy Grail where they were discussing the air speed velocity of a coconut laden swallow.
I live in Vero Beach and travel between Melbourne and Fort Pierce regularly. It's so cool to see everyday things from this perspective. I was genuinely excited to see some of our landmarks. However, there were several things that you should have stopped to see or mentioned (Archie Carr Wildlife Refuge Visitors' Center, McClarty Treasure Museum, etc). There is so much to Florida beyond Disney and Universal. I'm interested on day 6 how you came into Stuart at 11:00 and Port Salerno at 10:02. Thanks for the awesome video.
I’d really like to do that trip again some time. That was a ton of fun. And I appreciate the suggestions for landmarks. I went back to St Augustine and got to see the stuff I missed there. I don’t recall the route you’re asking about and my phone got wiped so I lost my ride data.🙁
@@RideAlongAdventures Both of those things I mentioned are on A1A. Archie Carr is north of Sebastian Inlet and McClarty is a little south. That white 3 rail fence you rode by is Windsor; Prince Charles used to vacation and play polo there. If you ever do make it back down this way, my son and I would love to ride with you for a while, maybe we could show you some of our local sights.
Thanks. Hope to cross paths at both! Haven’t finalized Katy yet but it’s gonna happen this spring. Can’t wait for RAGBRAI. So many people have encouraged me to do it-have you done it before?
you can see rockets lifting off even down here in miami on clear days. grew up watching the lunar launches , those were awsome. space shuttles were great too.
Ok, I’ll be absolutely honest. I had to look this one up. I’ve never come across this guy and I’m shocked because the first 3 or 4 segments I watched are excellent. I’m such a sucker for good mentally stimulating podcasts. I wish I had something/anything worth saying like those guys. 😊
@@RideAlongAdventures your videos are mentally stimulating and motivating in their own rite. Keep doing these videos. I really enjoy them especially with the history you add. I personally watch them because I’m planning on riding the ECG in August this year and your videos are a great help.
Really enjoyed this video. I Live in Boynton Beach FL (Just South of West Palm) and have scoured the coastline all the way to Cocoa Beach many times over in search of waves. It was awesome seeing you experience my home on via bicycle. I kept saying "oh now he's in (blank)!" before your video explained where you were. Great job!
Thank you. I really enjoyed this ride. You live in such a beautiful state. I’m really wanting to come back and see more, maybe the other coast. I’ve been vacationing in Sanibel for years but haven’t explored much of the interior and I’ve never been to the Keys. thanks for watching!
Dude! Wow, I couldn’t place your name then I realized I watched your cross country video and absolutely loved it! Any tips you have for more Florida routes, I’m all ears. I’m trying to formulate a fall season route from St. Augustine (actually, Jacksonville-probably going to do Amtrak again), then meet up with the coast to coast to the west coast, then make my way down to Sanibel/Ft Myers area, then over to Lake Okeechobee and then the east coast (Miami?) then back home. Again, any thoughts you have would be welcome. Thanks again for your excellent video on the cross country trip. Really enjoyed it!
@@RideAlongAdventures Wow thanks for saying all that! I actually haven't done much bike touring outside of my cross country trip believe it or not. The only other trip I have taken was around Lake Okeechobee. If you are planning on camping rather than staying in hotels/motels, I would recommend checking out Florida's water management districts for free campsites that are very well maintained! There are a few around the big lake I have stayed at before. Since you're going to be up around the Orlando/Ocala area, I would recommend checking out some of Florida's blue holes/natural springs. Incredible crystal clear water and manatees if you catch it at the right time of year. Just watch out for gators! Smooth roads and blue skies,
To bad you did get to enjoy your ride, should do it on a Trike Recumbent. No neck pains, no shoulder pains, no wrist numbing or pain, no lower back problems, no balance problems and no Bruising between the legs. I'm able to look around instead of just seeing the path in front of me, no more having to put one or both feet on the ground so one doesn't fall, just sitting back and enjoy that's what my Catrike Dumont Trike does for me. Also folds up so doesn't take up much room and you don't have to remove the seat like other trikes. Also can carry more on the Trike. I'm 73 years old and enjoyed biking on the 2 wheels but since I got my Catrike Dumont I wish I had it 50 years ago.
