My guess is that if crappie is ever considered an endangered species they will hang Richard Gene from the highest tree LOL ....Richard you have taught many of us an awful lot about fishing and I thank you
I've never been successful jig fishing, I'd make a few casts and catch nothing, not knowing what I was doing. Your teaching has helped make me more confident fisherman and trying different things and learning what to do. Ive went a few times and jig fished and i have caught crappie for the first time in 6 or 7 years. Thanks for all you're doing and all the videos, I can't wait to see your new videos man! I love your clean humor that you incorporate here and there. Thanks also for your Godly content and acknowledging the viewers. I'll learn anything and everything you want to teach about fishing! May God Bless! Thanks Richard!
When I see Richard out fishing and carrying on so, I really start to miss my ol' fish'n buddy who is has passed on a few years back. We would raise a ruccus and cut up all day long. Richards most important point to all his videos is go fishing when you can and god bless all of you 🙏
I found some early spawners here in Oklahoma yesterday along a sandstone shore jiggin with my 9' 5/6 weight flyrod n you talk about fun. I got it paired with a 1000 size fishdrop spinnin reel n I have a ball. Caught a 2n1/2 lb bass n thought I hooked a flathead lol. Thank you Richard Gene n God bless you, momma Sue n the whole family
Thanks Mr Gene! You have never put out a video that wasnt educational and entertaining nor one I didnt enjoy!! If you ever get to central Illinois Id let you school me on some of our dink crappie we have around here!😁 Thanks again!
I grew up in Texas and every where I fished had 10" min for crappie. I was disappointed after moving to central Illinois when I'd catch (and release) 40 crappie, but you'd be lucky to have one 8" in the bunch. Most lakes I fish here don't have a minimum size limit. I was at Evergreen this past Friday and was happy to catch 25 crappie, but brought home 10, and only one was close to 10", but overall better than the past years.
Howdy mr gene I want to thank you for your info on how to catch crappie on jigs I have learned a lot from your videos . I fish in bear creek , al lake upper bear and your techniques in your videos has been a blessing for me in catching crappie . Again thank you sir . Terry vickery Haleyville, Alabama
Good afternoon, Mr. Richard. Appreciate all your work to bring us another video. It's nice watching you have a good day. God bless ya'll and hope you have a blessed day, my friend.
They are not anywhere near spawning up here in Michigan, usually mid May in my area. But lately we’ve had a big warmup with lots of sun. I’ll target rip rap on impoundments against north or northwest shores because the rocks warm up and so does the water. Good place to search for them!!
Hello Richard. I have enjoyed and learned much from your many videos, so thank you. I feel very fortunate that my 14 year old daughter still likes to fish with her Dad. I have taught her to slip bobber fish for mainly bluegill, however neither one of us have ever caught a crappie. From what I have read, the habitat for bluegill and crappie are very similar, which confuses me. Can you please explain how you target crappie in a lake environment versus bluegill? Thank you in advance.
Great video on the spawn. When they are tight on the bed they aren't hungry, they are chasing away prey, they will grab the small jig and push it away rather than eat it..... down size is the key. 64th oz
I'm always bass fishing among the group. One day, I had a big crappie swallow my chatterbait, acting like he hadn't eaten in days 😂 I thought I had a bass at first 😂
A grub worm is awesome on a crappie jig a 1/32 oz or 1/8 oz. If you use a 1/32oz crappie jig, use a medium-sized fly snap. This will help get the line on the fly snap. The hole in a 1/32 oz jig is really small a medium size fly snap will fit on a 1/32 oz jig. Plus, it helps keep the action of this jig head. If you want distance, get a 1 1/4 inch weighted bobber it helps you cast tiny 1/32 oz jig out further. 😊
Great video again, you always make it look it easy. But to be honest, I've tried some of your tricks and got skunked lol. Would like to see more about locating bait fish. God bless
Just found your channel a few weeks ago. Great content! In watching some older vids, I see you in a Jon boat with custom deck work. Do you have a video of the boat and the mods you made to it? Thanks.
Hey Richard. A couple of things. This video was just released 25 minutes ago. Today is April 15th. I heard you say it was March, and the water temperature was about 60 degrees. Is this video from the month of March, or is it from today?
Richard, quick question. I have bought some roadrunner underspins and for some strange reason I can't get them to work right. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it a bait defect?
I use only Road Runner brand baits . I’ve tried several different types and the cheap ones don’t work for some reason, the blades won’t spin or the plane sideways and sometimes just painted all over the swivel. He’s mentioned something about those issues in an older video but can’t remember what one. But don’t give up on them they are my favorite and always put fish in the boat for me.
My guess is that if crappie is ever considered an endangered species they will hang Richard Gene from the highest tree LOL ....Richard you have taught many of us an awful lot about fishing and I thank you
They wouldn't dare to lynch Richard they know Bursal will come after them.

Our Spring bite down south is all messed up with high water 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
That ain’t no joke.
Even worse now in Seminole after that storm we just went through! Thought it was going to blow our truck off the road!

Were you catching crappie spawning near the bank in shallow water?
@@rodneyjohnson7327 fairly shallow from a dock under 8 feet. Have had luck in as little as 2 feet off the bank and from a boat.
Sunglasses Richard.... love them. Link?
