Bryan, this is the second time that I road this with you. It is always goog to get on my stationary when I can't get out on my bike. I knew that you came back to finish your ride from Ft. Lauderdale to the Keys. I need to find that so I can join along. By the way I did do the Coast to Coast from St. Augustine, and I will vote for you to be the grand pumba. That ride look like alot of dirt roads and wilderness areas.
I’m so glad to hear that. Florida is an amazing cycling state. The infrastructure is just incredible. I’ve also been on my stationary bike the past several weeks due to some minor surgery. I hope to get outdoors again for some touring shortly. The summer season is afoot! Thanks for watching! 🙏
I was wondering if you had any new rides since the Flordia Coast to Coast from St. Augustine. There is suspose to be a trail from St road 207 to Platka Florida, to Keystone Heights and they are now connecting it to Lake Butler Fl.. I see where Thomas is tearing it up, going to different places each week.
FINALLY!!!!!! Lol. Sometimes I just laugh at how much time I spend on something silly like that and all I get is "crickets". If people only knew how much time I'm willing to waste on a stupid joke or "special effect"...😂 ...seriously...thank you. And thanks for watching.
So, that's what you guys did while I was riding in Deland and Titusville area. I'm actually pretty happy that I decided not to come to that ride because there's no way my 35mm tires would handle those sandy roads in the beginning but I definitely wanna check out the Old Dixie highway at some point, so cool!! Great job with putting this all together. Now I feel like wanna go another bike tour. Great Adventure!! A cool wild pig family sighting, she didn't even care about you guys. Half way to nowhere sign was original 😅
yeah, we did some pretty long "walks on the beach" the first day but it sort of settled down after that. The backroads were pretty awesome and, yes, the Dixie Highway was a great find. I'm behind on my youtube viewing but I fully intend to catch up on your videos this week. You are on of the most prolific youtubers I've ever known! :) Let's talk soon, Thomas. Best wishes.
I grew up in Florida, but yet seem to learn most of its history through your adventures and explanations. I did the C2C about 3 weeks ago, watching your video both before AND after I did it, for a nostalgic recap. So Grand Poobah, keep these great videos coming! Hope to see you out there sometime.
Hey Bryan, how are you doing? I beleive this was the last post from your cycling adventure's. I hope that you are doing well and will be out there again. Many blessing!!
Hi, Ernest. Yeah, I got sidelined for a bit but I just got back from several weeks of riding out west. I’m working on some new videos right now. Stay tuned! 👍🏻
It's interesting to see that stretch of Dixie Highway. It's a lot older looking than I expected. There are a few segments further south that are still active as 2 lane, paved roads. I know of 3 between Valkaria and Fort Pierce. They are useful if you want to get a break from the traffic along US-1.
Interesting! I came across a website awhile back that showed active vs inactive sections all the way north-south. Those brick sections were really cool.
I enjoyed your cross Florida bike tour, I live about 5 miles from the Old Brick Road or Old Dixie Highway, from Espanola to 204. I've ridden my motorcycle down it several times, but never biked it I think I will soon. Thanks for the adventure.
Great video as always. I'm curious have you ever tried the D&H rail trail in northeast PA? I came across some links to it today and it looks like your kind of trip with lots of fun history. I may give it a shot later this year if you are interested.
Your timing is excellent. I was just this morning talking with someone about how you *think* you know where rail trails are and then one just pops up out of nowhere. Excellent. Sure, let’s stay in touch. Maybe we could ride it together. Don’t wait on me however. If you decide to do it, let me know it goes.
Somehow, someway I've been unable to find your review of the Brooks saddle that you purchased. Did you like it or hate it? Still mulling over my favorite things about the 70's. The music was definitely one of the best things to be sure.
Hi, Steve. I don't think I did a full review but I can do a quick one. In short, I love it. It has been fantastic and super comfortable. It takes about 300 miles to condition it and for it to sort of mold to your sit bones, etc. But after that, it's great. One thing is to be sure to apply something like mink oil regularly. I do it every time I wash the bike (both top and underside). 70s music was awesome. :)
Another great RA! Just moved from Florida where I lived across the street from the Pinellas Trail back to the Finger Lakes of NYS. Takes some getting used to riding along with traffic. I don’t much like it, country roads are fine, but I don’t know how you deal with high speed roadways. Thanks for sharing and we all look forward to your next adventure!