I’m going to post some itineraries on my website. I’ll keep you posted. It’s not an “official” route. I sort of followed a combo of the East coast greenway and A1A. Stay tuned.
This is my third time watching this and I’m starting to look into the logistics of going around February or March . Also hoping to hit the Gap in next November. But right now focusing on Florida. Did you make reservations at the places you stayed at or just did them on a whim?
Yeah, I made reservations in advance. The night near Melbourne was nuts because of the Space X launch--everything was sold out and I ended up in a total dive for $$$$$$. Otherwise, I just use hotels.com and pay close attention to the reviews. Thanks for watching! Let me know if you need any other input.
Thanks Bryan... Beautiful trip and great adventure. I personally love the waterfront scenes where the trail gets close to the intercoastal barrier island shores. I used to ride those on the west coast of Florida around Sarasota/Bradenton. Are you still running standard settings without modification. Some of it looked that way but most of it, on sunny days, was slightly yellowed on the grass and vegetation. Just curious with what you are doing and experimenting with. The area you were passing though on the east coast of southern Florida has the highest concentration of the criminal hierarchy in the US and the world. They are all there from all over the world with their security details. Each is watching the other because the water gets rough where they all like to play. Yup... no pics allowed! 🤔 Gord
Re: criminal activity…😳 yikes. I think what you are seeing is the combo of several cameras. The insta360 in particular had some very odd coloring compared to the GoPro. I added a small amount of a LUT which balanced it for most clips. The iPhone seemed to over oversaturate the most and I pulled back those clips. The weirdest were the indoor shots that were just all over the map. That being said, the colors were truly vibrant with sunshine and absolutely gray on cloudy days. It was a challenge! I’m still struggling with what RUclips does in its own rendering. I had to redo and upload the video twice because it was really off. I generally watch it through my laptop on a big screen a few times but then I watched it after the HD rendering and it was needing a lot of adjustments. I really enjoyed this ride. As you know, I’ve spent a lot of time near Sanibel but I’ve never seen a lot of the northeast coastline and that was really amazing. A beautiful experience.
@@RideAlongAdventures Thanks for all that explanation, Bryan. Sounds like the GoPro is the one to stick with. I was going to ask you what the actual impression was and you just mentioned it. It's so important, in my opinion, to find the tools that render the actual impression necessary to project the same kinds of feelings you had. That seems to be the main reason you are recording. Sorry to hear that RUclips wasn't rendering well. If their algorithms accentuate the incorrect rendering of the equipment, then that is another problem, on top of everything else. The gray days all seemed to turn out ok. But the sunny days had the issues for sure. I enjoyed the visuals just the same but the best feelings can get lost if the tones are off. Honestly, I would stick with the latest GoPro cameras. I know you need different points of view in order to maintain interest as well as provide video backup in the event one system goes down. Smart move for sure. Thanks for all the hard work and sharing your experiences. Gord
Hello there!! My name is Bobby G and I REALLY enjoy ur videos. The are scenic and you are VERY informative to the viewing public and fellow cyclists who are just itching to go out and do the same as you. Just a quick question regarding your Florida tour mainly because I am a Floridian and you road past my house(Condo) in S. Daytona. Anyway,I’m wanting to know the name brand AND model# if any of your bike trunk WITH the attached Panniers?? I have a Jann&a Topeak deluxe but they don’t seem as stout as yours. Thanks for time and stay well👍🚲
Hey, Bobby G! Thanks, man--those are very kind words. First of all, Florida is awesome so I'm jealous. Second...I hope you've gone to see those Single-A Daytona Dragons. I'm a Reds fan by birth in Cincinnati. Ok...in terms of trunk bag, I use the Bontrager Interchange Bag (www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/equipment/bike-accessories/bike-bags-panniers/bontrager-interchange-deluxe-rear-trunk-bag/p/14605/) BUT I don't think they make it anymore. If I look at the Bontrager/TREK website, they are now selling a similar bag (www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/equipment/bike-accessories/bike-bags-panniers/bontrager-mik-utility-trunk-bag-with-panniers/p/22739/?colorCode=black). I like the bag overall. It looks like the new bag corrected some of the things I didn't like--the shape of the pannier bags was weird on the old model (pointed end). I bought it because it matched up with the Bontrager rear rack which was included on my Trek Checkpoint. It's flexible because you can zip up the side bags for day trips or short rides. Sometimes I do that AND use some larger panniers (Thule) if the tour warrants it. Bontrager stuff is fairly decent although sometimes I think the logo is about a 25% uplift over no-label options. Safe riding, Bobby G and thanks for watching!
