But what I also see is the same material that was in the outgoing A class. The door panels look the same including the floor panels especially without a dead peddle. Very sad especially at that price point.
Nice review Joe! You had too much fun doing this! Handles great because is AWD and not RWD setup. Saw in a online post you can order the car without the fake engine sound generator and if fitted the sound generator adds more cost. Don't know if true or not but interesting.
So this 4 cylinder electrified turbo weighs as much as a biturbo V6 and gets no better fuel economy. So what's the point? And as an added bonus, you now have massively increased complexity with an electric motor sandwiched in the turbocharger, plus the associated battery pack for it.
While Mercedes' numbers show it being no better than the V6 I have no idea how they were able to get the numbers that low. I own one and drove it cross country (Ohio to Colorado). I was averaging 35 mpg including all of the stops that I made. While that is not great, it's a hell of a lot better than they claimed.
Some of the features you mentioned that the C43 you reviewed didn't have are actually options. There's also a performance exhaust option, which might improve the exhaust sound, heads up display, ventilated seats, panorama roof, etc. etc. I think the model you reviewed is just the Premium trim. Ok so as Joe mentioned its a 70k car as is and you want to add more options to a 4 cyl "baby benz" really. The fact that it is not equipped with ventilated seats and a hud is bad, not to mention not 4 matic for the price.
@@harrylanders4895 I get what you are saying. in the US, they have two different trim levels. The Premium and the Pinnicle. The Pinnacle adds the head up display, higher end audio system, and Augmented Video based Navigation system. The base price for the Premium trim is not $70K, it's $59,9K BASE. For the Pinnacle trim, it starts at $62K BASE. With either trim, you have a variety of options. Yeah, I get it, it "SHOULD" come with this and that for that much money, but the reality is that car mfg's sometimes have to add certain options due to supply chain issues, and other higher costs involved. That's the reality behind what decisions they are currently making. The AMG are effectively designed by the AMG group and they decide how to sell the more limited edition models. But the model he tested wasn't spec'd out the way he would like it. Maybe he could have sat down with the MB people and spec'd out what he would have liked and said that with all of the options that Joe would have liked, here's how much it costs. All I was saying is that Joe didn't mention that a lot of the things that was missing in the vehicle he was testing ARE available as an option and he should have at least stated that in his review. Yes, it didn't have the pano roof, but that IS an option. Yes, it didn't have ventilated seats, but that IS an option. I actually own this exact color, year, and model. I do have the panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated leather seats and night package. It's beautiful on the inside and the interior hugs you. But it drives like trash and is so unreliable. Mine has been in for repair 4 times since I purchased it short of a year ago. I had to have it towed with only 1500 miles on it. The turbo doesn't turbo. It has a terrible lag taking off from a complete stop and the transmission changes so rough from 1st to 2nd it physically jerks you. The car actually leaps when it realizes it needs to catch up. The gas mileage is bad compared to the M440i and MB C300 I had before this. If you're saying I have to drive it in manual, Sport to avoid getting beat by a Hyundai Elantra at the light...😢.
It’s a beautiful car, but it looks like Mercedes is getting lazy with their interiors. They used to set the standard, now it looks like they put an iPad where the gauge cluster should be. Looks cheap
Joe - I have the previous generation C43 with the V6. No way in hell would I trade it in for this 4-banger. And the engine sounds 10 times better than this 4 cylinder. The only thing that I hope they improved on with this new generation is the suspension. Mine is way too stiff. Especially in Eco and Comfort mode.
When a friend of mine got the old gen C43 I was pretty impressed for what it was. I can see why you’d be content with the V6 over this. Sad that eventually the only options for us will be 4 banger turbos or electric lol.
I love these vids as much as the next guy but two questions, are these media demos that have 3-4k already on them cause if they have like 500 miles beating on them can't be good? Also, has he never been pulled up over driving like a lunatic on these suburban roads lol?
I think the interior is nice but some of the materials and panels seem bland. For this price and being an AMG, the seats should be soft Nappa leather vs that grainy leather. Also, the door panel is blah. I wish the large red section on the door was quilted or perforated to jazz it up.
