Regrettably, Mercedes Benz seems to have lost its once clear vision for the AMG department. This has resulted in their vehicles remaining stationary on sales lots, struggling to find buyers.

91,500 CAD, wow. Just went back to look at the order of my previous 2017 C43, which had all the packages (AMG Drivers, IDP, LED Light, Premium pack and some other bits) and that was 77,600 CAD (with freight and PDI)

The Previous C43 was a upper 3sec car with the V6 biturbo and no launch control. This new version puts paid to the question of weather a “true” AMG is better and honestly…I don’t think it is. Interior is nice of course but they all are.
@@TheLumberJacked Haha. I remember all the civil war arguments during those days of ownership between C43 and C63/C63S owners. I don't miss it. And here we have one that is hand built, but is a 4 banger and likely not better than it's predecessor, for substantially more. I agree with you totally.

The old one was actually faster when tested than this one. The extra HP in the new C43 doesn’t make up for the added weight and the price jump places it in the same range as cars it can’t compete with.

And boy are they being chewed to pieces over all this 4-cylinder hybrid crap. If the rumors about the V8 coming back to the C63 and E63, I wouldn't be surprised if the I6 steps in for this also.
i have no idea what youre talking about, the new one is clearly faster, the old one does 12.8 sec in a 1/4 mile, the new one is 12.4. plus This new one is more amg than the old one, the old one doesnt have a handbiult engine. The new one has, and everyone says now the new one is a real amg, the old one was critisized for not being amg.
@@chrism869 if you don’t know what I’m talking about read some reviews or go test drive the cars. The 0-60 on the old one is 4.1 seconds and the new one is 4.5. The quarter mile on the previous gen post facelift (when it received an HP boost) is 12.6 seconds and the new one is 13. Plus the new one lost the C43’s great sound which gave the previous car so much of its personality. Oh but the new one has a guy’s name on the 4pot, hooray.
I had bought the previous gen S205 C43 AMG wagon after watching your review in 2019. That was a fantastic car and the 3.0 TT V6 had a ton of character, and performed great especially with a remap and downpipes.
On a level of 1-10 this appeals to on a minus - infinity. Absolutely crap.
Don't see how you buy this when the BMW M340i Xdrive exists.

For the first time, the 43 is the one to get over the 63 mode. That being said, there is absolutely no reason to buy a C43 over the M340i.

@@mattduchene8033 Not sure what you're talking about at all. C43s usually go for around 60-70k, which places it firmly around the M340i and S5. I would know since I shopped around looking at all of them and decided on the M340i.
I had a 2018 C43. That engine and exhaust at the time were excellent until all the regulations muffled it
I’m still thinking g about buying a used one and tuning it to keep it as a nice 4 door fast daily driver that isn’t a full blown 63 model

The V6 C43 was/is slightly faster, cost less, sounds better, and doesn't even have a mpg penalty. This car is nice but a step in the wrong direction imo.
And a crappy interior
8:24 this is the kind of stuff that takes me from being a buyer to easily forgetting it exists. For nearly 100K that's totally unacceptable. I'd rather just not have the feature at all than have one that doesn't work the way I want!

Nah I'll keep my 2018 C43. It sounds amazing and honestly the interior is better. You can tell Mercedes is trying to save money on components like the head rest extension and seat adjustment buttons. They look really cheap despite the price being so much higher.
The sound is artificial inside of the car. When you’re driving this car under 60km it sounds like an old Toyota. No offence to Toyota.
The problem is the feature creep on these cars. Yes, inflation has raised prices but the biggest factor in bumping up the cost is MB adding in things like rear wheel steering. I can get a fully loaded M3 (minus carbon ceramic brakes and the carbon fiber seats) for C$125,000. Of course you don't need to check every option and can get a nicely equipped M3 for C$108,000. Personally I think the M3 looks better (with the exception of the front grille too.
I'm hard pressed to see why I would take a C43 or even the new C63 over a M3.
The reason why MB is going back to V8s is the new EU regulations which will restrict HP as a function of engine size. So if a manufacturer wants to give a car more HP, they will have to give it a bigger engine. However, that also means more emissions hence the use of hybrid tech. These regulations will take effect in 2025 so that's why the V8 is coming back in the 2026 model year.
Fantastic post ....and yes, the v8 is back in 2026, circa June 2025 in non hybrid format for the c63 and plug-in hybrid format w 750 plus hp for the e63...they destroyed AMG the last week years and the market responded to the 4 cylinder lunacy with a big No !

Plus this also enables EU regulators to charge more taxes. Bigger the engine, higher the taxes. EU regulators are very stringent in reaping the most benefits of any policy

As a former 340 owner unless ur Max Verstappen you’ll never feel the dynamic difference on the road. If you want a 440 just go buy a used m2 and you’ll save ur self on dep with a better car to boot

I’ve had it since release about 4 months now. I love it minus the fuel mpg ahah. Yes it’s a 4cyl. But for a daily it’s an amazing car. Super comfy, very well put together, great MBUX, etc

I’m biased because I have a current gen. C300, but I like this. The price is too high though. I would buy a loaded M340i over this and still save thousands.
Sounds like the engine, transmission, and hybrid coordination issues from the C63 are also here. If you watch these guys’ old C43 video they were so excited and now it’s all disappointment. Tells you all you need to know about the car