The kind words are well deserved and thanks a lot for the trunk info. Just thought I’d mention,I have a trek as well BUT it’s a madone street bike(Lance Armstrong Special) it’s the same color, flat black with blue and white striping, he used in his #5 tour win that was thus Stripped. My touring bike is a an REI(Made by Giant) large frame and my third is a PEDEGO Trail Tracker E-Bike that’s absolutely KILLER with 4inch tires. It’s literally a 2 wheel Jeep😂. I have the Topeak MTS bike trunk on it. Would love to send you a picture of them all for ur comments on my choice of rides, but I’m not sure on how to send the photos other than a text OR email. If it is to personal for something like that for you to send…..I’d understand. Stay well and I wish you MORE tailwinds👍
Forgot to mention I too also have bigger panniers for the longer tours I’ve done. I have the Ortlieb Bike Packer Plus(charcoal color) That match my bike. I’ve done the Virginia Creeper Trail,The New River trail, and my wife and I just did 3 weeks ago the Jekyll Island bike trip. A little trivia for a trivia man,it’s unusual to name it the NEW river trail as it is only SECOND to the Nile River regarding its age. But you probably knew that.
A guy on the train ride back said Florida is the car accident insurance scam capital of the US as well. Drivers seemed pretty cool. The tourists were a challenge but I think I was a few days before the big crowds. I think I timed that well.
Not specifically for this trip. I usually try to keep my legs ready for 50-70 mile days. And if I'm being honest: I usually look at the first two days as "training". :)
I basically followed A1A with input from the Adventuring Cycling Association. That's also basically the East Coast Greenway. You can find their route at: map.greenway.org/ If you need more detail, hit me up at bryan@ridealongadventures.com
Great video, almost makes me jealous. It's too bad that I've been boycotting Florida for about 14 years now. The last 2 times I've gone, I've gotten 2nd and 3rd degree sunburns. I'm boycotting because FL should know that when my pasty Irish butt goes down there, they need to turn the Sun down to 6, not keep it at 11!
Sorry to hear of your pain. It IS intense. I discovered my sunscreen had expired after Day 1. Had to buy some new stuff. I noticed even on overcast days, my face was singed. However, I intend to go back. So many other areas to ride. The inland areas felt like a totally different state. Thanks for watching!
Sunblock 2k should do just fine for non Floridian. All kidding aside….Florida sun is VERY serious so be careful and put that stuff on thick especially if you are truly a white bread🤷🏼♂️
A Trek Checkpoint ALR5. I love it. Nice solid ride. The only thing I've experimented with are tires, otherwise, the bike has been untouched. I am contemplating the possibility of converting it to a flatbar.
@@bokendrick6553 I'm a big fan. I just spent a week on a beach cruiser on Sanibel Island. It's slower, for sure, but I really like the upright posture and the extra ability to soak in the surroundings. My only advice would be on the choice of saddle. The beach cruiser had a big old Cloud 9 and after about 30 miles, I was really feeling it: general soreness and the start of what would have become saddle sores, etc. With the flat terrain I think a cruiser would be perfect!