Yeah, it’s an adjustment. I prefer off-road. This is why I gravitate to rail trails. BUT riding on roads is a fact of life. I’m being overly simple here but I think it just requires extra vigilance and attention. I’m watching in my mirrors, I’m constantly looking at the eyes of oncoming drivers. Yeah, it’s scary when I see them looking down at devices or otherwise distracted. No doubt about it: it’s dangerous and risky so you have to raise your own level of attention. When I plan routes, I look for big shoulders and I ride in non rush hour traffic. Whenever possible. I gotta get up to the Finger Lakes! I’ve heard nothing but awesome feedback on that area. Thanks for watching and stay safe out there.
finally got to watch the whole thing. Great video, so so different from SE Florida, which is the only area of the state I've really seen and which I'm......not a big fan of. Going from A1A to bear tracks in the sand is just epic. My eyes are officially opened. Hope to wear down some tires with you again.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a great ride. A lot of new areas to take in. Yeah, I’d look forward to some more riding together, Joe. Let’s stay in touch.
I think I’d contact a local bike shop for a shuttle to St. Augustine. Florida traffic is awful. Great video. I enjoy trains. US definitely could be more bike friendly. We’re trying. All the wonderful bike trails being planned is a start.
Love some Tom Petty. Also appreciate some Sister Hazel - also from Gainesville I believe. Thanks for the long video. It gave me something to watch while doing touch up painting in the great room and kitchen - for the remodel nearing completion. What a ride!
Fantastic Adventure 🚴♂️😎 the brick road 🧱 Kings Highway was Very Cool 🆒 the “Road Less Traveled” is always the Best 🙂🍻 PS looks like you had Awesome Weather.. What month did you do this 🌞
I've been reading more on the Dixie Highway because I think that could make for a serious adventure to retrace it from Canada to Florida. Thanks for watching, as always. 🙏🏼
@@RideAlongAdventures I hear great stories about the Lincoln Highway which turned into US 30.. in 2018 during RAGBRAI we traveled across Iowa on US 30.. I Live History now more than EVER 🙂
I would vote for you 😂 Funny you mentioned the Lincoln Highway as we have been travelling on it 👍 Love the video, looking forward to your next bike touring adventure 🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻♂️
lol. You guys are my idols. I’m really enjoying your pics and stories. The Lincoln highway route is awesome. I’ve driven a lot of it but never biked. Glad you’re feeling better also. Enjoy!
Enjoyed the latest video. I listened to it at 1:30 this morning and a question popped into my head…but I was not going to ask it at 1:30 in the morning! So, in anticipation of the cicada invasion that’s about to hit, I was wondering, how you handle riding through these creatures from hell?!🤪
lol. 😂 the most cicada filled day I ever experienced was a few years ago on the Ohio to Erie Trail. (ruclips.net/video/qbc7y9EQbXg/видео.htmlsi=SgGGo7x2AbMjvYEc) at the 3:09:00 mark. They were everywhere but they sort of kept their distance except for the occasional tag along for the ride. They’re ugly creatures but I think you just get used to them. And then they’re just endearing little guys who have their brief moment of life before quickly disappearing for another X years.
Talk about off of the beaten path! Interesting video and your shared thoughts. Thanks also for your logistics info. However, I have a question about that. Where you able to catch a train out of Tampa or did you have to ride a bus to another station? I checked trains from Tampa to Washington DC and it seemed like you have to take a bus. We moved to SWFL last summer and have been looking ways to take Amtrak, but without the 4-hour drive to Orlando. Thanks again.
Sure, I caught the train at Union station in Tampa and went straight through to Wilmington, De. No bus. It's a nice station as well. Seems like an old building tucked away in big development. Also, Starbucks around the corner. Jealous about your move :) Before the hurricane, we went to Sanibel every summer for about 20 years. We might get back this year. Anyway...enjoy the area!
@@cdmiller51 no problem. It IS confusing. I understand. The 92 Silver Star train goes from Tampa to Orlando and beyond. amtrakguide.com/routes/silver-star/
@@cdmiller51 honestly, I like to call them directly. Sometimes the website/app is confusing and doesn’t offer alternate routes that are more accommodating.
Great stuff Bryan , very entertaining videos. Water bottles are so easy to lose, usually at a cafe and wandering more as you get older is a good thing, so long as you remember where home is. Wondering if you had editing experience in a previous job?
Bryan, I forget which video it was but you were wearing a Retirement Plan T shirt with a bike on it. Can you send me the link of shere you purchased it? Thank you
it was a gift so I don't know about the specific shirt but there are a bunch on google...www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=retirement+plan+cycling+tshirt
Thanks for another great adventure. How did Kevin and you come up with that route? I thought you would have seen Thomas? Maybe the Huracan is in your adventurous future (see Ryan Van Duzer’a recent videos). Again thank you for the efforts.