$92k for a C43 is just insanity. That seems wildly overpriced, and not just a "premium." And as someone who prefers Benz over BMWs typically, I must come to my senses and admit the M340i is a much better package. The interior on the BMWs are also incredibly sharp, and don't have these dual screens that looked clunked on.
It's weird. In United States it starts at 61k which is not much different then the m340i base.
I own a 2017 C43 Sedan and it was 70k ish CAD, It came with Premium pkg, but not AMG pkg. I doubt I want to pay 91k + tax for a C43. Tons of more options if you have a budget of nearly $100k

I own this car and I had the 2023 C300 before it. Have owned BMW (m850i, 3, 5 and 6 series) before this. After the run-in period this car's character changes. Lag is reduced, road noise is lower. Agreed m340i is amazing, but availability with options, amazing tech, comfortable interior, and more engaging drive (not at track) win with the C43.

@@hunterrrdrivesthe M340i XDrive has no business getting the gas mileage it gets. I’ve averaged 31.2mpg since new and can average 41mpg on long freeway drives. It’s insane!
I actually think this is a good engine for a 43. But it will be nice to have the 421hp software from the 45s. Better mpg for city drive and still more than enough power when needed.
It's not just the 4 cyclinder that's an issue with this car and the new C63. They just got the whole transmission tuning wrong. It's jerky as hell and extremely uncomfortable at low speed. On top of that, Merc is charging these much more than the previous gen. Just crazy.
Amazing how many people hate this car simply because of the 4 Cyl, as long as it makes power I don’t care how many cylinders the car has!
Our XC90 T6 RD Polestar feels way faster than the V8 Land Rover LR4 it replaced!
MB is already walking back and saying they will bring the V8 back in the real AMG version in 2 years. This is a colossal failure.

The v6 c43 with a conservative staged 1 gets you rs5 numbers. They also have one of the better sounding v6 in the market plus they don’t look like a Hyundai
No matter how you look at it, the new 2023 Mercedes-AMG C43 is still properly fast and loaded with tech and luxury. Most importantly for the majority of buyers, it presents the allure of the three-pointed star badge and the letters 'AMG' on the bootlid, and it's not just for show as it does the label justice
AMG is far more than just the badge... people dont even consider some AMG badged cars as actual AMGs. This also seems unworthy of the badge.

I cant believe the price. I used to manage the photography and advertising for a local Mercedes dealer, and I loved the C43. I thought for the price in 2019, the C43 was a great car for the money. It was balanced and incredibly fun. But now, nearly $100k for a 4 cylinder? Im shocked. Even with inflation, nearly $15k more is criminal.

@@F5alconsHouse not many cars has 400 hp from a 2l engine but mitsubishi fq 400 has 2l and 400hp in 2009 so todya is not rly impressive. I would rather choose a healthy 400hp 3l engine l6 or v6 than super boosted 2l engine. I would buy a car with 2l engine if I want an economical car and a 3l engine if I want a sport car, or just buy a m340i which can be both, I will replace my 440i next year

Here's a solution for front plates: Don't require them! Harass your representatives to get rid of them.
Our representative tried to change the plate design in Ontario and made into a reflective mirror, it was then turned back. They can’t do anything

Pure electric will be the Edsel of the 2020s! The infrastructure just isn’t there to support it nationwide. I see Teslas on the road dead all the time between cities in Texas and seen video of them bursting into flames.
I feel like i missed something but is there a reason why the Auto start stop cannot be turned off on vehicles anymore? Like it sucks when the engine goes off on the hotest days and the heat begins to consume me and having to somehow trigger it back on...
As a general rule, u can turn it off, but, a lot of manufacturers force u to go through various screens in the multi function display to do this !
And every time u turn the car back on, u need to turn stop / start off again !

It drives great and is quick , but I prefer the I guess regular C43 . It’s good for what it is tho , especially the way it sounds .
i had to get rid of my E53 wagon, the way it hits bumps was so annoying, and putting non run flat tires didnt change it much... So I opted for the opposite car entirely, a RX500h.. smooth quiet, takes bumps well.. My E53 hit bumps harder than my SL63 which is crazy if you think about it.. I loved it but dont miss it.

I’m not a car guy but I do like cars. I decided to buy the 2023 C43 because of the comfort. I did test drive a 340i and a few other cars but I decided the C43 because of the interior and comfort with some decent performance. For example, a lot of cars are starting to go the long tablet display. Like the 2024 Hyundai Sonata display looks like the BMW. But if I was going more for speed I’d definitely go for a BMW without a doubt. Though, I feel like this C43 was trying to go for a market of people. I love it and wonder if anyone else did as well?
Why not just get a C300 at that point?
@@nashifcod The C43 still offers some sort of performance. I think it’s marketed in a bad way. I see this car for someone like me who just wants a nice interior, comfort with decent performance. If I really wanted performance, I would agree there are many other options for the price of this.

Different take here: i know a coouple friends here in germany who have bought/considered buying a new c63. The reason that no reviewer talks about is that the 4cyl is a lot cheaper in both taxes and insurance. Because here in Europe these things are at least indirectly tied to engine displacement.
(I know thats an "artificial" reason to buy a car. but in the real world buying this over a M3 or V8 saves you *thousands* of euros each year)
You pay taxes in Germany for CO2 emissions and the difference to a 340i is not really a thing, because it is a 4 cylinder, but an inefficient one so that doesnt make much sense