@@RideAlongAdventures well I'll be...I also have the Cloud 9 seat on my cruiser. It has almost 900 miles on it. Mostly beach towns along California coastline.
It has been a long winter wait to get out on a bike trip even if just an overnighter. How much ahead do you have to reserve a spot for your bike? Did you have to disassemble it?
So, bear with me while I list comments/questions: 1. Once again, LOVE the video - entertaining AND informative, a double swish for us! 2. AMTRAK - Did you get a roomette or did you suffer in just the seat? You said that you just rolled up and got to put your bike on as luggage, did you have to pay the $20 for that with a ressie or did you physically roll it up to the luggage car with no notice? This company confuses the crap out of me. 3. You made me very nervous riding on some of those busy roads with no shoulder 4. Did you follow the Adventure Cyclists maps or did you just reference them; BTW I love these maps! 5. Last year, I walked over the bridge by the Sebastian Inlet State Park, thinking, there is NFW anyone would bicycle over this bridge with no shoulder, but there you are riding over with no problem, so maybe it is doable; or you're just a crazy bat!! 6. How do you keep your bike safe when inside stores? 7. My guess for your next adventure: KATY TRAIL!! 8. Last thought: Maybe you could set up a group ride with some of you followers to do the Lehigh Gorge train/bike ride in Jim Thorpe, PA - THAT was a BLAST!!
Hey, thanks, Amy. I appreciate the feedback. I find the video making process pretty easy when you've had a blast on the trip. Pardon the lengthy reply--probably more detail than you wanted. First, I'm going to have my house swept for "bugs" because--and you've actually done this before--you appear to be listening in and/or watching me...read more below. Re: Amtrak--yes, I did coach on the way down (18 hours) but tried a roomette on the way back (25 hours). The price for the sleeper is probably something I wouldn't do very often but it was sure nice. Wow. Good food also. Taking a shower at 70 mph was hilarious. I had ridden across Ft. Lauderdale in the am and i was a sweaty mess by the time I got onboard so the shower was awesome. i would have totally funked out the coach cabin. Yes, $20 for the bike reservation--I should have been more clear in the video. And this is where I think you're watching because JUST THIS MORNING I wrote a video script about "cycling and Amtrak" because so many people have commented that the process is really confusing. And I absolutely agree. The website info is confusing, the online ticket process is confusing. Anyway...I will be doing a video JUST FOR YOU :) on how to navigate the process. Stay tuned. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of road riding and, believe me, I was nervous on a few sections on this trip. I've got my head on a swivel ALL of the time. You can't see it in the video but I've got a rear view mirror on the side of my handlebars and I'm constantly checking it out. I bought new blinkers and I tried to wear bright of clothing, especially those bright arm sleeves to stand out. Now, having said that, I think I timed this trip well in terms of being about a week ahead of spring break. Traffic was not bad until i got to Ft. lauderdale and those streets were nuts. The ACA maps (I downloaded them with the Bike Route Navigator app, $11) tend to take you on back roads which are not as busy but I think it was a tradeoff at times--would you rather be on a quiet road with no bike lane or a road with a clear, wide bike lane but more traffic? I wasn't sure which was best at some points. The only angry driver I encountered was on a back road. He stopped to yell at me but I calmed him down after a few sentences. Fortunately, I really didn't encounter too many crazy drivers. Seems like people were pretty cool. For me, if more than one car gets stacked up, I just pull over, let them go by, wave at them and say thank you. I get waves rather than middle fingers. :) LOL--the Sebastian Inlet bridge didn't really stand out as particularly bad but there were definitely some bridges where I was nervous especially nearer to West Palm Beach. I think I said in the video, there were a few bridges that kept me awake at night wondering how I was going to get across, then I would get there and the bike lane was wide or there was a walkway. I skipped a bridge at Cape Canaveral and took the one at Cocoa Beach--i was told that was a smart choice. And that sort of thing just isn't a part of the mapping software so I looked at Google or even Waze to look at current conditions. I don't leave my bike by itself for too long if i go inside a store. I park it near to a window so i can keep an eye on it. But I rarely have issues. When I came out of a convenient store in Flagler Beach, there were a half dozen kids checking it out and they had a bunch of questions, mostly about the camera stuff. I threw out a few dad jokes in the process of giving them info and they quickly dispersed. ok, two more "is-amy-watching" moments: Early this morning, i was looking into the Katy Trail--I think I'm doing that in May. Secondly, another subscriber and I may be riding the Pine Creek trail in June and I was wondering last night if I ought to organize something more broadly and invite people from the channel. Seems like a lot of work and potential liability but it would be a helluva lotta fun to have a meet up and ride as a group. if you've got other thoughts, however detailed or not, I'd be interested in hearing more. I have been thinking about this--which you probably know from your surveillance. ;) Thanks for watching, Amy. I always appreciate the questions and feedback.