This route was purchased from The Singletrack Samuri on his website (see in Bryan’s info) Since we started in a different location we had to do some modifications to the start. We also modified in some areas to avoid possible sandy areas and/or to get to a certain destinations (lunch, lodging, etc).
Thanks for answering, Kevin. I gotta go back and watch all of Duzar’s video. Looks like a great ride. lol…Thomas told me he was glad he missed the sand. 😂
Hey, thank you! I appreciate that. I use Final Cut Pro. Time? It depends. I’ve gotten a lot faster over the years but for a video like this one, it’s around 16 or so hours. Two days. One thing that has really helped is to have ideas before I start. If I’m just starting with raw footage and no ideas, it can take forever.
Hey Bryan.. I’ve been wondering what you have been up to and now I guess I know. Looks like fun was had by all and that is the point of riding! Thanks for sharing the trip, loved the intro of the video. FYI - b/c of your many biking adventures in Florida, that state is now on my bucket list! 😂
Hi, Cheryl. Yeah, it was an unexpected season of riding in Florida. Totally unplanned. But yeah it was awesome. Looking forward to seeing other parts of the US the moment the temps climb a bit. My gosh, we woke up to 37 degrees a few days ago!!!!!!
Thanks for another amazing video!! I love the logistics section - keep that in, for sure! I absolutely loved the piggies!! So cute! Yup, you need to ride the panhandle now, it is feeling dissed!! My one question is did you get a roomette on the train? That seems like an awfully long ride if you went coach!! For me, I would drive, but then, I love driving!! Can't wait to see your next adventure...keep pedaling, my friend!!
Thanks, Amy. I’ve done a roomette before. Yes, FAR more comfortable but you also miss out on the many characters you meet along the way. I’m with you on driving. It’s slightly more expensive but more flexible. However, sleeping on the train is also cool. Thanks for watching. Not sure what’s next actually. Maybe some shorter trails and then a big summer adventure. I need to nail it down at some point soon.
@@RideAlongAdventures Bry, I just watched a video of a couple riding the George S Michelson trail in South Dakota! WOAH!! That has your name all over it!! Absolutely gorgeous trail!! @@RideAlongAdventures Yeah Fred, Barney, and Bugs Bunny. I get in a hurry when I watch a video and type, I know it's the Loyal Order of Water Buffalo. Have fun
lol...this is a funny topic because I've sort of experimented over the years and I don't really know what I prefer. I used to clip in (spd) but that meant carrying another pair of casual shoes. Then I went with flat pedals. I use Merrill Moab hiking shoes which I really like for comfort as well. But I still don't want to wear them all the time so I generally bring a casual pair of lightweight slip-ons (aka old man shoes), especially for use if I'm on Amtrak. the Merrills definitely stink after a long ride and they also take up a lot of room in my bags. long answer to say I haven't totally figured out what works best yet. I noticed several other riders who use clip-in sandals during warm months. That might be worth a try as well.
Thank you for these ride along adventures. I have been rehabbing 2 knee replacements in the last yr and 1/2 and your ride along adventures are a game changer.
Kevin got a lot of advice (and I think purchased maps) from Karlos. And we followed a good bit of it except when we encountered a lot of sand or were fearful of no trespassing signs. All I can say is Florida is one beautiful state (as you well know). I dig your videos, by the way. Great channel. Not to mention your "handle" is awesome. :) Thanks for watching.
@@SingletrackSamuraiThat was 90% your routing except we started in St Augustine. Thanks for what you do. I met some of the folks that did Forgotten FL with you at the Marina when they were coming in. Was hoping to see you but missed you.

Just didn’t look familiar to me 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
@@SingletrackSamuraiyes, that was the part from St Augustine, where we were trying to get off US 1. One area was clearly no trespassing so we went a little further south. We ended up on the north end of the Old Brick road. There were some other areas that we modified “on the fly” for various reasons also.
Thanks for the ride Brian, do you ever get a flat tire, or do you use tubeless tires ? That's a long ride and no flats for all the different roads you travel.
