The melting method looks much prettier but it can change the consistency of some makeup which sucks
I've done it once, and it changed the texture of the lipstick itself 😅

I can see how this would be good for makeup artists who want to keep their stuff as hygienic as possible

But when they need to reapply the lipstick to the brush, the bacteria would still get on the lipstick because it transfers from the brush.

I absolutely love making my own highlighters by mixing different finish eyeshadows, blushes and highlighters. The colors turn out unique and you can make a truly blinding one. Repressing works great too. It can turn disastrous eyeshadows to creamy pigmented pots of heaven.

Some people prefer not to melt it because it changes it's texture. If I depot a matte lipstick, I'm going to crush it, not melt it, because if I melt it it won't be as matte afterwards. Also, melting is very precise, I've accidentally burnt 2-3 of my fave lipsticks doing that. I usually just depot the bullet into whatever container, then squish it and level it from there.

I love when they melt the lipstick. Its satisfying and when you pour it its not gonna look as messy as physically cutting the lipstick and just putting it in.
This makes me really want to do this now so I can mix and match colors of all sorts!

I have depotted almost all my makeup and saved so much space! It is really great especially for those with the minimalist lifestyle.
As a Make-up Artist I can say this is very helpfull because you carry way les weight when going to job and also as she said it's easy to sanitaze and you also see the shades not like opening everylipstick to find the shade you searching for but if you only do make up in private for yourself it's not really nessaceri sry for my bad english :)

Some people buy bags, others buy shoes or jewelery. What makes this so different from that? Some people aren't make up artists and just love make up for themselves. It's its own art form; a way to express yourself. There are also many different brands out there and as your skin may not work like someone else's, a brand could work wonders for them but not for you. If you like the process of make up then finding products that do what you want them to do can be a separate process in itself. So, stop coming after people just because you don't think it's a worthwhile thing to put your money into. No one is telling you to buy multiple lipsticks. For a client or not, some people just really love make up.

Melting screws with the formula. Even if you hate the aesthetic, I think chopping is the better way to go. It seems like a fun project if you have a ton of makeup. I would try it for vacations since alot of packaging really weighs down your luggage.