Hi Bryan. My girlfriend and I really love your videos; the videography, storytelling style and format are tops! Quick question for you: now that you've logged some miles on it, how are you feeling (quite literally!) about the Brooks saddle? Also, would you confirm which version you purchased, I believe it's the Brooks B17 classic, correct? Thanks
Thank you, Mike. I appreciate the kind words. YES, still in love with the B17. It took about 400 miles to break in but since then it has been fantastic. I’ve never been so wrong about something like I was with “comfort” saddles. 😂
@@RideAlongAdventures Happy to hear the good news about the B17, I've been thinking about changing/upgrading mine, especially for long haul rides. Your feedback is appreciated, thank you. Happy trails!
@@mikeroth5536 let me know how you find it. It was a game changer for me. I’m actually putting together a short video right now on preventing saddle sores and that played probably the biggest part. I was convinced that more padding was better…I’m still shocked that the opposite was true. At least for me.
There ya go! 😂 I was looking at routes last night. That coast to coast trail looks really inviting although it is about 75% complete at this point. Gotta ride the west coast as well. Do you follow Flyscout Ryder (RUclips handle)-he lives down in the Keys…maybe if we get enough people he could guide us!
it's a good question, David. Someday I need to hear more about the actual science behind wind because it's a mystery to me. But, windspeed has a 33.3% impact on riding speed so... :)

@@RideAlongAdventures We’ve been staying there for over 30 years.. seen lots of changes.. back in the 1990’s I would do a lot of morning bike rides..
I bet watching a launch was Phenomenal.. in January of 2022
I was in Titusville to do C2C.. there was supposed to be a launch 🚀 but they changed to the next day.. we were so disappointed ☹️
Glad you like them!
I've lived in Florida 4 years and you've taught me some great trivia! Thank you and welcome!
I’ve been visiting Florida for so many years but never read anything about it’s history until that bike trip. Such a unique state. I really enjoyed that ride and hope to see more of it on two wheels in the future. Thanks for watching!
I watch a lot of cyclists on youtube and you are easily my favorite. Very relatable.
That’s incredibly nice of you to say. Thank you. 🙏
I just started biking throughout Florida. Glad I found your video. I’m planning to do this exact ride before I turn 50 next year.
Brian…. As a life long bike tourer… I really enjoy your videos… thank you… you need to go all the way to Key West 😊
You are correct, Sir. I’m trying to arrange that as we speak.
Thanks for the kind words. Nothing like combining two of my favorite hobbies. 😊
Thanks for the kind words. Speedy recovery, my friend.
... a few oh's and ah's... ... giggles !......&...rest...over-all video content...yay! to all people passing...plenty on hand... And! Thank you; this was awesome!

@@RideAlongAdventures lol... I had a ton of fun and everyone else really likes your channel too; good vibes!!! This is fun!!
55:13, riding a bike brings spontaneous laugh!
I loved that ride. Hard not to laugh and enjoy the coast. 😂
I have spent a lot of time up and down the coast between Titusville and Ft Lauderdale scuba diving... now I'm completely into cycling :D
glad you enjoyed it. it was a really great ride.