I know this might sound crazy but, no, I just don’t flat. Yes, I ride tubeless and I’m a big fan. Prior to that I used those slime tubes which were also useful. I’ve been sort of lucky in that way. However, since you asked (probably more than you wanted to know), I had some burp of sealant all over my rear rack during the first day of this trip. I still know what happened. Perhaps my stem was loose (?). I recall hitting one fairly significant bump that actually threw a water bottle into busy traffic. But I’ve looked at the video and the sealant mess didn’t happen until later in the ride. So, no clue. I had one tubeless flat during last fall’s Ohio to Erie trip but that was because I didn’t know you needed to top off the sealant every so often. Valuable lesson. It was bone dry and just “disintegrated.” Fortunately, aliens helped me that day. (See video 😂 - that was some serious special effects for my limited video abilities; about 1:49:30 ruclips.net/video/oAxmaZejTkc/видео.htmlsi=YY2KdTJjvDme0mx-) I had some fairly significant punctures on the Montour Trail (well, getting to the Montour Trail, actually). But they sealed up before I could even use the plug tool. I only pumped the tire back up and all was well again. I think one reason is that I don’t push it on worn tires. I replace them almost annually which is usually when the rear tire is usually done for anyway. Long answer. Sorry. Thanks for watching.
Hi Bryan, thanks for the video. You seem like a real nice guy. Perhaps we could ride together sometime. I have a question, I noticed in your video quite a lot of Sandy trails. My question is should I use my bike with the three inch tires or the bike with 2” tires. Appreciate your help
Thanks, man. I try to be. For sand, it's really a tough call. I've ridden my fat bike (4.5") tires through all sorts of muck but, well...sand is sand. Kevin had wider tires and the sand still managed to make him fish tail in the back. Now, if it's wet, that's a different story but dry, deep sand is just a whole different beast. Stay tuned because I'm thinking of trying to organize some sort of group ride at some point. Maybe a summer tour somewhere. It's been my experience that bike touring folks are generally very cool people, friendly, positive attitude, etc. I keep waiting to meet a total jerk some time...hasn't happened yet. :)
omg...lol. maybe the other way around. I've got a much broader platform to share...maybe in the next videos. 😁 (this made me laugh really hard. thanks.)

How about pointing the camera out towards where we're going?
.... just sayin'! :) * thanks for the ride!
Thanks. Hopefully I’ve gotten better at this in later videos. Please let me know.
@@RideAlongAdventures thanks man, the last one is all days together so no need to watch each individual day if you do decide to watch. 😊
Very cool! How did the C2C go? Florida is an awesome state.
Very cool! Glad you enjoyed it. Such cool history.
If you decide to do it, let me know it goes.
you rode right past my house on first in neptune beach.
Beautiful area!
I enjoy your videos. When you showed the King's Road all I could think about was Game of Thrones.
lol. Great show.
Thanks for giving me a better tour of my home state. I love the background info as much as the different point of view.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks!
Thank you, Lois. That’s very nice of you.
Love it would like a map of YOUr trip so that me n my guy can do the trip as well, it looks epic😅
email me at: bryan@ridealongadventures.com
finally got to watch the whole thing.
It was definitely heavy in some places. Always good to be careful.
Love some Tom Petty. Also appreciate some Sister Hazel - also from Gainesville I believe. Thanks for the long video. It gave me something to watch while doing touch up painting in the great room and kitchen - for the remodel nearing completion. What a ride!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, it was a lot of fun.
Fantastic Adventure 🚴♂️😎 the brick road 🧱 Kings Highway was Very Cool 🆒 the “Road Less Traveled” is always the Best 🙂🍻
PS looks like you had Awesome Weather..
@@RideAlongAdventures PS 70’s & 80’s was the best.. less Complicated 🙂💫
Enjoy!
Kevin did a great job of planning the route...... well except for the sugar sand!!!! But still better then Georgia clay
He was (is) seriously an excellent navigator. The sugar sand was expected. The bear prints were not. 😊
@@RideAlongAdventures Dude! I would have lost my mind if I had looked down and saw one crawling on me🤭
Talk about off of the beaten path!
@@RideAlongAdventures Thanks, but I'm confused because the Amtrak site shows mixed service with a connecting bus to Orlando. I'll figure it out.
For some reason when I enter the entire route it shows mixed services, but when I enter Tampa to Orlando it shows the Silver Star train. 👍
Amtrak is crazy expensive.
I guess it depends on how you travel. Coach is about 1/4 of airfare. If you get a sleeper car, then, absolutely it’s expensive.
Great stuff Bryan , very entertaining videos. Water bottles are so easy to lose, usually at a cafe and wandering more as you get older is a good thing, so long as you remember where home is. Wondering if you had editing experience in a previous job?