Good choice BMW is 0.2 sec faster in 1/4 mile, the C43 sounds a bit better and handles a bit better. Both are great, C43 is less popular compared to M340....that makes it more exclusive..... :)
A lot I like about this C43, a bit I don't, Joe, but I love my 2016 AMG 450 WITH panoramic sunroof a lot better. 4 cyl? Don't think so. BTW, really enjoy your reviews.

Now my first new Mercedes sedan I can buy.
Give me a panoramic roof and Mercedes has made perfection.
The digital headlights “project shapes in the road like speed limit…”? Could’ve showed that.
It’s a beautiful car, but it looks like Mercedes is getting lazy with their interiors. They used to set the standard, now it looks like they put an iPad where the gauge cluster should be. Looks cheap
Great review as always. Maybe it’s me but the camera was shaky at times.
Mercedes just be doing great with the AMGs. Although I'd take a M3 over this, I wouldn't mind driving this for a while.
This is more of a 340i competitor not M3
i was referring to the m series, i didnt know i didnt say it@@93ksj
@@93ksj don’t know how is it like in the US but in Canada C43 is 15k CAD more expensive than M340i.
I’d still choose the m340i
Nice Joe, but when will you review the Ferrari Purosangue !? 😁🤣
That’s a great question
Joe - I have the previous generation C43 with the V6. No way in hell would I trade it in for this 4-banger. And the engine sounds 10 times better than this 4 cylinder.
The only thing that I hope they improved on with this new generation is the suspension. Mine is way too stiff. Especially in Eco and Comfort mode.
When a friend of mine got the old gen C43 I was pretty impressed for what it was. I can see why you’d be content with the V6 over this. Sad that eventually the only options for us will be 4 banger turbos or electric lol.
@@F80mthree - I know what you mean. If they want to downsize the engines to 2 litres, at least give us a 6 cylinder. They are also much smoother.
FYI, at 30.13 you mention C63, the car is a C43
Susbscribed as soon as you made the point of books in the back seat
Joe, 4 motion is VW. MB is 4 matic.
I like Mercedes Benz’s take on the q50
Nice 🔥
I’m so glad that you are liking this one
Solid, but if I have to pick.... C43 amg coupe or BMW M440i gran coupe.
This engine reminds me of the Buick GNX! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love these vids as much as the next guy but two questions, are these media demos that have 3-4k already on them cause if they have like 500 miles beating on them can't be good? Also, has he never been pulled up over driving like a lunatic on these suburban roads lol?
Yea it is. The best or nothing
I’m glad that you think so!
I think the interior is nice but some of the materials and panels seem bland. For this price and being an AMG, the seats should be soft Nappa leather vs that grainy leather. Also, the door panel is blah. I wish the large red section on the door was quilted or perforated to jazz it up.
Me with c43 and my friend with m340 did a several round of launch control contests. Mine beat his so hard every time. Don't know what was happening.
If only we could take M340's performance and dress it into the C43 clothing, now that would be amazing.
I tested drive this car before I decided to buy a M340i earlier this year 😂
Good choice BMW is 0.2 sec faster in 1/4 mile, the C43 sounds a bit better and handles a bit better. Both are great, C43 is less popular compared to M340....that makes it more exclusive..... :)
When you caught your self almost cussing I started dying laughing 😂😂😂
Best video in a while.

"Nürburgring track Twinkie holder" 😂☠
FYI, at 30.13 you mention that this car is a C 63,otherwise it's an awesome review.
Head up display is an option. C Class is the New Standard
That is awesome to hear!
Im suprised it did not come with a pan roof which is usually a merc staple
A lot I like about this C43, a bit I don't, Joe, but I love my 2016 AMG 450 WITH panoramic sunroof a lot better. 4 cyl? Don't think so. BTW, really enjoy your reviews.
I can totally understand Tom
Joe and Lori and Steve and keep up the good work and I love the video 👍 💯real true
They put a 4 Cylinder for fuel mileage but the B58 in the M340i gets 20% better mpg?