That was amazing! Thanks! I am in Florida and am planning my first longer ride! Just need to decide on a bike. I am done training in the Florida room!
Have fun! If you want to see a lot more videos about riding in Florida, you could subscribe to my buddy's channel, "FollowThomas". He has ridden all over the state and can show a lot more routes. Thanks for watching!
Great video. I live in S. Florida and work in one of the small towns you cycled through. Sometimes it makes you wonder why I don't get off my ass and explore what is just outside my front door.
lol. I often feel the same way. There’s beauty right outside the front door. Thanks for watching.
Glad you like them!
Lol. I take that as an extreme compliment! 😂 my gosh, that movie was so damn funny.
Thanks for watching! 🙏
@brushylake4606 it’s a deal, man! 👍 thanks again. Florida is such an amazing place to ride.

Smooth roads and blue skies,
Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. I’ll look into the camping for sure.
Ponce de Leon was a good friend of mine.
Lol. All joking aside: must have a been an interesting character. He lived a wildly exciting life apparently.
@@RideAlongAdventures for sure and I also like the legend about The Fountain of Youth.
Glad you like your trike.
Can you post this route? You flashed it at beginning of video but this is a great route? Thanks so much great video!
Gord
Gord
Captain Carl, why's the water on the wrong side of the yaght?
Ok…I need a little help here. 😂 Pee Wee Herman? Overboard? This comment definitely occupied about 8 miles on my ride today.
little trivia for a trivia man,it’s unusual to name it the NEW river trail as it is only SECOND to the Nile River regarding its age. But you probably knew that.

Careful with Florida drivers….. use sidewalks 🚲and bike trails as much as possible 👏👏👍🚲🌴🌴🌴
A guy on the train ride back said Florida is the car accident insurance scam capital of the US as well. Drivers seemed pretty cool. The tourists were a challenge but I think I was a few days before the big crowds. I think I timed that well.
I can attest to that, people on bikes don't pay taxes so they don't belong on the road is the mantra down here.
Correction, Patrick space force base.
You are correct, sir. That’s quite a base too.
Those were pretty long day miles on the bike, did you have to train before the adventure ?
Not specifically for this trip. I usually try to keep my legs ready for 50-70 mile days. And if I'm being honest: I usually look at the first two days as "training". :)
Have you posted the route you took for this ride?
What type of of bike are you riding?
A Trek Checkpoint ALR5. I love it. Nice solid ride. The only thing I've experimented with are tires, otherwise, the bike has been untouched. I am contemplating the possibility of converting it to a flatbar.
Thank you you seemed to get rode bike speeds.
@@kenshea5267 good tailwinds! :)
What speed would you say on average are we seeing?
I’d estimate about 13-15 mph. Depends if I’m really enjoying the scenery, then it’s more like 11-12.
@@RideAlongAdventures what do you think about a 7 speed cruiser bike doing what you do?
Yes, reservation required. $20. I had about two weeks notice. Best part: rolled it right to the baggage car: no disassembly required!
So, bear with me while I list comments/questions:
3. You made me very nervous riding on some of those busy roads with no shoulder
LOL--the Sebastian Inlet bridge didn't really stand out as particularly bad but there were definitely some bridges where I was nervous especially nearer to West Palm Beach.
I have been thinking about this--which you probably know from your surveillance. ;)
Thanks for watching, Amy. I always appreciate the questions and feedback.
Here ya go, Amy…let me know what you think.

I am thinking... we could do the Key Largo to Key West and back ride. Just wanted to plant that thought in your brain.
Won't that be windy?
it's a good question, David. Someday I need to hear more about the actual science behind wind because it's a mystery to me. But, windspeed has a 33.3% impact on riding speed so... :)
@@dukeman079 You just volunteered to join us. Great!
To me head wind is like riding uphill,, I am a bit slower then you, 12 to 14 mph average.
Yeah, I was really fighting it one day but the other days were, as a friend of mine puts it, like superhero speed. Barely pedaling, 22 mph. Awesome.