I’ve always toyed around with videos as a hobby. However, cringe humor has been a professional pursuit for a long time. 😊
thanks for sharing.. I cant' ride any more and watching your videos helps scratch the itch ..
I’m sorry you cant ride but I’m happy to bring you a little “scratch” every now and then.
Thank you
Thanks for another great adventure.
How long does it take you do produce a video like this? What program do you use to edit your videos? GREAT JOB!
Another one that I thought of is the Paul Bunyon Trail in Minnesota. Whatever you choose to do next, we will be there to root you on, oh, and we will always have bail money if you choose to follow your felon friends!!! 😁
@@amylipkin2116 those are both high on the list for this summer. That is IF the temps ever rise.
Yes I will vote for you to be Grand Poobah! I’m sure know that the Loyal Order of Buffalo gig goes along with it too, but you can swing it.
I appreciate the vote! I had to look it up but "Sam Slagheap" might not agree. Fun fact: he changed almost every episode.
flintstones.fandom.com/wiki/Sam_Slagheap. Long live the Flintstones--I learned everything about marriage, friendship and corporate life through that cartoon.
@@RideAlongAdventures Yeah Fred, Barney, and Bugs Bunny. I get in a hurry when I watch a video and type, I know it's the Loyal Order of Water Buffalo. Have fun
Another great Video! Thanks for sharing. What kind of shoes do you use to ride? Do you clip in?
lol...this is a funny topic because I've sort of experimented over the years and I don't really know what I prefer.
I’m so glad. 😃 Best wishes on the rehab!
Interesting route choices
Kevin got a lot of advice (and I think purchased maps) from Karlos. And we followed a good bit of it except when we encountered a lot of sand or were fearful of no trespassing signs. All I can say is Florida is one beautiful state (as you well know). I dig your videos, by the way. Great channel. Not to mention your "handle" is awesome. :) Thanks for watching.
I recognized some stuff for sure. Some of it I didn’t! Thanks for showcasing Florida and having a great take on it all✌🏽
@@SingletrackSamuraiThat was 90% your routing except we started in St Augustine. Thanks for what you do. I met some of the folks that did Forgotten FL with you at the Marina when they were coming in. Was hoping to see you but missed you.
@@kmccarrthat would of been pretty amazing to run into you. Definitely didn’t recognize some parts of the route. Have ridden it so many times and yet there were some scenes in the video that I was wondering where yall were at. Like the yellow
Gate with the signage and the super sandy stuff.
If you do regrease your hub motor please video it. Saw too much conflicting info from others. Really glad your back has improved.
?? Was this for someone else?
@@RideAlongAdventures yup papa blue shirt. Sorry.
(See video 😂 - that was some serious special effects for my limited video abilities; about 1:49:30 ruclips.net/video/oAxmaZejTkc/видео.htmlsi=YY2KdTJjvDme0mx-)
I had some fairly significant punctures on the Montour Trail (well, getting to the Montour Trail, actually).
Bryan/Duzer 2024 🚴♀️🇺🇸 Grand Poobah
omg...lol. maybe the other way around. I've got a much broader platform to share...maybe in the next videos. 😁
(this made me laugh really hard. thanks.)
What bike r u guys riding for this adventure?
I ride a trek checkpoint alr5.
Hi! I am going to watch this while I complete a strength training workout and my physio exercises. Why? It's too horrible outside to ride. And I took my bike off the trainer now. Pffffffftttttttttttt........ so thank you!!!!
It's crazy...seems like the warmer weather will never come. We had 38 the other morning. WTH. Enjoy the videos. :)
@@RideAlongAdventures yes, allegedly summer is coming. We’ve been teased quite a bit but nothing sustained. PNW winters/spring can be rough. I’m definitely a sun lover!
What bike are u riding sir
I ride a 2019 Trek Checkpoint ALR5. Good solid ride that handles gravel, road, dirt, sand, creeks, swamps. I really enjoy it. I toured for several years on a 2000 Cannondale R1000. Nice bike but not for trails. My other touring bike is a Trek Farley with 4.5" wheels but i don't take that one out as often...that's mostly for mountain bike trails. Thanks for watching.
Simple Guy knows what he's watching tonight........
The BikeFather!
omg...i love it. :)
it was quite the contrast to below freezing in a tent the week before! 😂
Skumkape tracks
Had to look this one up but…WOW…this is a topic for a future video. Awesome.
Thanks!
Ah, man. You are super nice. Thanks. 🙏
